@GameOtaku I’m just guessing that they’ve done some maths somewhere and decided that offering one-off purchases as an option would undermine the NSO value proposition and cannibalise NSO subs, so they’d feel compelled to increase the sub fee, which in turn would steer people away.
I’m guessing, I have no proof of any of it.
You can argue that they’d make enough profit from individual VC sales to compensate any drop in NSO subs, but without knowing the actual cost to Nintendo of each element of the NSO service, it’s hard to be sure.
@Axecon this, exactly this. I bought hundreds of games across the Wii, 3DS and Wii U virtual consoles, and half are still sitting untouched in the backlog, waiting for the time to shine.
I wish my purchases migrated over to the Switch, and I wish I could at least have the option of buying individual classics to keep, without the subscription. But I’m not going to begrudge people who prefer the all-you-can-eat sub model. Ideally Nintendo would offer both options - though I imagine thwy don’t see that as financially sustainable
@HotGoomba box art “leaks” aren’t confirmations, anyone could whip that up in photoshop (which it looks like they did, badly) and get some clicks. Until we get official confirmation from Atlus, Sega or Nintendo, people are going to remain sceptical.
@sanderev I like that logic so much (especially considering the Kong family tree), but would that mean the Bowser Jr seen in Mario Sunshine in 2002, was born in 1989? Again, he seems younger than 13 to me…
Not sure if it’s comically small or not, but it does throw off the image’s balance. The “large horse” version makes it look like the humans are looking at the horse, while in the “small horse” version they’re looking at the empty space above his head.
The change in his pose also makes it look like he’s saying “hey, I’m down here, look at me!”
What does the 170m surcharge mean? Is that an additional fine?
Not to be flippant about money, but 2.5m Yen for the main fine isn’t as much as it sounds - it’s “only” £14,365. That’s like the cost of a family car or large van.
Time Travel. Give Link the chance to visit Hyrule pre-Calamity and change history. Take the existing Hyrule template, but populate it with a living breathing population, and unruined towns.
I.e. do Hyrule Warriors in the actual TotK engine.
“The North American cover, by comparison, throws the sea iconography out of the window and leaves it sleeping with the fishes.” … “the nautical theme definitely carries over.”
I remember Merlin Stickers did a general Nintendo sticker book back on the late 80s. While I never had a NES at the time, I learned all about Zelda 2 from that…
There’s still going to be PvE though, just not what was originally advertised. Boo Blizzard for misrepresenting their product, but Boo NintendoLife for a misleading headline
I mucked about with an AR on Mario 64 and Goldeneye, all sorts of weird fun to be had there making random changes to things. But never used it for for cheating. Never needed to - I’d done everything already.
More recently used an AR to unlock Events in the DS Pokégames - those bits of the experience you can’t legitimately access any more. But I played them straight, no cheating once the Event was unlocked.
@Cashews while I agree with your logic about not hampering Xmas sales, Nintendo did announce the Switch in October 2016 for a March 2017 release.
Admittedly it’s not a direct comparison, as the Wii U was struggling for sales already, but the 3DS wasn’t doing badly, and they had the NES Classic chipping in too.
The main thing for me is that they’ve still not shown any first party titles beyond Tears and Pikmin 4. I don’t doubt they have stuff planned for Q3/4, and they do like to surprise us, but right now there’s nothing really driving Xmas sales anyway.
@dartmonkey thank you for the considered reply. As you suggest, I was labouring under the misconception that articles with more clicks and more user comments somehow generate more ad revenue. So whilst I honestly don’t even remotely believe you guys would deliberately publish something specifically to generate negative comments, I did suspect that an article with lots of users posting simply to complain would be more profitable than one that no-one comments on, so while it might not be deliberate, there’s still a silver lining to those articles from your POV.
To the actual point of the article, if they’re going to wilfully use something he wrote, and acknowledge the tune in the film’s credits, they should credit him properly.
It may have been already revealed elsewhere, but I for one hadn’t seen it mentioned before this article.
I don’t think omitting the word Rap from the title would have unduly affected the impact of the article.
By all accounts, the most satisfying part of the film is recognising the references. Now I’m going to be deprived of one moment of smug self satisfaction, because I know the Rap is in there somewhere, which I hadn’t expected in the slightest.
What you have done is increase the audience participation in this article by flooding the comments page with disappointed people like me. I really hope that wasn’t a consideration here, because that’s kinda trolly, and you’re better than that.
@ElRoberico @Shepdawg1 Not quite. I did this last week.
Bank is free to download, but to get Transfer you do need to a) have received the Pokédex in one of the Gen VI games (takes less than 10 mins in X), and b) have paid for at least 1 year’s subscription to Bank. Only then can you link your Gen VI game to Bank and access the Transfer download link.

Re: Don't Expect To See Future Super Mario Games On Mobile, Suggests Miyamoto
Seems to me like everyone is ignoring one potentially key word in that quote: “primary”
Sure, the main Mario games will be console exclusives, but that doesn’t mean secondary / spin-off games (like Kart Tour) won’t be mobile games.
I’m pretty sure that’s been Nintendo’s stated stance since they first announced any mobile games…

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The New Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer?
These new powers show so much potential for changing the way combat works in this game.
90% of my attacks in BOTW were just “camp and throw bombs from safety”, I was so nervous of weapon degradation / ammo supplies.
