Re: Journey Developer Is Bringing Sky: Children Of The Light To Switch This Spring

Donutman

@TheLightSpirit @Arkay journey and limbo were 2 of my biggest disappointments when they released when it comes to spending $25 on a game that were critically acclaimed, but to find out they both barely 2 hours and they were both basically just walking simulators with no gameplay and no replay value. Both were over priced and they made me very skeptical of any indie games since, and they are why I wait for sales for all digital purchases.

Re: Switch Becomes The Best-Selling Console For 24 Consecutive Months Despite PS5, Xbox Series Launches (US)

Donutman

@TG16_IS_BAE which is exactly why I have my switch. Nintendo has awesome exclusives, and plenty of awesome ports/indie/AAA titles that I will never need another console at this rate. I’ll update my aging laptop at some point. I purchased the new quest 2, which is awesome, and there just isn’t anything on next gen/pc that makes me want to invest in anything else. It’s all about the games, and I’ve always been pc/Nintendo, and a little PS sprinkled in for exclusives. Now we kill the battery on our quest everyday and am thinking about getting rid of the Xbox 1 to get a second.

Re: Interview: "There Would Be No Control On Switch Without The Cloud," Says Remedy

Donutman

After playing through the demo, I was surprised at how well it ran. The cutscene has more frame drops then the gameplay. I am not about to give any money towards cloud gaming since I just refuse to accept it is the future. But I also accept it is the future and we all will need to deal with it someday. People still buy dvds(kind of) but who really buys or burns cds anymore? My kids want all their games digitally. But one thing I can say is the my dream library is several PCs old, and my iTunes has been around since the beginning, and each iPhone I get still has my music on it. So maybe their is hope for cloud/digital gaming to co-exist with physical games.

Re: Switch Has Now Been The Best-Selling Console In The US For 22 Consecutive Months - That's A New Record

Donutman

I started with a launch switch. By Xmas that year, we had one for my teenager and another sitting under the tree for my then 7 year old. Now our 4 year old is waiting everyday for me to get home with mine so he can play breath of the wild and Minecraft. A 4th will be under the tree this year, unless I can hold out til March to see if any rumors are true...
Even if other another, I still have a 2 year old who will be gaming in next year if 2.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel #60 - Metroid: Other M

Donutman

Take away the how linear the game was and if you could skip cutscenes, then this was a great game in the same way hyrule warriors is great. (Great game in the Metroid/zelda universe) The hate is only from spoiled fanboys who thought Nintendo was going to make a true super Metroid sequel. it’s probably because of those same fanboys why Nintendo has all but ignored Metroid, and is trying one last time to make prime 4 a worthy successor. Because if prime 4 doesn’t sell, Metroid series is probably dead. Especially when you hear things like how animal crossing switch has outsold the entire Metroid series...and Nintendo is in business to make money.

Re: Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase Appears Out Of Nowhere, Watch It Here

@redd214 I’m not complaining with games like bioshock, borderlands, sinking city, outer worlds, to name a few games I either missed last gen or only played 1 of the series. I’ve purchased too many games for my switch, nearing 100. While my ps4 usually only gets a free game every month or 2 since I don’t play anything on that, just warzone by 1 kid when we all not using our switches. But we all still play smash, rocket league, Minecraft animal crossing, as our daily family gaming too. I don’t know why people even have other consoles and complain about a switch library. Pc for like 3 games as well.

Re: Poll: So, What Was Nintendo's Best Year Ever?

Donutman

Best, day switch came out. Best console ever and can only be topped by better versions that are always backwards compatible. Worst year, not in my lifetime, as long as I have a Nintendo console to play, which has been the majority of my 38 years

Re: Poll: Should Nintendo Release A Digital-Only Switch?

Donutman

@Rayquaza2510 back before switch was released, Nintendo said something along the lines of how switch wouldn’t be backwards compatible and would be starting from “0”. I take that to mean that switch is the future for Nintendo like iPads are. And even though we just got a new one, it still plays plants vs zombies 1 which has been a staple for our family, so I hope that Nintendo has learned a few things from these other companies too.

Re: Poll: Should Nintendo Release A Digital-Only Switch?

Donutman

I look at gaming as just a few years behind music, tv/dvd. I have hundreds of cds, I still buy them, but now I just get it digitally, then burn a copy to put in my book. My iPhone dies, my iTunes and the 500+ cds are always with me on my new phone. I could pay monthly for music, but the 5 cds I buy a year is less then a service.
I prefer physical games, but now it’s only for the resale. I don’t buy anything digital unless it’s on sale, or I know its a game I’ll have for the duration of owning the console. But next gen, how these companies treat us who bought 90% of our games on switch digitally, when the new switch comes out next gen, are all of my games going to transfer over like my music or my pc game library on steam? That will determine if this gen is my last with keeping up with new stuff, or if I take a break and just make my switch the last console I get. My backlog is already years long, I don’t need more game, but I still buy them.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Has Already Exceeded Nintendo's Lifetime Sales Predictions

Donutman

Admittedly I bought 2 copies for the house. I’ve never owned an animal crossing game and my 9 year old wanted it so we started a week ago. It’s exactly what I thought, everything fun about playing a life sim and kind of Zelda-lite with no dungeons and fighting. But bug collecting, fishing, etc... I thought I’d be playing catch up to him, but he keeps telling me I’m getting ahead of him

Re: Nintendo Cracks Down On The Super Mario 64 PC Port

Donutman

@MysticX ports have been around since the beginning of gaming. PAC man was ported to the nes for example. This gen has been nothing but a port of last gen. Nintendo is not the only ones. The fact that you can buy a Beatles song off iTunes and its not lost to the past with records shows that ports will always be there if people want to item.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Console Codenames And Product Codes

I still think Wii U means Wii upgraded. It’s just that it should have been released 3 years prior to when it was, then the message would have been clear. Hd Wii with a bulky Gamepad that is actually awesome. Our Wii U is still in use at our house. Mostly for tv and the hundreds of retro game’s. But it’s because the Gamepad is so easy to use.
