Because that announcement was a waste of time, showed hardly anything to get excited for and people blew it up way more than it should have been. They could have done so much more but didn't and it really pretty much felt that they don't care what the directs really are. It almost felt like they are just doing it because of people whining for them to do one so they just slap anything in a video and call it a direct.

This should be good. I never know what to expect from these things, sometimes they're amazing, and other times, I couldn't give a breath of air to what they announce.

That Paper Mario game would be tempting right about now, but then again, I've also a lot if unrealistic expectations such as a new Metroid, or F-Zero game which I'll keep in check.

I will say though, I do expect something for Zelda U finally, given that it has been almost 12 months since the delay was announced. Perhaps maybe even an announcement at the end of the direct for another one in about a months time for Zelda, going through 30th Anniversary plans...

Shin Megami Tensei IV Final news would be nice, though I realise that is more down to Atlus than anything.

Won't be watching it live seeing how I am an early bird. I am expecting a Star Fox delay, more Pokemon, Yokai Watch for the EU version, FE release date for EU, Bravely Second release date for NA, a Pokken trailer. And, of course, Miitomo and My Nintendo as the central point of the direct.

NX news would be nice. I bet it will just be Star Fox Zero will be announced as delayed and it will just be other news about Amiibo and such, I'm not expecting any new game announcements.

@ArcanineArco Hoping for concrete information on Sun/Moon and a translation for Detective Pikachu were the two things that left people most disappointed about the last Direct. I think it'd be wise not to build up expectations too much again.

Having said that, I'd be interested to find out if and how they localise Detective Pikachu. The reason facial animations sync so well in the existing version in that they used face tracking technology to record them. If they released the game in another language, I wonder if they'd go to the effort of reanimating the faces with the new voice actor.

I could understand Nintendo not announcing anything about the NX, but we're getting a mobile game this month, supposedly. Maybe Nintendo doesn't want to over-hype Miitomo, but I'd at least like to know more about it.
Right, then. Here are my expectations:

-Final confirmation of Star Fox Zero's release date, whether to debunk or confirm the rumors of it being delayed again.
-Information on Mario vs. Donkey Kong, maybe available after Direct?
-Update announcements for previously released games.
-Information on Hyrule Warriors Legends' My Fairy mode.
-Indie Showcase, maybe even a reveal from YCG on the next update for Shovel Knight (It's almost been a year since Plague of Shadows was first announced)
-Metroid Federation Force release window.
-Nintendo Selects announcement
-Surprise new game announcement at the end of the Direct, maybe even footage for Zelda U (hopefully an actual title as well...)

Woohoo! New game announcements are always appreciated. I'm expecting a Star Fox Zero delay into the summer, and that's okay. It would be a waste of time to do anything except maybe mention that Zelda TP HD is coming March 4, since they've been promoting the hell out of it for the past couple weeks. And I'm not expecting any updates on Zelda U, given that they're only focusing on spring and summer releases. I'm hoping that the Wii U gets some love outside of Zelda TP, Pokken, and SF0. Otherwise, it's going to be a very 3DS-focused Direct.

Star Fox Zero or Bust...

The Europe Direct is going to discuss Yokai Watch in greater detail than anyone wants, then remind us of TP, Pokken, Project X2 and give far later dates for Star Fox and Fates than we expected. There's a chance for Detective Pikachu and the Mario Vs DK amiibo game, and the last Smash amiibo is a cert. Then probably some more discussion on Mario Maker's last bit of DLC and possibly a sliver more DLC for Spatoon.

It'll be meaty, but I doubt we'll be too surprised.

If they can skip out on the games that are coming in the next 2 weeks that would be grand! Focus on what we know little of (Star Fox) and things we know nothing about, as well as indies/VC/maybe a few remakes just to keep the release calendar from being a barren wasteland. But unless they spend a great amount of time on Star Fox, this might be more 3DS than Wii U.

There's that amiibo focused Mario v DK game that Japan got,Mario & Friends I think it's called.I'm sure we'll be seeing that.Hopefully that wont be the only new thing we see.

The pessimist in me says the only reason we are getting this is because of the Pokemon Sun and Moon leak. I mean we were going to get it some time, and right before two Wii U releases in March is as good of time as any. I'll take it.

I had a look at the Directs this morning and shouted at my computer screen that Nintendo owes us a Direct. It appears to have worked.

I'll definitely need extra popcorn if Federation Force is shown and it hasn't changed much. I wonder how it will look if they changed it, something akin to Prime Hunters? Or is there a possibility that it has been scraped entirely? There's a lot of intrigue around it still.

I'd love to see them do a spot dedicated to Hollow Knight. I know Team Cherry has been working on a new trailer, and it is a Wii U exclusive for now (sans PC).

It's the same as every other Nintendo Directs, Hoping for the best but expecting the worst. But for now I'm just relieved and happy to have another. I'm all prepared for disappointments though.

I hope this direct will be good. I've been personally disappointed with Smash Bros Final Presentation and Pokemon directs.

Only disappointment (and it really wouldn't bother me that much) would be a SF0 delay beyond the April 22nd release date. Beyond that I expect little for surprises. They will talk about Pokken, SF0 and S&M Rio for Wii U. A whole lot of RPG's for 3DS and maybe have a small surprise VC or eShop release for Wii U or a Wii U Zelda short clip.

They will explain the new My Nintendo program as well. Probably 40 mins with about 25 dedicated to 3DS

Summer/spring games huh. What's there to talk about when Wii U is concerned? Star Fox, Pokken tournament... That's about it for announced games, which is quite astounding.

I'm expecting For Wii U - a definite release date for Star Fox Zero along with a new trailer showing polished visuals, Paper Mario announcement along with a teaser and a surprise announcement.
For 3DS - Fire Emblem Fates localization info, some form of JRPG....

And to end it all, now that Twilight Princess is pretty much out, another Zelda U teaser, just to set the hype train in motion. Possibly a definitive title. I think that they must have a name for it, considering it was due to be released last year.

Gosh, everyone keeps saying Nintendo is a lying, cheating scam company. I don't know, I just don't know.

My expectations: I don't have any.
Just gonna let it happen, and see what they have to tell me. That way, I keep possible disappointment down to an absolute minimum whilst still being excited about surprises and other news. I advise some of the other people in the comment section to do the same, because some predictions I'm seeing here are reaching E3 Digital Event levels of outrageousness!

Satoru Shibata's horrible English is more than enough reason for me not to watch this. I was hoping they would have another person to lead the European Directs now, but unfortunately that is not the case.

If anything interesting comes forth from this Direct, it will be posted here in separate articles anyway, so I won't miss out on much.

As long as there are a few new physical games other than Starfox and Fire Emblem, which we know about, and not just Indie and old Wii Wii U and 3ds games.

Although I'd be happy with Fire Emblem before Easter. And another Mario Kart track.

If there are no more physical Wii U games after Starfox then I would expect an early NX release. If there is another Wii U release then expect a late NX release.

I just received an email from Nintendo there informing of tomorrows Direct.That's a first for me and in timely fashion too.

I have very little if any hype for this Direct so there needs to be a big surprise announcement for the Wii U and 3DS, but I am not counting on it.

A shame I have a meeting during that time; this whole living in the Pacific time zone is kinda new to me. I'd like a bit more on SMTxFE. I'm good on everything else for now. Trackmania Turbo will get a lot of my gaming time at the end of the month and Fates will give me many hours of fun (sincere apologies, Europe).

Man...some people on here have some really good avatar pictures. Haha. As for the Direct...way excited but as they say: "hope for the best, plan for the worst". Praying for some Zelda U news and some new footage for Star Fox to make me excited for it.

@Zapazoid While Thousand Year Door was my favorite game in the series, I don't even care if it doesn't follow that formula. As long as that rumored Paper Mario game isn't just Sticker Star 2, I will be happy.

All aboard the hype train!!!!!!!!!! I hope there's some nice indies and small-type games, whether they are streetpass type games or eshop gems like Box-Boy. (Maybe the sequel?!)

Talk about a missed opportunity.... They need to start talking about NX. They didn't have to show us what the hardware would look like, just simply mention it and show some games. Instead they're going to wait until E3. It's pretty bad that the leaks have provided us with more information on it than Nintendo has.

The only thing I need to get hyped would be:
New Pokken Tournament characters, Metroid Prime: Federation Force info, Pokémon Sun and Moon info (At least show the starters please!), that superhappysingyfireemblempopstar game to be given a release date outside of Japan... because I want it... badly. Unrealistic Expectation: A new Metroid game tease. But I know it won't happen. It never happens.

E3, and all future Directs will belong to the NX, with some 3DS thrown in, and the only mention of Wii U, will be Zelda's release date.

It looks like such amazing fun - I'd certainly be tempted to import an Japanese 2ds for it (& several other games of course). Got an NA 2ds along with Yokai Watch & Return to Popo' arriving by end of next week so if it comes across to the West, I'll import it for that (& pick up an EU copy too). Keeping my fingers crossed!

Til then, Project Mirai DX & Rhythm Thief have me covered for my rhythm fix.

I think I already answered that somewhere else. This happens every time a new ND gets announced, I have threads going everywhere w/ everyone and I can't keep up.

Repeating myself, but I think it has to end w/ a new Zelda U trailer that ends w/ "Holiday 2016". It just has to, it really does. If it doens't, game is on NX, maybe not this year.

Mother 3. Monster Hunter X to the west. Either one of these will attack me right in the wallet.

Realistically my only expectation is more information about Starfox.

What I find extremely unlikely are new information on Pokemon S&M (otherwise why bother with the announcement?), Pikmin 4 and Paper Mario (which I doubt are Wii U games if they even exist), and anything Zelda U related, because Nintendo for some reason doesn't want to hype up a major release like Zelda for more than a month before release.

Grumble and I have been discussing appropriate ND dates for the past few months now. I've been saying we needed one in early March to cover Pokken, Miitomo and My Ninntedo, Grumble was saying early April after all that released, maybe April 1 like last year. So I wasn't saying Pokken was "early March" - I know it's the 18th, we preordered it awhile back, comes out 3 days after DI:Battlegrounds playset - I was saying my prediction for an ND in early March was correct.

STYLE SAVVEY 3 AND 4 AND 5 YESSSSSS

It's funny to think that this time last year, I was excited for New 3DS, Monster Hunter 4U, Majora's Mask 3D, Codename STEAM, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, and Splatoon through the spring. This year... Fire Emblem & Twilight Princess HD.

Oh well. Maybe this direct will offer something to get hyped about. I'm thinking Mother 3 is a possibility (hope springs eternal), otherwise, I'll settle for some new Zelda U footage and a little more info on Star Fox. Expectations are pretty low, because I'm certain at this point they're saving all the new ideas and announcements for NX. Maybe we'll even get some info on Mighty No. 9, but it's telling that this game, along with Zelda and Star Fox are all games we already know about, but have been repeatedly delayed.

@candy94 Yeah, I'm saying part of the reason we are getting this now is because the leak kind of ruined are surprise. They are trying to appease us. Which I can appreciate.

Outside of Shen Gami, we have seen Directs that had substantial footage of everything that is coming to Wii U. After that game, the surprise game better be there tomorrow, or the Wii U will be a little disappointing unless they pull a shocker with Zelda.

I guess Mother 3 would be okay, but we have already seen hints of that.

After all the doom and gloom surrounding the Wii U in recent months, colour me excited for this! Outside of the obvious ones that will be there like Pokken and Star Fox Zero, I'm curious to see if we get any fresh Wii U announcements like Genei Ibun Roku's release date for NA/EU or even dare I say Paper Mario or Mistwalker's unannounced title.

Well OK. There going to talkabout Pokemon Tekken, Star Fox, Twilight Princess, Fire Emblem /SHImi WII U, and a new IP. Let us be positive.

also more gameplay footage on StarFox and Metroid Federation Prime, more surprises would be nice, but I don't see any unannounced games that would launch on these systems being showed tomorrow so close to e3 and NX reveal. They need to get major hype for that system, they'll keep things a secret until they're ready to talk about it. On that note, I predict Bayonetta 3 will be an NX launch tittle, with her being pushed in smash and the last one being exclusive to Nintendo, seems like a franchise to keep around, and its been well over a year since it launched, they can't be just helping out with Starfox.

There has been a lot to organize under new management, but I still feel it has been too long. Many fans will not be happy with whatever is shown. Just look at some of the hopes in this section. Even when it's announced that it's about Spring and Summer only.

@rjejr Spring and Summer only means nothing significant about Zelda U! What would be better? A small tease and a Holiday 2016 or nothing at all? Because this certainly doesn't seem set up to show anything significant. No matter what they say or do about Zelda I think there's a very good chance of it straddling both Wii U and NX.

Think about it: E3 is in June. We're just in March.
This Direct is focused on upcoming releases.
They want to get the near-complete stuff out of the way.
We're going to be BLOWN AWAY by Nintendo's performance at E3 2016, you heard it here first! I expect nothing but megaton announcements aside from the NX.

@Chaoz Yep. There's really no point in getting hyped for things like this. Nintendo hardly ever drops huge bombs in directs. That's what E3 is for. Unless it's E3 2015 for nintendo of course.

I made sure to lower my expectations before getting on the hype train. If I don't expect something like gameplay, then I won't be disappointed at all! (In all seriousness, I am super excited. If it was a 5 second direct announcing Xenoblade coming to the NA eshop, it would be the best Nintendo Direct in history. However... Nintendo would never do such a smart - I mean silly - thing, wouldn't they? Heck, if they announced they were releasing the same eshop titles for NA and Europe every week from now on, I would be satisfied. But Nintendo is probably going to underwhelm again...)

Of course I do, but a Direct coming this much earlier than E3 must mean there are some good news to an extent, enough to grant a Direct itself. The gap between tonight (I'm European) and June is more than enough for Nintendo's E3 to kick a major amount of rear end.

@Lizuka E3 is a completely different situation, most people had realistic expectations for E3 simply because it was E3. If the digital event wasn't at E3 but instead any other time then I'm pretty sure it would've mostly been better received. Of course the big question becomes whether Nintendo will continue that approach this year of treating E3 as if it was just another Direct.

I don't mind Digital Events myself, if only for the sake of the entertainment value provided by non-live-action versions of Miyamoto and Reggie messing around. That said, the news provided by last year's D.E. were nor nearly enough for what gamers expect in June.

@Henmii Both aren't released in the central Europe. I'm not sure if Scandynavian countries got them as well - all I know Scandynavians got the info that they will be launched in March. Meaning that pretty much West Europe can enjoy the features at the time being.

Despite Nintendo Account being shown available at the start in like the whole Europe (as seen here - https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/library/events/160203/img/48l.jpg ), it is still unavailable in countries that didn't get Miitomo: https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/library/events/160203/img/53l.jpg

It isn't the first time when they show something similar in their videos and then there is no effect in reality. I recall that in one Direct they shown Streetpass Relay in my country being to be launched. Nothing like this happened since. It's been like 2 years since that Direct.

I am not sure, but I remember a article on this site that mentioned 16 country's for both Miitomo and Mynintendo. I don't know if the UK is in it, probably not. I live in Holland, and while I registered I didn't get a email yet. So yeah, maybe it isn't even out in my country. Lets call it a VERY soft release!

@oats-81 Probes are quite easy to figure out once you get it but you shouldn't worry about it yet. You can prioritize them later. Have fun with the game and don't worry about stuff. It's a journey, really

@Grumblevolcano That ballot thing, always looked lets say not "transparent" to begin with, I mean there was no rules per say or restrictions, or way of knowing what people were voting for, it all seemed kind random, I don't think Goku was out of limits at all, very well known character, its licensed like crazy, there was a dragonball fighting game announced coming to the 3DS at that time, seemed just as plausible as any other character,
it just feels to me like something that big they wouldn't just put whatever in there, they choose what suits them, putting characters in smash as always worked as a way for them to make the characters they have an invested interest on more known, fire emblem, kid icarus stuff like that, having Bayo 2 exclusive, and having her on smash, I think Bayo 3 exclusive for the NX sounds possible and likely. Nintendo is obviously trying to gather some exclusive franchises that appeal to a more "mature" audience, Xenoblade and Bayonetta, are here to stay as Nintendo series in my opinion.
