Re: Feature: 7 Reasons For Picking Starter Pokémon, But How Do You Pick Yours?

BrazillianCara

I first picked Charmander because I liked Charizard more than the other two. Then Totodile for the exact same reason. Before Gen 3 was even a thing, I suspected the same would happen with the grass starter, and it did. Then came Gen 4 and I liked all starters, so I picked Chimchar since I spent the longest without picking a fire starter. And from this point on, I kept with the fire > water > grass sequence, only slightly regretting my decision on rare occasions. Looking forward to starting with Sprigatito in Gen 9.

@Serge_G You sound genuine, so it may be worth asking... how important is the visual presentation to you? Does it actually matter to the point where it's more important than the rest of the package? If it's not on par with what you believe it should be, do you feel cheated, or don't feel like you want to reward what you consider to be bad practices? I really just want to understand the perspective.

Re: Poll: As Sora Joins Smash Bros. Ultimate, How Much Of The DLC Roster Do You Own?

BrazillianCara

I got both passes just for the principle of having the complete roster, and overall I did not regret it. I'm not a competitive player, but the new spirit events have kept me coming back, and now that everyone is here, I might do a replay of World of Light.
As for Mii costumes, I only bought the three that came with music tracks, but I might pick one or two others of characters that I like.

Re: Feature: Where Does Competitive Pokémon Go From Here?

BrazillianCara

With the things introduced in Gen 8 (nature mints and the hidden ability capsule), all that's really left is a way to get the exact IVs necessary for minmaxing - more than just being able to maximize stats, that is. For example, 0 IVs in Attack can be useful to minimize damage from confusion, while 0 in Speed is valuable for Trick Room teams. And then you get pokémon like stakataka, where careful management of IVs can mean getting useful Attack boosts rather than redundant Defense boosts thanks to its ability.

Re: Soapbox: Why Apollo Justice Might Be The Best Ace Attorney Game

BrazillianCara

One thing that's usually forgotten nowadays is that Apollo wasn't very warmly received by the fanbase at the time, due to replacing Phoenix and not really standing out on his own. More people started liking him with Dual Destinies, which had some developments that helped flesh him out as a character, and the turnaround was firmly established with how important his part was in Spirit of Justice - in which he was essentially the main character, despite the initial focus on Phoenix.
Come to think of it, similar things happened to young, hip "replacements" of other Capcom protagonists (Nero and Axl).
