Re: Review: Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee (Switch) - A Technically Stunning Port Of The Worst Game In The Series

DennyCrane

I haven't played it in about 7 years or so and I am really fancying a revisit, coming back to this review to see how it performs on the switch, is really heart breaking. This game, whilst flawed, deserves more than a 3. It has a charm and a character that really shines, it welcomes you and feels cozy. It deserves a 6-7 and any one who hasn't played it please don't be put off by the score
For new comers, Switch-Up review worth a watch, gave it 70%

Halo. I'm not a huge FPS guy, but I think that has more the direction they went, with multiplayer taking the focus or being bloody and gory. Clean single-player campaigns with smooth gameplay is all I want and having Halo on a Nintendo handheld (only gaming I bother with now) would please me greatly.

Re: Opinion: Metroid II Doesn't Care If Samus Lives Or Dies

DennyCrane

Metroid II is fantastic, just as this article is. Well done @iantothemax, one of the best articles in a long time.

The game is deeper than expected and that ending, the environmental story telling leading up too the queen will always be something I never forget and once your beyond her its probably the best ending in Metroid. Sadly it's something Mercury Steam didn't understand.

Re: Just Like With Switch 1, Nintendo Warns Against Using Switch 2 In Extreme Heat

@Ellie-Moo It's been heart-breaking this year, trees I have known and loved all my life either dead or suffering.
Yeah, British got to love our rain, thats how we keep our 'green and pleasant land'.
A return to proper spring and autumn would be lovely, both such magical seasons, especially so for autumn as far as I'm concerned. As for winter, well, I'm that guy still in shorts and t-shirt or a thin fleece and I do love the short days, especially so at the festive time of year, when hopefully I will be playing Metroid Prime 4

@Ellie-Moo i'd love to live in the UK where you are. Its been hot a good chunk of the year where I am in UK and such little rain that many trees are struggling still, even though the temp as returned to what it should be and a number have died and still on verge of death, including very large mature trees. Oaks are having to keep dropping underdeveloped acorns to conserve water as ground water is next to none.

Re: Whoops, It Looks Like Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection's Release Date Has Leaked Early

@Kidfunkadelic83 @brakeman90
Agreed. I have all the SNES ones on my SNES mini and I do get put off them and end up up jumping on Street Fighter II Turbo instead or TMNT Tournament Fighter (which is pretty tough itself). They are still fun, but I think these are better suited to those that love the genre and casuals would be better to look elsewhere, unless nostalgia compels a purchase of course.

Re: Best Donkey Kong Games Of All Time

Good list. I personally would have DKC higher than DKC2, but I know I'm in the minority there. I just love the simplicity of it, straight run and jump that has a beautiful rhythm to it and it is by far my most replayed DKC. Tropical Freeze was incredible, but after doing everything on WiiU, minus reverse levels, I haven't been able/wanted to replay it and I have tried but I end up stopping early in game, so it gets bumped down a little on my list.
I have never been a fan of DK64, yet have always wanted to see a great 3D DK so I can't wait to play DKB, I now have a reason to buy a Switch 2. This is the first time I haven't had a Nintendo console on release day since the N64 and having my own money. Although, I will have to wait a bit longer now due to money

Re: Donkey Kong Bananza: Walkthrough

@Medic_alert I bought the BOTW and TOTK guides to help with koroks and any unfinished business I couldn't find. I could have used the internet, but there is something special about a guide you can hold in your hands that has love and care put into. I limited use and only purchased after I had done all story and as many side bits and pieces I could find.
The other trouble with the ease of internet is people get stuck and jump straight on it to see what they have to do, removing that work towards an 'aha' moment. Sometimes it is of course needed to look when you simply have no idea, but to jump on the moment you get stumped without trying is becoming increasingly common.
I'm not at all against guides, I just think selective usage after you have exhausted your own capabilities is what they are designed for. I was speaking to a friend a few years ago and discovered that he plays games with his phone open with a guide on screen, following it to a tea. That to me is just going through the motions without any thought at all and all upcoming scripted events are spoiled before the game can even start them.
@Uncle_Franklin Absolutely. When i have had to use a guide to help out, it can be quite shocking the terrible spelling mistakes and poor communication of what needs doing, that you end up thinking 'WTH are you even on about?' and have to look elsewhere to make sense of it.

No offense intended Nintendolife, I have no problem you posting this and obviously have no idea of your work here as haven't looked, just came for the comments as I figured they would be interesting with this landing so soon

Re: Review: SEGA AGES Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (Switch) - A Fantastic Game, But Who Hasn't Played It By Now?

DennyCrane

@DwaynesGames I know your comment is old but I am in the same boat, never got on due to fast paced play.
The two ages games are on sale at moment, so I thought I'd take the plunge. I haven't touched Sonic 2 yet, but the first game is a far slower paced game that feels closer to a Mario game, particularly after the first stage, Green Hill Zone. The speed is there if you choose as you get better at the game, but otherwise its easy to enjoy without racing around everywhere.
So, if you havent as of yet, might be worth giving the first one a go whilst its silly cheap

Re: Best Yoshi Games Of All Time

@Kirbysonic My younger sister was the same, loved the look and sound of the game and would put hours into it, meaning I of course joined her (when I wasnt out up to no good) and ended up falling in love with it myself. I think its probably my fav out of anything that came after Yoshis Island

Re: Best Yoshi Games Of All Time

@BrianJL I had a Super Scope as well. Enjoyed it and the games, but man that thing became hard to use pretty quick. I was thankful most games for it were on the shorter side
