Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave is by far at the top of the list. Recently fired Three Houses back up. On 2nd playthrough in Blue Lions [Classic Mode] having beaten Black Eagles Church of Seiros route already. Forgot how amazing it is.
Splatoon Raiders is also an easy W. Can already imagine a grid-based tactics game where movement is doubled in your ink, and halved in enemy ink. Snipers shoot up to 8 squares in a line, Splattershot sprays in a 3-2-1 square funnel, Blaster shoots 4 squares in a straight line then explodes on 4th square so the 3rd and 4th get paint on left and right sides also... possibilities are endless!
Monster Hunter Stories 3 is an absolute must-have. Resident Evil Requiem is also a no-brainer. Beat the Pragmata Sketchbook demo on Steamdeck and immediately pre-ordered on Switch 2.
Too many great games. Mario Tennis Fever and Yoshi Mysterious Book are also day one purchases.
Decided to wait for the inevitable port to Nintendo's next gen Switch console so I could play it hybrid, and I didn't want to wait a decade for the sequels.
Now is the payoff.
@MattmanForever
I have a modded Switch OLED and modded custom Switch Lite OLED, both with the original Final Fantasy VII using the Omnislash mod. Obviously need a modded Switch to run the mod and overclock the CPU to run it properly (and the GPU, though to a lesser extent).
Character models and portraits are changed to match the remake. It's so freaking good. And still has the 3x speed toggle, Limit Break toggle and No Encounter toggle as well. So I'm able to cruise through while also playing the remake on Switch 2 and see how they differ.
I tried telling people but they wouldn't listen. Just argue with bold confidence.
Whole industry saw a downturn in Nov, yet it still matched the original NS1 its first Nov, and Dec continues to see that overall downturn but, like NS1, ranked #1 in Dec but not Nov. All of this in spite of the $450 price being 50% higher than the original NS1.
Now.
Eventually sales will fall behind the Switch. The odds of Switch 2 outperforming [checks notes] the best selling console in history, is slim. And I'd wager when that happens, you will see the same people come out of the woodwork to declare it a failure once again. As if anything less than being the best selling console ever created is the failure mode.
I prefer stable 30 over variable. Though this seems pretty high averaging 50-60.
There is a stuttering 30 and a smooth 30. The stuttering 30 has poor frame timing and no motion blur. But smooth 30 has flawless frame timing and just a bit of motion blur to blend between frames.
When it's the "smooth 30" I absolutely have no issue with it.
@NickDaddyCool
Idk about this collection, but Sony absolutely paid Konami to not release Symphony of the Night on Switch.
Literally every other Castlevania collection came to Switch, and all evidence suggests they performed best there. Yet that one game they cut a deal for to ensure Switch gamers couldn't buy on their console.
Sony was that petty at the time. Thankfully they have new leadership. Not sure I agree with some of their bone headed decisions but at least they seem less keen on moneyhatting to **** block.
@Ralizah My thoughts exactly. They're nearly a decade late here.
I'll still grab in a sale but my hype is focused elsewhere atm. Final Fantasy VII Remake, Mario Tennis Fever, Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, Monster Hunter Stories 3, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave, heck even Fire Emblem Path of Radiance for that matter.
@shoeses I wasn't aware of the DKC Returns co-op issue. I never play those games co-op so its not an issue for me. I'm sure they'll fix it though. Lots of games on the list they have to work through.
Such a great game though, isn't it? And Tropical Freeze. Absolute masterpieces, both of them (I like DKC: TF more though).
I'm gonna be honest, and I'm eating some humble pie saying this, but...
This looks better than Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment.
Now. I'm not saying that means I'll enjoy it more because I do think there's something to be said for these games being themed after a franchise you have an affinity for. But gameplay wise... it actually looks sick.
Always bought for collection reasons but bonus content is a plus!
When I hear people whine about amiibo unlocks I have no sympathy. It's always either stuff you can unlock in-game anyways or stuff that wouldn't have otherwise been included. It's just envy masquerading as morality.
Total sales as of Dec 31st, according to the best estimates available and my own mathematical calculations accounting for reports of "35% less than NS1 Dec 2017 in NA/EU" puts Switch 2 at...
15 million
This is almost certainly underestimated, as I calculated a 35% shortfall vs NS1 2017 in NA/EU for the entire Q3 instead of just December, and we know it outperformed NS1 in Oct and did about the same in Nov. But I'd rather underestimate than overestimate.
This takes the exact numbers known as of Sept 31st, adds the exact numbers known for Japan in Q3, and adds exactly 65% of the NS1 2017 Q3 numbers for NA/EU.
This means they only need to do another 4m, at most, for Jan, Feb and Mar 2026. They're averaging about 1.5m per month so they should land right at their 19m target (though 20m is possible).
Yellow line = 15m Dec 31st estimate
Note of Interest: Switch 2 isn't seeing the same holiday surge spikes Switch 1 saw, but it's also not seeing the same valleys and lows. It's actually a very constant, predictable trajectory, neither speeding up nor slowing down.
I told myself this is the last Tales game I'm buying that doesn't have a dedicated Switch 2 version, or an uncapped framerate to max 60fps on NS2.
I got the PS4 collector edition back in the day (sold off with all my PS/Xbox games last year though). I'll get for Switch but the next Tales game needs to be optimized for NS2 or I'll just pass.
Can run on my chipped Switch OLED and uncap framerate while overclocking to get 60. But this is the last time.
@NintendoByNature I'm also playing on Easy, which is really "Normal" mode. Use save states liberally, since there's no casual mode or rewinds.
@Don I traded swords to other units to temporarily store to avoid dropping. Once you get to base camp later I believe you'll have access to Convoy. No rewinds (would cost too much RAM I think vs older, simpler titles on SNES/GBA), but you can make save states however frequently you like.
Info just broke concerning how Switch 2 will avoid a CPU bottleneck. Apparently it will utilize DLSS, cull NPCs by 50%, reduce foliage and we can already safely assume lower textures.
It also mentioned local wireless multi-player. So ya, it looks like it's happening!
I'm gonna laugh when this game runs just as well if not better than other versions (albeit at 1080p 30 frames but that's a given).
@bnutz2k I actually really dig the visuals in this game. I feel like they nailed it. Looks so much better than Pokopia or even Animal Crossing imo. Granted, it's the same style as Snack World and Fantasy Life on 3DS, but I always liked those.
@N8tiveT3ch 60fps is sometimes too much to ask, yes. Because some of these older games have archaic engines that simply can't support it.
The PS4 and X1 versions also had to cap at 30fps. And Switch 2 is closest in capability to those platforms. Expecting PS5 performance from a PS4 powered handheld is a recipe for disappointment.
Idealists speculate about how the world should be. Realists live in it.
Trails In The Sky 1st Chapter is fantastic. And so glad they added a 60fps performance mode on Switch 2 (on my chipped Switch OLED and custom chipped Switch Lite OLED I overclock while outputting docked image on the handheld screen to lock down a stable 30 with 720p resolution, which is really impressive on a pocketable 6" OLED).
@MamaSymphonia
PS5 makes up for it in Europe and to a lesser extent, the US. They just had a fairly impressive November (first month since June it actually topped the NS2 globally).
Nintendo is more even across the board, selling about the same across the US, EU and JP. Whereas Sony is more lopsided with crazy good EU sales and abysmal JP sales (where even a massive price discount couldn't even budget the needle)
@FrenchVaniIIuxe I can't speak for Assassin's Creed Shadows as it didn't really impress me enough to buy, but judging by those who have played it, it's not a bad game. Perhaps unremarkable, but by no means bad.
I have played Star Wars Outlaws though, and I very much enjoyed my time with it. Because it adds gyro aiming, the moment to moment gameplay is far more engaging than say, if you played some other version.
I will also note that 2 of my favorite games of all time are Ubisoft titles. Trials Rising and Prince of Persia Lost Crown. Actually, I could throw Rayman Legends, Splinter Cell Blacklist (the Wii U version with gyro aiming), Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope in there as well. They'd at least make top 50
@canaryfarmer It's not just about "playing well" it's about quality of the port. It's about Best Practices. It's about Bencharking top examples of how it's done.
@swedetrap I find the Joycon perfectly serviceable. The analogs are 50% larger in diameter than on NS1, or about 225% surface area.
That said, I can't stand playing games without gyro or mouse- using an analog- even on a Pro Controller, with a half inch radius of movement to fine tune aim across the entire screen is dated and archaic. I refuse to play any game with aiming that does not have gyro or mouse aiming integration.
Ergo, Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch is the only version I can stomach.
@Pat_trick I didn't declare victory. I just bullet pointed the evidence. It's not my fault if it grossly leans in favor of my stance and against yours.
Nor is your claim misrepresented. Anyone can go read your post claiming they couldn't just easily cap at 30, despite Switch version doing exactly that.
@DennyCrane It's never about "winning". Most people commenting are tribalists with a predefined worldview warped by their biases and emotionally driven preferences.
It's more about exposing the claims to other readers. I never engage with a debate thinking I will change their mind, even if I present all the evidence in the world. But I can expose the faulty logic for others. And I think I've done that clearly and convincingly.
I'm pointing out my observation that you're rejecting clear evidence as information that should be considered, digested and used to reassess... simply because it attacks your worldview.
@Pat_trick I would say you're not wrong for being angry at the state of this game's release, but direct your anger appropriately. These devs should have set a cap like every other version (and like the Switch 1 version I might add!). That's where the anger should be rightfully directed. That's where mine is directed.
@Pat_trick
All games should be tailored to fit. That's the point. Yet not all devs do that.
Having said that, Final Fantasy VII Remake was heavily tailored to PS4 (the system it was built for) and was heavily tailored to Steamdeck and even has it's own Steamdeck settings in game under graphics profiles.
So you can't say it was "just tailored to Switch 2 and that's why". No. It was tailored to all systems, and Switch 2 runs it better.
So there's no excuse for games like this. The problem here is they were overly ambitious (or downright foolish, hard to say which tbh) and didn't cap at 30, when other similarly powered systems were capped at 30.
When will devs learn to stop rushing games out and patching later? We've been saying that for 10+ years though.
They borked the System Shock 2 remaster with gyro that barely moved at all with no sensitivity settings, and they borked this release by not capping at 30 when all the similarly powered systems run it at 30. I don't mind them going for 60 if they can hit it but if they can't, just cap at 30. Or do 40 for goodness sakes! Why isn't this capped at 40!
@Pat_trick
Every system has limits. "Underpowered" is all perspective. PS4 is underpowered compared to PS4 Pro. PS4 Pro is underpowered compared to PS5. PS5 is underpowered compared to PS5 Pro. PS5 Pro is underpowered compared to PC.
Switch 2 is exactly where it's supposed to be. When it's running Final Fantasy VII Remake better than Steamdeck and PS4, it's perfectly suited to run a game like this. When Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata are releasing day and date because it's so easy to run on Switch 2, it's perfectly suited for games like this.
Anyone can cherry pick bad ports and claim "underpowered". For some games it actually will be underpowered to do them justice. This is not one of them. And 95% of games released thus far, have ran perfectly satisfactory.
@JammyShot
Ya, if you're really in to racing games I can understand the desire to have analog triggers. And I myself do like using them for this genre.
But I rarely play these kinds of games, and when I'm not, I prefer digital triggers. A solution could be analog triggers with hair trigger mode via physical switch that locks it but, Joycon simply wouldn't be able to house a proper alanlog trigger so, I think it's best how it is.
But the NSO GameCube controller works for games like GRID Autosport and Trials Rising (though I'm more skilled using right analog for Trials Rising). Probably will work for this too.
GameChat is seriously under rated. The way you don't need a headset and the algorithm just filters out the game audio so only your voice is heard, is pretty impressive. So easy to screenshare and have live video. I really do love this feature on NS2. All those years of memes about Nintendo Voice Chat. But they finally delivered and boy did they nail it.
Even more impressive though is GameShare. Seeing Split Fiction on my Lite with no perceptible lag to the point it looked and felt native... that's mind-blowing. Like the Wii U gamepad technology perfected. And it even works over the internet!
There's a toggle in settings for "Motion Sensor" and a "Motion Sensitivity" slider for each axis. Plus they said, "no mouse or touch support" but didn't mention no gyro, just like Resident Evil Requiem devs said. And that game is confirmed to have gyro.
So ya... gyro aiming my friends! I'm all in now for sure!
Metroid Prime 4 Pinball
Imagine. The same art style and visual splendor of MP4, with a psychic scan that reveals psychic bumpers/flippers. Imagine laying bombs to open certain new paths and additional balls represented by Engineer Myles McKenzey, Colonel Ezra Duke, Private Nora Armstrong and Sniper Reger Tekabi. HD Rumble 2 for every bounce, every paddle flip, with HDR bringing the intensity of hyperbombs to life.
Metroid Prime 4: Federation Force
I need a new entry in this spinoff series featuring the squad from MP4, with the same visuals and art style of Prime 4 and proper dual analog + gyro aiming, complete with GameShare and GameChat.
Metroid Prime 5
This game was so freaking good, and the characters so endearing, I need a follow up where we can see some of the squad again. And this game does kind of set things up for Metroid Prime 5.
They must be confident if they're releasing a demo.
Capcom almost never releases bad games. So I'm willing to pick this up knowing at worst it'll still be a good time. And I like to support devs who support me. And Capcom has proven they value me as a Switch 2 consumer.
Street Fighter 6
Kunitsu-gami
Resident Evil 7
Resident Evil Village
Resident Evil Requiem
Monster Hunter Stories 3
Pragmata
MegaMan Dual Overdrive
Honestly, between Nintendo dropping a big 1st party exclusive every month, and Capcom going ballistic with both ports of previously released titles and brand new games day and date, I don't have time for anything else. Throw in Square Enix with Final Fantasy VII Remake and Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, and Microsoft with Fallout, Indiana Jones, South from Midnight or whatever it's called, and more on the way like Doom and Ninja Gaiden, probably Gears, Halo and Forza at some point too, it's like... man. Can we submit legislation to change days to 48 hrs cause this isn't working for me
So, there are remasters for both SS1 and SS2 on Switch right now, but SS1 is getting an actual remake for NSW1/NSW2, and later on SS2 is getting a remake as well, is that right?
The best Switch 1/2 games I've played this year are listed below. I'll also name drop a few honorable mentions.
NSW1
Xenoblade Chronicles X
NSW2
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Honorable Mentions
Mario Kart World
Donkey Kong Bonanza
Trails In The Sky 1st Chapter
Split Fiction
Hades II
I also think Cyberpunk 2077 was a phenomenal game, as was Street Fighter 6, and the NSW2 Editions for Zelda Breath of the Wild, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Zelda Link's Awakening, Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, and Pokemon Scarlet/Violet were game-changers, as they fixed the framerate issues and gave us better versions with flawless performance.
I've already crunched every last green crystal in Sol Valley and I'm only 15 hrs in, having just obtained the Ice Chip and upgraded it into the Ice Shot.
It's oddly satisfying cruising around looking for any glimmer of green in my peripheral view. I use the Vi-O-La amiibo to jam out to Volt Forge theme. The ambient default track is ok but that Volt Forge theme is bangin!
I will probably have to make one final round for the big rocks I can't destroy yet, but at least I've mapped out every hexagon and found all the shrines, mech parts and secrets so I can easily hit them later on.
Don't expect many fair reviews beyond this, Giant Bomb and, as odd as this is to say, Logan at IGN. Too many outlets that smelled blood in the water and won't hesitate to pounce.
But I'm swan diving in tomorrow night, that much I can guarantee!
I typically play on Normal- I find Easy not challenging enough and Hard a bit too brutal. But I'm glad the options are there for others. I'm a STRONG believer in difficulty settings unless a game has an online component like Monster Hunter. I never agreed with Souls games not offering difficulty settings (or even the ability to pause) during the single player campaign.
I did this a while back. Bought eShop credit for 10% off at gcx.raise website, so $120 worth credit for $108.
Then I bought 2 vouchers with that credit and used on Metroid Prime 4 and one other game. Then used remaining credit to purchase the upgrades separately for $10/ea.
Meaning I paid $54 for Metroid Prime 4 NSW2 Edition.

Re: PSA: Dynasty Warriors: Origins On Switch 2 Includes A Variable Frame Rate Option
@Ironcore
30 isnt horrendous. There's 2 kinds of 30.
A) Inconsistent frame timing and stuttering movement
B) Flawless frame timing with slight motion blur to blend frames
Option B feels surprisingly smooth. Not all 30 fps is created equal.

I'm pointing out my observation that you're rejecting clear evidence as information that should be considered, digested and used to reassess... simply because it attacks your worldview.
Re: Review: System Shock (Switch 2) - Performance Woes Tarnish A Classic
@Pat_trick
Again, the Switch 1 version has a 30 fps cap.
It's ok to accept evidence as information and not an attack.
Re: Review: System Shock (Switch 2) - Performance Woes Tarnish A Classic
@Pat_trick
I would say you're not wrong for being angry at the state of this game's release, but direct your anger appropriately. These devs should have set a cap like every other version (and like the Switch 1 version I might add!). That's where the anger should be rightfully directed. That's where mine is directed.
Re: Review: System Shock (Switch 2) - Performance Woes Tarnish A Classic
@Pat_trick
I can literally cap any game on my Steamdeck with a toggle. I can literally cap any game on my chipped Switch OLED with a toggle.
It absolutely is that simple. And the original release was literally capped at 30.
Re: Review: System Shock (Switch 2) - Performance Woes Tarnish A Classic
@Pat_trick
Re: Review: System Shock (Switch 2) - Performance Woes Tarnish A Classic
When will devs learn to stop rushing games out and patching later? We've been saying that for 10+ years though.
They borked the System Shock 2 remaster with gyro that barely moved at all with no sensitivity settings, and they borked this release by not capping at 30 when all the similarly powered systems run it at 30. I don't mind them going for 60 if they can hit it but if they can't, just cap at 30. Or do 40 for goodness sakes! Why isn't this capped at 40!
@Pat_trick
Re: GRID Legends: Deluxe Edition Is Racing Onto Switch 2 In Early 2026
@JammyShot
Re: Opinion: Playing Silksong In Co-Op Was A 2025 Hivemind Highlight
GameChat is seriously under rated. The way you don't need a headset and the algorithm just filters out the game audio so only your voice is heard, is pretty impressive. So easy to screenshare and have live video. I really do love this feature on NS2. All those years of memes about Nintendo Voice Chat. But they finally delivered and boy did they nail it.
Even more impressive though is GameShare. Seeing Split Fiction on my Lite with no perceptible lag to the point it looked and felt native... that's mind-blowing. Like the Wii U gamepad technology perfected. And it even works over the internet!
GameShare
Re: Multiple Switch Games Have Received Switch 2 Compatibility Fixes
@Spider-Kev
Also note that RE7, RE8, RE9 and Pragmata will all have gyro aiming on Switch 2!
But don't overlook Monster Hunter Stories 3. That game is looking 🔥
Re: Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Updates Planned For Switch Platforms
I was happy with the high resolution and stable 60 frames which PS4 definitely didn't have.
But if they want to add gyro aiming or make visual improvements, I'm all for it!
Re: Video: Pragmata Hands-On Impressions Shared By Capcom
Steam demo confirms gyro aiming!
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond: Walkthrough, All Collectibles, Tips & Tricks
@datamonkey
Prime 4 has made me want 3 new games:
Re: Video: Pragmata Hands-On Impressions Shared By Capcom
They must be confident if they're releasing a demo.
Capcom almost never releases bad games. So I'm willing to pick this up knowing at worst it'll still be a good time. And I like to support devs who support me. And Capcom has proven they value me as a Switch 2 consumer.
Honestly, between Nintendo dropping a big 1st party exclusive every month, and Capcom going ballistic with both ports of previously released titles and brand new games day and date, I don't have time for anything else. Throw in Square Enix with Final Fantasy VII Remake and Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, and Microsoft with Fallout, Indiana Jones, South from Midnight or whatever it's called, and more on the way like Doom and Ninja Gaiden, probably Gears, Halo and Forza at some point too, it's like... man. Can we submit legislation to change days to 48 hrs cause this isn't working for me
Re: Surprise! Capcom Is Bringing Pragmata To Switch 2, Demo Out Today

Heavy lies the crown
Re: Exclusive: System Shock Remake Hacks Onto Switch & Switch 2 Later This Month
So, there are remasters for both SS1 and SS2 on Switch right now, but SS1 is getting an actual remake for NSW1/NSW2, and later on SS2 is getting a remake as well, is that right?
Re: PSA: If You Want To Use Your Google Pixel As A Webcam On Switch 2, Try It Out Now
I just use the official camera. If I'm in handheld mode I don't need video. The screenshare + audio chat is enough.
Re: Pikmin 4 Fans Hoping For Switch 2 Upgrade After Odd Listing Spotted On The eShop
Pikmin 4, all 3 Xenoblade Chronicles games, Metroid Prime Remastered and Monster Hunter Rise all need NSW2 Editions.
Witcher 3 needs a ground up port like Hogwarts Legacy.
Re: Community: It's Time To Rate Your Switch 1 & 2 Games Of The Year
The best Switch 1/2 games I've played this year are listed below. I'll also name drop a few honorable mentions.
NSW1
NSW2
Honorable Mentions
I also think Cyberpunk 2077 was a phenomenal game, as was Street Fighter 6, and the NSW2 Editions for Zelda Breath of the Wild, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Zelda Link's Awakening, Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, and Pokemon Scarlet/Violet were game-changers, as they fixed the framerate issues and gave us better versions with flawless performance.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond: Green Energy Crystals - How To Find, All Rewards
Re: Review: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (Switch 2) - Samus Returns In Prime Form
Don't expect many fair reviews beyond this, Giant Bomb and, as odd as this is to say, Logan at IGN. Too many outlets that smelled blood in the water and won't hesitate to pounce.
But I'm swan diving in tomorrow night, that much I can guarantee!
Re: WWE 2K25 Online Shutdown Date Revealed Just Months After Switch 2 Release
I mean, online components can't last forever. And annualized titles make even less sense for online to stick around too long, given everyone moves on.
As long as the single player, local co-op, local wireless and local gameshare are there, that's what matters.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Difficulty Settings Revealed By Nintendo
I typically play on Normal- I find Easy not challenging enough and Hard a bit too brutal. But I'm glad the options are there for others. I'm a STRONG believer in difficulty settings unless a game has an online component like Monster Hunter. I never agreed with Souls games not offering difficulty settings (or even the ability to pause) during the single player campaign.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Meet The Team
I want to read, but no... I don't. I can't do spoilers. I refuse.
Re: Nintendo Download: 27th November (North America)
This week is insane! It goes far beyond the listed games.
NSW2 is hitting the slaughterhouse...
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Launch Streams Announced, Watch "Top Streamers" Play
Less than 100 hours til launch!
I havent just been waiting 9 years for this... No. Ive been waiting 18 years for this!
Re: Reminder: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Is Available With A Switch Game Voucher
I did this a while back. Bought eShop credit for 10% off at gcx.raise website, so $120 worth credit for $108.
Then I bought 2 vouchers with that credit and used on Metroid Prime 4 and one other game. Then used remaining credit to purchase the upgrades separately for $10/ea.
Meaning I paid $54 for Metroid Prime 4 NSW2 Edition.
