I really just want an item frequency switch on 3DS. "On" just spawns way too many items it's ridiculous, why on earth can't I set it to low like on Wii U? I like items, just not when it's constantly raining them and you basically end up using items more than your attacks!
I also wish they would fix Smash Run multiplayer so that it would be actually multiplayer, instead of putting the players in seperate worlds where they can't interact. Seriously, that's probably the main thing that holds it back from being even close to as fun as City Trial.
Of course, I don't think these things will happen, but a guy can dream can't he?
I have a good arcade in a mall about twenty minutes away from me! I try to visit at least a few times a month. The owner is a really nice guy and is really passionate about the games, so it has a lot of great games! I mainly go just to play the pinball machines. (Big Guns and Lord of the Rings!) I can usually score well enough to win some free games, and I've gotten really close to getting a high score on both machines. (Actually, I did have a high score on each at one time, but there's this one really good guy who has wiped me off of both leaderboards!) I really love the challenge of trying to best my opponent, even though I don't even know who it is!
Wow, awesome! It kind of boggles my mind why they would keep it secret and not advertise it, though. I mean, I'm sure no one didn't buy the game because it only had 9 games instead of 10, but still.
@Not_Soos Gah! I'm late! I was at work... But yeah, pinball, woo! I've already downloaded and bought some of my favorites. (Like Whitewater, that's a must have!)
@Trinexx I'd recommend The Pinball Arcade far over Zen. Zen's games certainly have more visual flair, but overall I find their rulesets a bit too complicated for their own good, and too linear to. On top of that, Zen is also really lacking in presentation. Sure, their games look nice, but they all seem to have very boring audio, and good audio can really ramp up the excitement. TPA's games rulesets offer lots of good strategy and some beautiful sound and music. Better physics IMO too.
Pinball Arcade for me! I backed the Twilight Zone kickstarter like, 3 years ago, so I'm looking forward to finally getting it on my Wii U! I also think I'll try the Pocket Card Jockey demo, it seems pretty interesting to me.
@gsplatinumdp Yeah, honestly the only thing keeping me from upgrading is the sort stylus. I use SmileBASIC a lot, and the stylus on the New 3DS is just really uncomfortable for me to hold. And while the super stable 3D is awesome, I've personally never had any issues with the 3D on the original models.
Wow, a feature like this would get me to finally make the upgrade. When I updated my PC to Windows 10, and I realized it came with the game DVR feature, I was hooked! Being able to go to the HOME menu and hitting a button to save the last few minutes of gameplay, and maybe even share it to Miiverse, would be amazing!
@Dave24 Nope, nothing offensive about that at all. If you say, "I'm glad Hitler commanded the killing of thousands of innocent people!", then yeah, that's pretty offensive, but stating "Hitler commanded the killing of thousands of innocent people." isn't, it's stating the facts. Similarly, as I have said twice now, this article nowhere states "It's a good thing one group of people was killed so that this other group with Nintendo in it could survive." It simply says that it's very possible, had the decision been made differently, Nintendo wouldn't exist, and the world as we know it, both in gaming and every other area of life, would be drastically different.
@Dave24 Uh, this is journalism. The author is supposed to write from his own view and opinions. And there is nothing offensive here. He doesn't say "Gee, it sure is a good thing a different group of people were killed so that we get to play Super Smash Bros!" I will say, the word "save" in the article title probably isn't the best choice of words, but otherwise @Damo did his best to present an interesting, well thought out piece while simultaneously giving respect to those lost and simply pointing out just how much more of history can be affected by our decisions than we could ever realize.
Yes, there's no proof that, had Kyoto been bombed, Nintendo wouldn't exist, but I think it's safe to assume that would be the case. Maybe not, but what's the fun in writing about only what we know for 100% certainty? And while Kyoto would have been repopulated, whose to say Nintendo would have had a 100% chance of rebuilding? They, and all the people in the company, could have easily been wiped out then and there.
Again, I'm not thankful one group of people was killed over another so that Nintendo could exist. Both options were equally devastating, and I wish it could have been avoided. (I really don't know enough about the subject to form a proper opinion on if it was truly necessary, though.)
Like I said in my last comment, people need to learn to differentiate between someone simply talking about a sensitive subject and actually being offensive. There is nothing offensive here. Simply talking about the bombing isn't offensive in and of itself.
Really interesting. I can't believe people are getting upset over this. This is a well written article that should spur some thoughtful conversation and debate, not "Oh my gosh this is so insensitive what's wrong with you?!?!"
There's nothing insensitive about this article. Nowhere does it state that the bombs were the perfect choice or that it was a good thing Nintendo still survived at the cost of thousands of lives. It simply states how much a single decision can drastically change the course of history, and how those effects can stretch far from the subjects considered in making the decision. Obviously Stimson didn't decide to remove Kyoto from the list simply to save Nintendo. That said, it sounds like it was a wise decision, considering the bombs were going to be dropped somewhere. I don't think I can agree 100% with the bombings (And I also don't think anyone involved was %100 sure it was the right choice, either), but sometimes hard decisions have to be made and sometimes people have to offend others, and it comes down to which choice will spare more lives and protect freedom. If the bombs hadn't been dropped, perhaps the war would have continued and more lives be lost in the long run. There's just no way to tell really.
Yes, this is a touchy subject, but that doesn't immediately make it offensive or insensitive. People really need to learn to let themselves be offended so easily, and not to get so upset every time the tiniest things offend them.
@SupremeAllah Whether or not he was making profit doesn't matter, they were recreating a game that they didn't own, and letting others play it. That's basically the same as taking a game, making copies of it, and giving it away to people for free. Does that sound legal? No. If it was a fan game, with a different layout, different features, and maybe some different assets, that would be one thing, but as it stands this was trying to be a carbon copy of the original LoZ.
Again, think, if you made a game, then someone made a 3D version that was basically exactly the same, I'd certainly think it was neat and be impressed, but I also wouldn't want it to potentially take sales away from my game. So, I would have it removed.
Sometimes I'm not in 100% in agreement with Nintendo in these situations, but here I absolutely agree. They recreated one of their games completely unmodified, bar the 3D part. I can tell you right now I'd be taking legal action if someone recreated a game I made (And sold), and so would you, too. Good to hear the creators are perfectly okay with it, and that they'll still be able to release the software, just without the Zelda assets.
Aww, they still haven't nominated Myst? That game really was extremely influential, specifically in helping CDs become the new standard. It really deserves more recognition than it gets these days, but sadly I feel like it's been forgotten by most. Hopefully Obduction will help bring the genre back!
@Detective_TeeJay Yes, that's how he did this. By performing an extremely specific set of actions and glitches, he managed to manipulate the SNES' memory to basically write code into it... Or something. It's absolutely insane! Especially since he did it on an actual SNES and without a tool controlling Mario for him!
This is absolutely mind blowing! I can't believe someone could turn Super Mario World, or any game for that matter, into a completely different game, by playing it and doing a specific set of actions. It's just... Wow, glitches never cease to amaze me!
You guys forgot to mention how the stylus on the O3DSXL is the best of all the models. Since I use my 3DS mostly for SmileBASIC these days, having a good stylus is extremely important for me. I tried using the New 3DSXL stylus on SmileBASIC, and I couldn't stand it, it was way too short. It's a shame, because that's really the only thing keeping me from making the upgrade.
Yeah, SmileBASIC half off is an amazing deal! Easily worth $5 even if you don't plan on programming. Plenty of fun little games and some nice tools already available to download, and the list is growing! There really is no excuse to not pick it up at this point.
Wow, sounds like there's some exciting new stuff here that wasn't announced, too! DS games downloadable and it seems like their setting up for an achievement system!
@FullbringIchigo The GBA can't play SNES games. Those were ports, they basically just remade the original games for GBA hardware. I don't think you realize what emulation actually is. Emulating a game isn't just running the original game on newer hardware, it involves something along the lines of actually simulating the original computer that ran the games, and then loading the game into that virtual computer. Which, as you can guess, takes quite a bit more power than the original games themselves used. And, for example, the SNES wouldn't be powerful enough to run an SNES emulator since it would be running a virtual version of itself on top of the original game.
Another thing to remember, is Nintendo doesn't just want to get these games running and then release them. They want to make sure they run well, with all of the 3DS' features available like the HOME menu, browser, Miiverse, etc. This is why the GBA games were never released to everyone because, since those aren't emulated (3DS runs at lower power), those features weren't available. Thus, I don't think Nintendo was happy enough with how they ran to be comfortable selling them on the eShop.
@FullbringIchigo Nintendo knows that SNES VirtualConsole isn't going to be a New3DS system seller. Sure, it might push, say, maybe about a thousand owners to upgrade, but if Nintendo really wanted to make money off of these games (And they do), and they could put them on the regular 3DS, they would do that because they would make more money off of the VC sales than they are going to get now on New 3DS sales. My point is, it's obvious the regular 3DS can't run SNES games with a performance Nintendo is happy with, because if it could, Nintendo making them New 3DS exclusive regardless of the fact they ran on a regular 3DS would probably be an extremely dumb decision from a business standpoint in every regard. Just my two-cents, anyways.
This was definitely the highlight of the Direct for me! I love the Rhythm Heaven games! I'm really glad they finally announced it as I started to worry that they were never going to localize it. Day one for me!

Hmm, this isn't really my kind of game, and while a David Wise soundtrack would usually get me to jump on a game, I dunno, I didn't really care for what I heard in the trailer. Just not my style I guess. That's what makes Wise great though, is that he can do a lot of different musical styles really well, and thus please lots of different audiences.
Wow, I can't believe that worked. He seemed completely clueless as to what he was doing in that video, just kind of like, "Yep, I ripped the C-stick out, now I just have to pop this PSP stick in there!" I can't believe it actually was that simple.
I think the main problem I have with the C-stick is, it's not actually like a laptop nub. Those things are actually really nice and smooth, and you really feel like you have good control over how the mouse moves. The C-stick, on the other hand, when say, using it to move the cursor in Smash, can only move in a few directions and it just feels really imprecise..
I'd just ask him, "Is there any possibility of getting a sequel to Kirby Air Ride that expands on City Trial?" and "Why didn't Smash Run allow for the players to see each other and interact with each other during the first phase? Was it a design choice, or technical limitations?"
Augh, why must I be at work right now?!?! I can't listen to this without quietvand headphones! Listening to this will be the first thing I do when I get home!
Sakurai basically makes stale proof games when it comes to multiplayer focused games. Smash and Kirby Air Ride are games I've played with friends for years and they're still just as fun! That's the way to make good multiplayer games!
I think it looks pretty nice, although I do miss the banner at the top of the main page that cycles through the most recent reviews. Any chance that will come back?
And the company thought Skunk Software was a good name because..? I mean, at least it's accurate, but usually a company doesn't want an accurate name if they make absolute shovelware.
@Pac-Fan NO MATTER HOW THIN, NO MATTER HOW THICK! MOMMA TOLD PAPA, AND PAPA TOLD NICK, "YOU CAN DO IT DO IT, IF YOU DO IT BRICK BY BRICK!"
Not sure about the "DO IT DO IT" part but otherwise think I got the lyrics right. Used to play that game all the time when I was younger, and still go back to it sometimes just to break the game with the debug features!
Also, it actually runs on Windows 8, believe it or not. Just takes some tweaking of settings and copying the files from the CD onto the hardrive. This also prevents...
"WHOOPS! YOU NEED TO PUT THE CD IN YOUR COMPUTER!"
It keeps track of the best time?!?! YESYESYES!!! That's the best new feature in my opinion! Now there's actually good reason to replay courses once you've beat them! Now if they just add the best score as well it would be perfect!
This was my least favorite AC game. I'm not usually one to complain about this sort of thing, but the horrible frame rate I think really put me off. It just didn't feel... Cheery, I guess, I never really enjoyed playing it. And the acorns. Don't get me started on the acorns! In the end, I ended up trading my copy of this game to get Pilot Wings Resort when I got my 3DS; Something I would never even think about with the other games in the series. (Not Including HHD or Amiibo Festival, of course)

I think it looks pretty nice, although I do miss the banner at the top of the main page that cycles through the most recent reviews. Any chance that will come back?
Re: Review: Mini-Games Madness Volume: #1 - Hello World! (Wii U eShop)
And the company thought Skunk Software was a good name because..? I mean, at least it's accurate, but usually a company doesn't want an accurate name if they make absolute shovelware.
Re: Poll: Which Nintendo Franchises Do You Most Want to See With the NX Launch?
What about Kirby?! I want Kirby Air Ride 2!
Re: SEGA 3D Classics Collection is Heading to Retail in the Americas on 26th April
Wow, this looks awesome! Never played through any of these games, and PuyoPuyo is my favorite puzzle game! I'll definitely pick this up!
Re: Bigley's Revenge Has Been Removed From the eShop
Aww, man! I thought it would be removed for good... Especially since the game's Miiverse page is somehow popular enough to be on the WaraWara Plaza...
Re: Nintendo Download: 7th January (North America)
How did Bigley's revenge get accepted by Nintendo?! HOW?!?! I thought Ninja Pig was practically banned from the eShop at this point...
Re: Weirdness: Homebrew Enthusiast Gets Windows 95 Working on the New Nintendo 3DS
@Pac-Fan
NO MATTER HOW THIN, NO MATTER HOW THICK!
MOMMA TOLD PAPA, AND PAPA TOLD NICK,
"YOU CAN DO IT DO IT, IF YOU DO IT BRICK BY BRICK!"
Re: Upcoming Super Mario Maker Update Adds P Warp Doors, the Fire Koopa Clown Car and More
It keeps track of the best time?!?! YESYESYES!!! That's the best new feature in my opinion! Now there's actually good reason to replay courses once you've beat them! Now if they just add the best score as well it would be perfect!
Re: Review: Animal Crossing: Wild World (Wii U eShop / DS)
This was my least favorite AC game. I'm not usually one to complain about this sort of thing, but the horrible frame rate I think really put me off. It just didn't feel... Cheery, I guess, I never really enjoyed playing it. And the acorns. Don't get me started on the acorns! In the end, I ended up trading my copy of this game to get Pilot Wings Resort when I got my 3DS; Something I would never even think about with the other games in the series. (Not Including HHD or Amiibo Festival, of course)
