I have been playing Pokemon for 20 years, and not even once have I seen a wild shiny that wasn't scripted. (Red Gyarados in SS/HG comes to mind.) Maybe that says something about me, I am more of a casual player, but I must have the worst luck.
Gosh I hope we see some of this on the eShop in the west. I don't really like shmups but Darius was the exception since I played G Darius in the 90's. I'd be over the moon if we got a collection including Gaiden and G Darius to the likes of the Contra/Castlevania collection offerings from earlier in the year, but I won't be holding my breath for something like that. Apparently shooting robotic fish is a luxury price compared to most shmup franchises.
Possibly the best $2 I've spent on the eShop. I might not have tons of hours tied to it, but this game is great when I got a few minutes to kill. The cars control great, unless you don't want them to (just try doing stunts in a street sweeper or a hoverboard..) and it's good fun in short sessions.
Another cool thing is the game has a cheats menu, and most of the cheats from the mobile version carry over. For example, the Back to the Future part II Hover Board car is unlocked by using the code 102115, which if you remember is the date that the beginning of the movie takes place (in American style, 10/21/2015) There's more, and I actually posted them all on the GameFaqs page for the Switch version (I copied the iOS codes and pasted them over, but that's my GameFaqs username under it lol)
Everyone who e-mailed NL with this 'hot tip' really needs to re-evaluate their priorities.
It's like, everyone is constantly barraging GameFreak with low-hanging bait about how much the game sucks without having played it and nitpicking over every little detail.
@Dustopolis @cyrus_zuo Guys, stop asking for Burnout Paradise. Ask for Takedown or Revenge instead. I'd rather have a good Burnout game be remastered for a change since EA has decided it's allergic to money and won't make any more. Heck, I'd settle for the wonder and glory of Burnout 2: Point of Impact over an L.A. Rush clone.
Yeah, nah. I know it's been said several times in this comment section alone, but I just can't see this worth my dime when the Lion King is LITERALLY the same game on SNES and Sega while the Aladdin games would have actually been worth bringing both vastly different versions. I have many childhood grievances with Lion King, and I don't ever want to put myself through that again. This is basically $30 for Aladdin on Sega Genesis because that is all I would ever get out of it.
How did I miss this being a thing? If I had known about this game a month ago I'd have preordered it along with Dragon Quest XI when I had some scratch left. Even if I wont be getting around to playing it any time soon, just to support Uchikoshi and his style of storytelling is worth it to me. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on the shelves after release and I'll swipe it up then.
Can we just stop beating around the bush already and get Left 4 Dead on the Switch? This doesn't even appear to have multiplayer. Pass for sure. Games over a decade older than this did it better.
I bought it yesterday to feed my addiction to the 'real' Car Mechanic Simulator on PS4 (not the cruddy mobile port on the Switch) when I'm not at home and it's different in enough ways to keep me interested. It's crazy how almost 'life sim' the game can get since you have to pay your bills and when you order parts you have to wait for them to come in the mail or risk paying a crazy 'same day delivery' shipping price. Other than that, I find it a nice rewarding game where the goal is to just zen out and build stuff.
You would think I'd like Minecraft, but I really don't.
Man I am so excited for this game that I put down $30 on eBay to get the Sega Genesis Collection for Switch. Gotta have all of them on the Switch, and with all the travelling I've been up to lately I'm in dire need of some SoR from the road.
Ooh, hope you guys will supply us with a review for this one. I am addicted to car mechanic simulator on PS4 and while this seems to be a 'lite' version of that game and it's 'mechanics' (snort) it certainly seems more 'complete' a simulation than the various poor quality mobile mechanic ports we have on the eshop. Being able to scratch that building sim itch on the go would easily be worth the asking price if it plays well.
If it is anything like Car Mechanic Simulator (the real one, not the mobile port we got on Switch) I can see myself losing hours to this. I will have to look up some gameplay to see if this happens to be up to snuff. Should be better than the rest of the Simulator games on the eShop since all of those seem to be derived from the mobile app store.
If this can get at least a 7 in the Switch review I'll have no choice but to rush to the store and buy it. Not going to preorder, not that crazy. Ambitious games like this are a real coin flip on Switch. Otherwise I'll wait for a decent sale and go PS4.
Have and enjoy on PS4 but if they squeeze the whole thing into a 16GB cart I will actually double-dip. It won't happen, but doesn't hurt to hope. With storage space being a much more limited resource on Switch compared to literally any other gaming platform out there, stuff like this is important to me.
The lack of FFX-2 on cart kept me from putting money down on that collection too for Switch and even Vita.
I never liked many games in this genre, but for some reason the ones I do like tend to be more expensive. Parodius and Darius are my jam, but that's pretty much it. Might go for this if I can get it cheaper, already feel dirty after paying 30$ for Darius Burst on PS4 last year.
Oh, wow! I was sitting here while reading the article thinking "I bet that 'one' bullet was for the padlock in the first level" I never imagined I'd be right on the money. I am enjoying this interest in handicapped speed runs like SM64 without any coins for example. Much more fun for me to watch than a straight serious speedrun, especially when amateurs try stuff like the 'green devil' challenge in SM64.
This is good news for me. I will be able to find dirt cheap 'broken' Switch Lite's after about a year and fix it for next to nothing. Have fun selling your $200 console on craigslist for $20 when a simple $10 part would fix your issue.
Just thank Iwata the joysticks aren't soldered on to the board like Sony likes to do.
I can't believe it took a proposed class action lawsuit for Nintendo to actually get on top of this. As someone who has self-repaired four joycon due to drifting I can only hope going forward they will actually fix the issue from the factory level. Obviously I can't ask for a refund and I'm not using OEM parts but even if I could I'd rather they just get this right instead of claiming it is us that are wrong.
Hopefully they can find a more efficient design for the assembly of the joysticks and just swap them out in a quiet revision, if they haven't done so already for the Switch Mini and 'battery efficient' revision.
The grey joycons I got at launch gave me problems after one year. The red set I got 2 months later began drifting after 6 months, probably due to being my main controllers in that time. I have replaced all four sticks at this point, something I've yet to have to do to any of my controllers other than ancient N64 joystick replacements over the years, no big issue as I restored them for fun but N64 sticks are much easier to replace.
The green and pink set I got to tide me over until my parts shipped in are still running strong, but I have only had them a few months and they are usually in a case and aren't used as much. Lucky for me there was a guy on eBay selling sticks at a discount if you bought them in bulk, so I got 4 sticks for about 30 dollars.
This reminds me a lot of the Wonder Project J series on Super Famicom and N64 from Japan, specifically the 2nd one on N64 since you also raise a 'daughter' in that one whereas the original was a young boy like Pinocchio. I actually recommend J2 if you can find the english translation patch. However if I can't tell my child she is a dirty girl and needs to take a bath it's a 0/10 from me lol!
I never followed him, never searched him out specifically, but I will always remember him as the top reaction video result for anything relating to Nintendo.
I really found him after the Smash Bros. Ultimate reveal and his reaction video was one of my favorites. He got 'real' in a few of his videos and seemed to have a caring soul and worried about other people who were going through a hard time, even falling into a few traps set by his followers to make him look hilariously foolish on his streams by telling a long sob story that ended with an in-joke.
Even as recently as the Banjo reveal for Smash, YouTube would recommend 'Etika Reaction'. He was a crazy funny dude, and he will definitely be missed. Maybe JewWario and Etika will collaborate on the best gaming channel ever on the other side.
I figured they would try to have one in every location on earth that has appeared as a region in Pokemon. After all, Unova from Black and White is based on New York. Sure, we'd have a lot of stores in Japan; Kantō, Kansai (Johto), Kyūshū (Hoenn), Hokkaido (Sinnoh), but we'd also have them in France (Kalos), Hawaii (Alola), and somewhere in the UK (Galar) most likely around England. If you really want to get nuts, put one in Phoenix, Arizona to represent Orre. (You know, the region everyone remembers from those weird GameCube titles.) Israel though? Good for them, but that was the last place I expected a Nintendo store to pop up in.
Yay! Now I can finally use the cheats exclusive to the Japanese Contra titles and have a fighting chance at beating some of them. Still wish we had the ability to switch from Contra to Probotector in the 2 NES games but that's a literal nitpick at this point. Very happy to see a free update like this.
I want to like it. I really absolutely do. It looks fun, especially if you have some friends around for local wireless, a little disappointed to see that actual local multiplayer isn't supported. But this isn't Contra.
@KingBowser 8AM. We have Pacific and Mountain time to our west and Eastern to the east. From Central Time (Texas) myself, and unfortunately I get off work at 6am so I'll be a-snoozing by then.
I can be disappointed all I want, I really didn't know what else I was expecting Konami to do with so few Contra games compared to Castlevania. I'm still buying this, so they win I guess.
I really would have preferred something along the lines of an extended remake with more 'game' to it. Detective Pikachu on 3DS was gorgeous and I enjoyed the interactions between the characters but even Ace Attorney had more gameplay and WAY less hand holding. I get that it's a game for kids, but making actual decisions and figuring things out for yourself is much more rewarding than the game telling you "Hey, go this way and that guy did it."
The original gameplay should have been reserved as an 'easy' mode.
I'm down if it's free. I find it puzzling that Pokemon Bank was a subscription service. Like, I'm only going to use it maybe once or twice, I don't see any value in subscribing for a year for something like that. Makes more sense to just trade between games for any banking use.

Funny how the BOSS at Gearbox says "Yeah, that sounds cool." and then proceeds to just sit on it. Like, Yo. You allergic to making more money or something? Sorry, stuff like this just always peeves me off.
"In multi-player mode, you’ll need to know and master the slightest detail of each track in order to post the best times and show that you are truly the master of off-roading!"
Am I the only one concerned about the specific wording of this statement? Are they really comparing online leaderboards to multiplayer? No local mp, no sale.
@Pod I know right? For the Smash Bros that has everything, Break the Targets and Board the Platforms is glaringly absent. Maybe in a free update? Be even crazier if they had unique setups for every character like on N64. It's a daunting task, but for the Ultimate Smash Bros, I'd expect no less.
I really hate to be this guy especially since I was giddy through every minute of Joker gameplay footage, but weren't we supposed to know about the next DLC fighter BEFORE Joker was released? I'm buying him first thing tomorrow, but I really thought we would have the 2nd DLC fighter revealed by now.

Does it really push the hardware though? Not saying it's an ugly game, but I get more battery time out of Shield than most games I play.

@Kit as I stated, they did port CMS2015 to Switch about a month ago. CMS Pocket Edition.

The good one is Car Mechanic Simulator Pocket Edition. It's a port of CMS 2015 from PC, where this was the awful Mobile port.
