Rhys Lewis might have "indie game developer" on his business card these days, but his career has been anything but small-scale. Lewis has held roles at Rare, Confounding Factor, 3D Realms and Retro Studios, and can list titles like Banjo-Kazooie, Duke Nukem Forever, Metroid Prime 3, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on his CV.

Earlier last year, it was reported that Lewis had left Retro - where he was employed as A.I. lead - to return to his native UK and set up his own company, Squarehead Studios. His first game was provisionally called Star Drift and was expected to launch solely on iOS, but Lewis has gotten in touch with us to reveal that it is headed to the Wii U eShop under the moniker Star Ghost.

A procedurally generated shoot-em-up "inspired by the arcade classics", Star Ghost uses the same control scheme developed by Lewis for the rocket-barrel sections of Donkey Kong Country Returns. To add an even stronger connection to his work at Rare and Retro, Lewis has enlisted the legendary video game composer David Wise to produce the music for the game. Wise was Rare's in-house musician for many years and recently worked with Retro on Tropical Freeze's soundtrack.

Take control of the Star Ghost and patrol the galaxy. Navigate the fragments of exploding planets, survive intense asteroid fields and dogfight deadly Sentinel ships in a desperate bid to defend Astron from the onslaught of the Metagon Empire.

Featuring:
* Dynamic level generation
* 12 beautifully rendered Star Systems
* Sound track by renowned composer, David Wise
* Simple, intuitive control system
* Off-TV play

Star Ghost hits the Wii U eShop on March 10th, and you can check out the trailer below.
