Thankfully there is a Switch 1 that isn’t a key card

Glad to hear that Nintendo is releasing a smaller cartridge for games as I boycotted the Switch 2 due to the game key card debacle.

They must have been forced to do so probably due to less than expected profits margins after evaluating quarterly reports. LOL People! You wallet speaks very loud and can also speak volumes.

Using Ai to facilitate coding and for code quality checks? Good. Using AI generated content as placeholders? Good. It save time on development while artists do their non-ai art. Placeholder dialog? Good. Beats Lorem Ipsum text. Many times you need placeholder items to see how visual content will result in while assets are being made, and the while the game itself it’s being programmed.

AI can be a useful tool when used correctly. Now, using ai to generate final assets in a game such as images, dialogue, audio and video? Nope.

A bit of a click-bait title but Miyamoto’s views are not incorrect since even graphic design and web design are disciplines for developing a product to be consumed at the end of the day. Yes, they are art but art with a function instead of being art for its own sake.

How about seriously considering a Megaman Legends collection including the Tron Bonne game with quality of life improvements and Megaman Legends 3 to boot. I’ll buy that for $80 pesos.

@JohnnyMind Yeah but that pay cut was in the previous ceo’s tenure (may he rest in peace), the ceo pair this time around are more in line to traditional ceos so that pay cut will most likely not happen. They are the reason the Switch 2 is so developer friendly but not as consumer friendly.

I realized I don't enjoy the masochism that comes from receiving what is supposed to be a brand new game and instead receive an open game that staff probably borrowed to play so that they can tell customers about the game.

@Peach64 agreed. “You should have considered using Home” is just blaming the victim. Blaming a person for having faith that the cloud save function should just work is messed up.

Glad I held off on pulling the trigger on a purchase for a Switch 2.

@Spider-Kev the line of code is stored on the game but the fault is how the switch 2 software in the system is interpreting that line of code. Once Nintendo releases a system update, we should be good to go. When devs reports errors like this to the OEMs, in this case Nintendo, it is good for everyone involved including consumers…as long as Nintendo acts in it which I think they will since the backwards compatible games, the better for them overall.

@Lowdefal agreed as that is the nature of emulation. I still remember the artifact error when playing the original halo 2 on the xbox 360. I’m referencing the scene where you are on the giant scarab walking through a canyon where at the end of it, the scarab blasts open a door through a forerunner facility.

@rvcolem1 yeah…I miss the old days of updated versions, but that is the nature of the beast now, unfortunately.

@JohnnyMind go to the Battle Arena and you will get a nice surprise. It's literaly an arcade with people sitting at cabinets you can walk up and sit opposite to challenge like a real arcade. There is also a separate arcade area to play older arcada games and now some nes games as well. And the standard arcade mode which includes the traditional story mode.

@Maxz exactly. Bond’s origins and story are always retconned like Captain. America’s story is always pushed forward. Cap is frozen during WWII but the decade where he thaws out is always pushed forward.

As for Bond, they just move the era forward but the films (excluding Craig’s since those where a complete reboot) had always retconned the time period but carried the story elements over from the previous ones.

@JohnnyMind The trailer and the music they used (actually from one of the films which i’m trying to determine right now but I want to say Sean Conery era bond) wants me want to what this instead of playing it.

@MSaturn PC gamers were the first to accept this reality long before console gamers. It just sad that the number one nostalgia machine (apart from Sega for me and NEC for others) is going this route this hard.

If we are going all digital, I can accept it. Just be upfront about it. This virtual card and game-key card nonsense feels like I’m being conned into buying expensive tchotchke just like back in the day when pc games moved to digital completely but still sold boxes with just license keys.

@MSaturn with the fact that Nintendo Switch game backwards compatibility is software emulation, the pricing, most 3rd party games being game-key cards, the Switch 1 may be the last console. I’m now considering going OLED and just buying the games I missed on due to budget constraints. I have 300+ physical which I’ve played at least once as I’m collecting for the system but the Switch 1 may or may not be my last purchase.
It also means that I will definitely need to repair my Switch 1 (battery issue) instead of replacing it. No point in trading it in since I will get ripped a new one in the value and finding out many of my games not working anymore, especially since many are limited print physical games.

With the Switch 2 coming out? No question. This is the time to push the console through all marketing avenues. I would not be surprised if they show up at the Tokyo Game Show. I’d be surprised if they didn’t.

I’m still waiting for a proper Shadow Dancer game. The Genesis/Megadrive title was excellent and perfected the gameplay featured in the first Shinobi title and the arcade Shadow Dancer title.

@NTELLIGENTMAN Rival Schools 2 is Project Justice L. There was that extra Justice Gauken disk for playstation but I’m not too sure on it.

The Street Fighter EX games would have to added to a Capcom vs Arika collection which would be the perfect place for the arcade Rival School game as well as the star gladiator and ex games.

Alpha 3 Max? We definitely need a 4th collection for Alpha 3 Max, DarkStalkers Chaos Tower, and any other lingering titles out there.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is going to be my priority this weekend. I’ll start on the Steam Deck since it’s downloading now while I way for the physical switch version.

It is kind of insane to think that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still going strong after all this time, even though the game started as a remaster of a wiiu game but it is much more now. The dlc is probably the reason for its popularity.

I actually need the battery replaced so it’s been console mode. But, I’ve been split between the analogue pocket, switch and steam deck.
