Indie hit The Deer God was originally supposed to arrive on the Wii U eShop last year, but seems to have suffered a slight delay. Thankfully, it would appear that we don't have to wait that much longer for the game, as publisher Mobot Studios has released a fresh trailer - presumably ahead of the impending launch.
Developed by Crescent Moon Games and already available on PC, iOS, Android and Xbox One, The Deer God is a pixel-heavy "art adventure" that will "challenge your religion and your platforming skills."
Have a watch of the new trailer below and let us know if you're still keen to get your hooves - sorry, hands - on this unique and atmospheric release, despite the delay.

The look and feel of it remind me of Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery, but without quite the level of charm Jim Guthrie's music provided, and obviously as a 2D platformer. At the right price, it'll definitely be on my radar when it hits, since I adore this particular pixel art style.
Minecraft font alert.
Ill keep an eye out for this
I thought this game ended up being really disappointing? Has it been improved with updates or did I just hear wrong?
It's truly awful.
Isn't this another one of those randomly generated indies...?
I got it free on release for Xbox One last year, and i got bored of it after 15 mins.
I have this on XBO and it's not worth getting excited over. Nice looking for sure but boring, random, pretentious and broken.
I love the pixel art but the whole "challenge your religion" aspect is a turn-off for me. I don't like when games get all spiritual (or anti-spiritual).
If only it had Man Deer in it, but still looking NOICE!
Looks neat!
It has mixed reviews on Steam. Everyone seems to agree it's a simple, straight-forward, mediocre platformer with RPG elements, good controls, but poor design choices can lead to game-breaking bugs, with no tutorial to explain ANYTHING.
If I find it on sale, and hopefully a game guide, I MAY give it a shot. I like platformers, and even though I can beat many of my old platformers on the NES/SNES/Genesis in under an hour, I still enjoy them. I'm a sucker for animal platformers (I still play my old Lion King games way too much.)
I received this game for free on Xbox One and I actually enjoyed it to the extent that I was willing to fully complete the game by getting all of the achievements. Sure the gameplay gets a little repetitive but overall I had a good time with it.
@technotreegrass Hey the Genesis Lion King game was amazing so there is no shame in that!
@mystman12
I got it free via Xbox Live earlier this year, and I thought it was boring. It looks cool, but plays weird, and didn't hold my interest. I'm normally all into retro looking games, but this one just didn't cut it.
@Dpishere Simba's Mighty Adventure on the GBC is good too, but the music SUCKS. It's one song on repeat for all levels, has nothing to do with Lion King, and annoys me if I listen to it for too long, so I usually play with music off. Never played the PSX game. I saw Let's Plays and it looks like it has awkward controls.
So... is it an actual god or... a title the Deer was granted for being a boss-killer?
Looks cool. Reminds me of NyxQuest for some reason... those were the days of WiiWare gems... ah, nostalgic.
Like some other people. I got this for Xbox One when it was free and it was one of the worst games ever.
I have to admit i never enjoyed this game when i got it for Xbox. It is repetive/boring and graphics are horrible even for person who likes retro games.
Meh.
@Ventilator Same here. But I did find the Leo Takes a Look play through video VERY entertaining. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0WFBDq7-_0
@mystman12 I got it on xbox for free and I wouldn't recommend it.
Oh deer god.
I thought they were talking about Xerneas.
Deery me.
Yes, its not very good at all. Boring, but I will say that it looks good for the 15-20 minutes you'll play it.
@Rhydas It's plainly an "homage" of Princess Mononoke. (bad grammar intentional)
@technotreegrass I only played the Genesis one but between that game and Aladdin I had a pretty good time with Capcom's licensed platformer back in the day. I do wish I would have owned a Super Nes instead of the Genesis after playing the classics like Super Metroid so many years later though. I hear the Snes versions of those games were quite excellent as well!
Why we shouldn't be excited about the The Deer God anymore; It got a very underwhelming reception on iOS and the PC. Lookup Metacritics and the Steam Store.
Don't get me wrong, I helped Kickstart this game. But this game is also the reason why I don't anymore. Often too much hype and broken promises.
That looks lovely! Think I'll pick this up
I usually like this sort of thing but I played it on XBox last year and found it to be boring... couldn't get into it.
@Sir420 : Cool. Nice video.
