@Polvasti Wrong, it only states "This review will focus on the new Switch 2 additions" which is perfectly understandable, because they have written about the base game before. However the review and score are assigned to the whole package MW base game + Bellabel park. I’d like to be wrong, so please point me to where it says the review score is only for the Upgrade Pack.
@Grim If you play double (co-op) you share a single screen, while if you play against each other you have a vertical split-screen. I‘d have to check if there are other options in the menu, but that‘s the default setting. Hope this helps!
A Resi 4 style remake of OoT with all the Switch 2 bells and whistles is all I want for Christmas this year. Damn, it‘s about 20 years since I last played the original …
@progx Yes, they seem to be gunning for engagement driven by doom and gloom / controversy more and more. Just look at the review (incurring a massive amount of comments) Mario Wonder Switch 2 received the other day …
@FredBiletnikoff "This is a separate score, it clearly states it's only for the new content" It actually doesn‘t. It only states that the review focuses on the new Switch 2 additions – which makes sense, because there‘s a review for the base game already. However the rating and review score are for the whole package, base game + DLC. How does a 9/10 game with actual content added on top suddenly become a 6/10? Where exactly does it state that the review is only for the upgrade pack? This review is either unfair or highly misleading.
Though I'm not much interested in the DLC, is this actually a fair review for the whole package? As a standalone review for the Upgrade I might agree, but this is the base game that NL scored 9/10 + the new DLC included. How can this score so low? 3 whole points deduction for what … the higher price point?
Just tried some games that released while Switch 2 was already out, but didn't get a dedicated version: Shinobi, Ninja Gaiden, Absolum … Awesome! All absolutely predestined for handheld play. The improved console performance and quick load times that are now paired with the new visual clarity makes this the perfect place to play these games.
So far I tried Astral Chain, Metroid Dread, Prime Remastered, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Rush Rally (where you can increase environmental detail and increase/unlock framerate). If you play mostly handheld: game changer!
@Ewaldus Yesss, Astral Chain now looks amazing in handheld! Time for my first playthrough I guess …
This update is my worst nightmare! As someone who almost exclusively plays handheld it means my Switch 1 backlog has returned to haunt me. So many games … 😆
Wrapped up Minishoot‘ Adventures, Skate Story and ChromaGun 2 this week, after co-op (how else?) finishing Split Fiction last weekend. Started the day with a coffee and Viewfinder. Quite cozy puzzling so far. Also got Blue Prince on sale two days ago. I guess I‘ll start that one up too + some Mario Tennis Fever doubles in the evening. Happy Gaming!
I join into the shared sentiment: 9/10 easily and the perfect length for a game (I have too many anyways). Rolled the credits yesterday evening and am currently working my way towards 100 % completion.
@EarthboundBenjy I'd say it's the best they can do right now. Make a clean cut and fresh start for Switch 2. I can imagine it a nightmare task to clean up the eshop as it is now (evaluating thousands of games they once let in, deciding which games to pull and which not, as well as subsequent complaints and legal battles).
@Genichiro That's exactly what drew me into Silksong and finally into Hollow Knight as well. Just the feel of the movement and gameplay (tactile, precise and "crunchy") combined with a weighty sense of craftmanship and dense atmosphere. Silksong was the only game I played for two whole months. Enjoy!
Played through this on Switch 2 (in handheld) before the upgrade. The bump in resolution alone makes a massive difference. This looks so much better. 120fps is also nice and the added effects contribute to the atmosphere. I‘m not entirely shure, but it felt like the HD-Rumble was improved too …
The humor bit about ChromaGun 2 has me a little worried … was really looking forward to it. Let's see how it reviews then. But putting a more positive spin on it, maybe it's just money saved for something that will be announced later today.
@Kiz3000 "Now if Moon Studios want to give us Switch 2 editions of the Ori games, then I am very much up for that." That would be Christmas in February!
Played through Hollow Knight's main campaign only recently while being a bit stuck during Silksong's Act 3. Found the experience quite breezy (but no less enjoyable) in comparison. And that after bouncing off it hard a year prior. Guess the sequel toughened me up a bit … 😆 Would love to get started on the post-game content now with the new Switch 2 edition. Let's hope for an announcement later today!
The original game is so good that I will happily upgrade it to a fully fledged Switch 2 version, even if it is for 20 € that could buy a new indie title. The multiplayer modes might even be fun with friends and family once every second full moon or so …
Is it 120fps? Not much interested in the multiplayer elements, but would love to replay the main game on Switch 2 with all the shiny bells and whistles.
Second helpings of Metroid Prime 4 (hard mode and going for 100%) and Silksong (after finishing Act 3 a few days before Christmas), sprinkling in a couple of sessions of Skate Story.
Happy New Gaming Year everyone!
@Phelaidar The port, despite some visual downgrades, runs incredibly well on Switch 2 with locked 60 fps and not a single hitch during my playthrough. I paid a bargain bin price (16 €) at launch and don‘t game on other systems. There were comparison videos already pretty close to launch and reviews as well. People can make informed decisions on how to spend their money themselves without your blessings, no need to call them stupid. Just sayin‘, but running around and commenting on how smart (or not) others supposedly are usually points to some insecurities the person making these comments has regarding their own mental faculties. 😉

If they are almost identical, why score one 9/10 and the other 6/10, NL!?

Sounds perfect to me! Didn‘t expect a new 3D Mario this year anyways.
Re: Review: Disney Dreamlight Valley - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - A Lovely-Looking Upgrade, But Still Not There Yet
Better than Mario Wonder S2 (6/10 on NL)!? Might have to get into this.

@Haruki_NLI It was out on PC first … how was it held back spec wise exactly? But yeah 120fps on Switch 2 … what were they thinking!?
Re: Mario Tennis Fever Update Now Available (Version 1.0.2), Here Are The Full Patch Notes
Such a fun game, especially in local (co-op aka Double) multiplayer! Happy they keep fine tuning this.

Re: Community: Which Switch 1 Games Benefit Most From Switch 2's New Boost Mode?
@OrtadragoonX @atepa Absolutely! The visuals of Fast RMX now look so much crisper in comparison.
Just tried Lost in Random because it looked utter rubbish in handheld on both Switches … and it is a completely new game!
Re: Community: Which Switch 1 Games Benefit Most From Switch 2's New Boost Mode?
Fast RMX now looks much better in handheld than Fast Fusion …
