I still haven't picked this up, hoping the price drops a bit soon because as much as I like the X-Com style of combat, $60 is still too rich for something that doesn't appear to have that much depth from what I have seen from Let's Plays. Of course I said the same thing about Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon and I picked that up a couple weeks ago for $15 and it's amazingly good. I would have happily traded $40 for that one back at launch.
I had a bit of a hard time reading this review, grammar errors and sentence structure was a bit jumbled and I'm not used to that from this site. I've read and quite enjoyed your articles before @Shiryu so I'm not sure what went wrong with the proofreading this time.
I have the Wii U versions and was actually thinking of picking this up as I love my switch and barely touch my Wii U anymore. Never finished the first game and I would have picked this up if Bayonetta was physical. I don't understand having one physical and the other digital. Probably gonna just hold on to my physical Wii U disks and get 3 when it comes out. For the record I would have gladly paid like $10 more if both games had their own cartridges. Just saying.
Most of the current baseball games I have played (my buddy had The Show 15' I think) are too complicated for me, as I am a casual Dodgers fan. I've never played in the real world, but I like to watch and understand it enough to follow whats going on.
The most fun I had playing the games were the MLB Slugfest series on the GameCube, and even then whenever my buddy and I would play together it always ended the same way. We would be at a stalemate 0-0 in the first 2 or 3 innings, then one of us would get a good groove sometimes making as many as 7 or 8 runs before the end of the inning, and the other never recovers resulting in one of us being grumpy and annoyed and the other cautiously trying to slack off and let the other get a few points. The computers also always take both of us down without much resistance.
I'm in the minority, I know. I stink at most sports games as they rarely ever explain how everything works so I gravitate to more arcade styles which are hard to distinguish if I'll like them in a baseball title. Pity as I would really enjoy having as much intensity in a baseball game as I do for the racing games I am actually good at.
I would probably have no interest in this but I have bought everything featuring a fox in it so far (except Lucky's Tail but I don't have an Xbox One...Yet.)... Because Foxes are Life.
I love visual novels, though many of them have put me off after a few hours, especially the dating ones. (Zero Escape and Danganronpa are among my very top tier games ever, but Root Letter, Ever17 and Steins;Gate left me bored and never finished.)
This one though, I have a feeling I'm going to love it. Rhythm battle system? Apocalyptic romance? Tons of different ways to make me cry? Yes please.
I am still very confused about everything surrounding Detective Pikachu - the game was weird enough, but I still find it hard to believe that we are getting a movie with Deadpool voicing a Pikachu... I'm just tickled at how random but awesome this whole thing is becoming.
I hate how good this looks. I might have to check out part 1, but it will more likely be on my PS4 to keep them together. My Wii U has one foot in the closet at this point and as of now is only hooked up once in a blue moon and sharing an HDMI cable with my PS3.
My buddy at my local GameStop was very hyped for these when I was in there buying a copy of Skyrim for Switch, and after looking at the first wave I'm not really sold. I will be interested when they have some Twisted Metal totaku, and I'll also bite if they ever release Coco Bandicoot or Sly Cooper. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want a Gran Turismo DeLorean figure, but that's really stretching it.
It's a cool idea for hardcore PlayStation fans but I do find the Sony IP to be pretty limited in appeal to me. I 'might' pick up Crash in the first wave, but I'm not preordering or anything. Might also be cool to see Spyro, even though my buddy says that's not likely since Activision owns the license, but I reminded him Crash Bandicoot isn't owned by Sony either so... Yeah.
Very interested to hear more on Escape Trick, hoping against hope it's a crossover of Zero Escape and Ghost Trick (I can dream) Billiards and Tennis are on the maybe pile pending final prices and reviews.
If it even has half of the content from Power Tennis on GameCube, it will be a great time. I am a little concerned about the 'story mode'. It doesn't remind me of the story modes that came before at all, but a change can be nice. Hopefully we get a Mario Golf this generation, too.
I tried this game on DS once, the battle system was very unintuitive to me. Hard to focus on hitting buttons on rhythm while also trying to figure out the stylus controls. The art style looks brilliant though, and I hear the story is amazing. If I'm able to try the Switch version's controls I will be happy to give it another go.
I had a small interest in this one, but if the touted 'local' multiplayer requires each player to own a system and copy of the game, I won't be bothering. The AI was more incompetent than a goomba.
What I take away from this article is the final name for Kirby's new game is Star Allies, but I find the 2nd translation not including Kirby but instead mentioning Pokémon leads me to believe "Pokémon Stars Confirmed"
sigh Okay, tell you what. Burnout Paradise may be, in my opinion, the worst of the Burnout series, but add in some local multiplayer and I will buy it day one. I might just buy it anyway to show support for the series I dearly love, even if this was my least favorite game from it. Its like when I bought Star Fox Command. Twice. I hate it, but I show my support.
As much as I enjoyed BotW it pains me to know that this seems to be the only direction forward for Zelda games. I'm sure many more folks said the same thing in 1991 when Link to the Past made the games more linear. Sandbox games are great for exploring and messing around, but I find that the scripted moments and focused narrative of linear Zelda will be missed.
That all being said, if the dungeons are improved and they get rid of the survival gameplay focus (needing to cook, eat and scavenge weapons and shields to stay alive) and bring back items like the hook-shot, I will be in line for the next game. If nothing else, make the Hyrulean shield completely indestructible as a mid-late game item and same for the Master Sword not running out of energy when not fighting in Ganon's lair. It would be a nice change that late in the game to have great gear you won't have to worry about breaking.
Wonderful sentiment Thomas, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of my fellow NLifers. You guys have been one of the few constants in my life since I started coming here over the past 3 years or so, and I can't think of another community where I have been so welcomed and accepted, even by the few that had issue with my statements and opinions.
From the brilliant excitement building up in the beginning for me for the Wii U Mario Kart 8 and Smash 4 to the collective bonds that gave me strength when we lost Iwata and even personal woes I was dealing with at the time like getting divorced, I have come here every day for the past 3 years or so and it has become a nice comfort. I don't even check my social media or e-mail that often!
Sorry if this seems sappy, but I really do love this community, and wish every single one of you an extremely jubilant 2018.
Looks interesting, in fact I might just check it out on my phone but I am getting pretty leery about all of these free phone games being ported for $20 on the Switch. Every console has shovelware, but in these cases most of these games are literally free already.
I never understand how upset reviewers get over games like this only having local split screen for multiplayer. If it did had online, it would be a waste of a server for a game that would be dead online probably after a couple of months. It makes sense for games like Mario Kart, CoD or Smash Bros. but why would you want it in something like a Lego game or Mario Odyssey?
Be happy they added any multiplayer at all, especially since it makes the game good. Besides, online is nothing compared to the physical presence of your player two sitting on the couch with you. In a world where local multiplayer is dying, I praise any developer who cares enough to include it.
As excited as I want to be, Paradise was the worst. It had nothing I liked from the games leading up to it, especially the change from high speed chaos inducing focused courses in a pseudo open city to a straight up Midnight Club style open city. Some people like it, but if I want to play a checkpoint based open world racer, I'll play GTA5.
Remaster Takedown or Revenge and then I'll be excited. Or make a new one in the style of the original games. I might even be excited for a sequel to Paradise if it's done right. (I will admit one thing I did like from Paradise was the damage modelling and some of the different cars were gorgeous.)
I had a passing interest for this on PS4 but having it on Switch may be what I need to make the plunge. I really liked Fallout 1 on PC and this should scratch that itch quite nicely, and on the go as well
If it's anything like that Scott Pilgrim beat-em-up that got taken off PSN recently, I'll be very happy to shell out $10 for this. I loved that game as much as SoR2, and not many beat-em-ups can come close to that gem.
I dunno, I would have paid $20 for Steamworld Heist and Dig together on the Switch, $25 if they had a physical cart, but right now I can get both on Wii U or PS4 for less than 15$ physical. Hard pressed to shell $20 for one by itself, even if it does have dlc I'll probably never see.
I'm so happy to see so many of you folks so excited about this. Sure, to me it's "here's an impossibly elitist game that forces you to look online to figure out the move set and even then most of the time down+qcr+a doesn't do anything except make you look like an idiot and you will die crying and alone. Oh, and here are 11 other versions that are fundamentally the same game with tweaks so small you would never be able to tell the difference. Stick to racing games you poser freak!"
But I am absolutely giddy that so many people are excited, and more Capcom love is always a good thing =D
I love a good arena shooter, and procedurally generated at that. That could be a blessing or a curse though, but if it turns out feeling enough like Unreal Tournament on my Switch, I will gladly fork over $15.
I only ever dabble in the world of the blue bomber and even I think this looks great! Also excited for the legacy definitive collection just for when I feel like a good old fashioned punch in the gut. I neglected it last gen because 1, wasn't enough games to warrant a purchase from me, and 2, not on a Switch
I skipped over Sun and Moon, so now I know they really are an expansion of the originals and not another 'black and white 2' situation, I'll be checking one or the other out by the end of the year.
Wish they hadn't made 2 'definitive' versions, though. Part of the allure for me waiting to jump in with the 3rd version was knowing I had the 'best of' definitive game for that generation. Except for Yellow. I had to have Red, but Crystal, Emerald and Platinum were my jam.
If it will come in retail form, (which I somewhat doubt at this point) I'm all in. I might get digital if it's like $20 for each collection, but otherwise I won't be bothered.
I like to own my games, not rent the license for 5 years until I can no longer download the games I bought.
Glad to see so much support for SMT5, I might even give it a whirl if I get the chance but the main games have always been too difficult and serious for me. I prefer the social aspects, lighthearted humor and 'day in the life' nature of the Persona games so I'm hoping for something that scratches that itch... On SWITCH!
I wanted to buy this, but finding the portal second hand is impossible. Buying the game new at $80 just doesn't justify itself. I picked up the 2 Back to the Future packs with the intention of using them at some point if I ever got the game, but I guess they will stay as boxed wall hangers. Honestly those were the only reason I wanted to play Dimensions, but a 3 hour game, Back to the Future related or not, is hardly worth the price of admission.
I wish these Toys to Life games would work in tandem with the existing NFC readers on Nintendo's consoles because being interested only gets me so far when I realize I HAVE to purchase new at inflated prices just because nobody trades in the portals for some dumb reason.
A proper browser would be nice, last time I checked all that would show up without searching for a specific game would be 'Coming Soon', 'Top Selling' and 'Recently Released'. Making more categories like 3DS and Wii U shops such as 'Multiplayer Games' 'Retro Releases' or even 'Action' 'Racing' Party' 'Mario' , anything is better than what we have now.
Adding the 'discount' section is a nice start, and hopefully once the online system takes off next year an overhaul will be due to make things a lot more organized. It's just sad that I have to search for a game I saw on NL by manually typing the name into the search bar.
I just downloaded Strangers in a Dangerous Spacetime yesterday on a whim and I played for about 6 hours with my best friend before we realized it was 4:30am and we were getting tired. Pretty sure we are going to be tackling this one tonight and over the weekend as well.
Might also try to preorder the new South Park game on PS4 so I can romp through the free download of Stick of Truth again, but I haven't decided completely as I try to limit my new games to 1 $10 to $20 eshop game and 1 $60 retail game a month and I am more interested in playing Super Mario Odyssey as quickly as possible. Plus I already have SoT on PS3 so it would be nice, but it's not a big deal.
This makes me really want Euro Truck Simulator 2 (or ATS) for any console, but Switch would just be such a godsend. My PC just isn't up to snuff with games anymore and I miss my long nights of zen meditation while driving for hours to country music to deliver some logs.
These are all fine and good but will I still be able to get the Back to the Future DeLorean car? I sold my PS4 copy in anticipation for this version, even if I have to buy the DLC again, I just want it.

Darn, I was hoping this was an arena shooter like Unreal Tournament or Quake 3, not 'yet another' overhead twin-stick insanity.

Re: Review: It's All Business as We Play Monopoly Gamer
Typical Nintendo, still can't get online multiplayer right!
Re: Get Ready To Plough Some Fields In Farming Simulator: Nintendo Switch Edition
This makes me really want Euro Truck Simulator 2 (or ATS) for any console, but Switch would just be such a godsend. My PC just isn't up to snuff with games anymore and I miss my long nights of zen meditation while driving for hours to country music to deliver some logs.
Re: Rocket League Is Getting Free Nintendo-Themed Battle-Cars At Launch
These are all fine and good but will I still be able to get the Back to the Future DeLorean car? I sold my PS4 copy in anticipation for this version, even if I have to buy the DLC again, I just want it.
