Re: Random: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Devs "Too Occupied" To Play Elden Ring

Donutman

After skyward sword/twilight, i played 1000s hours of dark souls and thought if only zelda was more like this. Then botw, after 1000 hours, I thought if only dark souls was like this. Then eldin ring. Except I only played about 50 hours of that because it just got grindy and didn’t feel like it was a big step in open worlds. Now I’ve played like 75 hour of totk, and can only think that no game will ever come close to matching this, well, until Nintendo makes botw3 and adds multiplayer to this.

Re: Soapbox: Getting The Master Sword In Tears Of The Kingdom Is Zelda At Its Best

Donutman

I didn’t read the article, it skimmed comments, and am just amazed at how epic this alone in the game is. I have been probably 75 hours and have barely touched the main story. The side quests and finding caves/wells, chasms, random bosses, I just can’t get back to the story. Too much to do, amd I didn’t think I’d like the weapon fusing, but i love making my own swords. Better than cooking. I’ll beat the story, someday….

I have to add, that OOT was the first game, and one of the few that brought a tear to my eye, but it was just because the it was so good at the time, and it ended. How can Nintendo keep making games that can hook a 14 year old just as much as a 40+?

Re: Japan's Switch Sales In June Were Reportedly A Record High For The Console

Donutman

I have no complaints with my switch. I have been playing as my main console since launch. My ps4, then xbox1, and then/now my steamdeck have been my back up consoles over same period, but my switch has more use then prob all 3 of those combined, and admittedly I hadn’t used since bayo3, and purchasing a steamdeck, but haven’t touched anything but totk since launch. It’s about the games, and switch has great games, and still more coming. I’ll get back to Diablo 4 at some point, maybe. Pikmin4 soon too…

Re: Microsoft CEO Says He Would "Love To Get Rid Of" Exclusives On Consoles

Donutman

Microsoft wants to control everything, and would love to have Mario and zelda on Xbox/windows. The only way they even still relevant is because they just buy everything and make it theirs. Nintendo pushes gaming/consoles forward. They might be behind on some things, but I’ll take their consoles over anything Xbox. Microsoft just wants people paying for their service, and wouldn’t be nice if Mario was next to master chief.

Exclusives give you a reason to buy said console, and today, sad for Microsoft, but my main consoles are my steamdeck and switch and the little I used my Xbox has been replaced with playing games like Spider-Man, uncharted, days gone, re4, even Diablo 4 on my steam deck, and using my Xbox controller to play them on my tv. Sony does give up some exclusives that even Nintendo won’t.

Re: Soapbox: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's Busier Hyrule Is Making Me Miss BOTW

Donutman

I’ll have a hard time going back to botw with all the improvements totk has brought. I’ll enjoy the story, but just looking back at the 300-400hours in botw, with so little to do compared to totk, I’ll never actually finish tears. And I did most everything(including master mode and the bike), but 100% koruks. I really hope 1-2 years from now, we get a story dlc, and if I am running Nintendo, the ability to have local amd/or online co op. At the very least, reuse everything again for a 3rd installment and add multiplayer. The ability to play this game world with a friend is the only thing keeping this from being best game ever period

Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo Squeeze Another Zelda Game Out Of TOTK's Open World?

Donutman

It would not surprise me at all to see them reuse the entire game world/engine again for a 3rd installment. I hope for a dlc announcement in a year or 2 at the very least. But from my 30 hours so far vs my 300+ hours in botw, tears is even better in every way you would hope a sequel should be. But there is still so much of love to see that I think Nintendo could implement into the game as it is, like the ability to have a friend in local/online, take control of any of the npcs, including a soldier, to co op the game. That is the 3rd game right there. Same world, just something completely new, as well as story of course.

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Update Now Live (Version 1.1.2), Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Donutman

I’m no expert player, but I cooked like 5 dishes to give me like 10 minutes each, and made my way through entire wind temple and boss, died 1 time but didn’t need fancy armor amd I’ve still only 5 hearts. I do r need to cheat, I have plenty of everything I need just from exploring the world.
That being said, I’d rather Nintendo just give us good old cheat codes, things like infinite arrows, or rupees. It’s a singpke player game and how is it harming anyone. My kids take me game, use all my arrows. It be nice if I could just punch in a code and let them play with cheats on

Re: Zelda: TOTK Is The Sixth Game Ever To Get Perfect Scores From Edge And Famitsu

Donutman

At the time, if you could get used to the controls, skyward sword was a 10. It was better in most ways over twilight, and I personally loved the motion controls. I have control of my arms and understand how to swing a sword, smd had no issues playing ever. The bosses got over used, especially after multiple playthroughs, which you could say about botw too…. But the entire world was like a dungeon, and the actual dungeons are what we all missed about botw. The switch version is a 10 for sure, but they are all different games, which is what I love about the series. So I can enjoy each for what they all are separately.
Nintendo, if I could just have all zelda games on my switch, I would have no need for any other consoles. 3ds was close, and Wii U but I can’t take it with me.

Re: Kloa: Child Of The Forest Is A Beautiful Blend Of Pixel Art, Studio Ghibli, And Zelda

Donutman

@RainbowStarFlower and we can play it or not whether we want to because it’s our choice. I can’t play every game that comes out, but have enjoyed plenty of these style over the years. I’ve been on a 6 month switch break and pucked up deaths door on my steamdeck and really enjoyed that. But now I’m playing days gone and eldin ring just waiting for botw2 and I’ll be back to switch for a couple hundred hours.

Re: Kloa: Child Of The Forest Is A Beautiful Blend Of Pixel Art, Studio Ghibli, And Zelda

Donutman

@sanderev @MikeJones I’m not saying he is wrong, but I think there are nicer ways to state it. I had to double check to see if it was developed but whoever did sparklite, or jotun, because it reminded me of those games immediately. But any game is more of the same nowadays, just enjoy what’s there and don’t trash on people who make this stuff or enjoy playing it.
I probably won’t be getting it either way. Because it is more of the same and I’m fine replaying one of the many Zelda’s I haven’t played to death.

Re: Feature: Call Of Duty On Nintendo Systems - A Brief History

Donutman

Cod ghost was the last I played and it got plenty of play at my house. I can’t play cod yearly, but it’s nice to have one that’s a solid port on my console to play occasionally. I don’t use my Xbox like I used to, and I haven’t looked into infinite warfare on steamdeck yet, which is the most recent that is on there at like 7 years old. So, I don’t play cod anywhere, but instead find plenty of other shooters to play on switch when I do want to.

Re: Video: We're Playing Zelda: Ocarina Of Time In Our New YouTube Series 'First Bytes'

Donutman

Playing this upon launch back then, this was the best video game I’d ever played. It was the 1st time any game/book/movie has ever brought a tear to my eye when finishing it. Played it nightly for a month and beat it without guides or cheats, it set a bar for games that many today still don’t reach.
However, today, it is not my fav zelda, that goes to twilight princess or botw. oot is just 3D link to the past. Twilight princess is just super oot. Botw just is a great at being a zelda/Skyrim clone, but I enjoy the traditional dungeons.

Re: Poll: How Many 3DS Consoles Have You Owned?

Donutman

A launch red one, then triforce 3dsxl, and still own a grey n3dsxl. Others were traded as I do with old consoles typically, but I’ll always have my grey one. I haven’t used it since I got a switch, and my kids have all moved into their own switch’s, but I’m sure someday they will appreciate the 100+ games on it, or how it plays almost every zelda game ever

Re: Random: Hideki Kamiya Thinks Bayonetta Origins Will Help People Make Babies

Donutman

Birth rates are declining worldwide because todays mentality is that kids are a burden and you can’t have the life Hollywood or social media show you if you have more than 1 kid. I have 4. Ranging in 3 school systems, and I thing I notice, most of todays parents have 1 kid, in daycare, so they both can work m-f 9-5. A few have 2 kids, but that’s it. Rarly have I met other parents like us that work opposite and don’t use day care. Birth rates are going down because peoples lifestyles are more selfish then selfless.

Re: Poll: Which Nintendo Switch Online Console Do You Play The Most?

Donutman

I grew up with these so it’s not such a big deal to replay games that mostly are showing their age when compared to todays games. I feel like they there more for the history lesson of where games has come from.
Happy to see other enjoy them of course, but my favorite switch console is the switch

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online N64 Service With GoldenEye 007

Donutman

Even though I own this and a n64, have the ability to play it on my switch, I have no desire to. After hundreds, maybe thousands, of hours of play on high school, each time I replay as an adult, it disappoints at how badly it aged. It remains in my memory as one of my fav games of all time.
It is nice to see others want to play this, but nothing will beat playing 4 person split screen with friends, crammed in over a 19inch tv. Except for maybe smash bros.

Re: Talking Point: What Is The Most Frustrated You've Ever Been With A Video Game?

Donutman

100% super Mario galaxy 2. Took 40-50 tries to get some of the stars each. Then dark souls 1 upon 1st releasing. We had been used to easy games and this 1st time in generations that a game challenged you in every way, if you stayed away from internet and just played game through. Just dropped you into a world that you had to explore, no little beacon saying this objective next. And if you dropped your guard, the most mundane enemies would kill you.

Re: Thunderful Games Teasing New SteamWorld Announcement

Donutman

Heist 2 would be a dream or something new. Not another quest game. I wanted to like it, but it had no replay value and prefer the openness of a magic or hearthstone over quest. But a more expanded heist game would be amazing!
Dig 3 would get played, but I’m not excited for that.

Re: Video: Does The Switch Actually Feel 'Old' Yet?

Donutman

As new tech comes along, like say a steam deck, which cost the same as a oled switch, but plays ps5 games as well as 1000s of pc games, then Nintendo is losing its novelty unless your late to playing their 1st party stuff, which is why you have a Nintendo console anyways, but I can play elden ring on to go, or dark souls. Well, after 2000 hours, I think I can move on and when botw?2 comes out, I’ll get around to playing bayonetta 3, and hopefully pikmin and maybe a Mario or Metroid late this year. But until then, it’s nice to play something like days gone in handheld, or on my tv, which has been the last couple weeks since playing both spider man’s and gow.

Re: Best Of 2022: How's Your Switch Holding Up After 5 Years?

Donutman

Well, since this article, my launch switch has died. It survived several falls, including once when I set it on top of my truck, drove down road, realized, pick up off side of road, still worked. There was several chunks of missing plastic for the casing, but it took a 4 year old to drop it out of a bunk bed onto hard wood to deliver its final blow. Screen went half dark, half blurry. however, I am still impressed but its overall life span, which is why it was replaced with a oled.

Now my steam deck is my baby, and I’ll take good care of it

Re: Soapbox: The Steam Deck And The Switch Aren't Rivals, They're Siblings

Donutman

God of war is on steam deck, ragnarok is not on steam deck as of now. I do see it in a year or 2, but not today. There are several PlayStation exclusives, but they are gimped with no multiplayer.
I got a steam deck a couple months ago to play eldin ring, but with my pc steam library, i have 100 games already, and with the dock you can pick up, now I play spider man, on my tv, with a switch controller. That should tell you how versatile it is.

Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2022 Is Elden Ring

Donutman

@kingbk I bought a steam deck just to play eldin ring on the go since my switch can’t do that, haven’t touched my switch in a couple months now, and probably won’t until zelda comes out. I didn’t know it has a bunch of PlayStation games I haven’t played either
