Re: Guide: 8 Steps To Making Your Gaming Backlog A Thing Of The Past

lacaras4

I'm not very good at stopping buying games when they're on sale, I'm a collector so I try to use that as an excuse, but I've been reminding myself the last year or so that most games aren't going to fluctuate in price a whole lot, and newer games will be cheaper later anyway, so I don't need to get them now. I was doing terrible for years with my backlog, I figure from 2012 to 2018 I probably only beat 3-4 games for the first time each year. I just started keeping a list toward the end of 2018 of the games I beat and I've been doing way better. I beat 11 games in 2019 (even though I spent a few months playing mainly world of warcraft classic), and I've already beat 4 games this year, and about half way through the 5th.

Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Make The 'Switch Sacrifice'?

lacaras4

It depends on the game for me. When determining if I want to buy a game on Switch to get portability for a decrease in performance I ask myself if I'm ever going to play it on the go anyway. Most of the games I play on the go are Nintendo games anyway. If the performance gap is minimal or I'm unlikely to even notice I'll default to get it on Switch, but if it's a game I think I will notice and I don't think I'm going to play it on the go anyway I'll buy on PS4 or PC if available.

Re: Feature: Best Metroid Games Of All Time

lacaras4

I feel like Federation Force gets too much slack because it doesn't have Samus and isn't exactly traditional. For what it is, it really isn't a bad game, everyone just has a bad taste in their mouth because it was revealed at a time when it had been a very long time since the last Metroid game and then fans flipped out that it wasn't what they wanted.

Re: Review: Resident Evil 6 - Not As Nightmarish As You Remember

lacaras4

You know, I guess I understood people were upset with RE6 being more of an action game than a horror game, but I always thought it was a good game. I played it coop with a friend while I was in college, around 2013-14 or so I think, and I remember having a blast, of course we were playing it split screen, and just about any game with couch multiplayer is going to be fun.

Re: Poll: Have You Ever Had Problems With Nintendo Hardware?

lacaras4

I had an overheating issue with the gamecube and the wii, they were dropped and a cooling fan got stuck, pretty easy to fix. When I got my wii u, the gamepad was dead out of the box and had to send the whole console to warranty service (retrospectively, I should have just taken it back to the store and asked for a different one). Warranty service sucked, unfortunately they sent me it back saying it was working, but it wasn't, had to send it in again, since then it's been working great. I had an original GBA that ended up with a broken R button after awhile, it was around the time the SP came out and I wanted the backlit (er frontlit) screen anyway, so I just bought that. No problems with any of my other nintendo systems as of yet.

Re: Play Your Nintendo 64 On Modern Displays With The Super 64 HDMI Adaptor

lacaras4

I'm a little confused by this device. The gamecube adapter they put out before made sense because it used the gamecube's digital out, but the n64 doesn't have digital out does it? I believe the hardware supports it, but there's no port for it which is why you've always needed to mod the system for it. Being that this plugs into an analog out, isn't it just doing the same thing as other upscalers, albeit only to 480p to reduce lag?

Re: Guide: All The Games Featured In The E3 2019 Nintendo Direct

lacaras4

My wallet hurts, seems that Nintendo owns my gaming budget for the rest of the year now, and probably into next year. I've preordered Mario Maker 2, Luigi's Mansion 3, Astral Chain, Daemon X Machina, Fire Emblem Three Houses, and Legend of Zelda Links Awakening, and that's all coming out this year still! I'll probably pick up Pokemon this year still too. I'll be preordering games coming out next year when the release dates are a little closer.

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Switch Presentation Summary

lacaras4

Wow, I think people were expecting way too much. I was barely expecting anything and I'm super excited about the Switch now after watching the presentation. Everything they showed was super cool. I called the price tag, so foreseeable (was anyone seriously expecting $200? It's a gaming tablet with a dock and controllers for Christ's sake). I wasn't expecting the paid online, but if I'm willing to pay Sony for online, I guess I'll pay Nintendo too, it depends on the price, but I don't foresee it being that big of a deal. Honestly, I thought people would be more excited, it's a lot of what the community has been asking for: Region free, (presumably) better online interface, new Mario akin to Mario 64, Splatoon 2, home console/portable hybrid.
And honestly, I though 1, 2 Switch looked like a fun party game. Arms looks pretty cool too IMO.

Re: Editorial: The Nintendo Switch 'Power' Debate is Likely Missing the Point

lacaras4

Who knows what will happen, but if I had to speculate, I would say the tablet won't be more than 720p (2 reasons: cost and battery). The dock likely has an extra processor or something to help speed up the tablet's processor letting it output 1080p and at a higher frame rate than the tablet by itself. Historically, Nintendo has always aimed for their consoles to be affordable, so I don't see it being any higher than $350 at launch. If I recall correctly, the Wii U was the most expensive Nintendo system at launch at $300 and it wasn't until the Wii that a Nintendo system launched for more than $200.

Re: Reggie Talks Smartphone Gaming and My Nintendo

lacaras4

@Superryanworld
I'm sure he does a lot for Nintendo, he is the COO. It's unbelievable the amount of work it takes to work in that level of management, there is a lot more to running a company like Nintendo than making video games.

Re: Poll: Which is the Best Mario Kart Game?

lacaras4

Definitely MK8. While it had a skimpy battle mode, it's main game has the most control options, characters, karts, and in my opinion a better list of tracks than the rest. The battle mode was more of a distraction anyway.

Re: Club Nintendo Rewards Updated for February

lacaras4

Put SMRPG on the Wii U VC and I'l get it, but I won't until then, I shouldn't have to go into Wii mode for anything but to play Wii games. (Also it's a pain in the butt the Wii shop stuff isn't in the Wii U eShop, why not? the DSiWare is in the 3DS eShop)
