Re: Nintendo Is Releasing A Super Mario Party Bundle In Japan

AshFoxX

I would buy the bundle if it came out in the US and came out the same day as the regular release, discounted joycon would be nice since the neon red ones I got last year are now having joystick issues. Interestingly the original gray ones that came with my switch aren't giving me any issues aside from the connectivity issues the left joycon had before I sent it back to get repaired for free. One of the unfortunate things of owning a switch is these flaky joycon.. Even if it was coming here in December I don't think I'd want to wait.

Re: Sega Releasing Original Valkyria Chronicles Game On Switch This October

AshFoxX

Never finished VC on PS3 but I absolutely adored the game. Was very tempted to buy it on PS4 awhile back, but a Switch port is an absolute must have. Shame it's not physical, but I suppose I'd rather have $20 digital than $30-$40 physical for the original. Definitely getting VC4 (at some point) physical, so I guess saving $5 is not in my future.

Re: Niantic Hopes To Have Player vs Player Battles In Pokémon GO By The End Of The Year

AshFoxX

@RadioHedgeFund I like your steed idea, and would like to add a Pokemon you can assign to 'fly' on which could also allow you to ride in a car or train and still get stuff like 'adjusted' progress on partner candy and hatching eggs. Like travelling 5km at vehicle speeds amounts to 1km walking distance when the app is open instead of shutting it off any time you go over 10km/h or so.

Re: Pixel-Art Escape Thriller STAY Will Be Breaking Out On Switch This Summer

AshFoxX

This seems pretty interesting and brings to mind the Zero Escape games and the Wonder Project J games from SFC and N64. I'm not so sure how I feel about the 'real time' feature though, I dislike timers in the best of times, being the main reason I refuse to play Majora's Mask, but also knowing that while I'm at work or playing Mario Kart Quinn is sitting there waiting for me to come back and help him could drive me insane.

I like passive games like this where you give input and watch what happens, sort of reminiscent of Sims. Color me intrigued.

Re: Rumour: Dragon Quest XI On Nintendo Switch Could Feature Extra Content

AshFoxX

On the one hand, I really need the portability of Switch if I'm ever planning to actually finish this game.

On the other hand, if I wait then I feel like I'm letting down my favorite JRPG by not showing support in the first year of release and I don't want to live in a world where Squenix thinks the west doesn't want DQ games anymore... Again..

Re: New Details Emerge For GRIP, The Futuristic Racer Coming To Switch This Fall

AshFoxX

Tepidly looking forward to trying this one out, it looks amazing but if it controls half as bad as Rollcage did, constantly getting stuck/thrown backwards and pin-balling off of every surface imaginable, I'll have to give it a hard pass. If I find out it has a 'self centering' button to keep you on the track every 5 seconds... If your game needs a button reserved for straightening out your car, you failed as a racing game designer.

Re: The Virtual Console Isn't Coming To Switch, Nintendo Confirms

AshFoxX

I was really looking forward to playing old Mario Kart, SSB and Mario Party games when I take my Switch to meetups. It would be SOOO convenient to have 4 player retro cups right there on the floor. Certainly not mad, but I am disappointed. Yeah, eventually we will get Mario Party 11, SSB is on the horizon and MK8D is great, but it would have been awesome to have Mario Party 2, Mario Kart 64 and SSBMelee in my bag at all times.

It really is a missed opportunity to me. Even if the argument is "You can get a mini console for that", there are several problems with this. It's not an all-in-one portable solution - you still need a television, the only way to get the games you really want is to mod it, There is no N64/GB/GBC/GBA/GC mini console, and the darn things are STILL impossible to find in the store. I'd rather buy them legally than mod them up, but Nintendo gives me no real choice. VC makes so much sense on Switch. It made good sense on Wii 10 years ago too, but it seemed kinda pointless on Wii U, so it's just baffling that they don't want my money.

Re: New And Improved Left Joy-Con May Be In The Works

AshFoxX

Huh, I thought they had nipped this problem. I had a launch console and started noticing the dreaded JoyCon L issues after putting it through the paces in Mario Kart Deluxe. I sent it in and got it fixed, and the second set of neon red JoyCons I picked up last May never gave me any issues at all.

Re: Streets Of Red Is The Latest Indie Game To Find Huge Success On The Switch

AshFoxX

He has a right to be proud of this game. I am a huge fan of beat-em-ups but for some reason I hadn't gotten any for my switch, aside from Phantom Breaker Battle Grounds which was vastly disappointing to me. Raging Justice was on my radar, but that still has some time before I can play it. I even skipped the Neo Geo games because i'm not a huge fan of the style, except for Metal Slug of course but I already have the anthology on Wii.

Streets of Red was an easy sell especially for the price. I haven't had much time to play it, but the short time I did spend with it oozed with polish and deliberate satisfaction with every combo and plenty of things to make it stand out from the greats in the genre.

Re: Looks Like Playtonic Is Ready To Reveal Its Next Game

AshFoxX

Laylee's Bad Fang Day... Seriously though, Yooka Laylee was okay, but I felt like the physics were wrong. It never felt polished to me, but I suppose that was to be expected for a first game... From industry veterans.. Who fairly enough were on a tight budget. I have high hopes for the company moving forward, maybe with a bit more tweaking they can spit and polish their games a bit more going forward, and with good old Phil Spencer having a fairly loose grip on Microsoft's IP, Playtonic can literally be Rareware again and bring Banjo Kazooie and Conker back to form.

Or hey, Nintendo, let them make that successor to Diddy Kong Racing. Doesn't seem like Sonic will be making another interesting multi-vehicle racing game any time soon.

Re: Detective Pikachu Is Off The Case As It Debuts At Number 23 In The UK Charts

AshFoxX

I'm absolutely smitten by Detective Pikachu, but even I admit I really wish it was a Switch game. It suffers from some slowdown and the graphics, while very impressive for 3DS, are jaggy as ever. I actually would not be surprised if within a year they port it over to Switch with added cases, clean graphics and a performance bump.

Even the touchscreen controls for the case files aren't that responsive and I find it a bit easier to just use the buttons, which also isn't perfect but it beats kicking out the stylus from the bottom of my N3DS every time. I can attest though that my other game I wanted this month, A Way Out, is doing very well, being unable to find a PS4 copy around my local stores.

Re: Futuristic Combat Racer GRIP Will Be Burning Rubber On Switch Later This Year

AshFoxX

Hope it has local multiplayer. I'm getting tired of seeing racing games (mostly on PS4 and Xbox One to be fair) that are online only if you want to race your friends. That will be THE selling point for me right now, because as much as I love Mario Kart, I need something different now that I can play with my friends. I recall back in the day Rollcage had a pretty fun demo, maybe I'll snuff out a copy and check it out before this drops, it's been about 20 years.

Re: Nintendo Has No Plans For A Switch 2.0, Sources Claim

AshFoxX

The Switch itself is fine, could use a slight internal redesign to help with that little 'warping' problem some people seem to have, but my biggest issue is with the Joycon. Revise the tiny thumbsticks a little bit and change out that little plastic clip that clicks into the console with a metal one, and I'm golden.
