PS4 power seems really underwhelming. I mean, I was playing Bloodborne 9 years ago. Even as a handheld device, I feel like something more powerful should be on offer here. Especially since Nintendo is no longer the only game in town in the handheld market. I suppose it's always possible there is some other innovation we don't know about but all the leaks seem to point to a more powerful Switch.
Agree with the people saying it didn't click for them. I put a good 25 hours into but found it more frustrating than fun. By comparison, preferred both Bloodstained and Ender Lilies. Unfortunately I also just gave Deaths Gambit a shot and I'm not really digging that one at all.
This is one of those games that's really good but also kinda disappointing because the hype. It's not Chrono Trigger but it's better than the vast majority of JRPGs that have come out in recent years.
Rarely when games take this long do they live up to expectations. Unless they're doing something wildly different than the first game, it seems like this should have been quicker.
I remember putting about 20 hours into it, but the difficulty eventually made me tap out. I felt like there were moments where I was forced to travel the map quite far only to lose to a boss and have to travel the same part of the map all over again. I also don't remember there being a leveling system so simply grinding to better the bosses was not an option. Overall I see it as a quality game that didn't quite click with me as much as something like Ender Lilies or Salt and Sanctuary.
Witcher 3. The game is massive but not nearly as good as it's made out to be. I'll probably play around with it a bit longer and then find a rogue like to play for awhile.
Octopath Traveler 2 sold less because a lot of people like me bought Octopath Traveler 1 and didn't really like it. Bosses that are piles of HP and hit or miss storylines that don't really tie together weren't really my thing. Admittedly, I would like to try a Saga game, even after the bad taste Unlimited Saga left in my mouth many years ago, but I don't even know where to start with that series.
@KnightsTemplar I own SO2 physical. It's a great remaster of a great game. I do agree if you're talking about SO1. I would only buy that if they released it physically.
I love the switch design. I'd be okay with a more modern and higher quality build. The joy cons need to stay, but just fix the drift issues. I'd be fine if the screen is the same size but we at least get 1080p. I'm hopeful for Xbox series S power but I'm expecting something closer to PS4.
I'm baffled by the confusion over and hatred of Xenoblade 2s combat. You spend 60 hours in combat, don't you eventually figure it out? It wasn't that complicated.
@LikelySatan that's because I meant Bethesda. Kind of reminds me of outer worlds, but I think this runs better than that did on switch. err... Obsidian, I'll get it right eventually.
Hogwarts Legacy... Solid RPG in the style of Blizzard games. Performs admirably on the switch. Picked up Star Ocean Second Story R as well but that will be next.
It's about balance. Play games, play sports, make art, and do work or study. Gaming can be addictive and at some point it can become unhealthy, but that's a miniscule percentage of gamers. For the most part, I think gaming keeps a lot of young people out of trouble and that's a good thing.
@Smurfy0730 I enjoyed Cross Code a lot but the twin sticks gameplay isn't for everyone. I think I would have liked it more as a hack n slash style RPG like Secret of Mana. The story, however, was excellent. Anyone that has played and enjoyed MMORPGs should check it out.
Dread I agree with, but I'd put Metroid 2 a lot higher, like possibly even second place higher. Not a fan of the Other M or Prime designs to be totally honest.
After two prior attempts, finally mustered up the courage to play Amnesia: The Dark Descent around Thanksgiving. The game was so brilliant I jumped right into A Machine for Pigs which I'll be finishing up this weekend.
I was ready to drop it after 7 to 10 hours but the story does end up improving so I'm glad I stuck with it. The characters are okay outside of the two completely boring leads. My biggest issue is an issue I have with most modern JRPGs and it's that they're not really RPGs. Progression is very limited and levels tend to be capped to ensure you never become over powered. I long for the days of FF6 when if you wanted to grind and over level, that was your choice to make. And still that game had challenging and strategic fights. Nowadays, most RPGs ensure you're always at the appropriate level with the appropriate skills, nothing more nothing less, and it seems like lazy game design to me.
My guess is Switch 2 is sub PS4 levels. I don't like it but I've read this book before. As Nintendo fans, we just need to realize that we will not only never have cutting edge graphics, but that were probably going to be a generation and a half behind. Hopefully Nintendo makes up for it in other ways.
I'm just trying to figure out what these comments mean. The sentiment is it's outdated, too expensive, and unnecessary, yet you all cherish the memories? To me, E3 was the most fun time of year for gaming announcements and nothing has replaced it and probably never will. I don't find Directs to be all that compelling. I don't dispute the expenses involved to participate, but I'm not going to lie and say it's some relic or the past and good riddance.
Is Blast Corps on Switch yet. I feel like most games from this era, 1080 included, haven't aged particularly well, but Blast Corps was so unique there has never been another game like it to compare it to. As far as 1080 goes, I remember thinking it was pretty light on content even back in the day, but I did drop countless hours in the half pipe. I remember being blown away by how the coats moved in the breeze as the boarders zoomed down the hill.
For a game that's 90 percent download, why not just release them separately as eshop games? I have the trilogy on series S and from what I played of the third game, switch players aren't missing much.
I'm confused as to why you would review this game. It's been out on other platforms forever and everyone knows how it plays. Technical analysis of the port can undoubtedly be found all over the internet.

Neat. Isolation is a great game and I'm hearing Romulus is a return to form for the series in theaters.

Why isn't Terranigma on the Switch? The late SNES era produced the greatest JRPGs of all time and they should all be on the Switch.

I'm sorry I just don't trust anyone named Geoff.
Re: Soapbox: The Erdrick Trilogy Is The Right 'Dragon Quest' For The HD-2D Treatment
The original trilogy is great but Id love to get 4 through 7 on Switch, as they're the only ones I haven't played.
As for the style, I greatly prefer the style of the Star Ocean 2 remake to the traditional HD-2D look, but I'll take what I can get.

Banjo was one of the best looking N64 games. This game, at least in stills, doesn't even come close to Banjo.

The movie was okay. The art style looked good in stills but was jarring in motion. Interested in this for the co-op.
Re: Nintendo Direct February 2024: Every Announcement, Game Reveal, Trailer
News of the Switch 2 delay followed by this debacle. Not a great week for Nintendo. That said, I will buy Ender Magnolia.
