@N64-ROX I saw an interview on IGN a while back with the original head of Xbox and he discusses the buy out of Rare. Nintendo owned 49% of the company and so were given first refusal on buying it. Nintendo declined and so it was put up for sale. Both Microsoft and Activision went into a bidding war with Microsoft finally winning.
"why Nintendo didn't do the same is something that puzzles Rare co-founder Tim Stamper to this very day" Because most of the talent had left Rare to form Free Radical is my guess. They were the main ones responsible for the quality games they were pumping out.
Is it because it’s taken from the air and at a distance or is the Nintendo themed park area really that small? Either way, I wish I could afford to travel to Japan when the whole pandemic is over.
Why does it have to be Breath of the Wild 2 they’re talking about? A couple of years back they were recruiting for a brand new game with a historical fantasy setting? It’s likely whatever that game ends up being, I assume a new IP.
@Heavyarms55 I can assure you there was a lot of anger when current generation versions were released and there was massive glitches in some of the modes which I’m not sure were ever patched. But it’s not entirely EA people should be pointing the finger of blame on this. It’s FIFA mainly for letting a single corporation have the license in the first place.
@Heavyarms55 It's the national sport, even if we are bad at it on an international level. And there really isn't much in the way of competition so of course the ones who love football will buy it every year.
@KitsuneNight @Yas I think there’s also the problem that a lot of publishers have realised that they can easily just release the games themselves and charge more money knowing it’ll still sell well.
@patbacknitro18 Ohh, I didn't really the hole he's been digging went that deep. Hopefully he meets the Earth's core soon enough. I don't know what happens when people get big on Twitch/YouTube that suddenly turns them into such egotistic cry-babies but I assume it must be in part a hidden personality that was kept in check when they were nobodies.
There are so many arcade games that could be ported onto the Switch. Yet, that’s seemingly never going to happen especially at the real slow rate they’re currently happening.
The plan for the U.K. is not to have one giant spike but multiple smaller spikes which will likely mean multiple lockdowns. So we will see how likely these events will happen.
@elpardo1984 Right that’s where I got confused. Still this completely sucks that so many could likely have no jobs by the time the pandemic ends, in the case of Game even sooner, but unfortunately this is going to be far too normal.
I want to try Panza Dragoon but having never played the original, not sure if it’s a game I’d enjoy or if it’s one for those with nostalgia? Also the prize is a little steep.
@Octoguy I understand where you are coming from, but you need to look at this from a business point of view. Nintendo wants people to buy their IP on their own systems not a competing console.
It was only a matter of time before this started to happen. Nintendo more than most, are incredibly strict when it comes to the use of their IP, and this being a creation tool on a competing platform was always going to cause problems.
@fafonio Platinum Games rarely sell well. I doubt Bayonetta/Vanquish bundle hit a million sales. Astral Chain only just managed to get to a million. And 500,000 copies of Wonderful 101 really wouldn’t be too good considering it’s only double Wii U sales.
@Xylnox I just imagine Nintendo employees leaning out an office building and slapping a Game Freak employee around the head in the neighbouring building.
@SpicyBurrito16 There already is an HD remake of the first one on previous generation just never came to Nintendo. It's backwards compatible on Xbox One I believe.
@PoorGeno Remember how Phil Spencer used to outwardly say about how great Banjo & Kazooie would be in Smash, months before they were announced? He’d have known about the deal by then. I want to believe that this could be a similar case. I mean, there’s a good chance it’ll lead to nothing but you never know. Could be a tease of what’s to come.
@retro_player_22 Out of curiosity would you consider Resident Evil 2 which itself is a remake, a game that also shouldn’t be on the list, even though it’s a brand new interpretation of the original?
“ The logo doesn't have an apostrophe and it annoys us” Okay, there goes my purchase.
I bought this on the Xbox One when it was super cheap physically and prior to Game Pass being a thing. I also bought it yesterday on Switch so I already made up my mind about this game. I’ll probably end up streaming it after a few too many drinks... just like Death Stranding.
@Keroro1979 As awesome as that would be, the recent problems the high streets in the UK are facing and with us not being a big market for Nintendo, I don't see that happening.
I thought I was. Turns out, I didn't pre-order it in the first place despite being so sure I had done so. Soo, it really depends if Tesco has any in stock tonight. Otherwise no.
What an utter shambles this whole thing has turned out to be. And the worse thing about it, if you miss out because of the disaster this has become, then you don't really get a second chance. It's really poor and doesn't exactly build you up with confidence in them doing anything like this in the future. They must have known well in advance the kind of demand there would be.
I am pleasantly surprised to see The Witcher 3 make it into the top 10, let alone 4th position. That is impressive. I hope the port sells well enough for CD Project Red and perhaps others to realise the potential in getting their games onto the system - assuming said ports are done well.
@electrolite77 That explains it then. I only ever saw Game tweet about it, but now I am aware of others doing these sales as well I assume means it was an official sale by Nintendo through retailers.

@N64-ROX Altus perhaps? I don’t know if they ever put in a bid, but I also would not be surprised.
