We have seen barely anything and what we have, we have absolutely no context for. That said, I wish I never watched it. It has me, perhaps completely unnecessarily so, concerned. I have loved this series since the NES, when I first saw those black, endless backgrounds after that incredible, foreboding title screen and up to this point I have felt nothing but hype for Beyond.
Truth is, it will very likely be amazing and as I've said, the concern is unnecessary. The first 2 trailers were amazing after all. But, the concern IS there and perhaps it's good it is. If this doesn't quite live up to standards or has some weird gameplay mechanic or design choice (open world) that feels out of place, at least I/we had expectations tempered beforehand.
Retro/Nintendo, we need a snippet more information asap!!!
8 out of 10. Beautiful and a very well crafted game. However, hated the diagonal slash, was pleased when I could say goodbye to it. Currency kinda of annoyed me. Some checkpoints still annoy me with distance from fights. Accessibility options would be good, perhaps 1lose per hit instead of 2, heard a number of fans of Hollow Knight that think difficulty is ramped up a little too much for their tastes. Same as Hollow Knight, I'm beginning to tire of it now, so probably won't finish. It's very good, just as the first one, but I just like a shorter game and this game is made much longer due to having to repeat things and I feel done with it now.
I voted Japan. They all have their qualities, but Japan just works the best. Europe doesnt give the feel of the game (despite me being a sucker for the robots in Super Probotecor, love both versions equally) and US is just a little messy, still very cool in an 80's way
Mario Galaxy in handheld, using gyro (holding shoulder button when it comes to ball and racing levels to keep pointer centred) and touch controls with stylus on the blowing & sling levels, is my favourite way to play the game. Really looking forward to doing Galaxy 2 like that
Will do for sure. But, willing to hang on so I only have to pay £35 - £40 on the physical. It still shocks me the difference in price between digital and physical. Using Mario Wonder pre-order as an example, on digital was £49.99 I think and I pre-ordered my physical for £33 and received on the friday morning of release.
I triple jump in to a wall kick every day to get to work. Honestly tough, jumping in a video is probably the most satisfying move you can do. So very simple and yet feels great
Dude, my pitchforks were not out because you didn't finish it, surprised maybe. My pitchforks are out because you reminded me that there was once a thing called Crazy Frog!!! Why would you do that?!
As for SMB, playing that on the NES upon it's release was just magical. Being the eldest, I was Mario on multiplier runs with my brother. Of course, nowadays, Luigi is this one who gets more love, but back than you HAD to be Mario.
I'll be getting physical, which means that I'll be able to find it for £35-£40 seen as I'm not in a mad rush to get. Despite that, this pricing is atrocious.
Was not a fan of the first Mario movie, felt too much like generic Illumination movie and less Nintendo. Hopefully this one will be better. Honestly, I preferred the live action film, it was weird for sure, but it felt like its own thing and not like a bunch of other movies. I have grown fond of it over the years upon rewatches.
Yoshi shouldn't have been included as part of the 40th. Especially left to the end of the 40th presentation! One more thing, OMG what could it be?? The excitement builds, can't wait, what is it gonna be? Aaaaaaaand it's Yoshi.......WHAT?
As I said on the other article, these were £17.99 each on WiiU, it really is a disgusting price. £20-£25 would be an okay price, bumped up a little, without feeling insulting.
Madness. Game's not out and paid DLC announced. I mean at least wait a little while after release, this is just "We were gonna include it but we knew you suckers would pay for it, so we cut and decided to announce it as DLC. Now, would you kindly give us your money.....please. See, we said please, we are nice"
@1UP_MARIO Yeah I remember that, I missed out as was still using my discs then decided to get them anyway....stupid on my behalf. I actually think they were £17.99 too not £20
£20 on WiiU, £34 on Switch. I have a word for Nintendo about this, but I'll keep it to myself. They should do it as DLC for All-Stars for £20 to make up for all this
I really hope this isn't open world. Look forward to more information though. The more I think of the bike the more it just feels a little off. When it first started I thought it was MKW dlc, then as it went on I thought it was a cool little spin off and then the truth. The direct as a whole makes me wish I didn't watch it, just felt meh when it finished
Honestly, kinda reduces my hype a little, which has been insane anyway. Sure it will work amazingly but felt weird seeing the bike. Still, preordering asap
I far prefer I tightly structured game. It allows for a perfectly crafted experience that feels more focused on gameplay than plodding along for no reason than time wasting. Now that's certainly not slight against all open world games, whether 2D 0r 3D, there certainly are those that work beautifully, but so many just simply feel like what I'm doing for a large chunk of the time is pointless travelling that feels mundane and doesn't benefit the experience really. I gave up on the fast majority of open world games a while ago, sticking to those that are truly something special. My gameplay has consisted of mainly linear experiences and I'm much happier with my gaming time as a result. Games typically don't last as long, meaning I don't tire of them so quickly and less likely to put aside and never return and as I stated above, you get that perfectly crafted experience. The developers know how things are going to happen and as a result the moment to moment gameplay feels better, flows better and less likely to have those moments of boredom. Much like a perfectly edited movie.
Team Cherry been playing too much Mario Maker in their free time!
It's either gonna be found hilarious or hated with a passion, nice to see in the comments here most find it the former
Anime Boys Dating - Sexy Halloween Costumes 2.......Okay, I might be fabricating there and not the costumes. Honestly, just the release date of Metroid Prime Echoes. Perhaps a surprise Prime 2 and 3 release date or shadow drop. Super Mario stuff, of course
I understand what people are saying, but i also see across other medias and a friends in US that love Hollow Knight, that are simply finding this to hard. I was on the phone yesterday to one, a huge Hollow Knight fan who has been eagerly awaiting this and has just been getting frustrated with it.
The talk of accessibility options as being a negative seems unfair to those that really need them. People have commented on artistic vision, but it wouldn't really be compromised so much, it would be compromised if players can't see what the game has to offer. Seems Team Cherry want people to enjoy and see the game fully, hence what they have done so far.
Film has subtitles and descriptive subtitles and audio description so that those of whom struggle can still enjoy the experience, even if not as originally intended. Books have audio versions, for those that don't have the time or indeed vision to sit and read but can still enjoy the story via it being read to them.
It's really sad to hear so much bitchiness to others from either side, it leaves a worse bitter taste in the mouth about Silksong than the subject at hand.
@Athropos Because Hollow Knight and Silksong have a unique feeling and ambience about them, with stunning world and that is why people want to play it. They may not be competent enough or have the time to spend to keep repeating till they succeed, hence the desire for difficulty options. Options would in no way effect people like you, so there is no problem. What Team Cherry have done here is wrong, that does effect those that like it as it is.
@user0 yep. I used to love hard games, but nowadays I am content to often play on an easier setting and if I like it enough to replay one day I will bump up the difficulty a little. I keep my difficult games to the likes of TMNT, Ninja Gaiden, Castlvania etc on the NES. Also, not everyone is a competent gamer and can feel left out when they would like to experience a game that everyone is enjoying. Using an example, a friend of mine actually loved the look of Hollow Knight, but heard so much about it's difficulty he never bought it. You have to wonder how many people felt the same.
going to try and complete Die Hard (NES). Hopefully, will do so tomorrow, I'm kinda broken today so its going to be rewatching a few Ryukahr's (MM1) and then on to a Seinfeld binge having just binged 30 Rock again
I think it's important to take into account the sheer number of sales they will make. It's so highly anticipated and was guaranteed to sell a huge amount, most developers can't say the same. At a lower price they are still going to do extremely well out of it and having a small team helps even more.
@ozwally £20 a skin lol, can you imagine!! £140 just to play as each bond, that's movie Bonds only. Include the likes of James Bond Jr, book covers etc and throw in James Pond as well, special bundle £175, what a bargain!!
Shame he couldn't have stayed, as I've said before, not a fan of how this Bond looks. @ozwally just a select a Bond feature would have be awesome to be honest. Jumping between could make game feel odd or disconnected. Maybe DLC or hidden feature? Fingers crossed.
@nib0 I would like to clarify that what I said wasn't a knock against you putting them in the cons. They absolutely should be there, i was just commenting that they are in fact very retro game design choices.
It looks okay. Funny enough it reminds me of uncharted and given Bond looks like him (Nathan) its a little weird. Will be interested to see how this turns out, I am a Bond fan, but just not sure on this yet.
Yep, the one thing missing from Mega Man was romantic flirting. Oh, blue bomber, will you ever get together with Toad Man, who has a pelvic dance so hot that it has to rain to cool him off.
Funny enough all the 'cons' are very retro, so it very much achieves it's retro throwback, whether good or bad. Also, I love that Atari is still going strong. Bladerunner will proven correct, Atari will be around and stronger than ever in 2049
I have no interest in this at all, but pleased it going to be running well for those of whom are excited for it. I did love the description/title for Alex though, 'video producer extraordinaire Alex Olney'. Also, 'it's getting Hutt in here' was enjoyed more than it should be, although, not so happy with the ear-worm borrowing through my brain now.
@Truegamer79 I just run through main game with Arkham now and don't worry about all riddles on repeat playthroughs. First time though, probably about 15.
