Re: "Don't Let Nintendo Ruin The Entire Industry" - Is $80 For Mario Kart World A Bridge Too Far?

FragRed

Unfortunately I don’t think whether Nintendo pulls it off or not will change how the industry dictates prices going forward. They always have been creeping upward the past few years. And it’ll continue to do so as long as enough people buy games no matter the platform. Remember also the rumours about GTA VI being potentially £100/$100? I would not be surprised if it was true.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour Price Has Been Confirmed

It doesn’t matter if it’s cheap. It should be free. Sony had a pretty cool tech demo given away free with the PS5 day one. Probably cost a lot more to develop too. So I really don’t see why Nintendo couldn’t chuck this in for free, especially if they aren’t even charging anything more than a few quid.

Re: Nintendo Left Sony "Standing At The Altar" With SNES Disk Add-On, Says Former PlayStation Exec

FragRed

To be fair, Nintendo leaving Sony may have been a factor as to what happened next but what amazes me is how often the second half of the story is missed out. Sony went to Sega to team up for making a 32 bit console and though Sega of America said yes, Sega of Japan said no and this is why Sony went alone. Nintendo are kinda always made to look like the villain that pushed Sony into making the PlayStation.

@Toastmaster To be honest you are right, they did a lot of licensed shovelware though Robocop was insanely popular from what I remember. But yeah the music is definitely the thing they did best.

Also they were responsible for bringing a lot of Taito arcade games to home computers like the Bubble Bobble games and New Zealand Story etc.

Plus they did have some good original IP like Head Over Heels and Pushover which I got bundled with my Amiga.

Re: Nintendo Switch Was The Console With The Most Game Releases In 2023

FragRed

All three consoles have shovelware just like Steam. The problem is, the way Sony, Microsoft and Valve run their online stores pushes all of it to the bottom and highlights the big games when browsing so you don’t see it. That likely means you asset flip “developers” are less likely to put their crap on PlayStation or Xbox but on the eShop where it goes right to the top, makes sense to just chuck it all there.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Is Leaving PlatinumGames

FragRed

There are so many possibilities for why he left Platinum, so unless it becomes public knowledge this is all going to be speculation. However the idea that Platinum is being bought out does at least have some merit given the disastrous impact Babylon’s Fall must have had and the lack of anything related to that Project GG or whatever it’s called coming to light.

Personally think Nintendo with new hardware on the way and the relationship they have through Bayonetta, Astral Chain and the original release of Wonderful 101, does make most sense to me. I’m sure Astral Chain 2 is in the works.
