I'm still playing Fantasian NEO Dimension (Switch) and loving it, as well as Sonic Advance (GBA), which plays much more like a Genesis Sonic game than I was expecting (awesome)!
My kids have been really into Sonic lately. They've been playing Sonic the Hegehog (Genesis Mini), Sonic the Hedgehog 2 ,(Genesis Mini), Sonic CD (Sonic Origins - Switch) , Sonic Advance (GBA), and Sonic X Shadow Generations (Switch), and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (Genesis Mini).
We've been playing both Super Famicom Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon games together. For Sailor Moon R, we enjoy the main game but have a lot of fun with the vs fighting mode they added to it.
My kids and I are SUPER excited for the Goemon collection that was announced this week! We've all beaten the N64 and Super Famicom/SNES ones, and I beat the DS one. We can't wait to try the one that looks like Ganbare Goemon 2 but for the GBC, Ganbare Goemon: Seikuushi Dynamites Arawaru!!
I can't wait for this! I'm super excited about trying Ganbare Goemon: Seikuushi Dynamites Arawaru!! since it looks a lot like GBC Ganbare Goemon 2 but is fairly expensive to import.
@SpacedDuck I imported the Super Famicom (and DS) games that didn't come here awhile back, and my kids and I loved really them! We were able to beat them all with translation guides well enough if your'e at all interested in importing the collection.
I'm playing Fantasian NEO Dimension (Switch), and my kids are playing Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection (Switch). We've been playing a ton of Super Mario Kart (SNES) together.
My 12-yr old beat me on Super Mario Bros. (NES) when we did a quick playthrough. We both beat it with the 1-2 and 4-2 shortcuts, but I got hit once by a cheap Cheep Cheep in 8-4 and he never got hit.
I'm playing Fantasian: NEO Dimension (Switch) and the Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined demo (Switch). My kids are playing Super Mario Galaxy (Switch) and Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection (Switch).
We've been playing co-op The Legend of the Mystical Ninja (SNES), 2P Super Mario Bros. (NES) and TimeSplitters 2 (GameCube) together, and then Sunset Riders (Switch) as a family.
I beat Mega Man 64 (N64), so I've been playing Fantasian: NEO Dimension (Switch) and the Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined demo (Switch). Both have been great so far! Man, I really wish Square Enix had done the Final Fantasy VII remake something more like what they did with DQVII.
My kids have been playing Luigi's Mansion (GameCube), Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection (Switch), and TimeSplitters 2 (GameCube). We've also been playing a lot of TimeSplitters 2 multiplayer together. They love Virus mode
I beat Mega Man 64 (N64) this week, and then after New Year's, I went through The Legend of the Mystical Ninja (SNES) with my 9-yr-old, Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES), Rockman & Forte (Super Famicom).
My 9-yr-old also beat Rockman (Switch - MM Legacy Collection) this week, and my 12-yr-old beat Mega Man 2 (NES), Super Mario Bros. (NES Classic) and is about to finish Mega Man 3 (NES).
We've been playing Super Bomberman R (Switch) and the tabletop Pac-Man game as a family.
I'm playing Mega Man 64 (N64) and Gokujou Parodius (Super Famicom). I got them for Christmas!
My kids are playing Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection (Switch) and Star Fox 64 (3DS). They got a bunch of other games for Christmas - Luigi's Mansion (GameCube), Star Fox Assault (GameCube), TimeSplitters 2 (GameCube), Rockman & Forte (Super Famicom), Sonic Advance (Game Boy Advance) - so I'm sure those will be next!
I said I hoped for another Final Fantasy more like IV-VII. Turn-based battles, a real world map, flyable airship, and blue menus with bar borders. I don't know that they can do this anymore, but it really needs a good story with quality characters too. Bonus points for smaller world map characters and larger battle characters (only VI in my group didn't do this)
My kids got back into Mega Man since the Mega Man: Dual Override announcement, so we've been playing a ton of those.
I beat Mega Man 11 (Switch) on Normal, Mega Man X 4 (Sega Saturn), and Rockman X4 (Switch). My 9yr old beat Mega Man X 4 (Sega Saturn), Mega Man X 3 (SNES), Mega Man X (SNES Classic), and is playing Mega Man X 2 (SNES). My 12yr-old beat Mega Man 11 (Switch) on Normal, Mega Man X (SNES Classic) and is playing Mega Man X 2 (SNES Classic).
I finished Illusion of Gaia (SNES) and Ganbare Goemon DS, and now I playing a bunch of Sega Saturn - Christmas NiGHTS into Dreams, Mega Man X 4, Shining Wisdom, Virtua Cop, etc.
In celebration of Mega Man: Dual Override getting announced, my 9yr-old beat Mega Man X (SNES) in a quick, single sitting yesterday, but is currently playing Zelda: Ocarina of Time (3DS). My 12yr-old is playing through Ganbare Goemon DS with a translation guide. Both of them want to enter the Dr. Wily Robot Master design contest for MM:DO.
We've been playing Super Bomberman R (Switch) and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch) as a family, selecting all of the snow levels in Mario Kart since it's close to Christmas. (shameless plug ) The Legend of Santa (Switch) is getting a lot of playtime as well.
I'm almost at the end of Ganbare Goemon DS and Illusion of Gaia. Goemon was unfortunately only released in Japan, so I've been playing it with a step-by-step guide since I don't know Japanese.
My kids are playing The Legend of the Mystical Ninja (SNES) and Super Mario Odyssey (Switch). We've been playing Sunset Riders (Switch - Arcade Archives) and still a bunch of Super Bomberman R (Switch) as a family.
I plan to pull out my Sega Saturn this weekend so we can play Christmas NiGHTS into Dreams since it's that time of year.
I'm a little over halfway through Ganbare Goemon DS and Illusion of Gaia (SNES).
My 9yr-old just beat Goldeneye 007 (N64) on Agent this week and is about halfway through Ganbare Goemon 3 and 4 (Super Famicom). My 12-year old just beat Goemon's Great Adventure (N64). We've also been playing Goldeneye 3-player multiplayer.
Super Bomberman R (Switch) is still getting a lot of playtime as a family, and we're also playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge (Switch).
I played through Final Fight 2 (SNES) this week, and my kids have been playing Super Bomberman R (Switch) and Ganbare Goemon 2 (Super Famicom). We've been playing a ton of Bomberman as a family this week, along with a little bit of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch).
I finished up Goldeneye 007 (N64) on Secret Agent this week (love this game!), along with Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon (Game Boy), so now I'm back on Dragon Quest VI (Super Famicom).
My kids are playing Goemon's Great Adventure (N64) and Dragon Ball GT: Transformation (Game Boy Advance).
As a family, we ordered pizza last night, played 4P Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, and watched the original 1990 TMNT movie
I don't think Yamauchi would be envious (I hope not!). Nintendo became a household name during his tenure and the word Nintendo was so synonymous with video games that they instructed retail stores to not refer to them as Nintendo games
I'm playing Goldeneye 007 (N64) on Secret Agent (at Control), as well as Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon (Game Boy). This isn't my favorite Goemon game, but I've beaten all of the other ones released in the US this year (and some Japan-only), so I wanted to beat it too .
My kids are playing Ganbare Goemon 4 (Super Famicom), Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon (N64) (amazing game!), and Goldeneye 007 on Agent.
I loved the original Hyrule Warriors so much (beat both the Wii U and Switch versions Legend and Adventure modes), but I really didn't care fore Age of Calamity at all. I wish they'd make another Hyrule Warriors more like the original.
I just beat Goemon's Great Adventure (N64) this morning. It's a really awesome game, and definitely my favorite N64 side-scroller. Both of my kids are in the middle of playing it themselves.
I've been playing Goldeneye 007 (N64 multiplayer with my kids. I'm thinking about going through it on Secret Agent again as my next game.
I'm also playing co-op The Legend of the Mystical Ninja (SNES) with my 12yr-old. We're at the second to last level. One we beat it, I'm also thinking about going through Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon (GB) since it would be the only US Goemon game left to beat this year.
(Shameless plug ) Since it's close to Halloween, I'm also playing Chapter 3 of The Legend of Santa (Switch/PS5).
1) NES and CRT TV if I have the cartridge 2) NES Classic if included and don't have the cartridge 3) Switch or other console collection 4) 3DS Virtual Console downloads if on the road 5) RetroN 5 if I have the cartridge and want save states (not too often though! )
We're all still playing Goemon games! I just beat Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon (N64) and started a new file on Goemon's Great Adventure (N64) after watching my kids start one. It's always been my favorite N64 side-scroller.
My kids are also playing Konami Krazy Racers (GBA) again since it has Goemon and Ebisumaru in it , and my 9yr-old just beat Ganbare Goemon 2 (Super Famicom).
I'm still playing Dragon Quest VI (Super Famicom), but my kids and I have been playing a lot of Ganbare Goemon games this week!
I'm about halfway through my replay of Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon (N64), and my kids replayed Ganbare Goemon 2 (Super Famicom) and are now playing 4 (Super Famicom) for the fist time. They beat 2 and 3 earlier this year.
If anyone hasn't played Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon and loves classic Zelda, be sure to give it a try. It's fantastic.
I've typically bought 5-10 games at retail year, usually at the original asking price. Even though I've basically been Nintendo-exclusive since the Wii, and have all previous Nintendo consoles and handhelds, I haven't bought a Switch 2 due to so many third-party games using key cards.
I expect to buy games at the same pace next year, but I assume my purchases will be almost entirely retro unless a Switch 1 game I want comes on a genuine game card or Nintendo starts offering their classic games for purchase like the Virtual Console. I do have the Switch 1 version of Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined pre-ordered, so there's one "new" game next year
I'm playing Dragon Quest VI (Super Famicom). My 12yr-old is at the last area of Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon (N64), and m 9yr-old is playing Ganbare Goemon 3 (Super Famicom).
We're also still playing tons of Super Mario Kart (SNES). My kids are getting really good at it, so it's a lot of fun!
My kids have been into Donkey Kong this week, so they've been playing Donkey Kong Country 1-3 (SNES), and I played 1 and 3 co-op with them as well. We've also still been playing Super Mario Kart (SNES), and they've still been playing Dragon Ball FighterZ.
I finally beat Lunar 2: Eternal Blue (Switch), completing both games on the collection, so I've been playing Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) and Alundra (PS1), and then Super Mario Kart (SNES) and 3P Secret of Mana (SNES Classic) with the kids.
My kids have been playing a mix of Dragon Ball games - Dragon Ball Advance Adventure (GBA), Dragon Ball FighterZ (Switch), and Dragon Ball GT Transformation (GBA), along with some Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch).
I'm going between the Epilogue after beating Lunar 2 (Switch - Lunar Remastered Collection) to get the real ending, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES).
My kids are playing Dragon Ball Advance Adventure (GBA), Dragon Ball FighterZ (Switch), and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch).
We're at the Upper Lands together in 3P Secret of Mana (Switch - Collection of Mana) and are still playing tons of Super Mario Kart (SNES).
I'm finally at the last boss on Lunar 2 (Switch - Lunar Remastered Collection. Both of the included games are awesome if you haven't gotten the chance to play them.
My kids have been playing Dragon Ball FighterZ and Zelda: Breath of the Wild (both Switch). We've also still been playing lots of Super Mario Kart (SNES) and 3-player Secret of Mana (Switch - Collection of Mana).
@DennyCrane It's probably a good idea to stay off social media I don't know if any of them don't require a sign on (maybe Instagram?), so I just added a page for the game on my portfolio. The page can be found through the link in my bio, but here's a direct link:
The game was probably overdue to get a page, and now everything is in one place! I haven't figured out a name yet, but I've been working on lots of environments, characters, and monsters.
@DennyCrane Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying it.
I added new features and secrets to each chapter as I made them, so I hope you enjoy the rest of the game as well. Chapter 4 was added in a free update that came out this July and takes place over Santa's vacation.
I am working on a new game now. It's still pretty early in development, but I've been posting weekly mockup screenshots on my personal social media pages if you're interested in taking a look!
I'm at the Black Fiend on Lunar 2 (Switch) the kids are still playing lots of Mega Man. My 12yr-old beat Mega Man 3 on my NES and my 8yr-old beat Mega Man 7 (Switch) without checkpoint save scumming.
I started playing 3-player Secret of Mana with the kids, which has been awesome! I never had the SNES multiplayer adapter, but Collection of Mana (Switch) allows it. I've wanted to try 3-players for 30 years
I'm still playing Lunar 2 (Switch), but the kids and I have been replaying a bunch of Mega Man games!
My 12yr-old is going through Mega Man 3 on my NES, and my 8yr-old beat Mega Man 7 (Switch) on his own (he recently beat Mega Man X 3 on his own as well). I just beat Mega Man 7 (SNES) and 8 (Switch) and am playing through 9.
We've also still been playing a ton of Super Mario Kart (SNES) and then 4P TMNT Shredder's Revenge (Switch) with mommy!
I'm still working my way through Lunar 2 (Switch - Lunar Remastered Collection). I've also been playing a ton of Super Mario Kart (SNES) with the kids and just got to Doppler's fortress in Mega Man X 3 (SNES).
My kids have been practicing a lot on Super Mario Kart and playing a bit of Luigi's Mansion 3 (Switch).
My 8yr-old also played and beat Mega Man X 3 without any assistance this week!
I'm about halfway through Lunar 2: Eternal Blue (Switch), and I've been playing a ton of Super Mario Kart (SNES) with the kids. They're at the point where they can beat me occasionally! They've also been playing Mega Man X (SNES Classic) and Mega Man X 4 (Switch).
I'm back on Lunar 2 (Switch - Lunar Remastered Collection) after beating Pokemon Gold, and I've been playing Super Mario Kart (SNES) and Super Mario 3D World (Switch), Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon (Super Famicom), and Final Fight (Switch - Capcom Beat 'em Up Collection) with the kids.
They've also been playing Super Mario Kart on their own, Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure (GBA), Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Switch), and Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii).
Since we have two Dragon Ball cartridges, we decided to try the vs mode after unlocking characters by linking GBAs. It's simple, think it may be my favorite Dragon Ball (any universe) fighting game.
I'm about to the Elite Four on Pokemon Gold (Game Boy Color), and then I'll be back on Lunar 2 (Switch - Lunar Remastered Collection) after that. I've also been playing The Legend of Santa (Switch/PS5) again with the new chapter that just came out in the free update.
My kids have been playing a lot of different games across lots of systems this week: Yoshi's Crafted World (Switch), Dragon Ball FighterZ (Switch), Dragon Ball SagaZ (GameCube), Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii), and Pokemon Silver (Game Boy Color). We've also been playing a bit of Super Mario 3D World together.
I've been cruising through Pokemon Gold (Game Boy Color) which slowed me down on Lunar 2 (Switch Lunar Remastered Collection).
My kids have been bouncing between Pokemon Alpha/Sapphire Omega Ruby on their 3DSs (trading Pokemon), Pokemon Silver (GBC), Luigi's Mansion 2 (3DS), and Dragon Ball FighterZ (Switch).
I'm playing Lunar 2 (Lunar Remastered Collection - Switch) and Pokemon Gold (Game Boy Color).
My kids got Pokemon Silver (GBC) for good grades that they've playing on their Retron 5, which has save states so they can each have their own file using the same cartridge. It's been really fun to play Gold at the same time they're playing Silver. They're also still playing Dragon Ball FighterZ (Switch).
Most of my Switch 1 library is from third parties. Many of them are ports/collections/remasters that I bought again simply because they were on a real game card. I prefer the cards over discs.
@Jhena Thank you! Yeah, they're really into them and love the originals of Mario, Mega Man/X, Sonic, Donkey Kong Country, and others.
I started them off with NES/SNES Classic and Genesis mini consoles in their room, and they've been growing up watching me replay a lot on the original consoles and playing with me on the 2-player games. They also play a lot of retro collections on the Switch (Mega Man, Sonic, TMNT, etc.) and we play things like Sunset Riders and the TMNT games as a family (mom included!).
I finally beat Lunar 1 and started Lunar 2 (Lunar Remastered Collection - Switch)! I'd love to see another RPG in the spirit of these some day.
My kids have been really into Dragon Ball Z lately, so I ordered Dragon Ball Z: Hyper Dimension (Super Famicom) for us to try. It should be here this week. They've also been playing a lot of Dragon Ball FighterZ (Switch) and Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure (GBA).
Lastly, my kids have been playing a lot of Super Mario Kart (SNES), so I've been playing that with them as well.
Just finished Lunar 1 on Lunar Remastered Collection (Switch) and started Lunar 2.
My kids have been jumping between Konami Krazy Racers (GBA) and Dragon Ball FighterZ (Switch)
I came across a game I hadn't played before that ended up being awesome - Mystic Warriors. It's like Sunset Riders, but futuristic. It's now in the rotation of 4-player family games.
Finally, I've been playing a lot of The Legend of Santa (Switch) lately. I'm putting the finishing touch on Chapter 4, which should be available in July.
I'm working on finishing up Lunar 1 on Lunar Remastered Collection (Switch) .
I imported Ganbare Goemon Tōkai Dōchū Ōedo Tengu ri Kaeshi no Maki (DS) and am playing that together with the kids since they like Goemon games.
My kids are also playing Super Mario RPG (SNES Classic) and Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu! (Switch).
Finally, we've been playing TMNT: Shredder's Revenge as a family (Switch). This one's always in the Switch rotation with Sunset Riders, Mario Kart 8, and Super Bomberman R.

Re: Konami And M2 Announce New Goemon Switch Collection, Here Are The 13 Retro Titles Included

@SpacedDuck I imported the Super Famicom (and DS) games that didn't come here awhile back, and my kids and I loved really them! We were able to beat them all with translation guides well enough if your'e at all interested in importing the collection.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (1st November)
@Aki77 Yeah the boss battles were a little rough in 4. I wish they had done more traditional boss battles like the previous ones.
I really like all of the Super Famicom ones though. 2 is amazing I love 3 as well. Is there any Goemon game without an awesome soundtrack ?

5) RetroN 5 if I have the cartridge and want save states (not too often though!

Re: Community: 32 Switch Games We Missed, As Recommended By You
Thanks for the shout out! Santa's got you on the nice list
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (11th October)
Re: Final Fantasy VII / VIII Remastered Twin Pack And IX Switch Physical Releases Confirmed For North America
I bought physical copies from Playasia when they first came out, but this is definitely a case of better later than never!
Re: Poll: How Many New Games Do You Buy In A Year?
I've typically bought 5-10 games at retail year, usually at the original asking price. Even though I've basically been Nintendo-exclusive since the Wii, and have all previous Nintendo consoles and handhelds, I haven't bought a Switch 2 due to so many third-party games using key cards.
I expect to buy games at the same pace next year, but I assume my purchases will be almost entirely retro unless a Switch 1 game I want comes on a genuine game card or Nintendo starts offering their classic games for purchase like the Virtual Console. I do have the Switch 1 version of Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined pre-ordered, so there's one "new" game next year
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (4th October)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (27th September)
I'm playing Dragon Quest VI (Super Famicom).
My kids have been into Donkey Kong this week, so they've been playing Donkey Kong Country 1-3 (SNES), and I played 1 and 3 co-op with them as well. We've also still been playing Super Mario Kart (SNES), and they've still been playing Dragon Ball FighterZ.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (20th September)
I just started Dragon Quest VI (Super Famicom). It's really fun so far!
My kids are playing Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon (Nintendo 64) and Dragon Quest FighterZ (Switch).
I've still been playing lots of Super Mario Kart (SNES) with them, but we've also started a co-op playthrough of Donkey Kong Country 3 (SNES).
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (6th September)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (30th August)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (23rd August)
Re: Christmas Comes Early In This Blatant Super Mario Bros. 3 Clone
@DennyCrane It's probably a good idea to stay off social media
I don't know if any of them don't require a sign on (maybe Instagram?), so I just added a page for the game on my portfolio. The page can be found through the link in my bio, but here's a direct link:
http://joshuabringle.com/projects/next-project/index.html
The game was probably overdue to get a page, and now everything is in one place!
I haven't figured out a name yet, but I've been working on lots of environments, characters, and monsters.
I really appreciate the support!
Re: Christmas Comes Early In This Blatant Super Mario Bros. 3 Clone
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (9th August)
I've wanted to try 3-players for 30 years
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (2nd August)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (26th July)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (19th July)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (12th July)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (5th July)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (28th June)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (21st June)
Re: Third-Party Launch Games On Switch 2 Reportedly Sold "Very Low Numbers"
Most of my Switch 1 library is from third parties. Many of them are ports/collections/remasters that I bought again simply because they were on a real game card. I prefer the cards over discs.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (14th June)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (14th June)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (7th June)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (31st May)
I'm working on finishing up Lunar 1 on Lunar Remastered Collection (Switch) .
