@gatorboi352 It's funny how everyone claims doom based on a relatively decent launch lineup. Remember when N64 launched with 2 games? It did okay. Wii U did have quite a collection of games at launch, but Nintendo seems aware that the initial excitement of lots of 1st party gems at launch cannibalized the 3rd party offerings at launch. By making the initial selection smaller, people will be more inclined to buy 3rd party games early on instead of splurging on every Mario and Zelda title, then whine when there are no new games 6 months later.
Imagine if this is what Nintendo was hinting at with the subscription service. Play online free on wifi but the sub service gives you the ability to play anywhere! </wishful thinking>
I'm hyped! Unfortunately I will be literally clocking in to work when the stream starts so I will have to be low-key about watching on my phone. Hopefully I can even get the stream judging by the fiasco of the original 3 minute reveal I had to watch on youtube about an hour after the stream.
Both games look amazing and I really really hope we get them localized at all, but am I to understand that it's no longer a turn based rpg? When I was watching the PS4 footage at the beginning my friend thought it was for Zelda. I don't mind if that is the direction they are taking for this game, but I have not gotten much information on these yet.
I'm not worried. The developers who are making games for NS would have been well aware of such a limitation working on their games and they seem to be showing nothing but praise for the console regardless of if it's a thing or just a rumor, which at this moment I am treating as such.
I am inclined to agree the price is just too high. Even at the US $29.99 I don't see the appeal. I got the original for about $15 a few years ago and that seemed to me the perfect price. If I see a decent sale or, fingers crossed, a discounted physical release maybe as a compilation of other eShop games (I would pay the full $39.99 for a retail physical copy of this and Picross e 1-7 day one) I will be on this day one for sure.
Surprised nobody else thought to make a 2D style mod for SM64 until now to be honest. I look forward to hoping this is compatible with the Everdrive. I always thought it was a missed opportunity that no 2D style mario platformer was released for N64. Also getting a real kick out of the NSMB music with N64 instruments!
Wish the platform had more support to be honest, seeing a fan made Metroid 64 would be an amazing get.
I only ever played Red Alarm once with a blockbuster rental unit. I wanted the console after that but I think my parents figured out it was a dud after it dropped off store shelves after just a couple months.
I got about half way through this but it didn't grab me like 999 or VLR. I'm gonna finish it eventually but it's hard to care much about the narrative when everything is played in fractions of random time and nothing lines up to a cohesive narrative.
I'm not naive, I know it WILL line up by the time I finish it, but the problem is it's not grabbing me getting there.
Wow, first 'A Fox in Space' and now this. It's a wonderful time to be a cartoon and nintendo fan. Nice bonus that Star Fox is my favorite franchise and by extension Dinosaur Planet has a special place in my heart if for nothing else being incorporated into Starfox Adventures and introducing little cynical me into liking Zelda games.
At the very least maybe one day the game will be leaked online like Star Fox 2 was so we can play it. It's not piracy if the game never came out in the first place.
This made me cry quite a bit. I only recently discovered the legends series having shied away from the 2D originals for years because they were too hard for me. But Legends was something quite different and much more interesting and I fell in love with it. A Legends game would be perfect for 3DS! I had no idea the betrayal that led up to the cancellation as during that time I was not knee deep in Mega Man.
I won't mention the normal rhetoric about Capcom no longer caring about the IP and how they should just sell it to Inafune because that is obvious to everyone and just comes off as old hat, but it's a real darn shame. Maybe Inafune can actually redeem Mighty Number 9 with a legends style take on the character. That I would be VERY interested in checking out.
"When we launched Wii U, we missed the opportunity to be clear on the concept, to show off its capabilities and what the users could do."
Meanwhile we still don't know a single concrete thing about NX and it 'comes out' in a little over half a year from now. Wii U was announced in mid 2011 and released over a year later. Nintendo hasn't learned a thing apparently.
Keeping optimistic about the NX, but I really hope there will be more to it than a tablet with detachable bluetooth nubs. I figure Ninty will still keep with some sort of clamshell design too since it's one of the things they pride their handheld products on and is a smart way to compact the console and protect the screen at the same time. Those controllers shown in the patent also don't fare well with me, but as a proof of concept it's nice to at least see an example of what they are leaning toward.
If everyone involved seems excited, including third parties, I will remain optimistic and impatiently refresh every news source until the reveal.
Sky Roads was an amazing game, one of my favorites on DOS. Would I pay $10 for the same game with 'better' graphics? probably not. If a sale comes up though I won't be able to resist. Makes me smile that so many complain of it's difficulty. Yeah it's hard, but when you get a good run after learning the maps it feels great!
Okay Sega. I love you. Please listen to us this time... Do not rush these games. If they deadline looms ever closer and the game isn't done, delay it. If something isn't working or isn't fun, have a meeting and discuss how it can be improved. Sonic does not need to be something so radically different every iteration. Mario is your ally now, take some lessons from him. A little bit of time and effort will bring the hedgehog back to form and keep him there. Just because Sonic is fast doesn't mean the devs have to be.
PLEASE don't screw this up. I lost a lot of hope after Rise of Lyric. I want challenge, not difficulty. A sense of momentum not broken by wonky mechanics and needing to use every button on the controller. Sonic games should be cleverly simple yet challenging. There is a fine line between challenge and difficulty. I really hope PS17' isn't another S06' because that would literally break my heart.
Sooooooo what if I didn't happen to drop $200 on a N3DS and still have an old XL? How are the controls? Do the graphics or framerate suffer? Why am I the only one asking this?!
Ability to see other players near you on the map, trading and player battles, and most importantly an actual battle system. For a game series built around turn based strategic battles this game really dropped the ball. Skill involved in certain 'timing' or 'dodging' kinda similar to whats in place, except for the part where you hammer the screen like a parkinsons patient.
Personally, I get most of my hatching from riding a golf cart around at work. I just keep the app open on the seat and go about my business. Works good for finding one or two pokemon along the way as well. I am planning on buying a bike and a phone holder for the bars so I can ride around the park to speed up the process a bit.
Oh my gosh! A standalone N64 tv console would be AMAZING! I don't worry much about NES and SNES (or genesis for that matter) as my Ouya covers that niche quite nicely - a small TV ready console I can take with me just about everywhere to play backups of my games in storage, but nothing emulates N64 games 100%.
I MIGHT buy one of these mini NES systems if I happen across one in the wild and I have a loose buck in my pocket. It's just a neat little box of joy, but it's a shame you can't add to it's library with a cart slot. Hopefully it doesn't have it's audio butchered like my ATGames Genesis clone. At least that thing has a cartridge slot.
edit Also, I think the bigger point to make here is the $10 NES controller you can plug into your wiimote to play your VC games. Granted I don't really need one since I have a NES/SNES to Wii converter so I been gaming with my 30 year old controller with my VC games for over two years now, but I wouldn't mind a shiny new NES pad that works out of the box.
Maybe it's my cynicism coming through, but who in the world obtains something as rare and unique as a US N64DD and hook the thing up to a flat screen? I wish I had a DD just as a novelty as I love everything N64 and collecting peripherals is on my list of 'after the divorce is finalized' projects.
I had problems with Hotel Dusk, but that's probably because I was playing it fresh off the heels of 9 persons 9 hours 9 doors and wanted more games like that.
Once I'm completely done with Zero Time Dilemma, I will check into these ones again. I did always like the art style. Just hope I wont be forced to hold my 3DS on it's side.
I had seen this game pop up a few times on PS4 shelves and I was intrigued, though ultimately walked away as I didn't know what it was, or why I'd never heard of the first game. I like point and click adventures, so my selling point has to meet a balance of good price and amount of moon logic. If I need to print out a walkthrough to get ANYWHERE, I won't waste my time.
@LegendOfPokemon I am pretty sure the glitch will not work on the 3DS VC version because the glitch only works in "very early versions of the game". It's very unlikely the version that Nintendo ported to VC is the 'launch' copy.
I stink at RTS games and never really tried Swords and Soldiers as a result as I usually tune out as soon as RTS is uttered, but this at least will get a trial run on my phone before I decide to buy it.
If more games like this had actually come out I would have loved the power glove. Whether or not it actually functions as well as the demo appeared is up in the air, but the idea sure was cool.
I could have sworn Shovel Knight was already in a kart racing game, 'Super Indie Kart'. I could be wrong, but I had my eye on it back when Ouya was a thing. Just found out it's less than $7 on steam right now so I might have to jump on that and find out if Shovel Knight is indeed included.
When it comes to Zelda games the single player experience should come first. Multiplayer should allow for cooperative multiplayer with dungeons that can adapt it's puzzles, rooms and enemies depending on how many players are together instead of forcing a specific number as in previous games. It's a video game so every dungeon doesn't have to have a set layout, and the replayability of tackling dungeons with different numbers of players to tackle new puzzles and challenges would be an excellent feature.
Hmm. I wonder if they will have memory cards that function similar to the Famicom Disk System's 'Disk Writer Kiosks' in Japan. Would be a nifty alternative to rentals since Blockbuster is gone.
Mmnnn. And this is why I didn't buy Splatoon. I hate hearing when severs shut down, especially with this short of a life. As a rule I don't buy games I will only get any fun out of with the online aspect of the game, hence why I'm such a proprietor for couch co-op.
Will never know the joy of Splatoon, Overwatch or Destiny.
@JarusPokemon Sega needs to put the hedgehog on the backburner for sure, at least until they actually come up with a good idea instead of shoving every tired idea said during a meeting into every new game and hoping it sticks.
Sega doesn't ever seem to remember the vast catalog of IP they own which is what really busts me up about seeing new Sonic announcements, especially since about 80% of the time the game is mediocre or absolute trash. A new Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, heck, how about a full compilation of new iterations of some of their admittedly smaller arcade classics like Daytona USA, Chu Chu Rocket, Crazy Taxi or Rez.
Ah, happy anniversary SM64. The music to Jolly Roger Bay/Dire Dire Docks still to this day brings me back to being 8 years old and I didn't even own a copy of the game (or even really like it that much) until VC on Wii 17 years later. I agree that Nintendo should make another Mario game with similar ideas such as large explorative worlds with numerous objectives and secrets. No Mario game has felt as free as Mario 64, though Galaxy did come close.
As long as Beyond Good and Evil 2 (and 3?) get made I could care less if Ubisoft gets bought out or even exists. If nothing else the IP they own can get picked up by developers who actually wish to do something with them. I can say the same about Sega.
Whether this is true or not, I would probably feel pretty pissed off if it had succeeded. If the demo had been stolen and redistributed I don't even know where to begin on how I would be able to benefit from it anyway but I figure a few folks out there have figured something out if people are trying to steal the demo with intention of redistributing it.
Nintendo could surely be damaged, especially if the demo actually included more than the one land mass locked behind some string of code as the same thing happened to an early version of Half Life 2 and it almost killed the game, and Valve.
Sky is the best in the series I have played but I don't know if I could stomach playing the whole game again on a home console. I play my copy all the time on my 3DS and I have Red Rescue team emulated on my phone for my breaks at work.
" ...it's important to have clear positioning for your proposition and be able to explain it to consumers in a simple and easy way. Those are among the things that we are working on for NX."
So why are we about 8 months before launch and still no absolute truth on what the NX even is?!
A return to form of multiple missions in a series of large open playgrounds and collectibles (yeah i'm one of 5 people left in the world who likes collectables in games) with fluid controls and fun jumping and flying mechanics, and I will be happy.
@callmeking17 I highly doubt this thing is anything more than a physical overlay to make playing with emulated touch buttons on a game boy emulator a bit more authentic, not a bluetooth controller. That being said if this thing is adjustable for both large and small phones, I may keep an eye on it if the price is good.

Re: E3 2016: New Kind Of Mario Game Is Coming, Says Shigeru Miyamoto
A return to form of multiple missions in a series of large open playgrounds and collectibles (yeah i'm one of 5 people left in the world who likes collectables in games) with fluid controls and fun jumping and flying mechanics, and I will be happy.
Re: E3 2016: Hyperkin's "April Fools" Game Boy Phone Attachment Is Alive And Well
@callmeking17 I highly doubt this thing is anything more than a physical overlay to make playing with emulated touch buttons on a game boy emulator a bit more authentic, not a bluetooth controller. That being said if this thing is adjustable for both large and small phones, I may keep an eye on it if the price is good.
