It's that time again, Nintendo Download fans, with the European update now available for your perusal. We have a dual arrival across both the Wii U and 3DS, classic Castlevania and a new first-party retail release on Wii U, along with some DLC and discounts. Let's get to it.
Wii U eShop
Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars (Nintendo, €19.99 / £17.99 or free if you purchase the 3DS version and redeem the code provided) - This moves away from the 3D isometric approach of its immediate predecessor and returns to the series-standard 2D perspective, utilising the GamePad for core gameplay. You solve a whole lot of levels by using various tools, and in this title the levels you create yourself are shared online and rated by others, with you being 'tipped' stars. We gave this a solid recommendation in our Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars review. Available from 20th March.
Wii U Virtual Console
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (Konami, €6.99 / £6.29) — The final part of the Game Boy Advance trilogy, and with a futuristic setting this incorporates ideas from its predecessors along with the rather useful Tactical Soul mechanic; different types of soul can be used for useful features such as abilities and sub-weapon ammo. We were full of praise for this concluding entry in our Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow review.
Wii U Retail Download
Mario Party 10 (Nintendo, €39.99 / £34.99) - The latest entry in Nintendo's mini-game series that's been ever-present since the N64 era, this introduces amiibo and GamePad asynchronous play into proceedings. With Bowser playing a more prominent role as the villain and some fresh mini-games on offer this aims to bring the party franchise into the current generation with a bang; our review will be with you very soon, but until then you can check out our recent video previews of its new modes. Available from 20th March.

Mario vs Donkey Kong (Wii U) for me this week.
Nothing for me this week. Not a bad week though.
Castlevania, nothing else this week
I am still on the fence about Mario Party. I will see if it reviews well.
Nothing.
Is £17.99 is a little too much for Tipping Stars in my opinion, will wait for price drop I think.
MP10 for me. I think I'll skip MvsDK.
I wonder if they will follow up with the DS Castlevanias, altough that would be problematic to play in Off-TV mode.
I am also on the fence regarding Mario Party 10. I think for now I'll pass on it, as my on-and-off job is currently off, so spending too much money isn't the wisest of decisions for now. Besides, there are plenty of games I'm looking forward to more-so coming May and onwards.
Still, Mario Party 10 has looked pretty tempting, the Bowser mode looks like an absolute ton of fun.
Aria Of Sorrow for me.
If Mario Party 10 reviews come out looking positive I'll probably get it. The "car" has put me off recent entries however I love the series!
@drkdtvngr Good luck, Nintendo never price-drop their stuff.
Aria Of Sorrow! Finally!
Although the price for MvsDK seems pretty steep, like @RainbowGazelle just said, there won't be a price drop anytime soon. But to have this not only on the go, but at home on the Wii U aswell, it could work out to be a pretty good return on a game I'll surely get a lot of use out of!
Aria of Sorrow. The gems keep on coming!
Real Emotion for Curtain Call and the two free songs for me.
@drkdtvngr @chewytapeworm @RainbowGazelle
If you happen to live in France or Spain, their respective Amazons are selling them (boxed with download code) for 15 or 16€). You might want to buy there or wait for your local retail to have them on discount soon.
I might grab Zombie Panic in Wonderland but it's yet another pretty weak week overall.
Tipping stars is way more expensive than i expected, that'll be nothing for me then.
So I guess it's safe by now to say that 3DS VC is dead, right? sigh
Mario vs. DK seems a bit pricey imo.. Otherwise, I'd get that. Hopefully there'll be a discount sometime in the future.
Is trine still not getting to EU? D:
AAAAH!
The Aria and Dawn of Sorrow are my favorite Castlevanias! I hope that they will release the DS games next. I missed The Order of Ecclesia and I cannot wait getting it.
I also would go nuts, if they made 2D Castlevania for 3DS, that would have:
-not only the Castle, but other areas as well, in the Simon's Quest vein
-Castlevania 4 style controls
-2D gameplay but 3D graphics
-Not made by MercurySteam
New Curtain Call DLC is a must, of course. But I might consider one or two of the 3DS discounts, as well. Solid week, overall. Happy gaming, everyone!
What happened to the Captian Toad DLC?
I've been pretty sceptical about Mario Party 10, but not playing a MP game in quite a long time kind of makes me want to buy it. I generally don't have many friends over though.
Mario vs DK and Mario Party 10 for me, the latter being physical copy. The GameXplain streams got me interested in the potential Mario Party 10 has despite still having the car mechanic.
@manu0 There's no Captain Toad DLC, it's just a game update which adds amiibo support.
@Grumblevolcano Whatever you wanna call it..is it still coming on the 20th? That's my question.
Nothing for me really. Though I'll get Mario Party 10 through retail. Still 100% certain that retail > digital. For me personally, anyway.
@manu0 I haven't heard anything about it being delayed, so I'd guess it still comes the 20th, yes. I don't think such updates are generally mentioned in these overviews.
No game for me until Nintendo updates its reward system.
@drkdtvngr I ended up splitting the cost with someone else. He bought the Wii U version for $20 and I gave him $10 for the 3DS code. Since there's no cross-play I didn't really need it on both systems.
@outburst in UK so just shy of £15 including delivery from amazon.es, which is cheaper than amazon.fr, strangely.
@skjia does it not have to be same NNID?
Why does the title say March 19th? Isn't today the 16th?
@Hordak The games are released on the eShop thursday, but announced today.
@Varoennauraa I would play that game.
Ohhhhh....ohhhh......I thought Tipping Stars was like 8€ :/ Not interested in that case.
@RainbowGazelle the do put their download only games on sale from time to time
@skjia great idea man, well done! How is the code for 3ds provided when you buy on Wii u e shop......anyone??
Slow week.
@ULTRA-64 @drkdtvngr When you buy the game on one system, the receipt has the code to redeem on the other system. It can be redeemed on any NNID.
Boooooring. Aria of Sorrow is good, but not good enough for my taste to get it, so I'll hope Knoami provides us with Boktai eventually.
why is nintendo killing the 3DS VC on the 3ds,so many classics they could release, dont they want loads of money!!!!!!!!!!
After last week's splurge, and due to the relative paucity of 3DS offerings, nowt this week.
@manu0 it's not dlc per say. It's more of a patch that adds the Amiibo support. It probably was left out of the release notes and will go live Friday
I would like to see a 'value for money' section in the Nintendo Life games reviews. As this should lower the score if the price is to high.
Offering a free download of the same game does seem a bit desperate of Nintendo.
One review I read said..............
"A disappointingly familiar entry in the long-running puzzle series, that comes across as very cheap (in terms of production values, if not price) but not particularly cheerful."
£17.99 for a download seems expensive, but we are paying for two copies of the same game.
At £10 I would have downloaded the 3ds version this Friday. Now I will wait until the BOGOFF offer is finished the the price is dropped to something more realistic for the type of game it is.
My Wii U is in another castle...
No seriously, all my consoles are at my friends house - for their own safety. So... I couldn't download anything, even if I had the money.
Thomas, you linked Zombie Panic WiiWare instead of Zombie Panic DX for the 3DS eshop. Also, is the discount correct? The game page lists the regular price as 5EUR. Just thought I'd let you know.
@faint By about £1.50, if that.
Mario Party 10, but retail.
Aria of Sorrow is good, but not good enough for my taste to get it,
Its the best of the GBA trilogy. What more do you expect from the GBA?
Nintendo is Awesome!
Not that great of a week for you guys. North America's will probably be worse though.
Will probably just be downloading mutant muddy in the sales. Was gonna look at getting mario v Donkey Kong but not at that price the 2 for 1 offer is pointless for me as would probably the play it on my 3ds as haven't touched my wii u for a while. They should have just gave one copy for a more reasonable price.
@SuperDan64 Early review are placing Mario Party at around a 7 out of 10. As I expected. Good, but not amazeballs.
TL;DR: Disappointed yet again.
Aria of Sorrow is a great game! But...it belongs...ON THE 3DS!!! Why bring bring handheld games with a native resolution of 240 x 140 to the Wii U and tv's which support 8 times that resolution? I've seen it, it just looks like pixel soup!! Yes, you can play it on the gamepad but most of us play it on the TV anyway. It just don't get it....
And why....why....WHY!??!?! aren't there more NES and SNES games being released for the Wii U? Retro gamers want them so badly and Nintendo is just like; NOPE!! Why oh why
Isn't Mario vs. DK too expensive? It doesn't look like they are giving away the additional download to me.
