Re: Talking Point: How Are You Finding Mario Kart's Open World?

FredsBodyDouble

Not a huge fan. The rewards are lacking, there is no tracking system, and the world itself feels very lifeless. Other racing games have done the open world much better. Hopefully Nintendo adds some updates down the road to improve this experience. The racing itself is very solid. I'm working my way through all the trophies before jumping into multiplayer.

Re: Randy Pitchford Defends Borderlands 4 Pricing Comment

Borderlands is the type of game I'd only get on a steep discount anyways. The truth is everything cost more now than it did 5-10 years ago. In the grand scheme of things, games probably haven't gone up as much as many other items. Hell, I spent 70 bucks on. Street Fighter 2 Turbo SNES cart when I was a kid. I'll be willing to pay 80 for my favorite games, but the vast majority of games I buy are on sale.

Re: Opinion: A Few Too Many Questions & Unwelcome Surprises Are Taking The Shine Off The Switch 2 Reveal

All other publishers love that Nintendo is pioneering the 79.99 price tag. They're one of the few company's that have enough customer loyalty to get away with it and move it toward being the market standard. Gaming is still a relatively inexpensive hobby in the grand scheme of things, and everything is up in price over the last few years, so while disappointing, the higher game prices isn't surprising.

Re: Talking Point: Did All The Switch 2 Leaks 'Damage' Nintendo Or The Console's Reveal?

FredsBodyDouble

Nintendo ruined their own reveal by not showcasing any software. They revealed a console that looks almost identical to a decade all console, revealed 10 seconds of one game that was fairly predictable as a launch title, and told us zilch about what we all assume will be underpowered inners. I always thought it was okay Nintendo was behind a generation because they're always doing something different (wiimote, wii u gamepad, dual screens on the DS family). This doesn't look nearly different enough to warrant being last gen in terms of specs.

Re: Digital Foundry Weighs In On 'Switch 2' Motherboard - Just How Powerful Is It?

FredsBodyDouble

PS4 power seems really underwhelming. I mean, I was playing Bloodborne 9 years ago. Even as a handheld device, I feel like something more powerful should be on offer here. Especially since Nintendo is no longer the only game in town in the handheld market. I suppose it's always possible there is some other innovation we don't know about but all the leaks seem to point to a more powerful Switch.
