Re: Xbox Is Bringing Another Game To Switch 2 In 2026

Cakefish

It’s okay, I didn’t enjoy it as much as the critic reviews did. Starts off strong but don’t really keep the momentum going. It starts feeling very formulaic after a while, every level has the same repetitive core structure and enemies. For much of the game it’s more of a series of mini scenarios rather than one cohesive narrative thread. Once the story does finally start to gain a clear direction the best character catfish gets majorly sidelined and it focuses instead on the protagonist's very unlikeable grandma. It’s okay but didn’t live up to my initial expectations.

Re: Talking Point: Six Months Since Launch, How Would You Rate Switch 2?

Cakefish

I was tempted to give a 9 to justify my purchase, but I’d just be lying to myself. So I give it an 8. I find myself more enticed at the idea of what’s still to come rather than what we’ve already had.

The hardware is good, love the performance boosts, just the obvious downgrade in battery life coming from Switch OLED is never not going to be somewhat disappointing to me.

Sonic x Shadow Generations, Kirby & the Forgotten Land, and Metroid Prime 4 are the Switch 2 games that I’ve purchased and played since launch. Too early for me to from an opinion on the latter, but the former two are great games (I’m particularly fond of Kirby) and hopefully I’ll soon be able to say the same for Metroid too.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the updates to some of my favourite Switch 1 games such as Splatoon 3. It was good to see Nintendo fixing Nier Automata and many other backwards compatibility issues. Third party support overall has felt mixed though, with games like Once Upon a Katamari coming out without proper Switch 2 support which is just a shame to see honestly — room for improvement here.

It’s good. Very good. I’m looking forward to seeing how they will build on these solid foundations. Just needs that extra spice for me to be able upgrade my score to a 9 in time for the first year anniversary. Metroid Prime 4 could well be that secret ingredient, but if not let’s see what the first half of 2026 brings.

Re: More Switch Games Receive Compatibility Updates For Switch 2

Nier Automata being fixed is a huge deal. It means my entire Switch library is now fully compatible. I’m so relieved Nintendo have shown they truly care about backwards compatibility, they could’ve easily left these games in limbo forever but they seem to be on a mission to fix every last one and that’s great to see.

Re: Talking Point: Smashing Switch 2 Numbers Prove Nintendo's Strategy Is Super Effective

@Porco it’s a good point, will it be a repeat of Splatoon 3 that sold mad numbers early on and then just kinda suddenly petered out and so still (AFAIK) has yet to overtake Splatoon 2? I could foresee a potential situation where sales of Switch 2 are front-loaded by mega fans of original Switch, like most of us here in the comments lol

Time will tell, but I’m going to lean on the optimistic side for now. I think (and hope) they can keep this momentum going in years two and three. Though we’re never going to see a mid-gen pandemic bump like the original enjoyed, so maybe Nintendo will release a more spicy mid-gen upgrade to try to account for that.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Direct September Predictions - What Do You Hope To See?

Cakefish

Why on earth does the poll lack Metroid Prime 4?! My top answer is undoubtedly Metroid Prime 4!

I would also like to know more about Splatoon Raiders.

For third party, I’d like to see some upcoming 2026 games such as Code Vein 2 be announced for simultaneous release on Switch 2.

And some more info on The Duskbloods would be good, I’m a little wary about the multiplayer focus though.

Re: Talking Point: Is Hollow Knight: Silksong Too Difficult?

Cakefish

@SirVick fair enough, glad we cleared that up! There’s a difference between positively rewarding dedicated players with an achievement, badge etc. and actively punishing/shaming players using accessibility options. That’s why alarm bells were set off in my head when reading through your initial comment!

Re: Talking Point: Is Hollow Knight: Silksong Too Difficult?

Cakefish

@SirVick there are countless articles discussing the difficulty of From Software games though. Here’s just one example from PushSquare: https://www.pushsquare.com/features/soapbox-i-tried-so-hard-to-like-elden-ring-but-i-just-couldnrt-do-it

Now I just gotta say that your suggestion to slap a clown emoji of shame on the save files of people who use accessibility options is frankly a little bit ghoulish. I’m sorry, not attacking you personally here, but this concept of shaming disabled people I disagree strongly with. I do not want to see any developer discriminate against disabled people for using accessibility options just for the sake of a few people’s online bragging rights. Any developer that tries this will lose my respect and support.

Re: Talking Point: Is Hollow Knight: Silksong Too Difficult?

Cakefish

The original was far too difficult for me, so I haven’t even bothered with the sequel lol

I’ll stick to Elden Ring and Dark Souls. That’s not sarcasm, I genuinely find From Software games easier than Hollow Knight (I guess Sekiro on par as I could never master that one either!). Team Cherry found the threshold where it crosses over from being very challenging to simply being inaccessible for me.

Re: Review: Kirby And The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World - Kirby's Best Shines Even Brighter

I downloaded the demo years ago, thought it was quite nice, but ultimately never pulled the trigger on a purchase. It’s just been chilling in my eShop wishlist ever since. I think this might just be the thing that tips me over the edge and gets me to buy my first Kirby game. I really do loves me some 60fps goodness. I’m travelling soon and this would be the perfect travel game that can be played in short bursts.
