@Joeynator3000 I assume they only got a Switch 2 dev kit recently, which is why Crawlers will have an upgraded version from the start. Which would mean there could be a S2 version of VS in its next update.

I need some clarification here. The order of steps is to:
Open the game docked => undock it while the game is still open => put it back on the dock while the game is still open?
Or does it make a difference whether or not you go to the Switch 2 home screen and/or put it on sleep mode midway through the process?

I can see a future where they fix most if not all of the issues, but are only really able to salvage the game's public perception by rebranding it (calling it "Pokémon Champions Ex" or something).

I personally would like to know how the reception in Japan is going.

Can someone confirm if updating the game to version 1.0.2 counts as it being the Switch 2 update?
I'm not one to complain about visuals, but the game's performance outside of battles (specifically during the tutorial cutscenes) feels a bit lacking, especially compared to the Switch 2 version of Legends Z-A.

@ShadLink Just to be clear, I'm not holding it against them if the game doesn't include any single player experience, but it is a fact that I won't play it nearly as much as I would otherwise.

@ShadLink There are many multiplayer-focused games that offer at least some single-player content (including Splatoon), and they could do something similar to the Stadium games where you battle against sequences of pre-determined trainers in either "tournaments" or something similar to the Gym Leader Castle.
No need to be snide about it.

@SillyG For me, it's the apparent lack of any real single player component. This games seems to be made specifically for the competitive scene, and it will probably excel at that, but I don't see myself playing this a lot beyond the introduction if they don't add something more.

@Friendly I don't think it's a coincidence that four of the characters you mentioned are Team Star squad bosses, who all happen to be socially-challenged teenagers trying to put up some sort of appearance. Funnily enough, there's a post-game event where they all show up properly dressed for school (with Mela in particular being near unrecognizable).
As for Iono, that comes with the Japanese streamer territory.

Out of everything here, I only feel slightly tempted to get the Starter Pack for the extra box space, but I think I can still make do without it.

@breach187 You might want to check the full review to see that there's quite a bit more than "effectively nothing" for single player, but not really enough regarding the price tag. I know I'm going to wait for a discount (however long that takes) until I get it myself.

Even though it being available for the Switch 1 is absolutely for the best for multiple reasons, it's still a little bit of a shame that the game won't look as good as it could on the Switch 2 due to having to take the older hardware into account (much like how it happened with Legends Z-A). That said, at least we're getting this free update.

I'll just say that for as complicated as the situation may be, I don't agree with how defeatist the title for the article sounds.

I've got to try the demo on Steam first (if my PC can handle it) to learn if it clicks with me.

The only explanation for releasing XD before Colosseum is that they wanted to make a better first impression of the Gamecube Pokémon games for people who never played them (considering how it's a direct improvement over its predecessor in almost all aspects), and then some time from now go "oh, and this is the one that came before".

This feels kind of unnecessary. And I'm not reading the comments, but I fear this has the risk of confusing and angering people that are still waiting for a full physical release of the game with the DLC included.

Those are pretty good picks, and I don't say this just because they included the one I voted for and two that I heavily considered.

...Or maybe you could just make the effort to NOT use returning pokémon in the games with new ones, or the ones you pick every time in those that don't?

I would like to once again note that Legends Z-A being in last is a sign that letting people vote barely a week after the game is available is just asking for it to be review bombed when there's such a strong bias against the franchise. I'm hoping WiWa will be able to turn the series' perception around, if it doesn't happen earlier.

The only announcement I have any real plans of engaging with was WiWa, and I was pretty satisfied with what we got.

@LastFootnote Honestly, the fact a level 100 pokémon would be able to tank anything and down anything with a single move until the 8th badge would make the chance of disobedience nothing more than a minor annoyance.

I feel that this list is missing something by not including regional forms, a concept introduced in this gen.

@Pillowpants "Can you count? Don't count on it." regarding them putting as much effort in the games as in the marketing.

That said, I guess it was my mistake. I'm not in the right mind space for this kind of thing right now.

Hopefully it won't take too long after 01/30/2027 for them to implement a Gold Points/Voucher system that includes Switch 2 games.

@Lizuka I know it's way too late to comment, but speaking as someone who also got fed up with the Special Scans... unless it's just a matter of managing a limited storage space, deleting the game outright over this seems like a bit of an overreaction.

I still need to learn more about what's on offer for single player, but I'll probably get it - although it has less priority for me than the DK Bananza DLC and the Kirby and the Forgotten Land upgrade.

The fact this came out of nowhere gives me hope for other unannounced Switch to Switch 2 upgrades. (Especially Xenoblade and TTYD).

Other than the decades-long development period, it's funny how much of what you say in the first five paragraphs also applies to the more recent Pokémon games.

All this really shows is how the legitimacy of Metacritic's user scores can become a complete joke without the right oversight.

I'm noticing that a lot of the people dooming in the comments section for the recent stock prices article seem to be absent.

I can't help but feel kind of suspicious of the comments here either defending or being resigned to AI while speaking somewhat dismissively about the "masses".

I know this is an opinion piece, but it still felt a bit too abrasive regarding some topics. Like, that potshot at Xenoblade was completely unprompted, and feeling so sure that Nintendo will NEVER EVER improve their accessibility options is a tad nihilistic.

I wouldn't have minded if I had the option of which would come with the console when I bought it (especially if I could replace the orange one with the green one). But as a standalone purchase after I already got the whole thing? No, thanks.

Hades 2 is pretty tempting, but I want to hold on until I can get the physical version.

@Aerona Ok, we get it, you hate the Switch 2. How many times to you have to make that clear? What do you hope to accomplish by doing this, other than annoy people in a misguided attempt to find those who agree?

Both are good games, though I like the first one more.

I'm relatively interested in Prime 4, but I'm going to wait and see if they announce anything new that I can a use a voucher on that interests me even more before my last one expires.

I wonder if it's just a coincidence that this has been released alongside the announcement of a NieR Automata event in FFVII Ever Crisis.

It would be nice to test mine, but my router is pretty far from my TV. And I'm not interested enough to have another internet line installed in my home.

I think that it says something that even by being so technically-focused, DF's review is a lot more fair towards the game than NL's coverage.

I don't really get the feeling that these variants are going to show up in the mainline games. Maybe on Pokémon GO, as special pokémon that can't be transferred to HOME.

I feel that these public polls should come out at least a couple of weeks after the game has been out. It would prevent review bombings like the one that Legends Z-A got in this site.
