@SwitchForce No, @SurprisedRobinChu is 100% correct. And nothing they said implied "doom", that's just silly, rephrasing their argument in such a way to attack it.
I don't care what console it is or how well its doing, announcement of a successor WILL drop sales, every single time, no matter what, no exceptions. When word spreads of a new system on the way, it DOES affect consumer spending for the current console. That's a proven economic fact.
Which is precisely why they'll wait until summer to announce Switch 2, with a fall release.
1) Of course it's main business heading into 2024. With Switch 2 releasing this fall, Switch will indeed be their main business heading into this year.
2) Note how they didn't state, "no new hardware this FY" like they usually do. There's a reason for that.
3) Switch will 100% crush the PS2 record. It's 15 million away. By March 2024, it'll be at 142 million, just 13m from the record. By March 2025, Switch tops 150m easily. Even with Switch 2 launching. That's only 8m the entire FY. It'll more than likely be 152-154m, but let's be conservative and just sat 150m.
At that point, Switch could waltz blindfolded over the PS2 record. It hasn't even seen a price drop, and will sell for YEARS into the Switch 2 lifespan. Just wait til $99 Switch Lites hit shelves over a holiday period. Switch will surpass 160 million before it finishes its run.
It's happening. Nothing can stop it now. The PS2 record achieved over 12 years will be shattered by a console in 8 years, likely without a price drop either. And no DVD player to help drive sales.
Take a screenshot. Document it. Mark it on your calendar. Switch shatters the PS2 record sometime mid-2025.
It seems like one of those games that gets it half right. Like Zau. Played the demo for that on Steamdeck. Immediately cancelled my Switch preorder.
Movement feels nice. It's everything else that's the issue. Same 2 enemies for first hour, atrocious level design reminiscent of Mario Maker user levels. Got lost 3 times in linear segments that loop you around a don't really indicate to the player the right way. Found myself trying to jump upstream before I realized no, this isn't right.
And the CONSTANT stopping gameplay to yammer on about meaningless nothingness. Just blabbering conversations for the sake of having dialog I guess.
Take a look at the only Switch accessory you genuinely need:
Mobapad M6 HD
Official HD Rumble using same linear motors as stock joycon
HALL Effect Analogs
Mechanical buttons and d-pad using Omron switches
Gyro
NFC
Individual wireless and system wake
Swappable faceplates with round or octagonal gates
Swappable d-pad with rocker d-pad
Rear mappable buttons
Swappable Analogs
Macros/Turbo
17 hour battery life
Ergonomic, makes Switch OLED transform into a mini Steamdeck
best d-pad I've used in my life, 6 Zangief pile drivers in a row in Ultra Street Fighter II
Bundle with custom case for $6 more, small and petite yet JUST big enough to fit Genki Covert Dock 2, HDMI cable, USB-C cable, Tabletop charge stand, disassembled official charge grip to make joycon into pro controller, and swappable rocker d-pad.
All for $80, same price as official joycon, yet has all official features plus way more
@Cameron_Poe Personally never liked 3D fighters but if that's your thing, I'm pretty sure Switch 2 will be bringing the U-haul truck full of remaining 3rd party games that haven't come to Switch, since they'll be able to run easily, and porting costs and manhours spent optimizing will be exponentially lower.
I am SOOOOO down for this. Though my current Switch OLED is basically perfect. With kickstand and Mobapad M6 HD joycon (HD Rumble, NFC, Gyro, HALL Effect analogs, mechanical buttons and d-pad using Omron switches, d-pad swappable with rocker, swappable analogs, rear mappable buttons, 17 hr battery life, ergonomic and works wireless as single joycon, swappable faceplates with round or octagonal gates, turbo/macros, and best d-pad Ive used in my life nailing 6 Zangief pile drivers in a row). So it's actually a bit of a hard sell going from that to a Lite. Still, I'd like to have one, since the magnetic flip case (or Genkei ForceField) basically makes it pocketable.
@SoIDecidedTo Typically base models release LCD to capture the "never-OLED" crowd, the ones incessantly worried over burn in.
Switch got an OLED refresh, Steamdeck got an OLED refresh, and I'm quite sure Switch 2 will, at some point, get an OLED refresh.
Until then, it's not the end of the world gaming on LCD. A step down for sure, but I managed with Steamdeck until the inevitable upgrade and Switch 2 will be no different. Getting an 8" screen with PS4/Steamdeck power in handheld (+ DLSS) and PS4 Pro power docked (+ DLSS) can help wipe my tears.
We don't care about some triple release all split up with Mega budget cutscenes and graphical excess.
Just give the game to Team Asano. THEY'LL know what to do with it, and it won't take em no 20 freaking years either. 36 months tops, and we'd have the most gorgeous FF remake ever.
I told myself Switch is it. All digital with Switch 2 and Steamdeck after this. And that goes for collectibles also. Any Switch game is fair play but once Switch 2 is out, so are the collectibles.
@-wc- I think it's pretty clearly the hybrid design. 3DS and Wii U only sold a combined 88m. Switch may crack the record. And if you talk to most Switch owners, almost everyone loves it because it's a hybrid.
In any case, it is what it is. And ya, I highly recommend these joycon. The official joycon are fine if you get a Basstop d-pad mod, but these are WAY more ergonomic and rear mappable buttons are so clutch. Plus having a killer d-pad makes a huge difference in enjoying games.
I hope Switch 2 is BC with joycon, because there's no way the official joycon of Switch 2 will rival these. I never want to use another controller again!
@datamonkey Agree. When I got Steamdeck I was bummed about LCD. So happy when Deck OLED released finally. And it'll suck acclimating once again with Switch 2. But, if the LCD is higher quality, just having PS4/Steamdeck power in handheld mode will make up for it. And can always use the Switch OLED for Switch games.
They'll release an OLED version eventually. And I'll be there day 1 to upgrade when they do!
@Dpullam Ya, I'm not expecting BC either. Reason being, the flash cart that just released, and having BC would likely mean including a Switch OS environment which has been hacked to bits with exploits. I think they're gonna want that sewn shut going into next gen.
But it's all good. I've got my Switch OLED with Mobapad M6 HD joycon I can continue to use for Switch games, and I just sent my Splatoon 3 OLED off to get a modchip so I can overclock games and smooth out performance in some of the borderline ones. I already have x3 1.5 TB micro SD full of digital games, so piracy isn't even remotely an interest for me. I own every game worth playing already. But using mods (like the Persona 5 Royal resolution mod which makes the game render 720p in handheld) are what enticed me to get an OLED chipped. That and it's the end of the generation. I was waiting til the final year to do it so the homebrew could mature.
Just ironing out some framerates on uncapped games, like Monster Hunter Stories 2 or Link's Awakening, by blasting the memory bandwidth to to 2k and increasing the CPU and GPU, makes this $120 well spent.
But I'll be getting Switch 2 day 1 regardless. I'm always a day 1 adopter.
@-wc- Nothing wrong with that. Your preferences are your preferences. You like what you like and want what you want.
But I'm sure you understand, with Switch now approaching the PS2 record, the hybrid aspect is the most incredible and popular design we've seen in console gaming since... well, ever. At least the console still caters to how you play (docked). So you can still play the way you want.
With 8 billion people on the planet, you can't please everyone. No device on earth will be exactly what everyone wants. Best they can do is cater to the majority, and ensure the minority still has a way to play how they want (handheld only players can do so, docked only players can do so- might not be how you'd prefer but it's better than them exiting the console space entirely and going handheld only).
Anyways, see my post above for the best joycon on the planet. Best part about Switch is, it provides you with the ability to swap out components if you aren't satisfied. And swapping joycon for Mobpad M6 HD makes playing the system gaming nirvana.
@KingdomTears By the way, the company also mentioned previously they're working to provide displays for an "upcoming console". So 15 mil displays through next March, and they're providing for an upcoming console- there's no other candidate device this could be for.
@defrb No problem. Don't worry about ordering from AliExpress. Just buy from the official Mobapad store. There should be 4 options- M6 S, M6 S + case, M6 HD, M6 HD + case. I recommend getting the package with case as it's only $6 more and it's a perfect case for the Switch with these joycon on.
These feel like they should be official joycon. They're REALLY high quality.
@KingdomTears The main reason that I believe they've guessed incorrectly is that it's really not clear what benefit at all Nintendo would get from a larger, but lower quality display than the one in the latest Switch model.
I don't think that's a reasonable conclusion. It's a new gen, which means new deals are struck for new components, and LCD likely remains a bit cheaper, especially for 8" panels. This is almost certainly for Switch. The producer for Switch expects an increase of around 15 million panels (which coincidentally would be EXACTLY the amount of Switch 2 sales expected from Sept to March), for the exact year everyone from here to Timbuktu expects Switch 2 to release? Come on. It's obviously for Switch 2.
LCD quality has indeed improved, and by launching with an LCD panel, they ensure they capture sales from the never-OLED group of people (and yes, they do exist, the "omg it might burn in!" people). It's always smart to offer a base model with a technology everyone can get on board with, then in a few years offer a revision model with improved OLED screen. Just how Switch did it. Just how Steamdeck did it. And that's how Switch 2 will do it.
1" larger screen will have little impact on graphics, especially when the system is going to have a generational leap in power. I can dock my Steamdeck and games look good on my 55" TV. I'm pretty sure a Switch 2 will look good on an 8" screen. It makes text easier to read for console ports, and users just like bigger screens.
While it's not confirmed, I would estimate this report is 95% likely to be true. Which we'll learn soon enough.
doesn't offer anything new to players - especially those who play mostly docked
What makes you think every aspect of the system must offer something "new"? People like bigger screens. That's all the reason that's needed. And they're obviously not going to omit something just because people who "only play docked" wouldn't benefit. If that were the case they'd never release a hybrid in the first place. After all, it doesn't benefit people who "only play docked". The data shows the vast majority of Switch customers play handheld, or handheld + TV. They're going to appeal to that majority. People who only play docked can continue to do so, but that doesn't mean they're going to just not bother improving the experience for everyone else.
@Qwiff
Fun fact- Steamdeck 800p isn't a higher resolution than 720p. It's an identical resolution, just in 16:10 format instead of 16:9. The extra length of the 16:10 format allows another 80 rows of pixels. But it's the same resolution as 720p in 16:9 format.
And that's the sweet spot for handhelds- best mixture of graphical fidelity, power consumption and battery life. I don't think Switch 2 will use 16:10 as that's a PC thing. Console games are all 16:9 so it'll be 720p.
@TYRANACLES
One of the best things about Switch is it's modular design. If you personally feel the joycon are flimsy, you can use a different pair.
Allow me to introduce to you, the Mobapad M6 HD.
HD Rumble
6-axis Gyro
NFC
Wireless + System Wake
HALL Effect Analogs
Mechanical Buttons (Omron switches)
Triggers toggle between analog/digital
Rear mappable buttons
Swappable D-pad with Rocker D-pad
Swappable Analogs
Swappable Buttons
Swappable Faceplates- both round gates and octagonal gates
Anti-friction rings
Macros and Turbo
17 Hour Battery Life
Ergonomic, makes Switch feel like a mini Steam Deck
Oh, and it's got the best d-pad I've used in my entire life. I nailed 6 Zangief pile drivers in Ultra Street Fighter II, which I've never done with any controller's d-pad before
Get yourself a pair of these, and say goodbye to all your joycon woes. Not only that, these are so feature packed (every official feature + a ton more) I actually prefer to use it with a grip as a Pro Controller OVER their Mobapad M9 HD pro controller which largely has same features, but no mechanical buttons and d-pad isn't swappable or as good. It's still the best pro controller (except maybe King Kong 3 Max which I'll assess when my order arrives) but the Mobapad M6 HD in a grip are so fire, it's hard to use anything else. Disassemble the official charge grip and take the wings off, so it's just the middle slab, and that works perfect for Mobapad.
Note you must order from AliExpress, and the pastel colored ones are the M6 S- they are identical except no HD Rumble. But they're $30 cheaper ($50 vs $80).
It really is an excellent game of the utmost quality.
There were just a lot of other games releasing at the time, and most people couldn't afford (or make time for) everything. But in due course of time, people are coming around.
I hope people show up for Prince of Persia as well. Top shelf games should be supported, especially when they're Switch versions of a multiplat that look 95% as good as the ones drawing 200 watts.
Personally, I feel like this game might should have deserved the full 10
To early to say but from extensive research and now playing the demo, I'd rank it alongside Metroid Dread and both Ori games. All of which I regard as 10/10 games
Go download the demo. This is one of those rare gems that will end up regarded as one of the genre's finest alongside Metroid Dread, Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori Will of the Wisps, for many years to come.
And the Switch version is particularly impressive. It looks great, it runs smooth, and the precision mechanics have virtual no latency. It's a really impressive game.
Switch 2 is definitely coming this year. If it weren't we'd have seen a revision in 2023, two years after the 2021 OLED, to push sales another 2 years to 2025. No revision = 100% guaranteed Switch 2 in 2024
The lineup also makes it more than obvious this is the tail end in the run up to Switch 2.
Expect a crap load of 3rd party games to be announced for Switch 2 in that first year as the gold rush for early adopter dollars turns into a mania
I've put a moratorium on any further Steamdeck purchases until Switch 2, as I expect we'll see ports of Baldurs Gate 3, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Dragon's Dogma 2, Monster Hunter Wilds, Visions of Mana, Persona 3 Remake, etc. Not all will be day and date, but they'll all make their way over at some point.
@TrixieSparkle The Steam Deck currently fills in any gaps that the Switch has
A person of fine taste and culture as well, I see
Switch OLED + Steamdeck OLED = the best combination of gaming systems I've ever owned. Straight up.
2 systems, and together they offer Switch exclusives, PS exclusives, Xbox exclusives, virtually all 3rd party games, with gyro aiming for the vast majority of games that benefit from it (there's the occasional Switch release that doesn't include it or Steam game that doesn't allow mouse to map to gyro correctly but those are rare exceptions), both offer portable play on OLED screens, can connect to TV for console play (bonus points for Switch tabletop mode with detachable controllers), and are easy to jump in and out of games with
I no longer use my PS5, XSX or beefy gaming PC. Not because they're bad systems, not by any means. It's just that Switch OLED + Deck OLED is so good, so flexible, that reverting back to tv-tethered feels dated and restrictive.
Switch OLED + Deck OLED together are truly the best combination of gaming consoles ever conceived.
Set up Prime Trilogy using Primehack with dual analog gyro aiming, and HD texture mods with HD text and menus, and it's exceptional. I'll buy Prime 2 Remastered if/when it releases on Switch 1/2 but until then, this is almost just as good. Also got Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines working on Deck with the unofficial patch installed, gyro aiming and all. Muah!
Back to Divinity Original Sin 2, Pillars of Eternity, Persona 5 Tactica, Mario RPG, Mario Wonder, Pikmin 4, Red Dead Redemption and Batman Arkham Asylum on Switch OLED, and on Deck OLED, Baldur's Gate 3, Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines, Metroid Prime 2, Pillars of Eternity 2, Hogwarts Legacy, Serious Sam 3...
It's just so good. I can't wait for Switch 2, it just sucks cause I know they're gonna regress back to LCD, only releasing an OLED revision several years after.
They "could" but they won't. Switch 2 is coming 2024, and here's why
Assume Switch 2 isn't releasing until 2025. If that were the case, what would we expect to have seen?
We'd have seen a final revision in 2023, which was 2 years after the 2021 OLED, that was 2 years after the 2019 Lite, that was 2 years after the 2017 launch. No way they'd go 2021 to 2025- FOUR FULL YEARS, without a revision to carry sales the tail end of the generation. If Switch 2 were coming 2025 we'd have seen one final revision in 2023.
OLED model case doesn't crack, and tempered glass screen protector is a must anyways so scratching was never an issue for me.
In truth, I never experienced drift in all my years. So Im not that concerned about it. I know many did (my bro had both joycon with bad drift). I think it's how hard you use them, only explanation for why I never experienced it. Still, make analogs more resilient for sure.
I'd love OLED at launch but I suspect they're reverting to LCD which SUUUUCKS so much.
I just want OLED screen, with SSD and expandable 2232 m.2 NVMe drive like Steamdeck. That way I can expand to 2TB storage. MicroSD slot should also be included, since 1.5 TB are out now and 2 TB releasing within next 90 days. Even if the micro SD is only allowed to play Switch games for BC, Nintendo Online games, etc, while Switch 2 games must run from SSD, that's fine. A 2TB microSD for my Switch games and a 2TB 2232 NVMe for Switch 2 games.
That's all I want. Expandable NVMe with OLED screen. I'm not high maintenance.
Great list! Be it new games, remasters and remakes, 3rd party games, a great game is a great game. Here's my top recommended Switch games, in NO PARTICULAR ORDER

@Ralizah I'd have gone with Shantae Seven Sirens myself. But agree, Pirates Curse over Half Genie Hero for sure.
@Aerona Having a decent pc is so freeing. I don't have to care about Nintendo's third party support anymore
That's certainly an advantage to owning more than one console.
For many of us though, we own PS5, XSX, PC and SteamDeck OLED. But still care about Nintendo 3rd party support because of its hybrid nature. I'll always take a quality Switch port over playing anywhere else. Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Red Dead Redemption... these are good examples.
But for compromised Switch ports, it's a blessing to have an alternate way of playing. For me that's SteamDeck OLED. Sure. I have a PS5 and XSX and beefy gaming PC, but only ever play Switch OLED and Deck OLED.
At this point, I'm hoping all demanding 3rd party games be moved over to Switch 2 so we can get quality ports that offer the hybrid advantage. But in case any games don't come, having Deck OLED as backup feels almost mandatory for me. The combination of those two systems covers 99.5% of all games released (including Xbox exclusives and PS exclusives), offer gyro aiming for the vast majority of games that benefit from it, offer versatility of handheld play or TV play (and even tabletop with removable controllers for Switch which is a nice cherry on top), OLED screens and easy in and out gaming sessions.
If you're not into portable gaming, may not be ideal for you but if you are, highly recommend the Switch OLED + SteamDeck OLED combo. Legit rendered all my other consoles undesirable. That's not a knock against PS5/XSX/PC, just that if you value that kind of freedom, it makes playing games on bulky tv-tethered hardware feel rather dated and restrictive by comparison. But if you prefer the home console setup I do think PC is the way to go, as you can map gyro to nearly any game with Steam Input.
@Dazman Baldur's Gate would melt the switch. The console simply cannot do it
It could definitely do it (see the excellent Divinity Original Sin 2 port) but it would be severely compromised, and that would make the experience suffer. For that reason it's best all such games be developed for Switch 2 at this point.
It's not that they "can't" run on Switch, it's just that the games would be heavily compromised, and with us being so close to next gen, there's simply no reason to put in the work for a Switch port when a Switch 2 release could easily run at native res, look amazing and the work required porting it wouldn't be nearly as intensive.
And, there's always a gold rush with new consoles as devs vye for those early adoptor dollars when software competition is near non-existant, and will then continue to sell all generation long. Skyrim is a good example. That game has sold many millions of copies on Switch, despite its age when it released. A game like BG3 releasing in the launch window of Switch 2 would easily smash several million copies sold over the generation. Not sure that would be the case with a compromised Switch release, especially now at the end of it's lifespan.
I think games like Baldur's Gate 3 will certainly come, but to Switch 2. Not Switch.
And that's for the best. Switch wouldn't be able to do it justice. Divinity Original Sin 2 is an exceptional Switch port, but BG3 is notably more demanding. That's a game we should all want to wait for Switch 2. I've got on Deck and it runs beautifully, so Switch 2 would easily rock that game in full splendor.
I think it's best most demanding ports be put on pause for Switch 2 at this point. Let's not see these gems wasted on Switch when we're so close to the next generation.
For games that can run, by all means. But demanding 8th/9th gen 3rd party titles, those should all have development moved over to Switch 2 dev kits at this point.
I'm fairly confident Laryan is already working on BG3 for Switch 2, Capcom probably has Monster Hunter Wilds in development for Switch 2 also. Lots of games are going to flood in that first 12-18 months post-Switch2 release. Not all will be day and date but they'll come. Once the games can run fine, they're gonna pour in by the truckload, especially with Switch now closing the final 20 million gap to the all time record. It's gonna be a gold rush when Switch 2 launches, of that you can be sure.
Pretty incredible we're going to have Mario RPG remake, Paper Mario Thousand Year Door Remaster, Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope all on one single hybrid handheld system.
I do hope it's BC, but if it's not, it won't be that big a deal for me. I won't really have space for Switch games anyways, as I've already filled my 1.5 TB microSD card and then some.
Started playing this game. Still pretty early on, about 4 hours in. But I really like it.
The story and mystery just sucks you in. The game is gorgeous too, and the voice acting is truly, truly spectacular.
I got turned on to this style of game with Danganronpa, AI Somnium Files and Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. Though I only partially played each one, it was enough to know I do like these kinds of games.
At first glance one might see bright, colorful 2D Mario and think it looks similar, but one only need watch the full trailer to see this is a gargantuan leap away from NSMBU.
Let's be clear. The issue with NSMBU was threefold: 1) the clinical corporate visuals and 2) the fact 4 games released re-using said clinical corporate visuals, 3) the lack of creativity
Right off the bat, this game is not re-using the New visuals, so two major points of contention are immediately addressed. Furthermore, the game oozes with creativity and charm, perhaps more so than any other Mario game we've seen to date.
From the lavish animations completely reworked, to the insane LSD trip stage design, to dynamic backgrounds and environments, to the insane variety of gameplay mechanics on display, this game puts past 2D Mario entries to utter shame.
This is the true sequel to Super Mario World we've been waiting 30 years for. Every single 2D Mario, from Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World were both different and toyed with experimental new designs and gameplay concepts. The New series was quality, make no mistake, but repeating it 4 times really wore thin. And it didn't really offer anything new, mechanically speaking.
This is the true sequel to Super Mario World. And I'm there for it.
Persona 5 Tactics is the one I'm most excited for. Never liked P3 nearly as much as P4 and P5. I'm definitely interested, but the Tactics game is where it's at.
If it actually worked like Wii U and didn't require wifi network, and was $99, I'd probably get one.
But as I understand it, it needs wifi which absolutely sucks. And it'll probably be $300, minimum. Because if anyone prices hardware even higher than Nintendo, it's Sony. So it's a no go.
I genuinely loved the Wii U, but now with Switch OLED, it feels less impressive in hindsight. Still, I'd be down for a Wii U off TV play experience if it didn't require separate wifi and was cheap.
Sony is king of circle jerking themselves in any way possible.
They're doing great with PS5. But throwing up some convoluted chart doesn't change the fact Switch is the market leader now, not PlayStation. I think they're so used to winning when they had no competition they don't know how to cope now that they're no longer wearing the crown.
I'm certainly no completionist, so that rules out all the "do every this/that" choices.
But I'm also not sticking to the main story either. I'm just exploring, then doing some quests that interest me, when I feel like advancing the main story I will. Rinse and repeat.
In BotW, I ended up getting about 85% of the shrines and 50% of the Koroks. I imagine it'll be similar for Tears
With Nintendo expanding out into other media with merch, theme parks and movies, now breaking box office records and supplanting Disney as the new family-friendly brand you can trust, I suspect we're about to witness the birth of a new era, where this generation's kids grow up and far surpass the breadth of the current OG fanbase.

1) Of course it's main business heading into 2024. With Switch 2 releasing this fall, Switch will indeed be their main business heading into this year.

Re: Review: GRIME Definitive Edition (Switch) - A Poor Port Of A Superb Soulslike Metroidvania
Game didn't look too superb to me.
When I look at Grime, I see another one of those.
Re: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For February And March 2024
Take a look at the only Switch accessory you genuinely need:
Mobapad M6 HD
All for $80, same price as official joycon, yet has all official features plus way more
Re: "Capcom And SNK" Inspired Arcade Fighter Blazing Strike Locks In Summer 2024 Switch Release
@Cameron_Poe
Personally never liked 3D fighters but if that's your thing, I'm pretty sure Switch 2 will be bringing the U-haul truck full of remaining 3rd party games that haven't come to Switch, since they'll be able to run easily, and porting costs and manhours spent optimizing will be exponentially lower.
Re: Random: Handheld Specialist Creates Prototype 'Switch Lite OLED' Mod
@SoIDecidedTo
Typically base models release LCD to capture the "never-OLED" crowd, the ones incessantly worried over burn in.
Re: Analysts Doubt 'Switch 2' Will Be Able To Top Switch's Mighty Sales Numbers
I agree.
But that kinda goes without saying. It's not every generation a console rivals the PS2/DS record.
Re: Don't Expect A Remake Of Final Fantasy 6 Soon, If Ever
We don't care about some triple release all split up with Mega budget cutscenes and graphical excess.
Just give the game to Team Asano. THEY'LL know what to do with it, and it won't take em no 20 freaking years either. 36 months tops, and we'd have the most gorgeous FF remake ever.
Re: Good Smile Company Reveals Fire Emblem Engage Alear Figure, Pre-Orders Now Open
@Ryu_Niiyama
I hear you. Same.
I told myself Switch is it. All digital with Switch 2 and Steamdeck after this. And that goes for collectibles also. Any Switch game is fair play but once Switch 2 is out, so are the collectibles.
This one will complete the set I think.
Re: Review: Hitman: Blood Money - Reprisal (Switch) - Small But Potent QoL Additions Keep 47 Spry
This game is so fun. The gyro aiming is what sets it off. I wouldn't be able to play it without the gyro.
I just beat the first mission, and ya, I'm really liking it.
Re: 'Switch 2' Launching This Year With 8-Inch LCD Screen, According To New Analyst Rumour
@-wc-
I think it's pretty clearly the hybrid design.
@datamonkey
Agree.
Re: 'Switch 2' Launching This Year With 8-Inch LCD Screen, According To New Analyst Rumour
@Dpullam
Ya, I'm not expecting BC either.
Re: 'Switch 2' Launching This Year With 8-Inch LCD Screen, According To New Analyst Rumour
@-wc-
Nothing wrong with that.
@KingdomTears
By the way, the company also mentioned previously they're working to provide displays for an "upcoming console". So 15 mil displays through next March, and they're providing for an upcoming console- there's no other candidate device this could be for.
@defrb
No problem.
Re: 'Switch 2' Launching This Year With 8-Inch LCD Screen, According To New Analyst Rumour
@KingdomTears
The main reason that I believe they've guessed incorrectly is that it's really not clear what benefit at all Nintendo would get from a larger, but lower quality display than the one in the latest Switch model.
@Qwiff
Re: 'Switch 2' Launching This Year With 8-Inch LCD Screen, According To New Analyst Rumour
@TYRANACLES
One of the best things about Switch is it's modular design. If you personally feel the joycon are flimsy, you can use a different pair.
Allow me to introduce to you, the Mobapad M6 HD.
Re: Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope Has Reportedly Sold Almost 3 Million Copies
It really is an excellent game of the utmost quality.
There were just a lot of other games releasing at the time, and most people couldn't afford (or make time for) everything. But in due course of time, people are coming around.
I hope people show up for Prince of Persia as well. Top shelf games should be supported, especially when they're Switch versions of a multiplat that look 95% as good as the ones drawing 200 watts.
Re: Review: Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown (Switch) - Slick, Stylish, And 2024's First Must-Play
Personally, I feel like this game might should have deserved the full 10
To early to say but from extensive research and now playing the demo, I'd rank it alongside Metroid Dread and both Ori games. All of which I regard as 10/10 games
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown
This game is straight 🔥 🔥 🔥 for real!
Re: 'Switch 2' Will Be An Iterative Evolution And Will Cost $400, Predicts Analyst
Re: Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown Switch Frame Rate, Resolution & Accessibility Revealed
Sounds like they really did a good job with this one on Switch
Already preordered.
Re: Soapbox: It Feels Like Everyone Forgot The Best Switch RPG Of The Year
No lie, Octopath Traveler 2 is a masterpiece, and grossly overlooked due to the controversy of OT1.
It's a must play gem alongside Triangle Strategy. Don't sleep.
Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo Go Another Year Without A Switch Successor?
@TrixieSparkle
The Steam Deck currently fills in any gaps that the Switch has
A person of fine taste and culture as well, I see
Switch OLED + Steamdeck OLED = the best combination of gaming systems I've ever owned.
Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo Go Another Year Without A Switch Successor?
No 2023 Switch Revision = Guaranteed, 100% Switch 2 2024 Release
Re: Talking Point: Along With Joy-Con Drift, What Does Nintendo Have To 'Fix' With 'Switch 2'?
Re: 50 Best Nintendo Switch Games To Play Right Now (2024)
Great list! Be it new games, remasters and remakes, 3rd party games, a great game is a great game. Here's my top recommended Switch games, in NO PARTICULAR ORDER
HONORABLE MENTION NEXT 50
@Ralizah
I'd have gone with Shantae Seven Sirens myself. But agree, Pirates Curse over Half Genie Hero for sure.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2024
@Aerona
Having a decent pc is so freeing.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2024
@Dazman
Baldur's Gate would melt the switch.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2024
I think games like Baldur's Gate 3 will certainly come, but to Switch 2.
Re: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Rated For Switch By ESRB
Pretty incredible we're going to have Mario RPG remake, Paper Mario Thousand Year Door Remaster, Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope all on one single hybrid handheld system.
Re: Soapbox: 'Switch 2' Doesn't Really Need Backwards Compatibility
I do hope it's BC, but if it's not, it won't be that big a deal for me. I won't really have space for Switch games anyways, as I've already filled my 1.5 TB microSD card and then some.
Re: Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition Announced For Switch
Game was leaked a while ago. Same with Batman Arkham.
And here we are, both releasing in October!
As long as it has gyro (and it should- all 3 other Borderlands games had gyro on Switch) I'm all over it
Re: Newgrounds Classic 'Alien Hominid' Returns In HD Remaster On Switch
Oh this is great news! Love seeing the classics make their way to Switch.
Speaking of which, whatever happened to that Braid Switch release?
Re: Vampire Survivors Tops The Switch eShop Charts In US, UK & Japan
@NintendoByNature
For only $5 it's easy to justify, even if you have it on Xbox.
This game feels meant for Switch OLED. And while I haven't tried it yet I hear it has local multiplayer you can play in tabletop mode? That's amazing.
I love how Switch now gets the lion's share of indie gems from Steam.
Re: Soapbox: Red Dead Redemption Ignited My Enduring Love Of The Old West
Ya, I had my Awakening to westerns about 10 years ago. Just recently got the Dollars Trilogy and Unforgiven in 4k bluray for the movie collection.
The first Red Dead is so much easier to play than RDR2. I really like it, and having it on Switch, as an exceptional port at that, is a dream.
Re: Talking Point: Has Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition On Switch Improved Since Launch?
Ya, fair assessment.
They're definitely in a playable state now and I can recommend to anyone interested. Albeit with the understanding they should have been even better.
But still. If you want the classic GTA experience on Switch, it's now on the menu without any serious strings attached.
Re: Review: Master Detective Archives: Rain Code - Macabre Mysteries, A Captivating Cast, A Few Frustrations
Re: Talking Point: Is Super Mario Bros. Wonder Really A Departure From The 'New' Series?
Norman got his pictures mixed up.
Anyways, it's night and day.
Re: Poll: Are You Still Playing Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?
I'm kinda close to being done now at 100 hrs. There's still TONS left to do, but I'm not a completionist. I expect I'll finish at around 130 hr mark.
Re: Zelda: TOTK Players Discover Simple Way To Make Rupees With 'Frozen Meat Glitch'
Now that's a proper tag line.
Re: Atlus Officially Confirms Persona 5 Tactica For Nintendo Switch
Persona 5 Tactics is the one I'm most excited for. Never liked P3 nearly as much as P4 and P5. I'm definitely interested, but the Tactics game is where it's at.
That said, it's coming.
Re: Poll: Are You Excited About Ubisoft's Metroidvania "Inspired" Prince Of Persia Platformer?
On a scale of 1 to 10... I'd say I'm at a 7
Gameplay looks promising. Hated the corny try-hard trailer music, but it's just trailer music. Can't hold that against the game.
Re: Random: Sony's Upcoming 'Project Q' Is A Little More Wii U Than Switch
If it actually worked like Wii U and didn't require wifi network, and was $99, I'd probably get one.
But as I understand it, it needs wifi which absolutely sucks. And it'll probably be $300, minimum. Because if anyone prices hardware even higher than Nintendo, it's Sony. So it's a no go.
I genuinely loved the Wii U, but now with Switch OLED, it feels less impressive in hindsight. Still, I'd be down for a Wii U off TV play experience if it didn't require separate wifi and was cheap.
Re: Random: Nintendo's Brand Momentum Has Been Flat Since 2018, Says Sony
Sony is king of circle jerking themselves in any way possible.
They're doing great with PS5. But throwing up some convoluted chart doesn't change the fact Switch is the market leader now, not PlayStation. I think they're so used to winning when they had no competition they don't know how to cope now that they're no longer wearing the crown.
Re: Zelda: TOTK Playtimes Start To Appear, And Some People Haven't Been Getting A Lot Of Sleep
55 hours, feels like more.
Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom: Where To Find Hestu
I hear you have to do the first Dungeon before he spawns in Lookout Landing?
I already did his initial quest but he's not in Lookout Landing for me.
edit
Nevermind. He was there. I just didn't see him. So no, you don't have to do the first Dungeon.
Re: Poll: What's Your Game Plan For Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?
None of the above
I'm certainly no completionist, so that rules out all the "do every this/that" choices.
But I'm also not sticking to the main story either. I'm just exploring, then doing some quests that interest me, when I feel like advancing the main story I will. Rinse and repeat.
In BotW, I ended up getting about 85% of the shrines and 50% of the Koroks. I imagine it'll be similar for Tears
