It will probably never happen, but imagine if this leads to, instead of a new Smash Bros., Sakurai working on Nintendo's own version of Astro Bot, only with multiple Kirbies using Nintendo character hats/costumes in place of the little robots.
Funny how circumstances led to the Galar region pokémon being properly introduced much later than the ones from the game that came after (a few exceptions aside).
I wonder if there will still be any missing by the time of the 30th anniversary/Gen 10.
Considering how I've heard that there are people who purposefully ignore the indie directs, it may be a good idea to keep including them alongside other events for greater visibility from now on.
There are people that grade a Direct exclusively on how many games were announced that they would want to buy and play, while others grade it on the games they want but also on the impact of the whole offering for the Switch and/or modern consoles as a whole. I'm on the latter camp, so despite only being interested in actually buying one or two of the new stuff announced, I'd say it was a pretty good show.
Going by the comments about the first game not having any changes to the script beyond corrected typos, it's a good thing there weren't any real inconsistencies that needed to be retconned.
Going by what they're doing with Echoes of Wisdom, I imagine a Ganon/Ganondorf-led game would be much more action-oriented and be called "________ of Power".
It sure would be better if it was a lower price, but a casual reminder that the main target audience for these re-releases are people who haven't touched a Nintendo console for a long time (if ever), not those who definitely bought the original version; for this broader audience, it may as well be a new game.
One potentially important factor is how available the original game has been and for how long. In the case of TTYD, which never saw a re-release in two decades and could only be played through official means by paying a pretty penny online, US$60 is fair.
@Dylansuxx @Jokerwolf People should absolutely be allowed to disagree and have different opinions.
The problem is that a lot of the time when it comes to discussions about Pokémon games, people choose to express their dislike for the games in kind of an insufferable way, either by being overly emotional about it, stating personal opinions as if they were objective facts, acting smug about how better they are for never playing/having dropped the series, and just generally encouraging people to have no hope for the future.
Of course, that's not to say people can't be just as annoying when defending the games or attacking critics/haters (especially when they do it preemptively).
I'm getting the game either way at a later date, but I'm willing to wait for a potential confirmation that the next console will indeed boost the performance of Switch games.
This is a game I'm definitely getting, but I'd rather wait until we know more about the next console to confirm if it's backwards-compatible AND if/how OG Switch games do get boosted. Worst-case scenario, 30fps wouldn't be a dealbreaker in the slightest.
It would have been so funny in the video if, instead of only Marios, the character select screen near the end only had Foxes. And at least he specified that he was talking about the DLC roster, since it would feel weird otherwise considering how some of the echo fighters (like Daisy and Dark Samus) play exactly like their counterparts for no good reason.
I was almost certain this had been already released in the west and was quietly ignored - glad to be wrong on that front. Hopefully this gets the attention of the right people online.
While I can't attest to PPS's actual quality due to being in no real rush to play it, some people here sure sound like jerks in the way they express their disdain for it.
It would be great on paper, though I have my doubts on how well the game would run on the Switch, which is especially important considering how crucial following the beat can be for the gameplay.
It's really exciting that he's mentioned the RE Engine.
I've mentioned it before, but I kind of hope we get the Investigations duology and Vs. Layton (the latter now less improbable due to Level-5 resuming operations on the west) before AA7. Both so the whole story is available in modern consoles before moving it forward, and to make sure the new game looks as great as possible on the Switch 2 or whatever it will be called.
@Paraka The visual side of things is definitely less intensive than in their AAA titles, but the writing side of things probably takes a lot of time...

Re: Castlevania Dominus Collection Physical Pre-Orders Are Now Open
I would be fine with the standard edition if the whole scheduling didn't complicate matters.
Re: Random: Sakurai And Team Asobi Exchange Pleasantries Over Astro Bot

How am I only learning now that Slay the Princess is coming to the Switch.
Re: Review: Pizza Tower (Switch) - An Ingenious Platformer That Beats Wario At His Own Game
@LastFootnote Each floor has four levels.
Re: New Pokémon GO Season Welcomes Galarian Starters, 'Max Battles', UK-Exclusive Encounter & More

Re: Soapbox: The Next Pokémon Game Should Rework Old Critters, Not Just Add Dozens More
I agree with more than a few of your points, but the tone really makes you sound like one of THOSE Pokémon fans.
Re: Round Up: Pokémon World Championships 2024 - Is The Competitive Event At A Turning Point?
@Serebii I see, thank you.
Re: Reaction: Shadow Drops & Surprises - A Stuffed Direct With Something For Everyone

I wish there were more details about what was talked about during those Pokémon Talks.
Re: Review: Bakeru (Switch) - Good-Feel's Carefree Platformer For Goemon Lovers Makes It To The West
I still have to play the demo, but it seems promising.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Contra: Hard Corps / Probotector
Thanks to the recent Vampire Survivors DLC, I now know some of these characters instead of none.
Anyway, I'm picking the JP box for this one.
Re: Hands On: 'Ace Attorney Investigations Collection' Devs Discuss California Rolls, Chibi Sprites & Puns
Going by the comments about the first game not having any changes to the script beyond corrected typos, it's a good thing there weren't any real inconsistencies that needed to be retconned.
Re: Rumour: 'Tales Of Xillia Remastered' Switch Release Spotted Online
Good for the fans, though I'm still waiting for a re-release of Tales of Berseria.
Re: Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition Hololive VTuber Tournament Announced
I see the Nintendo Life audience is not particularly receptive to VTubers.
Re: The Pokemon Company Will Be One Of The 'Line-Up Highlights' At Gamescom
@Tainaru If it was Project Bloom, it would be Game Freak on the lineup, not the Pokémon Company itself.
Re: Talking Point: Could Ganondorf Ever Be The Star Of A Zelda Game?
Going by what they're doing with Echoes of Wisdom, I imagine a Ganon/Ganondorf-led game would be much more action-oriented and be called "________ of Power".
Re: New Octopath Traveler Art Celebrates Game's 6th Anniversary On Switch
I like how this is playing with the interpretation that boss-level human opponents literally grow in size for no discernible reason for the battle.
Also, for anyone interested, Octopath II is currently US$35 on the eShop!
Re: Video: What Order Should You Play Kingdom Hearts?
I have no horse in this race, but some of the comments here made me realize I was logged off and nobody was blocked/ignored.
Re: Obscure '90s Mascot Platformer 'Aero The Acro-Bat' Makes Surprise Return
Strange that it's just the first game and not a collection with the sequel (plus the actually connected Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel).
Re: Soapbox: Has Nintendo Set A Precedent That 'Switch 2' Can't Hope To Match?
I think one deciding factor may be which games they keep exclusive to the new platform rather than making them cross-gen.
Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Costs $60 On Switch

Re: UK Charts: Elden Ring Can't Topple EA Sports FC 24 As Euro 2024 Is In Full Swing
I didn't expect to see Pokémon Legends Arceus on this list, much less as the only Pokémon title. Makes me wonder how its overall sales are going.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Who Is Sylux?
I just realized that there's potential in a whole Hunters remake, especially if it includes a proper multiplayer mode.
Re: FromSoftware Boss Wouldn't Allow Studio Layoffs To Happen, Cites Satoru Iwata
There's hoping the new console will house more FromSoftware games than just the first Dark Souls - they deserve the audience.
Re: Round Up: Yacht Club Games Presents - Every Shovel Knight Switch Announcement And Much More
I MIGHT double-dip with the DX version if they release a physical cartridge... and my finances allow it.
Re: Poll: Is $60 Too Much For Nintendo's Switch Re-Releases?

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Bravely Default
The NA/JP version (especially the latter due to the subtitle) wins to me for being much more meaningful to the narrative.
Re: Team Bucket List Triumphs In Splatoon 3's Apocalypse-Themed Splatfest
@AlexanderDaniels I'm kind of worried that there's a deeper meaning to this.
Or maybe people just wanted Frye to win.

Re: Rumour: Pokémon Leaker Suggests Gen 10 Games Are Coming In 2026
@Joeynator3000 Not with that attitude.
No, really, what does this comment contribute to the discussion?
Re: Rumour: Pokémon Leaker Suggests Gen 10 Games Are Coming In 2026
@Joeynator3000 You must think you're so funny.
Re: New Limited-Time Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Distribution Now Available
@Lizuka Maybe they just like its standard colors more than the shiny variation. I know I do.
Re: Poll: Are You Bothered By The Frame Rate For Paper Mario: TTYD On Switch?

Re: Review: Rose & Camellia Collection (Switch) - An Enjoyably Absurd Yet Frustrating Slapathon
I'm glad this game didn't fall through the cracks for the reviewing selection, even with the issues that affected its score. I'll likely get it later.
Re: Random: "No Differences, No Fun!" - Sakurai Talks Unique Fighters In Smash Ultimate's DLC
It would have been so funny in the video if, instead of only Marios, the character select screen near the end only had Foxes.

Re: New Mario RPG Survey Acknowledges Existence Of Mario & Luigi Series
I wonder how exactly they pick who gets those surveys... it sure would be nice to give my two cents.
Re: Nintendo Download: 28th March (North America)
I'm surprised there's actually a Girl Genius game. Hopefully it's as good as the webcomic.

Re: Review: Princess Peach: Showtime! (Switch) - Peach Breaks A Leg In A High-Class Production
Nice to know it seems to be a good time, even though I'm in no particular rush to play it.
I'd just like to comment that "break a leg" is such a weird expression for what it means.
Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Is Apparently Set "Entirely" Within Lumiose City
I'm very curious to see how it's going to work.
Re: Talking Point: Pokémon Presents Predictions - What Are You Expecting?
You're not helping, Gavin.
Re: Talking Point: As A Nintendo Fan, Do You Really Need To Play The Virtual Boy?
I think ports of these games with adjusted colors would be more than welcome.
Re: Hi-Fi Rush Datamine Lends Weight To Switch Port Rumours
It would be great on paper, though I have my doubts on how well the game would run on the Switch, which is especially important considering how crucial following the beat can be for the gameplay.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 27th)
@Zeroo Maybe it's less that it's a problem with Pokémon and more that your own tastes changed.
Re: Random: Persona 3 Reload On Switch? "The Idea Is There" Says Director
I feel it's much more likely that they will release it for the Switch 2 (or whatever it will be called).
Re: Ace Attorney Fans Rejoice, The Franchise Is Not Stopping Anytime Soon
@Nickinator They didn't specify. At the very least, it's a confirmation that the franchise is under no risk of becoming dormant like so many others.
Re: Ace Attorney Fans Rejoice, The Franchise Is Not Stopping Anytime Soon
It's really exciting that he's mentioned the RE Engine.
I've mentioned it before, but I kind of hope we get the Investigations duology and Vs. Layton (the latter now less improbable due to Level-5 resuming operations on the west) before AA7.
