I hope people don't take these comments as an excuse to say that Pokémon is inherently inferior; it really doesn't feel like it's the developers' intent.
That comment about the translation makes me imagine that the Japanese script might be a lot more straightforward and less intentionally comedic compared to the English version. Kind of like how it happens with the Mario RPGs.
I'm not sure what's the point the people going "this makes me want to smoke/continue smoking" are trying to make. You find the ad so stupid that you'll do something hazardous to your health just to spite it? And if it's "just a joke", it's not really funny.
I'm sure the situation was nowhere as serious as I thought, but it's still good to see confirmation that Christina Vee wasn't actually blacklisted by Nintendo for breaching the NDA back when she was going to voice Edelgard in Three Houses.
And the cast is packing a lot more established talent than I expected.
Curious how a bunch of these games are definitely coming to the West, despite only showing up in the Japanese video. Hopefully this includes Rose and Camellia - it's by the creators of La-Mulana, and has the potential to go places worldwide (even if just as the meme game of the month).
Funny how aside from a brief mention in his second tweet, nobody has commented about how he played Ganondorf in There Will be Brawl all those years ago. Things have gone full circle, and I'm glad for him.
"Ruin friendships" is an understatement - this game makes Mario Party feel as non-volatile as Animal Crossing. I recommend the playthroughs by TheRunawayGuys and WoolieVS to get a feel of this madness.
Considering that they have released The Great Ace Attorney duology for the Switch with significant success, I'd say it's only a matter of time before the second trilogy of the mainline series is announced.
@Dr-M No idea, but I'm currently halfway through Bravely Default II and still want to play Trials of Mana, Metroid Dread, and Xenoblade. The last one in particular might take me a while, what with my job and other obligations.
It frustrates me to no end to see how many people are unable to gel with this style of storytelling and decide to label it as bad. It's like giving a bad review to an Italian restaurant because they don't serve sushi.
@CharlieGirl While I'm not happy with the increase and also think some people might be taking it too well, the way you replied isn't really the way to do it. It just sounds like a tantrum.
It would have been nice if they had brought those back before Scarlet/Violet's release... as of right now, TotK is only Switch game I care enough about to start playing as soon as possible (rather than waiting as long as necessary for a bigger discount, like Kirby and the Forgotten Land) yet not to the point where I would rather own a physical copy (like Octopath II), so assuming it gets added to the selection near release, I would still need to wait for them to announce another title that fits these specifications. So I guess I'll wait and see.
I can't think of any possible explanation for why they had dropped the vouchers other than American retailers being somehow to blame.
This is exciting if true, though I wonder what other Switch exclusive they list (aside from hopefully TotK) I may want to use them for. Maybe something to be announced soon.
I have little interest in playing Fire Emblem in general or any real feeling about these character designs, but most of the negative comments here are super annoying.
Trying to defeat the true final boss of Dandara (the one from the Trials of Fear expansion) got me to the point of feeling almost sick with anger, and forced me to essentially switch to easy mode to do it. And even then, I barely made it.
I generally prefer to get games digitally as it's almost always the only way I can actually get them, not to mention how it's cheaper for the same reasons. But when I have the opportunity (either due to going or knowing someone who's going overseas, or when the timing is just right on Play-Asia), I prefer to get physical copies for the games I consider special.
While I like the visuals, the way they're framed in a static 2D Plane (while more elaborate cutscenes are shown as still illustrations) is VERY reminiscent of the 8-bit games. And I also thought the music was one of the least strong aspects of 11, but going all the way back to chiptune would be a bit too far (at least for the whole soundtrack). Anyway, I just really hope X9 is in the works.
@Mauzuri @Leonhart Looking at nearly all of their posts related to Pokémon since Sword/Shield, you'll either have to get used to this attitude or put them on ignore. I know I've gotten kind of sick of it at this point.

@StarPoint It's a spiritual successor made by fans.

Mine was IV (specifically the DS remake).

Why do the lions keep making these faces in all promotional materials for this game?
Re: Review: Cannon Dancer - Osman - The Bold, Concise Strider Sequel You Always Wanted
I think you got the hero's name confused with that of the main villain in the third paragraph.
Re: Nintendo Wants Discord To Reveal Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Art Book Leaker
@Banjo- I'm all for not treating corporations as friends, but this seems like a fairly spiteful take.
Re: Nintendo Wants Discord To Reveal Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Art Book Leaker
@Vil This feels like you're venting about something only barely related.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Super Mario Bros. 2
The Japanese box would be an easy pick if it wasn't for the bright pink background. It clashes too much with the artwork.
Re: Random: YouTuber Spends Nearly $23K Buying Every 3DS & Wii U eShop Game

@Aurumonado True, I think some plot points make a bit more sense in Scarlet.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Octopath Traveler II?
Man, I wish I could be playing this now, but I'm set on waiting until I've finished my backlog AND I get an opportunity to buy a physical version.
Re: Nintendo's Official MAR10 Day Sale Is Starting Next Week

I can't not read that title as "Tripping Stars".

I imagine they couldn't find a cat like Morgana to promote this, and it's the only reason why they didn't.
Re: Latest Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Tera Raid Event Starts Today, Features New Paradox Pokémon
@Bolt_Strike Strange, the Walking Wake that I caught was Serious, while the Iron Leaves was Docile.
Re: Poll: Octopath Traveler II Is Out Now, Which Character Will You Start With?
I have no idea when I'll get it, but I might start a tradition of beginning with the merchant.

@NinjaWaddleDee They have. Don't throw the artists and actual developers under the same bus as upper management.

@Dr_Corndog Doesn't make your original reply any less condescending.

@Dr_Corndog A approach to storytelling being different from what you expected/wanted doesn't make it "woeful".
Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo Console Has The Best First-Party Games Lineup?
If we include ports from previous consoles, almost certainly the Switch. But if only those originating from the console count, I can't decide.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel: Panic Bomber (Virtual Boy)
Japan's kind of feels like a Bomberman parody of Castlevania inspired by Megaman covers.

@Kermit1Pineapple That's a pretty interesting perspective, actually. One I'm not sure I agree with completely, but it's still a good point.
