@MJL That's a shame, wonder why hardware sales are only available to publishers and not the public? Japan doesn't hide these figures and I don't think NPD does either.
Yeah this doesn't excite me. I will keep playing Red Dea 2, Horizon 4 and now Spyro Reignited. When Nintendo starts to release games from newer systems, then I will pay attention.
@Atariboy @Buizel Thanks. I don’t know why I didn’t spot that first time. Think I was expecting it in the bottom centre like the original N64 controller had. I guess it makes way more sense where it is in this version.
"We do not have any other platforms to announce at this time."
Translates to "Please buy this game on the Xbox One and PS4 and be pleasantly surprised when we later reveal it is coming to your desired platform of choice so you can double dip and give us even more money."
It looks kinda ugly and it's missing a pretty important feature - analogue sticks, or if replicating the N64, just one analogue stick. Can't see this working well with those high performance title Goldeneye or Mario Kart
@Retupmocnin Actually, the main focus on Tetris Effect seems to be the idea of playing it in VR which seems to be the main selling point of the game.
I do wonder why Tetris Effect wasn't planned for the Switch with these kinds of sales? Seems odd, but then maybe there was a deal with Sony in place that prevented it going to other systems for a period of time.
Out of all the days they could have chosen in December, they decided to release on the day of Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Probably not the wisest decision.
This seems like a decent idea for a developer looking to do more than just Pokémon games going forward. I’m guessing that new IP coming to the Switch next year is the start of bigger plans to not be solely dependent on one franchise no matter how big it is
Was there any doubt Nintendo wouldn't be working on a new Zelda game? The real question is, will this come exclusively to the Switch or will it be like Breath of the Wild?
I remember when these things were all the rage in the late 90s. 20 years later, they still haven't improved the screen I see. Still same old technology.
Okay I absolutely love Spectrum games, they're my first memories... ever. I even helped crowd fund the ZX Spectrum Next. So yeah this is a game for me!
This game is amazing! I am so loving it! Anyone who is on the fence should plop down the money and buy it... and then buy the newest one too while you're at it!
This man invented Michael Myers. He knows what he's talking about!! I think this is the absolute proof we need. But what does he think of Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey?
It’s almost like these reps have no idea what’s actually going on in the companies they’re supposed to represent. Happens a lot, one person says one thing then another says something else.
I remember when Woolworths went bankrupt some 10 years ago here in the UK. That was a massive blow to the UK high street and to a lot of Brits who remembered growing up going into their stores, seeing the huge pick n mix selection while looking around their videos and games etc... that came back as an online presence, even doing pick n mix initially. But that too has gone, and I imagine a Toys R Us presence wouldn't do much better in today's competitive climate.
This is really good to hear! I love it when games exceed expectations, especially games that they never thought would do quite as well as they end up doing in the West.
I haven't bought either Xenoblade Chronicles 2 nor the expansion. There is just too many other games I need to play and finish first. You would think being portable, playing and finishing games would be easier. But nope, just means I buy more because I think I can finish them easier.
When you make an announcement telling fans that they will revealing the next game they have been working on for the past year and a half, you are deliberately creating good reason to get people excited - even if some of it was way overblown. But at the same time, this is a port. Surely it didn't take them this long to just port the game?
This is really exciting, but obviously this won't be Nintendo IP related whatever it is - that would be something announced during a Direct. But am eager to find out what it is they are teasing
It makes sense. For the same reason Nintendo effectively abandoned trying to support 2 systems, Sony also couldn't support both a handheld and home console. Something had to give.
@Heavyarms55 Same reason Capcom released Street Fighter 2 and then the following year released it as part of a Street Fighter package. Corporate greed.
@Dalarrun They should just accept that their slogan "For the players" is nothing but a marketing trick that 80 million people fell for. It's never a good thing to be behind Nintendo on something like this, whom are often looked at as the company behind the times.
@Dalarrun Sony has offered almost weekly reasons for why they don't, or won't offer cross-play with other platforms outside PC. It seems to be different depending on who is asked.
Sooo, what games should we expect (and how many assuming it uses the same boards as the previous Minis?) There are a few obvious ones such as Mario 64, Mario Kart 64 etc. But I hope it's not just Nintendo first party games if it does become a reality.
Broken Sword is very much a game series that is made for it's fans, and the gameplay/puzzles reflect that. I mean, it was the fans that backed the game to begin with through crowd funding.
These types of games are very much open to opinion as to whether it is to individuals likings, so a 6/10 shouldn't be taken as gospel. If it looks good to you, get it.
@tourjeff I forgot about Drgon Ball Fightrz. For some reason I thought it had released but I may have been thinking of the online beta they had. Yeah, as you said that should sell well in Japan.
@NewAdvent I feel a lot of people saw Tomb raider as a poor man's Uncharted and the reboot series never gained the sales it deserved.
What's the next Switch game to hit Japan in physical form? Is it Super Mario Party? That I hope will give the system a boost in sales, both game wise and hardware wise.
@Moroboshi876 No problem. I always assumed it would be 40 games, like how Rare Replay did 30 games for their 30th anniversary. It seems like either a missed opportunity, as well as kind of cheap.
@Moroboshi876 Doing a quick Google, it seems the Mega Drive/Genesis version of Street Smart wasn't produced or published by SNK but a company called Treco. So that may be why that version isn't being included.

Re: Switch Gets A Major Retail Boost In The UK Thanks To Pokémon: Let's Go Success
@MJL Seems odd to make software sales free to view but not the hardware sales. Oh well, I am sure Nintendo will be shouting about it soon enough.

Re: Switch Gets A Major Retail Boost In The UK Thanks To Pokémon: Let's Go Success
I am curious as to what effect this has had on actual hardware sales. Would be cool if the UK charted hardware sales like Japan does.

@Stargazer The fact it doesn't seem to be on Oculus Rift does suggest Sony paid to have it be a promotion for their VR device.
