I played it back in the day and found it pretty boring and generic.

Looks a little generic. The PT demo was fine but I don't really get the cult status it has gained over the years. Silent Hill 2 will always be my favorite horror game.

Very cool. Hope it's good. Really like the 32 bit style.

Radiant Historia was a great game. Easily would have been comparable to some of the best from the PSOne era of JRPGs.

I just started this, just got the bow and arrow and like it so far. Not spectacular yet but very solid and a good port to boot.

I just started Immortals Fenix Rising today on Switch. Have no idea how it compares to other platforms but it runs smooth and is perfectly playable. Whatever compromises were made didn't affect the playability of the game. If the compromises impact playability, then maybe the game shouldn't be on the Switch platform. I love Apex but I can't imagine playing it without the ability to spot enemies at distance. I can live with 30 fps as I lived through the PSOne and N64 era, but I can't live with a game not playable as it was originally intended.

@Zeldafan79 it's a bad game. Avoid it not because it's simple, but rather because it's not fun. Super Mario Rpg is a great example of a really great simple RPG.

Disappointed the screen will only be 720p. I feel like the handheld screen as is holds the switch back quite a bit. Maybe this one will at least be a little bigger. I expect a very modest upgrade.

I don't get the score... You'd think having lawnmowers in the game would warrant at least a 6 or 7, even with the other minor issues. Whatever, can't cancel my preorder now.

@Deady weird. There were certain games from that era where the music literally hurts my ears. Also, played Rygar when I was home sick as a kid, to this day the thought of the game makes me queasy.

To me it is the best the series offers. Puzzles, dungeon design, overworld, music... It was the template for "traditional" zelda games for 2 decades and arguably was never bested. I look forward to Zelda continuing with the new template Breath of the Wild setup.

This article makes me want to play A Link Between Worlds... I missed it upon initial release so hoping it gets the HD treatment some time in the future.

@OlosNah hated how repetitive the first game was... Hoping Bravely Default 2 is different in that regard.

Outer Worlds. Hoping to finish it and maybe have a look at the DLC. Great game. BD2 is on my wishlist along with 3D World.

This kind of stuff shouldn't even be released. Too bad as it sounds like there is a decent game buried somewhere behind the technical mess.

I loved mario golf on n64. Will possibly get this but not sure of when.

OoT felt like 3D A Link to the Past. ALttP did it first and better in my opinion, though I generally agree with the top 3, just not in the order they came in.

A lot of people playing this in the bathroom. Did they consider cleaning product to occasionally disinfect the Switch?

I think I will get this. I've read some aspects are disappointing but that the dungeons really shine. I haven't played the traditional Zelda formula in ages and this is the only main series game I have not played at all.

I actually liked Star Fox Adventures. Too bad, like F Zero, the franchise is just seemingly being ignored now. Starlink was okay but it wasn't a real Star Fox game.

I will be all over this.

I love the Marvel movies but haven't any desire to watch the TV shows for some reason...

I will be getting this. Never played the original, but seemingly every RPG from this era is better than 90 percent of those that came later. The golden era for sure in my opinion. Oh if the N64 would have been disc-based....

People are disappointed because instead of flagship series (new Zelda, Mario, Metroid, F Zero, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, Star Fox), we get old ports, remasters, Mario Golf, and Splatoon from Nintendo. I like Splatoon but not enough to save this Direct.

All in all, pretty underwhelming direct. The Square Enix remakes, Zelda remake, and Splat 3 are all cool but no Metroid news and nothing really surprising... starting with Xeno and having it be just a smash character was disappointing.

Can we date Parvati in this expansion?

Mario Kart 64 is also available to play on Nintendo 64. I know it's a strange idea in 2021 to hook up a game console to play a game, but it still works.

More shocked that someone was actually surfing the Edge store to find this out.

Let's just hope it's better than Suikoden 4.

Tales of Vesperia is on sale all the time. Would like more Tales games on the switch... Seems like Berseria would be possible if they'd port it over.

@Kilamanjaro I agree the genre is getting tiring. I enjoyed Rogue Legacy and Dead Cells quite a bit. Hades was great but I couldn't bring myself to play it much beyond a handful of escapes. Eventually the loop gets repetitive and that sort of carries from one game to the next. Right now there are so many good ones (and admittedly most probably better than something like Rogue Legacy that came out years ago) but I'm not sure I will ever play them. Like you said, looking forward to returning to these kinds of games after I have a little break.

EDIT: Feel the same way about Metroidvania games. Played some solid ones over the last 5 years but I'm tiring to the genre even though indies are still regularly pumping out quality ones.

Secret of Mana has not aged well in terms of story presentation. I will eventually give Trials a go hoping that the story will be more engaging. In the meanwhile, Cross Code has both brilliant gameplay and an engaging storyline if you're looking to scratch that SNES era ARPG itch.

Twisted Metal was great. Will keep an eye on this but not real hopeful. Maybe it will surprise us.

I haven't played Ori and this little rant has probably made me less likely to play it in the future. Not a great vibe coming from this developer.

@Dm9982 it looks and plays a lot like fallout 3, which is a good thing. I've been playing this in handheld mode and it runs fine. Not the greatest looking game, but I actually find the stiff animation present in all versions more offensive than the low res graphics. Regardless, the game is fun and the writing is good. They have created a very cool world here.

Famitsu's review scale for major releases is 36 to 40. I used to put a lot of stock in their scores back in the N64 era, now I see that they are little different than much of the American gaming press.

@nessisonett their free "education" is compensation for them making their programs millions of dollars a year while they risk their health and well-being. Meanwhile the professors at the schools preach about ethics.

Yikes, the game needs a full makeover before I'd consider it at this point. N64 games mostly have aged terribly. Just upping the resolution doesn't cut it.

What's the deal with Robinhood and Td ameritrade halting transactions and possibly even selling investors Gamestop stock? That has to be illegal.... At any rate, this isn't a game I want to play, but I am entertained sitting on the sideline and watching this battle take place.

I enjoy this game, unlike Tetris 99, I feel like I have a chance to win this game each time I play. Tetris 99 is fun as well but just finishing top 10 doesn't really feel like a win. The players are too damn good at Tetris.

@roboshort I thought the blade games did it pretty well with the excessive amount of quests. I can't speak for the Witcher 3, but it traditionally has been a part of JRPGs forever, and more recently, F2P games. I personally don't mind a little grinding. In the case of F2P games, I'd much rather grind than shell out cash.

So I guess every dragon quest game ever made sucks?

I've never played any of the 3D World games. Is this a good place to start? As reference, my favorite mario games are Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and Mario 64. I enjoyed Galaxy a bit more than Odyssey. This game looks interesting and Mario 35 has hooked me the last few nights...
