Damn, I really like the VN's that these two creators make, HUGE fan of the Zero Escape and Danganronpa games, and I absolutely hate tactical RPG's. I didn't even go for Persona 5 Tactica and I am also a huge Persona fan. I also really enjoyed Rain Code so I really hope this does well. I have it on my steam Wishlist, so I will give it a shot as I would rather take the same risk and show my support for this team than see them disappear.
My friends and I are big fans of the 'survival' modes in both TMNT: Shredders Revenge and SoR4 so I have no doubt that a full game with those sensibilities by the same dev team is a no brainer for us. Looking forward to seeing more in the future, and I will have to add this to my wishlist right away.
Before I even read the article I wanted to throw Cruise Ship in there. If not for the full game (and we can get a lot of variation from one ship easily) than at least for a section of a full game. Especially if part of the ship was inspired by an Olympic class liner (like Titanic).
I am loving the cathode ray tube style graphics in this one, I've been a casual brick breaker fan since the days of AlleyWay (still kind of hoping for a revisioning of that old gem personally) so this will be on my radar. I cant imagine that playing this in TATE mode would be too difficult, but as @Teksette said, can we please get some spinner dial peripherals for these kinds of games?
I've been hotly anticipating this port, I needed some good news after dealing with an odd issue from my main PC. thankfully these run like hot butter on my potato of a laptop.
I could only get about half-way through the video before I noticed my eyes were stinging from what I was looking at. Then I realized it was because I was crying. If it looked this good (aside from dodgy clearly unfinished beta models) on Wii, it would have been a masterpiece on 360 and PS3 had it come to fruition. The culmination of never being able to experience such a brilliant looking game as well as the reminder that the studio behind this game was also dead just.. it just sucks...
Thank goodness all of the Neptunia games are on Steam, cheaper than they would ever be on the Switch, and run fine on my laptop. Disappointed for sure, but I'm not surprised. Between this and deciding that the west doesn't want EDF games (aside from that terrible World Brothers game) I'm thinking it's about time to hang up my switch and wait to see if it's successor can wow me.
Honestly I was hoping these games would get a discount when Emio was coming out. I've had them on my wishlist for a couple years, just waiting for a decent price (I love VN's but these still feel too pricey for my blood.) If they put all three games in a physical package and charged something like $70 I'd bite. Found Emio floating around at a Target for about $40 and I was tempted to pick it up, but I'm not someone who feels comfortable buying JUST the third game of a series, physical or not.
I see you cheeky ducks putting the PushSquare and PureXbox teams up there, though sending holy hand grenades toward the queen seems a bit sus. Great review, might wait for a sale though as I already own this game on several systems.
This was one of the few Vita games I had and spent a good amount of time with, but I'd have to see a full review before I get too excited. I'm still peeved about Neptunia RE:Birth 1-3 being shelved at the last second on Switch.
I am glad to see N64 winning this poll. To this day I still feel a sense of wonder when I have an N64 cart in my hands. There was always something so 'quality' about the N64 carts when they were new and I guess I will carry that sense of wonder with me for the rest of my life.
With any luck maybe we can see a few of these show up at Round1 since they import Japanese claw machines in my city. Not so much gatcha's but I can dream.
I love Zero Escape, I love Danganronpa, but I am no fan of tactics RPG's. However, as Uchikoshi is attached to this game, I will support the heck out of it even if I may never even remove the shrink wrap from the box. Maybe if it has a 'n00b' mode so I can still enjoy the story. I really hope it sells well enough to save the studio.
BG&E is one of my top 5 games of all time, and nothing frustrates me more than how Ubisoft treats it. I highly doubt we will be seeing anything on the remaster in the Direct. If we were going to see anything BG&E related, it would have been at Ubisoft Forward less than a week ago.
@LikelySatan It is worth looking up, but the short of it is that Jon was publicly shamed awhile back when Yooka Laylee was being released after he engaged in a livestream debate with a Twitch streamer and YouTuber known as Destiny, in which Jontron stated arguably "racist statements". As a result his cameo was replaced.
I learned about RGC on DS several years after it was released and I loved it. Luckily the sequel had a fan translation so I was able to play that too and I would love to see an official release over here for Switch. I mean, if the original game had any marketing it wouldn't have taken me so long to know about it.
...So when do they actually fix the controls then? The "sticky reticule" from the original games doesn't work at all and "auto aim" is just embarrassingly sticky. With the crappy joycon sticks I need slight help, but not so much auto aim that I have to hold the right stick for three whole seconds before I can look away from an enemy.
Interesting to see Hebereke on here, especially the even more obscure multiplayer party game. I wonder if this means Switch Online will allow for four players, and if so, if we will get some Super Bomberman games in the future on the service.
TOTK wasn't even a Zelda game, it was just Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts with a BOTW skin. I'm not even a fan of the open world change of BOTW but even then I consider it more of a 'Zelda' game than TOTK.
It's unfortunate that Citra was taken down as well. I know I'm the minority here, but I actually tend to buy games that I emulate first if I like them. I even bought some rom hacks for original consoles after finding them available as roms such as the English translations for Super Back to the Future II on SNES and Bare Knuckle 3 for Genesis. As for Citra, I tried out Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion after the last direct as I never played the original Wii game before (and intend to get the remaster) before I decided I wanted my own copy, and it is in the mail as we speak.
Nintendo made no money off my decisions to purchase these games. They all came from private sellers. I get closing the Switch emulator because it is still an active system, but for me there is a place for emulation of defunct game consoles because sometimes these games go for far more than they are worth, and Nintendo will never see a dime of it. These games also have dedicated communities that bugfix, remix, translate and vastly improve games that Nintendo will never localize or reissue with new features.
Now, if Nintendo decided to open an online catalog that allowed us to buy legacy games directly from them and support repairs, sales and replacements of their older systems, I'd be on board with booing the emulation scene. But that is never going to happen. I already have a hobby refurbishing old game consoles, but lets be honest, every year less and less of these older consoles are still around and salvageable, and emulation just makes sense for a vast majority of forgotten gems.
I bought the original on Xbox and PS2 back in the day, regret not finding it on GameCube as the price for that version has skyrocketed in recent years. I bought it again when it originally released in HD on PS3, then again when I bought my Xbox Series X a couple years back as I had retired my PS3 by then, and wanted to play it. I bought it on GOG for PC, and you best bet I'll buy it again, especially if it comes to Switch with all of the 20th Anniversary goodies. I love this game to death, and I will do everything I can to let Ubi know just how much I want to see the story continue.
The only Jurassic Park game I ever enjoyed (outside of the arcade light gun shooters) is Jurassic Park 2 The Chaos Continues on Game Boy. As I already own that game for my original Game Boy, I see no need to spend money on this.
Battling hordes of enemies and epic bosses? I wonder if this could scratch that Killing Floor 2 itch I have. I'm curious to see exactly how this game is going to work, but from what I see it brings to mind something like Gauntlet or Borderlands with the different classes, kind of a beat-em-up adventure vibe. Color me intrigued, but I will still be apprehensive until I can get a better handle of how the game will be organized.
If this drops on steam with a rom attached like Micro Mages, I'll pick it up just for the soundtrack. If the rest of the game is half as fire as the track in the trailer, I also want a vinyl release!
I agree with the sentiments that it should all be on a larger card, but I also have to admit I'm surprised they were able to compress this game into 15GB. I'd have plenty of space for it on my switch if I were planning to get it, but I already played and finished it on Series X where it was gigantic, like over 80GB. This ain't a small game.
I wonder if they will eventually add a horde mode like they added to Quake 1 remaster. I've been fiending for a Killing Floor 2 style game on my Switch, and while Quake 1's was close, it was still too basic.
I loved these games on DS, such a cool concept for a game mixing life simulation as a kid in the late 80's/early 90's, reading game magazines and manuals, it's just a dream for someone like me that lived it. I have a fan translation of the 2nd game, but my 3DS has been retired so I really hope we get at least a digital version in the west, if not that an English option for a physical copy.
I love this game so much, I had it originally on PS2, re-bought it on Xbox and then got both HD editions when I had a PS3 and then a Series X. Always wanted a copy for GameCube, but finding one for a decent price has kept me content with what I do have. I hope this 20th anniversary edition adds something to the overall package, but even if not, I might just buy it again to support it. I just wish Ancel hadn't tried to make some insanely confusing prequel/sequel and just followed up on his original story for this one. It does end of a bit of a cliffhanger. Also hope that more people will play this game and give it some much needed fans.
I can't believe a few of you are responding to 7 year old comments. THat being said, Excitebike on NES was my first game ever and I got 64 some years back and absolutely love it. All I need is Snowboard Kids 1 or 2 (probably 2 since 1 used an entire memory pak and NSO doesn't seem to support it for some reason) and I'm set.
