Oh, hello there. You must be here for our bi-annual Games We Missed callout.
It's a familiar story. Loads of Switch games — too many, perhaps — and while the majority of the eShop deliveries each week are a load of old AI-generated pap, there's also a load of great games which, unfortunately, we just aren't able to cover with a review.
So, it's time to ask you fine people to nominate your favourite games which we haven't reviewed here on Nintendo Life. It's a simple setup. You send in your reader recommendations and we look through the candidates before highlighting them in an article. Back in April we showcased a whopping 28 Switch games we'd missed, including Deadbolt, The Missing, and Tux & Fanny.
To get your nomination featured, send us your recommendations (under 100 words, full guidelines below) and we'll showcase the best of them in Part 9. We won't be reviewing these games but we're keen as ever to shine a light on some deserving titles that fell by our wayside.
If you want to know how you can participate, read the guidelines on how to send your recommendations to us below — make sure you go through them carefully if you want to see your entries included in the feature:
Submission guidelines
- 100-word limit - Keep it brief! A history of the genre and deep-dive into every mechanic is unnecessary. Concentrate on what the game is about, what sets it apart from other games, and why you enjoyed it.
- One entry per game - Feel free to send your thoughts on multiple games, but there's no need to duplicate.
- Choose only games that we haven't reviewed on the site - To check if a Nintendo Life review exists, simply type the name of the game into the search box at the very top of the page (look for the magnifying glass icon in the top left corner) and click on the game page that appears. If there's no review, and it doesn't appear in a previous Reader Recommendations feature (which will also appear on the game page if it exists), you're good to go!
How to send a recommendation
- Head to Nintendo Life's Contact page and select the subject "Switch eShop Hidden Gems" from the drop-down menu (it's already done for you in the link above). Type your name, email, and beautifully crafted message into the appropriate box, hit send, and Bob's your uncle!
If you've got any questions about the format, feel free to ask in the comments section below. And if you don't feel comfortable sending a full-blown recommendation, you can drop suggestions for games you'd like to see highlighted, too.
Once again, we won't be reviewing these games, but with so many games coming to the eShop every week, we're eager to highlight the best of them, as always. We're looking forward to seeing what you recommend!

Hogwarts Legacy
@jco83 I was just going to say that!
I’ll make a submission for Arco. An absolute banger everyone should play!
This sounds like homework
@Rhum17 😁👍
@jco83 I second that, Hogwarts Legacy!
As others have mentioned, Hogwarts Legacy is good.
My recommendation is Q Remastered. I feel it is a game legitimately no one has heard of, especially considering this year got its follow-up and it's also available on Switch, Q2 Humanity.
@jco83 a true hidden indie gem, and at a (soon expiring!) all-time low US eShop discount now, too.
@HammerGalladeBro
I have been enjoying it!
Lollipop Chainsaw Repop.
Gylt is another one.Okay then, I’ll parrot it too Hogwarts Legacy.
This comment section reminds me of the words of the old maintenance guy from back when I worked at Walmart:
"Yeah, I'm a pothead... no, that ain't it. What's it called? A potterhead!"
Monster Train First Class
@jco83 Ssshhh! 🤫 that’s bit of a taboo subject apparently 😉
Has Hogwarts Legacy been cancelled on here because of J K Rowling? I didn’t see any articles about this.
But if that is the case then I find it morally wrong that a person who is staunch about protecting young girls and female rights and safe spaces held in such a terrible way that her important work is blacklisted, even on gaming sites.
one day we are going to look back on this in shame, when people finally come to their senses.
I’m gay myself and find this absolutely nonsense
Spark the Electric Jester 3.
Really good 3D Sonic clone, well worth checking out imo.
And yeah, obviously Hogwarts Legacy. No reason not to review one of the best-selling games in recent years now that it finally hit the console most aimed at families, which is obviously Harry Potter's target audience. Ideologically motivated journalists are still sour that they couldn't make a boycott stick is all I can figure. Time to accept the L and pretend like the failed smear campaign never happened.
@BiscuitCrumbsInMyBed I think NL wrote news articles about the game until around the game came out on Switch, then they decied to not review it or write more articles specifically about Hogwarts Legacy.
@Tobiaku It’s ridiculous, I love this site it’s just so sad seeing it cave in to a vicious mob who are mostly men telling women what they should accept. So wrong
@Chimichanga I wrote one for Gylt 😘
@BiscuitCrumbsInMyBed Transgendered people are among the most vulnerable groups on the planet, with a lot of them facing harassment and violence on a regular basis. If NL doesn't want to promote a game which will profit Rowling, a celebrity who's decided to use her public platform to promote prejudice and baseless misconceptions against this group, thus helping to fuel the hatred against them, they are certainly allowed to make that decision. I for one am happy they haven't given any more coverage to such a hate-monger.
@Polvasti J K Rowling is in full support of the Trans community. Somebody has been listening to the nasty mob again and not actually read what she has been trying to say for many years now, and again it all comes down to men, mostly heterosexual and gay men mansplaining to women what they should accept, and if they don’t they will be screamed and shouted at and bullied and then cancelled
This article has opened a can of worms that shows a clear lack of forethought (cough out of touch), and I'm loving it.
Make with the Hogwarts review. And spare us the insulting prologue about the artist's "problematic views". If the perpetually indignant don't want to read the review, then they can simply not click.
On a previous article I commented requesting a Review for Hogwarts Legacy but was fobbed off with "other sites have reviewed it prior to it coming to switch, so NL don't feel it is needed".
grabs popcorn
I know it's not on the Switch yet, but Orange Season seems like a good game for farming sim lovers like myself.

So far I have sent recomendation for Tokyo school life and Hogwarts legacy.
I would also like to highlight Pantsu hunter back to the 90s. I don’t have around 100 words to say about it but its a super funny poin and click game.
@BiscuitCrumbsInMyBed Yes, obviously someone who is "in full support of trans community" would publically call trans women "cross dressing straight men" or try to deny the historical fact that trans people were targeted by Nazis in 1930s Germany. It seems you're the one who hasn't read what she's been saying if you truly believe she's not a transphobe.
(Its an excelent Aksys fighting game)
(Slay the spire like)
(Slay the spire like)
3 great games
Really looking forward to reading about all the hidden gems!
NL review or no, I think you all know enough about HL to make an informed purchasing decision. I'm relying on you guys to expose me to the real diamonds in the rough!
Please don't make me search through the eShop myself.
Removed - discussing moderation
@Zaruboggan Pantsu hunter back to the 90s is a gem of a game.
We might know enough about HL, others might not. This is about nominating good games NL didn’t review. And people think HL is good.
I noticed the other day there was no coverage or fan fair for Atom Rpg or its sequel Aton Rpg: Trudograd. They both have over 80% positives on Steam and over 70-80 on Metacritic. I played the first one for around 5 hours on Switch and it’s really good, should def check it out!
The two cute em ups Cosmo Dreamer and Like Dreamer. Really charming and fun shmups worth a look.
KILL KNIGHT. An absolutely insane twin-stick shooter. Perfectly judged mechanics, score multipliers, cool aesthetic, flawless controls and a rocking soundtrack. Bit like a top-down, full throttle Doom where movement is key, but in shapeshifting horde arenas. Very decent performance on Switch. Deliciously addictive, devilishly difficult. It’s great!
I’ve sent my recommendation of Undernauts Labyrinth of Yomi 3 times and got passed over 3 times so I’ll just recommend it here.
If you like old school SMT or Etrian Odyssey check it out.
There's one aspect that makes the whole Hogwarts legacy thing a rediculous double standard. I get not covering the game if you don't want to support Jk rowling. Fine, whatever. But then why are we covering Ubisoft games? Or Activision games? Or EA games? Those games give money to people that are at least equally awful, so I don't see the logic. Unless that means we now consider a few stupid tweets to be equivalent to a history of mistreating employees and pushing gambling mechanics to kids.
@Polvasti are those really the best quotes there are to call for her cancellation? How do either of those statements hurt you? Like just scoff and move on. What's really hurting your people is the way you overreact and attempt to control language, discourse, etc. Your movement reminds me a lot of PETA. I love the people as individuals but I'm embarrassed for the perception you're creating for yourselves as a whole. Attacking a beloved series because the author "doesn't believe something happened" or other such soft offenses is not a battle that will win you any favors with those outside your group.
How do I love this comment section? Let me count the many ways 😂🤣😂
@Polvasti You’re absolutely right, J K Rowling should keep her mouth shut, not talk about anything that may concern her or others, stay silent and do nothing and remain subservient like all women should. That’s what you would love.
I will always stand up for women and girls, my mother who is my hero who taught me to stand up for my beliefs even if it upsets others, I’ll always remain that way.
Zachary Levi just destroyed his career too. That's an own goal. That man has poor decision making skills.
@BiscuitCrumbsInMyBed I've been a feminist for decades, so if you think your strawmanning struck a nerve or something, you're wrong. Standing up for women doesn't mean that no woman can ever be wrong, nor that a woman can't ever be called out if she's propagating bigotry. All the feminists I know are strongly against Rowling's transphobia and hate the fact she's trying to use her supposed feminism as a shield against the criticism of her transphobic comments.
You say you stand up for women, but do you feel it's more important to stand up for a rich, powerful cis woman or for the marginalised trans women she's targeting?
@BiscuitCrumbsInMyBed "I will always stand up for women and girls,"
I hope that includes transgender women and girls.
So……. Hogwarts Legacy is THAT good, eh?
@Zach777 Depends on how good THAT good means to you, but it was one of the better mainstream games released last year.
@Polvasti Well the beautiful thing of a democracy is having differing views and opinions, it’s only when people try and silence others and have them cancelled that it becomes dangerous and that’s what’s happening now and some of the grotesque comments that have been made to women in regard to all this have been abhorrent and sickening, death threats and calling on violence from people in the trans community has been sickening.
@LadyCharlie 15 years ago I fully supported my friend transition. Actually I’ll be happy to show you a photo of us both, she’s pretty epic
You probably don’t believe a word of that but continue trying to make me out to be a monster.
I’m glad you replied to me though, I mean I have spoken to you a number of times on here and been very polite but you seem to take issue with me for some reason and only now seem to want to reply to me.
I submitted one not too long ago
@LadyCharlie One last thing I’d like to add to your comment in regards to supporting trans women and girls, young trans girls shouldn’t be a thing, not at least anyone under 18, because that in my eyes would be criminal abuse to a child, having transition surgery before adulthood is child cruelty
We are seeing more court cases now of adults that were transitioned as children who are now taking their parents and doctors to court.
@Tobiaku
Welp… just bought it off eBay brand new for $34
Guess I’ll see on Sunday…
@Zach777 I hope you have a good time with it ^_^
Removed - disrespecting others
@BiscuitCrumbsInMyBed young trans girls are a thing... Denying affirmation to these people doesn't stop them existing

Remember everyone to actually submit a written summary via the form above rather than just asking for a game in the comments (for those actually commenting on-topic). When you submit your write-up basically becomes the micro-review.
These articles are always fun and bring some real hidden gems to life which most people have not heard of. I play a lot of eShop games and some really deserve a highlight.
@Quarth Cosmo Dreamer is a great one, you should submit it.
@Lightsiyd Usually these articles have some confused people not following the actual submission process, but this time the chaos is entirely different...
@BiscuitCrumbsInMyBed
I'm really sorry you feel so strongly about that
@FishyS I did write and submit for Tokyo school life and Hogwarts legacy ^_^

"These dang game journalists are so ideologically motivated, unlike me: a person coming into the comments of an article requesting recommendations of hidden gems from the past six months to demand a review of a widely-publicised AAA game from almost two years ago. I'm so rational and unbiased it makes the rest of you look like sheep."
On a more relevant note, it might be nice to highlight Shashingo? It's very understandable to skip over it for a full review given it prioritises education over a conventional gameplay loop, but as an educational tool I've been finding it pleasant and helpful. It's basically a cheap Japanese textbook with a walking sim attached honestly
@SillyG advocating that some people under 18 have a strong sense of their own gender identity?
@RaptorRed
KILL KNIGHT indeed. There’s no one playing this awesome game but us it seems. Great twin stick shooter, with deep gameplay elements and an addictive gameplay loop. This game is absolutely being slept on
@Bigmanfan
Seems a bit silly when you consider that Earthworm Jim reviews are on this site, given Doug TenNapel's comments.
Similar regarding Donkey Kong Country games and David Wise.
Just comes across as a little inconsistent.
Then again they are a privately run site that can cover what they like, however illogical it may appear to some.
Then again again, they are asking for suggestions on this page, so I would also like to request a Hogwarts Legacy review.
@Uncle_Franklin Man, that TenNapel guy seems like a weirdo. If you don't mind me asking, what exactly did David Wise do? All I can find is a bunch of people talking about how awful he is, but I can't find the reason why. Unless it's like REALLY bad. Then don't tell me cause I LOVE dkc music.
@YaGirlSkyByte There is nothing specifying the games must be from the last six months, just that we must recomend games NL has not reviewed. If you look at the last of these articles they published it includes games from 2018. For example Deadbolt.
https://www.nintendolife.com/guides/community-28-switch-games-we-missed-as-recommended-by-you-lovely-people
If this page proves one thing, it's that it's very easy to say things on the internet, when no one really knows who you are, and you can't see the person on the other side. I tend to judge JK Rowling find my messages in her work, rather than by the stupid stuff she says on Twitter. Incidentally that goes for everybody on the internet just about, people have very much lost touch with the real world, myself included some of the times.
I always really enjoy these articles though, because it's really hard to sift through all the junk these days on the eShop.
@Bigmanfan
To be honest I don't know exactly, said something that was apparently transphobic, I think.
But then I don't really know precisely what J.K. Rowling has said either.
@Bigmanfan @Uncle_Franklin Maybe there is something about trans people too but as far as I know the Resetera crowd dislike him for reasons unrelated to trans people. He follows people on Twitter / X Resetera users disagrees with and might even have liked some tweets Resetera users disagrees with, atleast on another subject than trans people.

Ok, you guys convinced me, am gonna buy Hogwart's Legacy, it seems to good to pass on it. Normally am not a huge Harry Potter fan, but I will give this one a try.

@AnonyQ Hey, thanks for responding. I posted a second part to my initial comment, if you'd like to read it, as NL has a strict character limit. I go into more detail there, but I just feel like that reinforces sex stereotypes instead of breaks away from them. I'm curious to know your thoughts.
@Not_Soos I think you need to separate society's ideas of sex stereotypes from individuals feeling that they'd like to express themselves relative to those stereotypes
It's not up to the individual to ignore their feelings to conform
@SillyG some people don't identify with the sex they were born with. Their "identity" isn't something that you can deny with wordplay
@AnonyQ : As opposed to denying reality through "wordplay"?
@SillyG yes, exactly. You can't deny the reality of trans people existing
Awww well done everybody for the Hogwarts Legacy joke. I was going to make the same joke but use the game Celeste but I will happily join in with the Harry Potter game that no-one has heard of and no-one has bought. How did it get missed? Truly a crime. 😏
@ibookboyuk it's on sale at the mo in the Uk eshop, £15, but is it a bargain? If only there was a review on NL to guide us
@ibookboyuk Its not a joke. I do think Hogwarts legacy is a good game. Which Nintendolife has not reviewed. Celeste is a game Nintendolife did review. Unless there are multiple games on Switch named Celeste.
The headline of this article is "Community: Did We Miss A Switch Game You Love? Send Us Your Recommendations"
One of the points of the submission guideline is "Choose only games that we haven't reviewed on the site"
As for why no review, this post from dartmonkey is the closest to a official post I have found
https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/nintendo-switch/hogwarts_legacy_switch_review#reply-04
But people here still clearly thinks its a good game and deserves to get highlighted.

I normally relish the comments sections of these 'Games we missed' pages; it's a shame that this one is so full of the off-topic gender politics. It would be appreciated if a Moderator could remove all such posts and allow the user recommendations to shine.
@gcunit I can recomend the games I recomended earlier ^_^ Our world is ended is also a really good visual novel
@Tobiaku Thank you 😊 Although actually I've already got that one (haven't played it yet, mind you - I must try harder).
I've noticed you haven't reviewed Peglin yet either. It is excellent and deserves a look!
@Quarth I was going to mention Peglin as well. I was curious about getting this one. Hopefully they don’t miss our mentions amongst the off topic banter.
[Removed - unconstructive]
Sorry if it's already been mentioned but what's the deadline for the recommendations? I'd like to send one or two but would like to know that first.
@AG_Awesome
The above article shows you how to send a recommendation.
The only banter included will be that which you decide to add to it, if you do at all.
@Uncle_Franklin lol. I’m good dawg.
@AG_Awesome
And well read dog.
@AG_Awesome I've sent it in via the form that is linked in the article, so they can't miss it.
I'd rather them review smaller titles and indies than add to the already thousands of reviews of a AAA game from a multi billion dollar franchise.
@Uncle_Franklin Thank u bro 😎 😘
@Quarth Agreed. There are so many that get missed. Nintendolife is one that at least catches some of those hidden Indy gems.
I submitted three games, none particularly recent, but I didn't see anything saying they had to be from this year:
1. Baron: Fur Is Gonna Fly — Biplanes from the Intellivision updated to modern consoles!
2. They Always Run - Cyberpunk Man with No Name hunting bounties
3. NeverAwake - a shoot-em-up with twin-stick controls with great visuals from the dreams of a little girl
Then I started reading comments to see what other people submitted, and, well, yeesh.
I recommended the game Tobla. It’s got an Eshop demo and a 2024 release date and it’s really good.
It reminds me of the excellent Neon White because you are in Heaven. It has some simple 3D platforming and you use your God-powered hand which is similar to Ultrahand from Tears of the Kingdom.
This will be deleted, end my account banned in the name of woke . The excellent game you missed is HOGWARTS LEGACY.
A message to Nintendo Life - stop bowing down to the blue/pink haired they/them woke ideology and grow a set.(Gay man here, sick of this idealogical hellstorm).
