Re: Super Mario 3D World On Switch Appears To Be A Lot Faster Than The Wii U Original

I'm keeping an eye on this one, I love the original game, and I have it on Wii U. Most of the time I don't buy Wii U ports of games I already own, but I made an exception for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and I might make an exception for this one too, depends what Bowser's Fury is. I didn't notice the Switch version being faster movement, that's actually kind of a big deal, I think that will improve the game.

Re: Here's The Resolution Of Each Game In Super Mario 3D All-Stars

Weird they didn't make Super Mario 64 1080p widescreen for it like they added to Super Mario Sunshine. I also noticed by the trailer Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine both look like they're running at a higher framerate than the original, I couldn't tell with Super Mario Galaxy, but I think SMG already ran at 60fps on the Wii, so my guess is all three games are running at 60fps.

Re: Paper Mario: The Origami King Combat And Companion Details Revealed

I'm not sure still. The battle mechanics look good, but there seems like there is a mismatch between what they said and what was shown regarding partners though. "Partners can be used in battle" but 99% of the battles they show have a notably absent partner. Also Mario is alone most of the time on the overworld, are partners permanent? I'm concerned that partners are going to be like "you get this partner for this chapter and this chapter only" kind of thing. Also the partners shown look bland af.

Re: Ikumi Nakamura Plans To Pitch New Okami Game To Former Employer Capcom

Yes please, Capcom! I didn't get a chance to really play Okami until last year, I had played it a little on the Wii back in the day, but didn't get too far into it. I played it on PS4 last year and I absolutely loved it! I played Okamiden earlier this year and I also really liked that game too, I am definitely ready for more Okami.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #46 - Sonic The Hedgehog 3

I think all of them are pretty good, NA for me, Japan looks nice, but the abstract looking art in the background has seemingly nothing to do with the game, Europe has a weird face on Knuckles and Sonic is holding up 4 fingers...?

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #45 - Phalanx

Normally I'd say something like NA's cover is bad, but I think Phalanx is a special case. It stands out on a shelf, everyone remembers this cover because of how bizarre it is, for that it's the best cover here (particularly as the other two just scream "generic space shooter" which may be more accurate to the actual game, but not unique at all).

Re: Feature: Every Nintendo Switch Online NES Game Ranked

I'm sad Ice Hockey isn't higher, as far as sports games go, it's definitely one of my favorites. Also I think Metroid is too high, the original Metroid is a really rough game, no map (and many rooms that look identical), no battery save, stiff controls, I suppose some people may like some of these things, but for most people it makes the game frustrating to play. The later releases are excellent, the first release not so much.

Re: Fans And Analysts Ponder The Eternal Question: Can Nintendo Survive Without Shigeru Miyamoto?

lacaras4

While Miyamoto was an important player in Nintendo's early success, I really don't think he's been very important in the last decade, so when he retires I don't think much is going to change. The last game to launch where he was a designer was Steel Diver. Not to discredit him for many of the wildly successful titles where he has been a producer, but as a producer he more or less just serves as guidance on the general direction the game is taking. Undoubtedly he serves as a mentor to his teams, but that just shows that he is passing his knowledge on, and that the legendary quality games Nintendo is known for isn't going to die with Miyamoto. In some ways, I feel Miyamoto's retirement might be good for Nintendo, as it can pave the way for some of the other great talent in their company. When people say Miyamoto is the "Walt Disney" of Nintendo, I don't believe them, I think there are a lot of "Walt Disneys" in Nintendo. I don't mean any disrespect to Miyamoto, far from it, the man is a legend in the industry, and probably one of the greatest if not the greatest video game designer of all time.
