Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite 3DS Model?

To be fair, I’ve only ever played the OG models, so can’t really judge the later ones, but I love it as it is, it’s perfect to me.

I do love the SNES deco on some later ones though

Re: Two Cancelled Virtual Boy Games Coming To NSO In 2026, Including F-Zero Spin-Off

@Oldstalk shutting the servers down doesn’t necessarily mean they’re lost forever, it depends on whether the games are programmed to regularly verify via that server.

I have hundreds of digitally purchased games on Wii, Wii U and 3DS, all happily working long after the servers were shut. They’re no longer available for purchase, but anyone who downloaded them before the shut down can keep them indefinitely.

NSO Classics all require the respective app logs into their server regularly, or you lose access. Once those servers go offline, yes, these games will be lost to history once more and the VB headset (plastic or cardboard) will be useless.

Hopefully that doesn’t happen for a very long time though.

@Smithicus in this case, sure, credit where it’s due for Nightdive providing extensive after care. And there’s plenty of other high quality releases that still get minor patches after the fact as niche glitches get discovered that most players never experience.

What bugs some players is when certain games do get rushed out in a broken state, with the “we’ll fix it with patches” mentality. They always get slammed by the critics, so launch sales will go down and you’d hope the devs learn a lesson from that, but apparently not enough.

What specifically bugs me is when looking at reviews of games that have been around long enough to be patched into a hugely improved state (thinking the original Cyberpunk, No Man’s Sky, Yooka-Laylee, GTA Trilogy, Arkham Knight) and the reviews no longer reflect the product on sale. Sure, there are plenty of news articles detailing the patches (which like this one are extensive, dry, and importantly pre-release), but sadly very few reviews of the revised player experience.

But in this specific case, I’m just stirring the pot of other people arguing, I have no real skin in this game.
