It will probably never happen, but imagine if this leads to, instead of a new Smash Bros., Sakurai working on Nintendo's own version of Astro Bot, only with multiple Kirbies using Nintendo character hats/costumes in place of the little robots.

Considering how I've heard that there are people who purposefully ignore the indie directs, it may be a good idea to keep including them alongside other events for greater visibility from now on.

There are people that grade a Direct exclusively on how many games were announced that they would want to buy and play, while others grade it on the games they want but also on the impact of the whole offering for the Switch and/or modern consoles as a whole.
I'm on the latter camp, so despite only being interested in actually buying one or two of the new stuff announced, I'd say it was a pretty good show.

I wish there were more details about what was talked about during those Pokémon Talks.

Strange that it's just the first game and not a collection with the sequel (plus the actually connected Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel).

I think one deciding factor may be which games they keep exclusive to the new platform rather than making them cross-gen.

It sure would be better if it was a lower price, but a casual reminder that the main target audience for these re-releases are people who haven't touched a Nintendo console for a long time (if ever), not those who definitely bought the original version; for this broader audience, it may as well be a new game.

One potentially important factor is how available the original game has been and for how long. In the case of TTYD, which never saw a re-release in two decades and could only be played through official means by paying a pretty penny online, US$60 is fair.

The NA/JP version (especially the latter due to the subtitle) wins to me for being much more meaningful to the narrative.

The problem is that a lot of the time when it comes to discussions about Pokémon games, people choose to express their dislike for the games in kind of an insufferable way, either by being overly emotional about it, stating personal opinions as if they were objective facts, acting smug about how better they are for never playing/having dropped the series, and just generally encouraging people to have no hope for the future.

Of course, that's not to say people can't be just as annoying when defending the games or attacking critics/haters (especially when they do it preemptively).

I'm getting the game either way at a later date, but I'm willing to wait for a potential confirmation that the next console will indeed boost the performance of Switch games.

This is a game I'm definitely getting, but I'd rather wait until we know more about the next console to confirm if it's backwards-compatible AND if/how OG Switch games do get boosted. Worst-case scenario, 30fps wouldn't be a dealbreaker in the slightest.

I'm glad this game didn't fall through the cracks for the reviewing selection, even with the issues that affected its score. I'll likely get it later.

It would have been so funny in the video if, instead of only Marios, the character select screen near the end only had Foxes.
And at least he specified that he was talking about the DLC roster, since it would feel weird otherwise considering how some of the echo fighters (like Daisy and Dark Samus) play exactly like their counterparts for no good reason.

I was almost certain this had been already released in the west and was quietly ignored - glad to be wrong on that front. Hopefully this gets the attention of the right people online.

I think ports of these games with adjusted colors would be more than welcome.

It would be great on paper, though I have my doubts on how well the game would run on the Switch, which is especially important considering how crucial following the beat can be for the gameplay.

I feel it's much more likely that they will release it for the Switch 2 (or whatever it will be called).

It's really exciting that he's mentioned the RE Engine.
I've mentioned it before, but I kind of hope we get the Investigations duology and Vs. Layton (the latter now less improbable due to Level-5 resuming operations on the west) before AA7. Both so the whole story is available in modern consoles before moving it forward, and to make sure the new game looks as great as possible on the Switch 2 or whatever it will be called.

@Paraka The visual side of things is definitely less intensive than in their AAA titles, but the writing side of things probably takes a lot of time...
