I'd keep it, it's just convenient to have another handheld around. Plus my wife could make her own island on Animal Crossing on the Switch if I move mine to the Switch 2.
I don't have much of a stake in this one because I'm not much into fighting games, but I think crossplay should be a standard feature across games with online multiplayer.
I don't think they should try to outdo Ultimate. I think maybe it's time for a new direction, scale back the character roster, flesh out a single player campaign, overhaul the move sets, give characters new moves instead of tweaking their current ones, make new modes more along the lines of Smash Run (but not just smash run, just in that direction of having new multiplayer modes with different mechanics). In Ultimate they started to experiment a lot more with characters that control differently than others, I think they should run with that idea, differentiate the characters more, make them play more like they do in the games they're from.
EA, Blizzard-Activision, Riot, Epic, etc all have similar rules regarding community tournaments. People are freaking out because it's Nintendo and they're conditioned to freak out over anything Nintendo does. None of these rules are a big deal, if you want to make a profit using Nintendo's games, get a license, I really don't see how that's unreasonable.
@GarlicGuzzler Why not? $20 is way lower than the maximum $5000 to go without a license. Assuming the small group is less than 200 people and they aren't selling stuff or making a profit, if there's an admission fee it all goes toward the cost of putting on the event, it doesn't seem that it would fall outside of these guidelines.
While I appreciate Nintendo lowering the barriers to game development so smaller developers can have a shot at releasing games on their system, Nintendo got popular because of curation and quality control of games on their system, they need to curate games on their store better
Europe's looks like it had a lot of effort put into it too put the things in the banner neatly on the cover, but ended up covering up 90% of the artwork.
@Chojimaroji Completely agree, I collect SNES, N64, GCN, GB, GBC, and GBA games, but today's environment for physical games is completely different. The game cards for the Switch (they're not even technically cartridges), are nothing but digital games on their own fancy read only SD card, they still have updates and patches the same way as digital games, except those patches are downloaded to the console instead of the card. The game cards provide no better longevity than digital, actually possibly worse because of deterioration and inability to easily make backups.
@JalapenoSpiceLife "with my PSN libraries I can still redownload all of my old legacy titles in some shape of form can you say the same for the eshop?" ... Yes, I can still redownload games I own on the Wii U, 3DS, Wii, and DSi
It depends, though most of my Switch games are digital I have a fair amount of physical Switch games, so if the new one is backwards compatible I'd like to be able to use my cards on it. I'm pretty price sensitive these days though with my growing family, so if the digital only version is significantly cheaper (say $100) then I'd probably just suck it up and go with that, and just play my physical Switch games on my Switch. If it isn't backwards compatible it wouldn't matter, 95% of the games I buy now are digital and wouldn't mind going 100% for even a small discount on the new system then.
Honestly, while I would love it to be backwards compatible, it's not a deal breaker for me, and not really a big deal in general. What I would actually like more (well besides having both) is for the docks to be fowards compatible. Can I use my old dock with the new system? Having an extra dock would be great, and being able to charge both systems with the same dock would make a lack of BC not a big deal at all.
I'm getting really tired of remakes, I've already played these games, give me something new. The Splatoon 3 DLC looks great, Princess Peach Showtime looks great, the new Prince of Persia game looks interesting, kinda meh on everything else. I get people are excited about TTYD, but unless they add something to the game besides updated graphics I really don't care about this release, I've played the original a few times, I still own it, I can play it anytime I want, I don't need to spend $60 to play it on my Switch.
Honestly I have zero interest, I played this game when it was new on the Gamecube, still own it, Gamecube is still hooked up to my TV with digital out. If they put some new content in it maybe, but if it's just an updated graphics port, pass. Getting real sick of remakes.
Wish it were a new game, would have been better if they put the original on NSO using it as a hype builder toward a new game in the same style. Getting tired of remakes.
I get Metroid Prime 4 has been in development for quite awhile, maybe it will launch with it, but Metroid isn't the kind of system seller Nintendo needs, they need something that will get more general audiences excited, a new 3D Mario would fit the bill.
Four Sword Adventures has been stuck on the Gamecube since 2004, lets get it some love! No surprise on the results with Wind Waker and Twilight Princess being so high, personally I'm done with Wii U ports, I want new stuff.
All companies in China are beholden to the demands of the Chinese Communist Party. All major companies have a branch of the Communist Party as part of their corporate structure, and Tencent is no different. If the CCP demands Tencent to provide user data, Tencent must and will comply. Anything Tencent owns might as well be owned by the CCP, who is currently committing genocide and is responsible for some of the most despicable human rights abuses in the 21st century. Owned by Tencent = No buy.
I honestly enjoyed this game, the combat took some getting used to, but the inputs really weren't that hard or annoying, I thought they were fine. The story was interesting enough for Sonic, and it didn't overstay its welcome. Always hoped there would be a sequel to resolve the cliffhanger. Never really understood the hate this game got.
This list really puts into perspective just how impressive of a lineup the Switch has in its 7th year. Based on longevity, it seems the Switch has more in common with Nintendo's previous handhelds than it does with its previous consoles, as Nintendo handhelds have lasted 7 years multiple times, and their home systems haven't really. It also is kinda revealing of just how likely it is we're getting new hardware soon.
I think people are concerned over nothing. The Switch really isn't much less powerful than a base PS4/Xbox One, we've seen impressive ports before like Witcher 3 and Doom Eternal. Visuals will probably take a little hit, but I'm confident it will run fine. Arkham Knight is a game from 2015, it's not like they're porting a big AAA game from a year ago.
I played a little bit of Pikmin 1 on the Gamecube, and plenty of Pikmin 3 on Wii U, never played 2 at all, so these ports are very welcome considering how expensive a used copy of Pikmin 2 is now, and just the convenience of playing these games on the Switch. I've been playing Pikmin 1 the last couple days and absolutely loving it.
Fantastic direct, I think new hardware is on the horizon for next year. I noticed in the Peach game announcement, they didn't say it was coming to Switch like they do with basically every other announcement, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a cross-gen release. That said I'm pretty stoked about a lot of games, but particularly the Pikmin 1 + 2 port released today. I was just thinking a few days ago how I wish Pikmin 2 on Gamecube wasn't so expensive, now I have a better option!
$70 is going to be the standard across the industry in a couple years, so this isn't surprising. Sega publishes a lot of popular titles, so they will likely not see much of a sales dip from a price increase. The quality of Sonic games is all over the place, but it's got a strong following. Yakuza is highly regarded, as is Persona and other SMT and Atlus titles. Total War continues to be a very popular PC franchise. They have plenty of other titles they could bring back and would likely sell fine at $70, such as Valkyria Chronicles, Phantasy Star, and Shining games.
Final Fantasy IV Advance. I remember high school some of my friends talking about the Final Fantasy games, so I got one to try it out. It didn't click with me at the time, and to this day it's still kinda a meh game for me, I find it hard to get into a lot of JRPGs.
5/14, two of them were lucky guesses. A lot of names I didn't recognize, even among those I did recognize most I recognized them only as names I've heard before, not actually who they are lol
Windwaker! He holds such an intimidating presence, calm and methodical for most scenes, until right at the end he loses it, he becomes vengeful and almost uncaring that he and Hyrule are about to be drowned, only now determined to drag you and Zelda down with it, and his towering size and double swords make him an extremely formidable final boss.
Working toward my first 100% run of Yoshi's Island, I've beaten the game a few times before, but man the difficulty is a whole new level when going for 100s on levels.
