Mario Party 10

A little later than normal courtesy of a few Goombas causing havoc with our servers, we have the Nintendo Download update details for North America. This week brings some interesting options across both Wii U and 3DS, with both systems having major retail releases and some anticipated download-only games. Let's get to it.

Missed the European Nintendo Download Update earlier this week? Dry those eyes, the details are all right here.

Wii U eShop

Elliot Quest (PlayEveryWare, $12.99) - Nintendo has been keen to promote this retro-styled adventure, which features an open world, five dungeons, 16 'unique bosses' and multiple endings. It certainly looks promising, with a core concept being a storyline that seems surprisingly dark - we'll let you know what we think of this in a review.

PENTAPUZZLE (RCMADIAX, $4.49) - This latest release from the prolific Wii U eShop developer is a collection of 70 stages in which you rearrange shapes to fill pre-designated areas, with a range of difficulty levels to test your visualisation puzzle-solving abilities. We'll review this soon.

Super Destronaut (Petite Games, $1.99) - This looks like a homage to Space Invaders, albeit with modern touches and a multiplayer mode to accompany the score chasing. We'll blast some aliens for a review.

Wii U Virtual Console

KLONOA 2: Dream Champ Tournament (Bandai Namco, $6.99) - The latest Game Boy Advance arrival on the Wii U, this follows the style of previous portable Klonoa entries; it's a platformer with the rather unique Wind Bullet attack. There are five worlds and some interesting bosses promised here, and we'll see whether its dreamy gaming or a nightmare in our review.

Wii U Retail Download

Mario Party 10 (Nintendo, $49.99) - The latest entry in Nintendo's mini-game series that's been ever-present since the N64 era, this introduces amiibo and GamePad asynchronous play into proceedings. With Bowser playing a more prominent role as the villain and some fresh mini-games on offer this aims to bring the party franchise into the current generation with a bang; we thought it was relatively successful in these goals, giving it a reasonable recommendation in our Mario Party 10 review. Available from 20th March.

GetClose: A Game for RIVALS (Wombat Source, $2.99, was $4.99)

3DS eShop

Iron Combat: War in the Air (Amzy, $6.99) - As the name suggests this is focused on air battles, seemingly transitioning from dog-fights to more focused boss encounters - it looks like a mix of Ace Combat and Liberation Maiden to us. With a Story mode and Free Play on offer this will also accumulate currency for upgrades, so it certainly sounds promising; we'll take to the skies for a review.

Navy Commander (Bigben Interactive, $10) - Essentially Battleships on 3DS, but with extra items, this offers local multiplayer through sharing a system or Download Play, along with the option for single player. We'll try to sink all the battleships in our review.

3DS Retail Download

Fossil Fighters: Frontier (Nintendo, $29.99) - The latest retail 3DS title published by Nintendo, this follows up on DS predecessor in which you explore and uncover fossils; these become your dinosaurs with which to battle. "Like Pokemon but with dinosaurs", as our editorial director Damien McFerran puts it, this also has local and online battles for up to six players. We'll bring you a review soon. Available from 20th March.
