Re: Round Up: Here Are The First Player Impressions Of Switch 2

"When you hold the unit, it feels extra solid with no wobble. I forgot the controllers actually detach lol." That is what I was hoping for and kind of expected after the first console reveal. Back to Nintendos solid built quality it seems. I mostly play handheld and together with the new 1080p/120Hz HDR screen … this is gonna be perfect!

Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendos invites are still going out. Received mine 5 minutes ago. Wahoooo!! Cancelled my order with another retailer and went with them. So there's one more SW2 out in the wild. Go catch it!

Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch 2

@ZombAid82 Same here, would have qualified on their conditions, but didn't get an invite. Maybe more people qualified than there were available units or they are staggering the invites? I also ordered at mediamarkt.de to pick it up on June 5th. Otto.de also still carries the pre-order. I put down the money and now hope for the best.

Re: Nintendo Understands Switch Owners May Not Be "Ready To Jump To Switch 2"

@Banjo- they added the whole voice acted Zelda Notes thingy and the built-sharing for TotK. And as for now I guess the added HDR lighting is not out of the box. If that is enough for you, is for you to decide, but they definitely put a lot of work into it for as expansive as these games are. Mario Odyssey/World, the two other Zeldas, Pokemon Scarlet/Violet etc. will all be free upgrades …

Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch 2

@MrBelmont Probably just means that there are more people who qualify than actual units available. By the listed criteria I should have qualified too … don't take it personally, I guess.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch 2

@Jhena Otto.de also still caries the pre-order, the Germans don't seem to be in a hurry about Switch 2. Go figure. Good though I immediately jumped on it as I didn't get an invite from Nintendo yet … Good luck to everyone else!

Re: Upgrade Pack Price For Zelda: BOTW And TOTK Has Been Confirmed

jfp

Perfect, wanted to start a new playthrough of TOTK anyway … 10$ for 4k, 60fps, HDR lighting (idk if that's even standard with the upgrades) in a game which takes roughly 150hrs to complete – and can be played almost indefinitely – sounds more than alright to me. It also adds the app-notes and built-sharing for those interested.

No problem per-ordering in Germany right now (e.g. mediamarkt.de or otto.de). Maybe interesting for some in the EU or UK … don‘t know about shipping or import tax/conversion rate to the UK though. Got my order in 2 days ago as I didn‘t want to risk not getting an invite from Nintendo. Good luck to everyone still trying to grab one!

Re: New-Look Donkey Kong Items Now Available On The My Nintendo Store

jfp

It seems the original designer of his DKC look is himself in favor of the remodel: (via Polygon) “Unfortunately, when I designed him, because he basically had Battletoad eyes, it [was] hard to give Donkey Kong any expression other than ‘annoyed,’” Bayliss explained via X (formerly Twitter) on Jan. 25. “This is something I take a little more into consideration when creating characters today!”

Re: New-Look Donkey Kong Items Now Available On The My Nintendo Store

Really like the new design. Reminds me of the drawings in the old "Club Nintendo" Magazines in the early 90s. The more relaxed baseline expression will allow for more expressiveness overall. Funny enough, there was an article over on polygon a few days ago about "Angry Kirby" and how in the 90s and 2000s they gave the pink fluffball a much more fierce and determined expression in marketing him to American boys. They have dialed this back since and maybe DK just follows suit and Nintendo returns to its original designs …

Re: Switch 2's Magnetic Joy-Con Connection Was Originally An Idea For Switch

jfp

@-wc- Concerning tate mode: I just hope there will be an official flip-grip this time around. Though not an official product, having this option on the current switch makes the joycons absolutely worth it – for me at least. Tabletop mode on the other hand I only used once or twice for especially tricky game sections. Needed to use the pro controller and was to lazy to fire up the home theatre for docked play. Also, the magnet solution (as long as they are strong enough and/or combined with a locking mechanism) together with how far the connecting parts reach into the main body, should help make it a lot more solid than the wiggly rails we have now. I would be really surprised if not – after all Nintendos R&D had eight years to get this right …
