Such a beautiful and fun game – and even more so now. Can‘t wait to go back to it! Thanks for the side by side footage.
@BaldB3lper78 Yeah, absolutely. I especially love the DK Banaza and MKW upgrades! And that‘s just first party games. Street Fighter 6 also received a hefty upgrade pack, not to mention Cyberpunk and Fast Fusion. They all ran quite poorly on Switch.
Already downloaded to my Switch 2, it hasn't been that long but I'm happy to jump back in come tomorrow! Funnily enough I bounced off of the demo twice before giving it a go when it went on sale last year … and the demo was totally lying, it's fantastic.
@Picola-Wicola It is, isn't it!? People seem to be forgetting they are on a Nintendo site. Is this game fun to play(?), should be the question to ask. I know performance plays a part, but it's not the end all be all. Leave the tech-spec-race to PC, Xbox, and Playstation gaming.
Great, I'm still missing Dream Buffet and the Forgotten Land. The Return to Dreamland theme is from my first Maximus Cup. Played every cup since, but this is still by far my favorite theme of them all.
A fan is someone who likes and supports something/someone, all the while being free to stop and part ways once this affection comes to an end. Modern "fandom" on the other hand is taking intellectual ownership of something/someone and therefore feeling entitled to bully them into submission should they dare deviate from a very narrow set of preconceptions. Nintendo caters to the former.
The definition of fan and the (obsessive) degree of their fanhood should also be taken into account here … I’m certain that many of the very vocal nitpickers that are trolling the online spaces (who of course see themselves as the only true fans) are rather seen as a toxic byproduct and not taken too much into consideration.
Have seen this elsewhere already … just a filler to fuel the already heated discussion … because there is really not much to be gleaned from that video.
Dressing up as Flash Gordon and going to a sci-fi themed birthday party. 😂 Some Switch 2 then probably tomorrow – Ninja Gaiden Ragebound, TotK, Hogwarts Legacy or some Mario Maker 2. Happy Gaming!
Both fantastic games, both well deserved! Love to see a title like DK ahead of RE Requiem. Watched the Opening Night and wondered what‘s up with gaming? All grimdark, all grey and brown color palettes, soulslike chasing war game (two tank games wtf?) chasing horror game chasing soulslike … quite depressing. DK and MKW have so much more charm and personality. And are great fun, both!
@Not_Soos Talking about hand drawn games, there is new trailer out (saw it on Steam) for the Eternal Life of Goldman. That has to be my most anticipated game atm. It absolutely looks to die for.
Hab leider zu spät dran gedacht, sonst hätte ich mir bestimmt Tickets besorgt. Köln ist nur 2 1/2 Stunden mit dem Zug entfernt … nächstes Jahr, ganz bestimmt! I didn‘t realize it was so soon, otherwise I would have gotten tickets. Cologne‘s just a 2.5 hrs train ride away … next year for sure! Like the subhead by the way.
All in all no biggie … It really gets interesting when we get to see how Indiana Jones shapes up. Machine Games got Wolfenstein II to run on Switch after all and – judging from the comments here – Fromsoft do not have the best track record.
Learning a new fighter is one thing, but learning a new way to control the game on top … well it's not for me, but happy for those who have been waiting for such a controller. I'm with @Pillowpants on this: quite happy with modern controls in SF6, though especially for handheld play (without the D-Pad).
Considering how prominently Fromsoft's titles were featured in the Switch 2 Direct (and Ask the Developer interviews), I can see Nintendo stepping in now and offering heavy support to whip this game into shape.
@Medic_alert Agree, the yardstick for what's possible (in the case of Fromsoft at least) on Switch 2 should rather be The Duskbloods which is being developed exclusively for the system.
@Suketoudara A new Extreme G? I'd be all for it. Otherwise I don't know what to expect or who's behind the revived company. Most successful IPs were sold off when they went bust …
If it‘s 14,99 again I might get it and fall off again a few biomes in, or not (?)… just to play it on Switch 2 in 120fps. Happy for everyone who‘s been desperately waiting!
@Wakkawipeout Maybe I‘m mistaken, but aren‘t the MK Deadly Alliance and MK Advance logos also in the video (along with 4 and Trilogy)? Or is the screen just a historical overview?
I feel it in my bones, this is gonna be great! Kirby as a character and the world he's set in as a whole just lend themselves to a fun competitive racer with great tracks (colorful, fantasy-sci-fi-space-race, trippy stuff) and fun special abilities (mouthful transformations). I never played the original, but it's like 20 years old. How much will they just strip away and fill with new creative ideas? There has been so much innovation in terms of game design since then and I'm certain they can heap on some more.
In a sense it's good the game was only middling in reception and size of it's fan base. It just gives them more creative freedom, because they can't step on too many toes if it deviates from the original formula.
@Dman10 It‘s almost tragicomic. Under every second announcement you read the same "Amazing this looks really great, oh no wait it‘s a Key-thingy. I will not play this rubbish by this rubbish studio ever. And by the way ***k you Nintendo for coming up with this ***t." Just slightly exaggerating of course. This game looks actually pretty nice and I would much rather play it on Switch 2.
@PineappleLake Unpopular opinion, but Hollow Knight – for me at least – was such a longwinded, dark and depressing drag. And I think Kyle Thompson is far more talented in creating a fun and balanced game. Also, Metroidvanias have been around long before Hollow Knight …
Crypt Custodian was one of my favorite games of the second half of last year. Loved the whole vibe (all sad, uplifting, cute and quirky at the same time) and crunchy gameplay/combat. Still have to play Islets, but this one looks even better. Day 1 purchase and my highlight of the direct.
Unless you're a collector, if you already own the game the upgrade should be a no-brainer. And if the post game and what they have shown in the trailers are anything to go by, this expansion is pretty substantial.
Stories in Nintendo games are only ever riffs on repeating themes in service of fun gameplay (monkey wants banana, plumber saves princess/kingdom, triforce etc.) and should be treated accordingly. Insisting on stuff like lore and canon only gives you things like the unbearable mess that is Star Wars or Marvel today.
Viewfinder for Switch 2, please! Most anticipated Indie for me right now is The Eternal Life of Goldman though. That one looks like Ducktales on steroids. MIO: Memories in Orbit might also show up again, this time with a release date.
Edit: Rhythm Storm or something else by radiangames goes on my wishlist too
Already pre-ordered the upgrade. More of this fantastic game is very welcome. Just played through it last year for the first time and had a blast. And with the overview trailer out of the way Prime 4 should be next in line. No big 1st party release scheduled for September yet …
