Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 1st)

Aiming to finish Metroid Prime Remastered today I have beaten Ridley and had one attempt at Metroid Prime - I love this game!!

I am aiming to start and finish one game per month this year, so far I have completed Neir Automata (Jan), Gunborg (feb) and March was supposed to be Metroid Prime but i'm slightly late! I'm thinking Sniper Elite V2 or Ori and the Blind Forest for April, not sure which yet!!

Finishing up Trails to Azure. It might be the best Trails game, and Lloyd Bannings might be giving Estelle Bright a run for her mira. I am serious, and don't call me Shirley. I'm also getting close to hitting 100% quest completion in Theatrythym: Final Bar Line so hopefully I'll finish that up too.

I don't think I'm playing anything on Switch this weekend, but I'm downloading Arcade Paradise to take on a long plane journey next week (trip to Tokyo!)

On Steam will be playing the new Murder of Sonic The Hedgehog game and on Xbox Series X will continue with Shenmue.

Surely Aeterna Noctis! Got most of things on Enter the Gungeon and would like to take a break from it before continuing, so I'll go with one of the games of my backlog. Happy gaming!

I'm paying Trails to Azure I'm so glad to be back in Crossbell. I would normally play the Splatfest but honestly this one's theme isn't interesting to me at all, still might end up dipping my toes in for an hour or so.

I'm 90% sure Disney Dreamlight Valley will be on the cards as well, alongside my nightly 15 mins of Void prison, made it into the top 50 in the leader boards but I still wanna push higher.

My partner and I are also playing Young souls for about an hour every evening so we'll probably continue that, however we've hit a bit of a brick wall with a boss unfortunately.

Today I played Dance Dance Revolution on Nintendo Switch. 🙂

Probably more Slay The Spire, that has got me trying Magic The Gathering Arena.

When I get back to my wheelhouse I want to start either Digimon Cybersleuth or Nier Automata.

Switch - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild! Raising my hype levels for Tears of the Kingdom. May 12th can't come soon enough after watching that gameplay trailer.

3DS - Strangely enough, Pokemon Dream Radar so I can get a Porygon (my favourite Pokemon) to transfer to my Black 2 game.

PS5 - Playing through more of Resident Evil 4. Also, GTA Online later tonight with friends!

PC - Starting a new game with friends later, Sea of Thieves!

Xenoblade Chronicles 2: I have mixed feelings about the more anime-esque dialogue that sometimes occurs, but I love the concept of Blades and Drivers. Rex is likeable enough, but my favorites (as of Chapter 3) would have to be Pyra or Vandham.

I still like the first better, but this is shaping up to be an excellent experience nonetheless.

On PS5 i will be playing Hogwarts Legacy and Scars Above. Also been playing a lot of The Game of Life 2 with the misses so I might buy the DLC.

On switch I have finally completed Fire Emblem Engage and thought it was a much better game than Three Houses. I will now be concentrating on Metroid Prime Remastered and Harvestella until May 12th. And some Splatoon 3 doing the latest splatfest.

On xbox I have re subscribed to gamepass so I think I will give Atomic Heart a try.

I can only speak for what its like to play in co-op mode, I haven't been playing it on my own, but it's pretty good.

It has a lot of style and the world is pretty interesting, it gives me kinda splatoon freshness vibes if the inklings all had potty mouths xD (there is a profanity filter if you prefer though) But the setting and characters has me intrigued and wanting to play on.

Its a little bit metroidvania-y there are several paths you can take that you have to come back later when you have the keys for them, but the map is very clear, there's also a lot of checkpoints you can warp too, so if you do get stomped you won't have to go too far to get back to where you were. You are also able to revive your co-op partner a few times if you choose to play with someone else, not sure how it works on your own.

As for the combat, I find it quite difficult but I won't lie I'm not that great at games in general despite loving them, but my partner is and he is getting rekt too but that might be just me letting the team down xD. I also tend to lose track of what's going on a bit if there are a lot of enemies on screen, but again that might be a me thing.

There is a lot of variety in weapons so far, they all play quite differently. There is also a parry mechanic if you choose to go with a one handed weapon and shield that can be satisfying to pull off, but I'm more of a fast weapon dodging kinda player personally.

Weapons gear and accessories can also be upgraded providing you have the right materials, and it seems like you can make some pretty unique builds. The dodges work on a stamina based system so you can't just flit about constantly, it has to refill before you can do it again, same with your special moves. Can't speak for too many of the accessories because we don't have that many yet but I have a bow which you can use on cooldown as well.

So yeah pretty good, it's not gonna blow your mind or anything I don't think, but its a solid game so far!

Last night I played some more Return to Dreamland Deluxe with my family, and then my wife and I played our first Splatfest since we got Splatoon 3 for a couple hours and got destroyed. People are fiercely competitive. We'll probably play more of each game this weekend. It's super rainy so there won't be much outside time. I also need to chip into Mario + Rabbids SOH more. I'm on the 5th world, and while it's pretty good, I'm starting to feel a bit worn out on it. I kind of want to wrap it up and move onto something else, single player-wise.

I'm slowly making my way through Prime Remastered. I recently bought Ori and the Will of the Wisps so I'll check that out as well, along with a few hunts in MHRise.

Working toward my first 100% run of Yoshi's Island, I've beaten the game a few times before, but man the difficulty is a whole new level when going for 100s on levels.

I haven't played SmileBASIC for a while, now. Once I'd made my 155th game using it, I found myself struggling to come up with any new ideas. Still, 155 games isn't a bad number, right? After all, it's 55 more than I made for OUYA.

Started my first ever playthrough of Zelda the minish cap last weekend so I'll just continue that.

I briefly thought to make an obligatory April Fools' prank here before realizing that, with all the games I gluttonously list for a single weekend's attendance in such comments, they all tend to sound as such by nature.😅 Anyhoo, PS4 and laptop are sitting this one out again, but Switch library hogs the spotlight with or without them - while handheld sessions (Unwound Future, Etrian Odyssey, Fire Emblem Echoes, Fantasy Life and Endless Frontier, FF Type-0, Gravity Rush and Eternia) are a possibility, most of the allocated game time these couple days will be likely spent working to wrap up the Utopia event in NMS, having several more shots at Isaac's "Ultra Restart Until Gnawed Leaf" challenge (or did it have a shorter name?), advancing various open-worlders from GTA games and SR4 to Xenoblade games and Dying Light, basking in some horror like RE0/RE4/Coma/Distraint 2/LoF2, tending to JRPG playthroughs like Mary Skelter 2/Fuga/Cristales/FFXII/Nocturne, sim JRPG ones like RF5 and Portia as well as FPS ones like Bioshock 2 and Borderlands 2, probably spending more time with the relative recents like Rabi-Ribi, Amazing Super Hero Squad, Lost in Random and Lotus Reverie... oh, and THEN there are new games on the block again - I ultimately left RE6 until another time because the much more seldom discounted Tangledeep elbowed its way in, and I've snatched Full Metal Furies, too (there was also a Ritual: Crown of Horns giveaway this week, but it's some 4 Gb and I'm chronically hard-pressed for storage😅).

April Fools' pranks... please, I dare people to take the aforesaid seriously - and I'm typically delusi- er, optimistic enough to genuinely harbour all these plans regardless of how many of them come true.😆

Now that my N64 Switch online controller has arrived, I am back to Goldeneye 007 and loving playing it the proper way!
And it’s so good. Okay so the graphics are naff by todays standards but it’s super slick on Switch and with the music as well it’s an absolute joy to play. An absolute joy!!
If I get a bit of additional time then I will keep ploughing on with another beauty and Metroid Prime Remastered.

Almost done with Persona 5 Strikers on Switch and I’m gonna play Sonic The Hedgehog 1 and 2 on NSO next and Castlevania 1.

Was also debating on finally playing Uncharted 3 on Ps5.

Finally I’m gonna start Final Fantasy IX as soon as possible because I’m really in the mood for Final Fantasy.

I’m going to play some more of Squish remastered as well which I was so happy about when it shadow dropped. Was the 1st game and watch I ever played when I was ten -35 years ago eek / and it looks great now but still maintains its core gaming values.

Super Mario Odyssey on the Switch (I’ve got just under 150 power moons to go)

I'm currently playing Sonic and Knickers 3 (silly autocorrect) as Knuckles on Sonic Mega Collection for GameCube. I think the internal clock battery needs replacing for my GameCube too as it keeps asking me to set the date and time.

Will be playing various Sonic games this weekend, 3D Blast, Spinball and Sonic Adventure DX as I really fancy more Sonic.

Splatoon 3 Splatfest focus for this weekend with some MK8 Deluxe mixed in.

I’m playing Resident Evil 4…on the Switch.

I started my day off with a few rounds of Pac-Man 99. Having moved on from that, I’m about to fire up the King of Cards campaign in Shovel Knight Treasure Trove.

I also have Evergate, waiting to be played, so I might start that this weekend as well.

Metroid Prime 2 Echoes Remastered. Nintendo is on a roll with these shadow drops... so "shadow" they didn't even do a Direct... and released it on a Saturday!

While I managed to hold out for an agonizing three weeks for the MP1 physical, I'm going digital this time and will double-dip for the Collector's Edition. Money's tight, but I love this game too much!

This weekend I won’t be playing Octopath Traveler II because I finally beat the game. What an incredible game and even more fantastic experience. To me, the game belongs in the pantheon of the all-time great JRPGs. It will hands down go in my top 10 of all time in terms of RPGs.

My main game I’ll be focusing on is Resident Evil 4 Remake (Xbox Series X). I’m roughly halfway through the game and it has been wonderful so far.

What I’m impressed by the most is its level design and pacing. As a kid playing originally, these two things never interested me. Now that I’m older and can appreciate the finer things — I see how much difference the little things can make.

The level design is reminiscent of From Software’s Dark Souls series and beyond. Everything interconnects and it’s fascinating to see how it all comes together in an incredible layout, particularly with the castle. And the developers knew how to balance action and horror as you make your way through this backcountry side and ominous castle.There’s never too much of one or the other.

Overall, it’s a superb remake that I find to be essential. I’m glad the fond memories I have playing this game in the GameCube and PS2 era aren’t sullied — in fact, they are probably enhanced.

The last game I’ll be playing is Sifu (Xbox Series X). I recently watched John Wick 4, which is an amazing movie with some of the best fight scenes I’ve ever witnessed on film, so I’ve been in a brawler mood. And yes, I’ve watched The Raid 1 & 2 and The Man From Nowhere.

I played it originally on the PS5 and it quickly earned a spot in one of my favorite PlayStation games, but I never completed it due to Elden Ring releasing shortly thereafter. Now that it has come to Xbox, I decided to support developer Sloclap and purchase the game on this platform. It’s just as good as I remember, if not better.

I’ll be playing in splatoon 3 with the splat fest going on and I’m going thru re4 remake on professional. I want to unlock the hand cannon but not sure about the requirements, you can’t use special weapons. I don’t know if that means weapons you’ve fully upgraded or ones you’ve unlocked by completing the game.

Still playing Hades, and have warmed up to it more than last week. While not quite on the 10 bandwagon (yet?), it’s a solid 8.5-9 for me. Still, I’ve more to do in the game, so who knows? I might eventually hop on board after all.

Playing some more Brok the InvestiGator AKA "the only game on the Switch with accessibility features for blindness". Good thing it's also a fun game.

I mean to do some Ring Fit Advnture today, too. After completing the first round of extra fitness levels i've spent the week slacking off and really need to get back to it this weekend.

Other weekend activities will include Lego (building the Boutique Hotel veeeeeeeeeeeery slowly!) and hopefully some writing and crochet.

Waiting for the Eurostar to Brussels - few days holiday with the family. I’ve left the Switch at home and brought the 3DS so will start on some of those recent purchases - Shovel Knight, the Steamworld Dig games, Virtues Last Reward, maybe a couple of others. Not played the 3DS for ages so quite looking forward to it!

This weekend I’ll be wading more deeply into the fantastically eerie DREDGE, which is really giving me the creeps.

I’ll also go Power Moon hunting in Super Mario Odyssey’s Mushroom Kingdom. My first-ever play-through of Mario’s “bespoke Switch outing” (love the writing, Nintendo Life) is nearing its end, and I’m actually pretty sad about it.

I’ll also be gussying up Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Sunlit Plateau biome in preparation for the arrival of King Simba next week! So, lots to do!

I'm playing the new Tears of the Kingdom demo!

On the steam deck- finally, I purchased octopath traveler 2; I can't wait for a sale; I own it already on the switch. However, I like it better on my steam deck after trying the demo. Now, I have put in a total of 20hrs so far.

Playing some Persona 5 Royal this weekend. I'm about halfway through November and the game's been really picking up steam. Really excited to see where it goes from here. If I feel like I need to take a break, I purchased the Ace Attorney games on 3Ds last week so I might take a crack at those too.

I'll be picking up my copy of Metroid Prime Remastered today, so I'll be focusing on that for the near future.

My weekend belongs to Metroid Prime Trilogy: Remastered. Nintendo was quite stingy by only releasing the first game. I get to revisit Tallon IV, Aether, Skytown, Bryyo....Hard to believe scalpers went crazy over the original MP:R launch....

Ace Attorney 4: Apollo Justice on 3DS. I'm currently on episode 3. It's actually really fun. I still kind of miss the old characters, but I'm starting to grow fond of the new ones.

It's the first weekend post 3DS/Wii U eShop closure, so it's time to play some of the Wii U Virtual Console games I got. I'm starting with
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time: Arrived to Yoshi's Island of the past. Playing this version is a little tougher than the original when you have to focus on the Touch Screen but the Top Screen sections are in a small screen. I cannot find good settings for the screens without compromising the text size.

Mega Man 2: Defeated Bubble Man and Quick Man, the latter without Flash Man's weapon that stops the OHKO lasers on my first try, that should be a PS Trophy or an Xbox Achievement.

Excitebike 64: Learning the controls before tackling the game. Though I completed the tutorial to unlock the emulated NES Excitebike.

Unfortunately when I was going to get my final purchases, the traffic didn't allow me to continue and I was left with 300 pesos I couldn't use before purchases were no more.
Still deciding what to do with that leftover that I can now use on the Switch and the 300 pesos in My Nintendo Gold Points I accumulated. Maybe I'll save them for Metroid Prime Remastered in case I cannot find the physical version.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Vita) - The burning buildings really pop on the OLED screen!

Hitman GO (Windows Phone) - Nearly 3/4 of the way through the game now.

Dredge and Ninja Jaja-maru Legendary Ninja Collection delivered this week, so after doing a few chores this rainy Saturday I hope to try those out. Or maybe give the old Wii U some love after the eShop closure and play Yoshi’s Wooly World with my youngest. It’s on our minds since we watched the wooly animated shorts last night, after I mentioned Poochy could be coming to MK8D. 🐶 ❤️

Thought I was going to be playing REMNANT: FROM THE ASHES, but my physical copy has been delayed. It's METROID PRIME: REMASTERED all over again!!! Guess I will download FUR SQUADRON and maybe play some more DIABLO 3 as I am having withdrawals after the fun I had with IV's beta. Probably finish up GRAPPLE DOG, too.

I’m planning on finishing Fire Emblem Engage this weekend! I’m on Chapter 23 and just gave my Pact Ring to Alfred. He was a really sweet character and I loved his ring scene! Can’t wait to see how this amazing game ends.

Um. Just wrapped up the Messenger on ps5 after loving it on Switch, got the platinum trophy. Maybe some Onion Assault on switch if I find time. Still have to wrap up Tales of Arise at some point though, and then make room for the new Zelda game.

Last Saturday I finally finished Persona 5 Royal after about 120 hours. I think the game is solid overall but unfortunately, I ran into this annoying bug where after you beat the third phase of the final boss it gets stuck on a loading screen. I looked into it more and I guess it was linked to the fact that I had network functions turned on. So I had to force close the game and redo the fight all over again. It really soured my experience towards the end of the game and by time the credits rolled I was still annoyed lol.

Anyway I'm likely going to be playing Final Fantasy XIII over the weekend. I'm currently about 21 hours in and I just started chapter 11. So far I've been enjoying this game quite a lot. Sure the game is linear but it hasn't bothered me so far. I guess after playing so many games with big worlds to explore I don't mind playing something a bit more linear.

For singleplayer I’m going to be continuing Persona 5 Royal. I’m currently playing the part right after the 4th palace. I’ll also be playing Super Mario Bros. 3 through SNES Switch Online.

For multiplayer I’ll be playing Fortnite, Smash Ultimate, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

I’m glad you’ve had some fun playing Brok and that it’s brought you back to the forums here! Hopefully some more devs build accessible games and give you more to choose from soon. You’d think those mostly text, choose-your-own-adventure games like the Steve Jackson titles that Kate Gray liked could be fully voiced at least, to help people.

Finishing AI: The Somnium Files.. Absolutely brilliant. Will be starting the sequel immediately afterwards.

Phantom Breaker: Omnia – completed Tokiya's and Itsuki's stories in Story Mode.
Phantom Breaker Battlegrounds Overdrive – played Arcade Mode as Mikoto Nishina to gain some EXP. Failed at the Stage 0 on battle with M(stage's final boss).
Android:
Townscaper – built a small town. Got tired less than after an hour. Deleted the game.
Reigns – finished the game on one of the main 3 endings, where dear with crown is depicted on the card. Began 2nd walkthrough.
Out There Ω Edition – did few unsuccessful runs on easy level difficulty. On the current run I got a sphere-like spaceship with some big tree in it. Run out of fuel. Already used one last chance option. I have one Omega element, but, I doubt that it will help and save me from the Game Over. This spaceship is very hungry for fuel. And encounters of planets with fuel became rare... I hate random in this game.
Something happened to my Nintendo Switch's screen at Monday. Seems like a small artifact. I've shocked, annoyed, and depressed by this thing. I use my Switch very carefully and accurately... I use console only at my home. I almost don't use screen at all. And my Switch is only about 2,5 years old... So, I don't know how and why this thing happened... And I don't know what to do next yet... Oh, and yeah - because of that event I'm out of despair began download some good not-free games for free. Yep, that's bad, but, for me that's better than nothing. Games on Android are overpriced and their optimization's quality is always under questions. And I'm not a mobile gamer or owner of cool gaming smartphone... Well... Have a nice gaming week, everyone.

Since Resident Evil 4 Remake released it's taken up most of my gaming time and will continue to do so.

I finally picked up copies of Bayonetta Origins & Metroid Prime Remastered yesterday. I started Bayonetta last night and so far so good.

With Hogwarts Legacy, Octopath Traveler 2, & Fatal Frame Mask of the Lunar Eclipse I still need to finish.

I played 3DS FOMO last weekend so this weekend I am playing the fruits of those labours. I've been enjoying Yo Kai Watch 3 more than Pokemon S/V so that is fun and refreshing for monster catching.

On the Switch I'm running through Cereza and having a blast on a recently picked up cheap eCopy of Level 5's Ni No Kuni. Super relaxing game that reminds me of Dark Cloud 2 in a way. That was one of my favorite games before I cared who published what or what games were on the horizon.

Level 5 has gotten more than a few bucks from me this past March!

The first Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. It had been in my backlog for years. Oh my gosh, what a fun game!

Work on NEO TWEWY! I'm getting so close to 100% on my file, I can't wait to actually do that for once. I'll definitely be doing this on the PS4 version in the future.

I'll be hunting in Pokemon Scarlet this weekend too, as I'm doing a Pink Shinies Only SBQ, and I've got two members so far!

If I have the time, I'll dive into either P3P or KH on my PS4. Not sure which one I wanna give attention to just yet.

Series S: Halo Infinite (Season 3 is so good!)

I just finished Zelda Minish Cap on NSO. I played it once before through the 3DS ambassador program and I can't believe I didn't realize how great a game it is back then! I don't have any strong urges to play anything else, so maybe I'll take the rest of the weekend off.

I just recently purchased Super Smash Bros Ultimate so I will be playing that game ferociously this weekend by myself and with my kids. It is going to be a great time. Also have WrestleMania to look forward to tonight.

Splatoon 3 (Go Team Nessie!) will be my main Switch game. I might pick Death's Door back up soon, too. I should probably get through that before I start on the Fire Emblem DLC.

Resident Evil 4 Remake's still taking a lot of my attention as well. I finished my first run, so I started my second earlier today! It's definitely my new favorite RE. I can't wait for the Mercenaries DLC! I might get in some more Monster Hunter Stories and Rhythm Heaven Megamix on my 3DS as well.

It's gorgeous and its controls are very soft, responsive and good
It's kind of my first metroidvania(I also played Metroid zero mission but due to a bug, I couldn't end it), and I think it's a good game too start the genre with, it have a complete map and you (probably) will not get lost in it

@Nanami_Ataraxia Haha. After playing DREDGE, I have to go fishing in Dreamlight Valley just to remind myself that video-game fishing can be serene. Hope you enjoy the game, too! Also, I’m ready for a DREDGE x Strange Horticulture crossover adventure.

As far as decorating the Sunlit Plateau is concerned, I have been pretty pleased with the placement of Buzz’s R.V. in there, surrounded by the makings of a cozy campsite (cook fire, picnic table, tiki torches, and some odds and ends). I’ve also made a sprawling compound/estate around the nucleus of Mirabel’s Mini-Casita, which I’ve placed next to the big pond across the bridge. I’ve enjoyed decorating in Disney Dreamlight Valley more than in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, mostly because I can’t do any terra-forming. The addition of terra-forming, while a great freedom that many enjoy, just overwhelms me. My perfectionism can’t handle the amount of possibility that terra-forming opens up! What’s your favorite biome in the game?

I have Strange Horticulture in the backlog of doom as well, goodness knows when I'll get to it though, but the premise seemed cool!

Ooh that sounds nice I would love to see it (maybe watch this space for when they add multiplayer) I was boring and put the Mini-Casita in the plaza, there's not much fanfare around it, and after reading what you did I kinda feel bad for it/her XD.

I have only just started pathing really, and then I ran out of materials for the one I was using so I've been slowly grinding for that whilst main-ing another game, so my progress has been stunted a bit.

Funny enough I think I prefer the Animal Crossing decorating despite it being inferior in every conceivable way (being able to move trees and houses is an absolute godsend) just because of how overwhelming it is in Disney, after tidying a couple of areas up I just have choice paralysis whereas in Animal Crossing you can start small and build around it which is great if you are bad at decorating like myself xD My New Horizons town is pretty awful but its my awful that I made myself so... xD

Also so many materials are needed to create furniture in DDV, it seems like a pipe dream if you are playing the game alongside something else.

Oh I'm with you there, I can't terraform well at all. I think in recent years its the overwhelming pressure of creators on youtube/social media, it doesn't matter what you do your town will always look inadequate, whereas in reality most normal people's towns won't look like that at all. Thing is though with terraforming, if you end up hating what you've done with it, it would take a lot of work (or be near impossible) to get it back to what it looked like before, that and it's hard to make it look organic and not like pseudo Minecraft blocks xD

My favourite biome?? Hmm I don't know I think I have a soft spot for the Peaceful meadow despite it being unlocked early, they are all pretty good to be honest minus the forgotten lands because of that annoying green fire stuff (maybe you can get rid of it in the end but I haven't managed it yet)

@daveMcFlave I really liked Rosado too! I've finished the game now and yeah it didn't really make much of a difference lol. I would've liked more of a description at the end of how the relationship between the character we chose turned out.
