Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - SNES Classic Mini Console

DennyCrane

Went for Europe.
I like the art on Japanese but the box is so bright it's off putting, shame it wasn't a black background as those colours on the artwork would look fantastic popping off a dark background..
US is kinda cool with it's chunkier feel, but that console is monsterous.
Europe has the sexy console, great colours and feels inviting. A plus for Mario and Yoshi artwork too.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (22nd November)

DennyCrane

I keep meaning to play something, have done for a few weeks, but haven't as of yet. The most I have done is to be sure to buy Castlevania Advance/Dominus and Contra collections to join my Castlevania Anniversary, as I loved how the games looked on OLED and found myself playing them more due to handheld. I own all the games anyway, but it's great having ease of access and as I said, handheld.
Now, if I do play a game this weekend I think it will have to be Super Mario Odyssey, want something easy and fun. Will start a new run as I wanted to a couple of weeks back. Time to choose a file to erase...again

Re: Review: R-Type Delta: HD Boosted (Switch) - The Best R-Type? Possibly, And It's Never Looked Better

DennyCrane

@Whirlwound I never played the arcade game to be honest. Super Nintendo was my first R-type experience, Super R-Type and later III (the one I managed to get quite far on). I actually had it for the GameBoy as well. It was seeing the images of bosses that pulled me into these games. R-Type and Axelay were my go to shooters, I liked the slower more complex style of them.
Well done for your arcade achievement!!

Re: 46 Switch 1 & 2 Games You Should Check Out In The eShop 'Black Friday' Sale (Europe)

DennyCrane

@canaryfarmer Been meaning to for ages, but since I have all the games anyway (bar the arcade Contras, but I always preferred the console versions anyhow) I simply haven't done so yet. But after seeing how Anniversary looked on the OLED I have been waiting for a good sale as it got me pumped to have them on the Switch.
So looking forward to seeing Circle of the Moon on that screen, being that it is my favourite of the Metroidvanias. Blends the classic and modern beautifully and I always thought it a real shame that the team never got another shot, I honestly think we would have seen something truly special.

Re: Resident Evil Requiem Almost Had Mouse Controls, But It "Confused" The Gameplay

DennyCrane

@JohnnyMind Awesome, good for you. 4 is much action than horror, some tense moments and some gruesome looking things etc but definitely action orientated. Hope you enjoy it.
My personal favourite is REmake, so if ever you do get round to that I'd love to hear how you found it.
The newer ones though definitely lean harder into horror elements and won't hold back in doing so, so I would acquaint yourself with the older ones first for sure.

Re: Best Zelda Games Of All Time

DennyCrane

It's good to see Link's Awakening (GB) higher than DX or the Switch version, it is for me the best version and for many, many years was my favourite top down Zelda game, then Minish Cap came out which easily stands toe to toe and depending on the day, beats it. Today it does.
Zelda II is criminally overlooked or bullied into the corner. It is a fantastic game, albeit with some flaws, but the moment to moment gameplay is simply fantastic. The world and music are superb, the graphics set a unique tone that reminds me of Harryhausen. This style of Zelda really deserves to be revisited.
As for 3D, Windwaker and Breath sit at top for me

Re: Review: Blippo+ (Switch) - An Uncanny Channel-Surfing Sim That Perfectly Captures '90s TV

DennyCrane

Just came back to read it properly as only skimmed it earlier and I see you actually mentioned Bamboozle that I referenced in my last comment (I have now changed my profile picture accordingly and then realised it actually looks like Denny Crane from Boston Legal, so that worked well).
I will absolutely get this at some point soon, sounds like a nice, surreal blast from the past.
Also, I have always loved 4:3 and actually prefer it for programmes, leaving anything wider for film. I like that it has a very focus viewpoint which seems to fit better for the human eye. When watching older series that have the transition to widescreen a few seasons/series in, I always get a twinge of disappointment when it happens.

Re: Round Up: The Final Previews Are In For Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

DennyCrane

Going to copy a comment I put on Arlo's video

I have been avoiding spoilers, Metroid is one of my favourite gaming IPs and one of the reasons I still game. I wanted to go in as blind as possible, but when Arlo's video came up, something inside me said you better watch this. I am both pleased and disappointed I did. It's good to know this before I go into the game, it would have been a harder hit hearing the "he's behind me, isn't he" humour whilst playing, at least this way I am prepared. But to know it's in a Metroid game is a tough pill to swallow. I'm all for NPC's being added, building the lore and universe whilst still keeping the core intact, but I am confused with the choice to put that sort of humour. Humour can work in a game like this, banter between NPC's it could work, but the type of humour that would need is not this.
Truth is, we don't how much of the game has this, it could just be a little and at the moment I will still remain hyped, despite the tarnish, because it's a new Metroid game and I have been in love with Metroid since 1989.
Still, I can't help but repeat to myself "Why?"

I am still super looking forward to this, not many games get me as hyped as a new Metroid game and the day I hold that new cartridge in my hands is going to be a glorious one.

Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Finally Gets The Trailer We've Been Waiting For

DennyCrane

As if I needed to be any more hyped for this.
However, green area=check, desert area=check, cold area= check, lava area=check, tech area=check, c'mon guys. It's going to be fantastic, I have no doubt, but a little more alien flair in the imagination would have been nice.
As for the people, expected that after Corruption, but it did feel reminiscent of another franchise.
Either way, cant ****ing wait. Metroid is one pf my all time favourite gaming IP's and I am so grateful for another visit to an alien world with Samus. Only a few years after the last time as well.

Re: Feature: 12 Details You Might Have Missed In The Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer

DennyCrane

I will see it some day. The first one really left me disappointed. A fancy trailer showing off a bunch of recognisable stuff from the games is not going to pump me up for the film. I really do hope they produce something of worth, something with substance and not something shallow like the previous film, relying on 'look remember this in that one game', because I truly would love to end up watching it one day and really enjoying it. But, for now, I am just going to have to presume it will be the same old illumination film only with Mario characters and a watch once for the prettiness and be done with it.
I've said this before, but Mario, the Galaxy name and indeed children, deserve more than an empty, pretty film.
Man, I do hate to be negative about such things. I'll keep a quiet optimism inside me

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Dragon Power (NES)

DennyCrane

So, I'm not voting. Japanese is best overall, but the pixel art on Europe in their little boxes is a really cool touch and the cheesy, ever so eighties American one is so of it's era that it becomes highly likable and endearing. Basically, I like them all equally for different reasons.
Edit- wow, wish my comment wasn't underneath the one above, it's like I read it and said 'that will do, thanks for making my opinion'. It's embarrassingly similar

Re: Site News: Nintendo Life Turns 20 Today!

DennyCrane

Happy Birthday Nintendo Life. I have been visiting your site for 18 years now and have no intention of stopping. You guys have providing me with my Nintendo news since the day I started using the internet and I am very grateful for all you do. I big thank you to all the staff both current and past for all your hard work

Re: Zelda: A Link To The Past And Chrono Trigger Are "Ripe For Remakes", Says Analytics Firm

DennyCrane

"we're not entirely convinced it really needs a remake."
But...but...the Analytics Firm says so, they know all, you are clearly wrong. Hang on, that means I must be to!!!!
Most of the games on here are kinda obvious to be honest, people have been crying out for them for years. Arkham Origins for me, love that game and would love it to be released again. Ocarina of time given a proper modern look and a tidy up in places would be amazing too.

Re: Nintendo Shares Updated Figures For Registered Accounts And Switch Online Members

DennyCrane

I have two accounts, sadly one I have no access to for a about 6 years, which is a shame as it had all my WiiU and 3DS games.
My subscribe is done as and when I want to upload a MM2 level or something on that game, so I usually do a month or 3 every now and then. I don't do online multiplayer and have all the NES, SNES, GB, GBA games I want so really I have no use for it other than MM2. I'd like Goldeneye to play in handheld, but no way am I spending the money to rent a game. I wish they would offer an option, get the games with subscription as is, but also allow the option to purchase and download any games you want, I imagine a number of people would use that service.

Re: Switch 2 Sells Over 10 Million Units, Nintendo Increases Forecast Even Further

DennyCrane

@Striker21 To add to what is being said about the younger demographic and adults play Nintendo games more, whilst this is true, the young are becoming fans of the characters long before touching the games, via merchandise and now the films. They love the bright colourful characters and later on they try the games due to love of said characters, parental influence and learning that the games are actually really good, these then become new fans. I have seen it many times within families I know over the years. Nintendo know how to appeal to all and as I said prior, as long as they make high quality games the cycle will continue for a good while.
