Re: Talking Point: Do You Replay Games?

FragRed

I have so many hundreds of games waiting to be played mainly because I keep buying games in sales but I never actually have time to play any of them. So when it comes to replaying games, I only ever do that with some older, often retro, games I love.

Re: Sega Reportedly Launching A New Pokémon Arcade Game

I don’t think Sega’s international arcade division is no any longer owned by Sega themselves. It’s another Avenue they seemed to have sold off - saw it in a tweet on the social media page couple weeks back. So I assume Sega no longer have the ability to distribute this internationally even if they wanted to.

@fafonio Feels like Nintendo unfortunately only wants one first party racer on their console and that is Mario Kart. It's not like a new F-Zero would take away from Mario Kart sales. In fact, judging by how well games on the Switch are doing, I would have thought a new F-Zero would be a no brainer even if they outsourced it.

@stinky_t I agree. Fast Rmx is an awesome game and I kinda want a sequel to it. Hope it's what is being worked on. Now the developers know the hardware better than at launch, they should be able to squeeze more out of it.

@ShadJV I think what’s interesting is that they publicly stated they were rebranding the company. That can be taken 2 ways. First is they are getting away from that franchise to try something new for now at least. The other is they are rebranding to focus entirely on that particular franchise. It’ll be interesting to see which way they go.

Re: Yooka-Laylee Developer Playtonic Games Teases New Reveal Coming "Soon"

@gcunit It certainly felt that way. It was one of the biggest funded crowdfunded games offering a massive nostalgia trip by the very people behind some of the best N64 games at the height of Kickstarter mania. And it didn’t pan out the way it was hyped up to be. I think a fair amount of the backlash was fuelled by social media and news outlets so that may have made it feel bigger than it was.

I feel like they are probably wanting to move away from Yooka-Laylee as a series, for now at least. The first game had such a massive backlash that I think probably effected sales of Impossible Lair. Also there’s rumours that they are rebranding the company and have had outside investment. Either way, I think Playtonic are doing something totally new and different.
