I mean, I'm glad that beat-em-ups have had a small resurgence, it's one of my favorite genres for sure, especially excited for SoR4 but I will never understand why so many of these things neglect the single feature that makes them so good. MULTIPLAYER..
YESSS!!! Suddenly I'm not so upset about missing out on Castlevania Requiem Collection. While it's sad that SotN and RoB likely won't show up on this collection, Rondo still being my all-time favorite in the series, I'm pretty sure Bloodlines will be included so that is fair. Since they skipped Simon's Quest, hopefully one of the 8 games is not Castlevania 64. Maybe they will replace Rondo of Blood with Vampire X from SNES and at least one of the metroidvania games from the GBA/DS line will have to be represented.
I'm not sure what else they COULD do with Contra, all of the 'good' ones are revealed save for Contra 4 which was a DS game. Porting the PS1 games would feel like a waste, but what else are they going to put up?
I'm very happy that tease turned out to be true. The original on my 360 was one of few reasons I kept it plugged it at all. Adding all the DLC, better visuals/performance and a new minigame makes this worth it for sure. Now if only we could get Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.. I can surely dream.
Good to see more of these coming to the west, though I wish we got more like Danganronpa and Zero Escape with full english voice acting and more 'game' between the novel parts. I'm down for 2 hours of straight dialogue if the story is interesting, but I've been burned out by the likes of Root Letter, Steins Gate and to a lesser extent Utawarerumono which did have decent bits of gameplay between the 3 hours of Japanese voice acting.
I know it's expensive and time consuming, but if we got Zero Escape and Danganronpa, it can certainly be done.
Weird how the comment section is comparing this to Borderlands (which, yes please, I will buy BL2 for a seventh time if it comes to switch) but i'm getting more Left 4 Dead vibes with the co-op and random generation.
It's too bad, really. Dungeon Defenders was a lot of fun back in the day, I would have jumped at a switch port of either DD1 or 2, especially if it brought back the local multiplayer options. This looks and sounds like a poor copy.
I remember playing the demo for the first one and I wasn't impressed. However, if this one truly has local multiplayer I am at the very least interested until I find out more about it. I know the PS4 version does not have this feature so I am skeptical as to what they mean by 'Local Multiplayer' as well, @redd214
Once Nintendo embraces the reality of realistic hard drive space for a digital future I will consider not being angry about an empty box with a download code.
I'm surprised anyone noticed this in the Starlink credits. I was able to leave the house, go to a bar, meet a girl, get married, ruin my life, get divorced, and came back home after all that and the credits were STILL going.
I'd love to make an joke about those being rookie numbers but I used to know a grandmother who loved her Nintendo DS because it basically cured her arthritis due to heavy use of the stylus. She was a huge fan of Zelda and put more hours into that little handheld than I could feasibly imagine. Sadly she passed away last year so stories like this where these games are enjoyed by the greatest generation make my heart soar.
I really hope this rumor is true. Super Lucky's Tale is honestly one of the admittedly few exclusives on Xbox that I want. A switch port would be a godsend.
Yeah, I'll buy literally anything if it has a fox in it. That's how I wound up with Never Alone and RiME. Fox N Forests is on the list of 'will get to when I have money' games. Oh, and I even preordered Starlink immediately after the Star Fox reveal so I have a serious problem.
@ilikeike I read your post along with everyone else's about 3 times just to make sure I got as much info as possible before posting myself how aggravated I am. The vague 2019 window for Japan and nothing at all for a western release is not enough to satisfy me after two long years. Definitive version or not, doesn't do me any good unless I know it's even assumed to be released in the west at all.
I will support the heck out of it if it gets announced but I feel like we should know much more about it by now.
Wait, so I missed the live stream but I was excited because DQXIS had a 'stage' for the event and all they have to say is 'oh its coming sometime next year in Japan and now it has Japanese voice acting. kbye'... It's really hard to not be a little peeved at this point. I'll keep my chin up for the January 'surprise' but I'm getting pretty aggravated at the lack of information over the past two years.
The old nostalgic fart that I am, I always choose physical, even waiting months on end if a physical version is rumored to release later than digital. I like knowing that 20 years down the road I can still play my games the way I do on my NES today. I imagine a world where if the NES had digital games in 1985 and how those experiences would be lost now.
I like to own my games, not rent a license for the same price, if not more. Even knowing about games I have lost digitally over the years like Scott Pilgrim VS the World on PS3 grinds my gears because I paid full price for that game and if I ever have to replace my hard drive I can't play it anymore.
I got a little screwed up and voted what I thought were my best multiplayer games in the overall game of the year bracket but tbh my answers would be very similar. Top answer was anyway.
@sikthvash Yeah, I noticed the janky frame rate myself and couldn't tell if it was just from YouTube or because this footage was from an early build. That being said, if this can run at a smooth framerate I see no reason not to pick this up, it looks like a really fun time.

I will likely just buy this on PS4 instead. I really don't understand why it has to be 10$ more for the Switch version which has much more limited hard drive space than my 2TB PS4. I honestly don't usually buy games over $25 digitally but I'll make the $5 concession for this, especially since it has BEEN OUT on PS4 for several months already.
Sorry Nintendo, but the tax really broke the deal for me this time. Maybe some of us (you know who you are) will find the handheld aspect worth the extra dosh, but not me.
This game actually looks pretty fun. I don't see the issue with the graphics but i'm an old fart with a 64-bit heart and simple games like this are great fun for me and my buddy. For $8 i'll definitely give it a try. Heck, 100-foot robot golf on PS4 is a constant go-to game for us and this hits a lot of the same chords.
I was wondering whatever happened to this. Glad it's still 'on track' but I'd seriously love to know more about what it actually is sooner rather than later.
I will be trading in my PS4 version toward this just because I need Streets of Rage on the go. Also low-key hoping they iron out some of the bad emulation from the PS4 version like the stuttering music and slowdown.
I will never understand how the PS3 Sega Collection ran leagues better than this one on PS4. AND it had Sonic 3 & Knuckles. But no Toejam and Earl so it balances out I suppose.
Wow, how did I miss this 10 years ago? We don't have enough horror RPG's. I'm really glad this game is going to come out now, hopefully we see it here in the west sooner rather than later.
I'm currently addicted to Starlink on Switch, it is definitely worth the digital download version if you don't like/want the toys. you get plenty for the price of a regular game that way and the co-op is perfection. I'm actually surprised 4 out of 5 games sold were on switch, I thought it'd be more like 9 out of every 10 copies sold were on Switch.
I mean, technically this is Star Fox 2 HD. What else could you ask for?
Color me pleasantly surprised by how many of you enjoy this game, and how well it is doing. The only Nintendo app game I spend any real amount of time with is Animal Crossing, especially since they just started the Eevee scavenger hunt event this morning. I gave Dragalia a good chance, and deleted it about a week ago mostly because it takes up almost 2gb and constantly adding to that with every new level was maddening.
The touchscreen action gameplay is for younger men than me, I'd have preferred a traditional turn based rpg if it was going to be on a phone, but hey most things these days are not made for me. As long as Pocket Camp doesn't wind up as the next Miitomo, I will be happy.
I will say I was impressed with how the game handles but it didn't grip me. Its a nice looking game, runs at a smooth frame rate and I could see myself having some fun if I had some friends to fight alongside, but it's an action mobile game and I find games like AC:PC fitting my needs much more. It's also a huge download. I don't have a single thing on my phone that takes up as much space as this monster.
Good on them for making a competent action game on mobile though. I know lots of folks are very happy with it, and when Nintendo does well, we all win.
Mysterious lack of footage of multiplayer is troubling. Backgrounds and 'action' gameplay look promising, but the characters themselves just look like that bad batman forever game. SoR4 will be fine. This presents no threat at this time.
Hope its 15$ or less. That's all I have to say about this. If Konami really wants to make me excited get on the Capcom train and make the Konami Beat Em' Up Bundle.. What? All of the good ones except for Sunset Riders which technically isn't a beat em' up are licensed games like Simpsons, X-Men and Ninja Turtles? I have fury!
@TheFox I don't know what gave you the impression that Switch is getting an "Americanized Version". This is the definitive Spintires game that has the regular Mudrunner game from PC, XB1 and PS4 PLUS all of the DLC which includes American locales and trucks to the base game. PS4 and XB1 are getting this same version. It is literally nothing less than the original game.
I'm not sure if this would be that great, I understand the games started on GBA but the dual screen on DS and 3DS really elevated the experience. Taking that away, it almost feels like the 3DS version is still the superior version.
I have only played the DS versions though. I don't know what was added to the 3DS version or how that version compares to this one, so if anyone could enlighten me I might change my mind.
@Bizzyb You are thinking of TT Games, formerly Travellers Tales. Different company altogether.
This is sad news to me indeed. I love(d) the telltale games back in the day, and some of the newer ones I bought and enjoyed, though it never touched the masterpieces of Monkey Island, Sam and Max or Back to the Future (of which I am biased because I love the film series more than life itself.) I used to buy every game they made back when it was like 1 new game every 1 or 2 years, but yeah they started releasing several in one year and it over-saturated the plots. I was even on the early adopters on the Telltale account website when I still played them on PC.
Sadly, it looks like Dontnod, the studio behind Life is Strange, is going to be my new favorite. I love that series, and after Quantic Dreams turned me away with Beyond: Two Souls they are really the only game in town that is worth my time for these kinds of games. I guess to be completely honest, after the poor excuse of a game that was TWD: A New Frontier, I won't be shedding too many tears for their struggle. But maybe if they can rekindle what made them so great in the beginning, they can win us back.
Well, at least it's a bargain game. I'd be a little disappointed if it cost as much as Puyo Puyo + Tetris without the Tetris with a couple added modes.

Wow, how did I miss this 10 years ago? We don't have enough horror RPG's. I'm really glad this game is going to come out now, hopefully we see it here in the west sooner rather than later.
Re: 82% Of Starlink: Battle For Atlas Sales Were On Switch In UK, Only Managed 14th In Charts Debut
Re: Dragon Quest X Could Make It To The West As An Offline Version
Hmm, The S part of Dragon Quest XI S stands for 'Solo version of Dragon Quest X'? Sign me up!
Re: Starlink: Battle For Atlas Physical Release Will Require A 6GB Day One Update
Only commenting for the obligatory star fox avatar I've seen 'peppered' in the comments section.
Re: Dragalia Lost Makes $16 Million In First Two Weeks, Outperforms Animal Crossing
Re: Nintendo, Creatures Inc And Game Freak Register "Monpoké" Trademark
Pokemon is Pocket Monsters.
Monpoke is Monster Pockets.
Maybe they are licensing some 90's jeans?
Re: Liquid Media Acquires Acclaim Entertainment Video Game Properties
If only they could have had the license for Burnout. EA obviously wants nothing more to do with it. I'll take a remaster of Burnout 2 any day.
Re: Dragalia Lost Revenue Surpasses $3 Million In Five Days
I will say I was impressed with how the game handles but it didn't grip me. Its a nice looking game, runs at a smooth frame rate and I could see myself having some fun if I had some friends to fight alongside, but it's an action mobile game and I find games like AC:PC fitting my needs much more. It's also a huge download. I don't have a single thing on my phone that takes up as much space as this monster.
Good on them for making a competent action game on mobile though. I know lots of folks are very happy with it, and when Nintendo does well, we all win.
Re: Nintendo Switch Is About To Get Its First VR-Style Headset, But There's A Catch
A VR peripheral for a non-VR game console... I don't get it. What even is this? What is the point of it? This has scam written all over it.
Re: Kick Into Gear With This New Trailer For Side-Scrolling Beat 'Em Up The TakeOver
Mysterious lack of footage of multiplayer is troubling. Backgrounds and 'action' gameplay look promising, but the characters themselves just look like that bad batman forever game. SoR4 will be fine. This presents no threat at this time.
Re: Bandai Namco And HTC Are Bringing Mario Kart VR To The United States
Cool, will look nice is the 3 arcades we still have over here. Say, whatever happened to Mario Kart Tour?
Re: It Sucks To Say It, But Castlevania Requiem Isn't Coming To Switch
Hope its 15$ or less. That's all I have to say about this. If Konami really wants to make me excited get on the Capcom train and make the Konami Beat Em' Up Bundle.. What? All of the good ones except for Sunset Riders which technically isn't a beat em' up are licensed games like Simpsons, X-Men and Ninja Turtles? I have fury!
Re: Spintires: MudRunner - American Wilds Hits Switch 27th November With All DLC Included
Re: Capcom Announces Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy For Nintendo Switch
I'm not sure if this would be that great, I understand the games started on GBA but the dual screen on DS and 3DS really elevated the experience. Taking that away, it almost feels like the 3DS version is still the superior version.
I have only played the DS versions though. I don't know what was added to the 3DS version or how that version compares to this one, so if anyone could enlighten me I might change my mind.
Re: Telltale Games Begins Majority Studio Closure With Mass Layoffs
Re: Sega Officially Confirms Puyo Puyo eSports For Nintendo Switch
Well, at least it's a bargain game. I'd be a little disappointed if it cost as much as Puyo Puyo + Tetris without the Tetris with a couple added modes.
