My first introduction ever to video games was either Super Mario World from a cousin's SNES or Sonic the Hedgehog from another cousin's Master System. The first one I actually owned was Donkey Kong Country.
Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I can't think of anyone who dislikes game spinoffs - certainly specific ones, but not the concept itself. It's such a standard part of the medium.
The glass is half empty for many in this comments section, it seems. On a different note, it's not surprising that The Great Ace Attorney isn't as high in Japan, considering it's basically a re-release (as opposed to the brand new release it is in the west), but third place is still pretty good.
I get the feeling that the number of 3D All-Stars copies still in circulation in retailers far outnumber that of certain current games that were never stated to be a limited release, such as Xenoblade 2.
Hopefully The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is successful enough to encourage them to keep going with the rest of the series - I personally would like to see the second trilogy, the two Investigation games and even the Layton crossover (as inconsequential as it may be in the overall narrative) available in modern consoles before they announce AA7.
(Copypasting from my comment in the forums...)
On the one hand, I get the feeling that the NES/SNES/Etc. Online apps may last MUCH longer than people may expect, becoming this thing that will be around for multiple generations with an ever-growing catalog.
On the other, if this is true, then said catalog will be mostly limited to Nintendo's first-party titles (which follow their own meticulously-planned and kind-of-frustrating-for-fans schedule) and whatever other obscure stuff they manage to get from smaller developers who agree to their terms and don't own prestigious enough titles/series to sell in compilations later. Hence, what got announced today.
@jowe_gw I can definitely say that I wasn't talking about your comments. That said, I guess it was unnecessary to "tag" you in my message. Sorry if this caused any confusion.
@jowe_gw I would like to thank BloodNinja for his comments in this thread. This is something I was undecided on doing for years during my experience with this site and its community, but his blunt honesty regarding his stance and what he has to share is what finally led me to create an account on NintendoLife. Just so I can finally ignore people who have nothing to add to the conversation aside from resentful, biased comments disguised as witty jokes, among others. I'm looking forward to the next Pokémon article.

Re: Dragon Ball FighterZ Just Got An "Absolutely Massive" Patch
Those are pretty big changes, but as far as the competitive scene is concerned, it's not much without an improved netcode.

@Bryon15 Most of the titles you mentioned probably have licensing issues Nintendo may not want to deal with...
