@sketchturner oh and sorry, gyro.
I'll say this, it's my preferred way to play it now. I played All-Stars this way with a Nexigo Gripcon, so gyro in handheld and not touch screen and fell in love with playing like that.
Yep, physical for £42 and I have already done 120 stars on Galaxy 2 in handheld. Now trying to put it aside and do Green Stars next week, but it's calling me "Dan. Daaan. Join us! Join us in this merry land! Join us!". Why it says 'join us' like a Deadite I don't know.
@dartmonkey I bought a PS4 for cheap just to play The Last Guardian, after playing it and Spider-Man I sold it for more, so no loss there. But, as for the game, please, play it. It is very special game and whilst it has it's flaws, it sets out what it wanted to achieve and succeeds wonderfully and for me Tean Ico's best. It will always be a treasured experience. I warn you though, you may fall in love with Trico.
@Beaucine I adore the NES Metroid. I love the black backgrounds. It may have had to been done like that due to technical reasons, but man, do they add to the atmosphere. It's a great game, just difficult for newcomers, but once it grabs you, it really grabs you
@ShieldHero You're welcome. Hope you do enjoy your journey through the world of Metroid when you get round to it. Although, with the download you may be venturing down that path sooner than expected.
@ShieldHero You should rectify that. As @Robot99 stated, best to start with Zero Mission or Super. Zero is faced paced, smoother controlling (more modern feeling) and relatively easy to never get lost, almost feels linear. Super is damn near perfect, only negative for new comers, wall-jump can be a pain and may feel clunkier (buttons can be remapped in game via settings). All of them are great mind, but NES and II have aged, II less so and is quite frankly a fantastic game, but it depends on personal tastes with older games. I think all are worth a play at some point, although have a map at hand with the NES to avoid frustration on first playthrough. (Super is best)
Well, first of, I need 2 votes. Super Metroid title screen is fantastic, yet so is Primes with that music. I can't decide. The NES one was amazing too.
@Lizuka Bowsers Fury is the only Mario game I never finished. I have 100% all 2D and 3D, all of them more than once, some many times, but BF just wasn't for me. Honestly, given the release of Mario Galaxy's, the Mario Galaxy Movie, the fact we just got a sandbox in Bananza, I think it will be something like Galaxy 3 next.
@The_Nintendo_Pedant Some reviews have commented on slight graphical blemishes, so I imagine it's silly things like that. Either way, with or without patch they run great
@kid_keo Well, you know, I am kool kid.
Honestly, it's hard to believe it's been so long on this site.
I do miss the 2 page reviews though, made what ever game it was feel extra epic.
@Minako-Meleph No worries. I have used it for so long I forget it's not truly handheld. If you still use Switch 1, I highly recommend. Quite cheap and better than most else out there. Think Gen2 is the newest one. Still, given how I played All-Stars it means that with the new release, I can highly recommend the handheld. Enjoy, good sir!
@Minako-Meleph I was thinking, I use a NexiGo Gripcon as don't like joy-cons. That may be why I can do it in handheld, I think it acts as a pro-controller. If so, sorry for confusion. Well worth money if your handheld player
@Minako-Meleph Dude, I just turned on my switch and it works with gyro, I did so to be sure it still does, even though I did a playthrough in May. I have 100% the game twice with gyro. I only play handheld. Check yourself. Perhaps upon release, but it has been updated, shortly after if I remember
@Minako-Meleph perhaps it was updated, but both my playthroughs i used gyro in handheld. Once shortly after release and again this year. Never played it with touch screen
Oh and gyro aiming is available in 3D All-Stars, it's how I have got all stars twice (including Luigi). I used gyro for aiming, stylus for blowing and pull stars and gyro with trigger held down to keep centred for ball and manta. It's now my preferred way to play it and can not wait to try Galaxy 2 like it.
Edit - Forgot that I use a NexiGo GripCon. So, despite playing in handheld it technically is not. However, seen as it performs the same as the new releases, I can say handheld is amazing
I have been gaming since the Commodore 64, I have owned all Nintendo consoles (excluding Virtual Boy), Playstation 1,2,3 and briefly 4, XBox and 360 and my brother had Master System and MegaDrive, I have played so many games over the years, but not one has ever felt has though it was the distillation of magic as Super Mario Galaxy. I will never forget playing that for the first time, it gave me the feeling of being a small boy on Christmas Eve, it truly was something special. I remember thinking, how will they ever better this? They haven't really, not as far as the magic goes, but that doesn't surprise me. Galaxy 2 couldn't even manage it, although it made up for it with outstanding gameplay, but despite this, the first is always my preferred to play.
When it came out, I devoured the game, all articles in magazines, but craved more. My house-mate, or more precisely, cottage-mate, was sat on his computer, I asked him if we could search Mario Galaxy, we did and I hoped on a little site called Nintendo Life. This was my first time on the internet and reading the review for Mario Galaxy was the first thing I did (I believe the review was spread over 2 pages), all because I needed more. Who would have thought that 18years later, not only am I still using Nintendo Life, but I am reading a review for Mario Galaxy. Crazy.
I got my pre-order (£42, bargain as far as I am concerned) and can not wait to jump back in, despite only playing them through again earlier this year.
@hisownsidekick It's probably a better one than most, I'm basing that on it's popularity as I haven't played any others, but it wears thin and becomes a little boring. It's actually a sequel and you can pick up the first one very cheap, so would be worth playing that and it will give you an idea on this one, save some pennies that way. Despite what I said about it becoming a little boring, I would say that is just my opinion and the games became popular for a reason, so please don't be put off by that. As for the subgenre, I remember hearing something like 'episodic survival horror' to describe it, don't know if that helps
I honestly don't mean this in a bad way, but I love the fact her pictures make her look a little crazy. Hopefully she is a lot of fun like Reggie and gets the fans.
@nessisonett I believe her mother was Sommer Pritchard, middle name Set
Seen all 3 films, but still had to look up a proper picture to put the name to the face, which I recognised instantly. Funny that I couldn't tell who she was in game, despite knowing her name.
@Vyacheslav333 I am, in all honesty, disappointed you told me that. I really liked the humour of that comment and it is now crushed. Still, some random information to know. She is also know as Estela and Harmony
@mariokirby485 came back to read this with the release incoming and saw your comment, your wish, my friend, is granted. I only played through it last year, but I'm still hyped.
A one time watch was enough. It was okay. Sadly, due to it I'm simply not fussed about the new one. Honestly, prefer the live action, it's a weird film, a weird Mario, but it tried and is a really fun and wacky romp. Besides, Mario, particularly the first 6 games (GB included), was always weird and tried to be different each time, the film kinda did the same, to the extreme mind you.
@Vyacheslav333 Not sure if that was a joke, but if not, it was a very funny mistake "I don't want to imagine how they will mess up Rosetta... 😢" Her name is Rosalina. Love it. You win the comments
The European is the best for the game and overall. Colourful and enticing. But man, there's also something about the Japanese one I love and knowing the European would win, Japan got my vote
Batman (NES) and maybe some Croc (Switch). Was considering perhaps starting to get to the end of Hollow Knight as save file been left for years now, but, too much running around in the game, so chose the above. Batman is a quick game to run through and have been meaning to replay Croc. Although, as of typing this, I have just decided to do a 100% completion, no death run on SMB3 and SMW with 40th anniversary here.
@Zeroo Honestly, this game is something I normally would have zero interest in, but, I'm really looking forward to getting it. Nintendo kinda dropped the ball with MKW and Sega are here to clean up. It just looks fantastic, shame these bits are paid DLC though and not included
@AaronElWhite I was sure I saw it in the sale yesterday, so just double checked for you, £8.37 and about 10euros on continent. Looks like its not on sale in US on site, but a comment above says $12 (I presume US) It was a joy in handheld. I haven't played in a couple of years, so may have to do so ready for DLC too
How unexpected. It was a nice chill game, I definitely enjoyed it. Would for sure give this a go. Again, totally unexpected, of all things to receive a massive DLC, I wouldn't have ever guessed this. Funny they didn't just release it as a sequel. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a castle to build
Might just be a nod to Pac-Man as it released in 1980, with Donkey Kong releasing 1981. Both were absolute giants of the arcades, so this is just paying respect to what would have been competition/rivel at that point in time. Games regularly give a nod to a game/company they respect, I imagine the same is here, either Nintendo as a whole or just developers/programmers.
@Max_the_German Mario Run is a Mario game (although not exactly his best), where as SMW2 is in name only to pull people into trying/buying it. It is a Yoshi game through and through. They did the same with Wario Land, calling it SML3 knowing people would more likely purchase it. Sneaky, maybe, but it prevented the crime of these games not being played as much as they deserve. Being left out is in an admittance to what they truly are, not Mario games.
@Member_the_game Both great games. SML1 has looser physics than SMB1, but, is so flipping weird and unique it deserves at least one playthrough. Can be done in as little as 20mins once you know it and has a 'new game plus' after completion. Due to its short length I have replayed it countless times, I can hope on, have a full adventure in no time and walk away happy. SML2 feels floaty to control, which can feel odd at first, but it is a great game that has some real odd moments and, indeed, enemies. Jason mask with a knife in the head stands out straight away. It's a much longer game, but can still be blasted through quickly and isn't very difficult at all. In fact the only challenge is at the end and I use the term challenge loosely. Well worth the little time it will take for you to try them out.
@HammerGalladeBro @OstianOwl Agreed. Real Monsters was a fun little game, the other two are not. Shame they didnt include some of the other 16bit releases to balance it out.

Re: Poll: So, Did You Get Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 For Switch?
@RemyMartin ShopTo, ordered it as soon as I could. May be a bit more now, but if you don't mind a little wait you will find it cheap
Re: Poll: So, Did You Get Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 For Switch?
@sketchturner perfectly fine. Only need slight movements. Yoshi's a little harder, but quickly adjusted. I got all 120 stars without frustration.
Re: Poll: So, Did You Get Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 For Switch?
Yep, physical for £42 and I have already done 120 stars on Galaxy 2 in handheld. Now trying to put it aside and do Green Stars next week, but it's calling me "Dan. Daaan. Join us! Join us in this merry land! Join us!". Why it says 'join us' like a Deadite I don't know.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (4th October)

I warn you though, you may fall in love with Trico.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (4th October)
114 stars into Galaxy 2 (handheld), going to do the last 6 and the Green Stars can wait......maybe

Re: Nintendo Highlights Super Mario's Game History In 40th Anniversary Timeline
@Member_the_game Both great games. SML1 has looser physics than SMB1, but, is so flipping weird and unique it deserves at least one playthrough.
