Re: Soapbox: TOTK's Ganondorf Is Great, But Zelda Needs To Do More With Its Villain

eaglebob345

I liked what they did with Ganondorf's character, just not how it was done storywise. The memories were the bulk of the story, again, but he didn't really do anything in the present day. I was secretly hoping for a twist villain in Rauru, but that didn't come to fruition, unfortunately.

Honestly, the game we should have gotten was the adventure that Zelda got to go on without us.

Re: Soapbox: 'Switch 2' Doesn't Really Need Backwards Compatibility

eaglebob345

For a smooth transition it does. The Wii U was a floppity flop, so there wasn't much ire about ditching discs. It won't go so well if they change format and ditch backwards compatibility again. The handhelds, aside from the 3DS to Switch, have always had some form of BC, and they shouldn't ditch it now.

EDIT: I don't even have to read the article to know a bad take when I see one. This take is about as bad as anything that Pachter guy used to say. Also, can we just call it the Super Switch for now? Switch 2 sound stupid, especially considering Nintendo never slaps a number on the end and keeps it rolling. Even the Wii U wasn't called Wii 2...

Re: Denuvo's 'Switch Emulator Protection' Is Now Available Via Nintendo's Official Dev Portal

eaglebob345

Omg, I can't keep stealing all the games I want!? Downvote.

You've got to be a special kind of foolish to be mad at developers for trying to protect their games from thieves. Most of the complainers weren't going to buy the games anyway, so the devs don't really need to care.

I too am worried about performance, DRM, always online games, all digital future, etc., but the thieves and the reason so many companies make these decisions. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Re: Japanese Charts: Pikmin 4 Retains Its Crown For The Third Week In A Row

eaglebob345

@YoshiF2 I know the feeling. Pikmin 3 was a perfected Pikmin 1, while Pikmin 4 is just a better Pikmin 2. Pikmin 1 and 3 are what the series should be. The dungeons (and night "explorations") extend the length of the game, but they don't really add to the fun, only the frustration. I would gladly trade them all for 3-5 more opens areas to explore. That would be awesome. If they add DLC, I hope it's not more dungeons.

Re: Call Of Duty On Switch Is Back On After Microsoft Wins FTC Court Case

eaglebob345

I'm glad Microsoft won mainly because the FTC lost. They should've stopped the bank mergers, cable providers mergers, and cell phone company mergers but they sat those out. Fighting over CoD was just childish.

Edit: Also, Sony's whining was not validated, which I also appreciate. I'm a Nintendo first Sony sometimes type of person, and even I know Sony was serving up some lukewarm BS.

Re: PlayStation Boss Doesn't Think Call Of Duty Appeals To Nintendo's Core Audience

eaglebob345

To quote myself from a previous article:

"When Nintendo systems don't sell as well as other consoles (N64, GameCube, Wii U) they are direct competitors, but when they sell much better than competing consoles (Gameboy, DS, 3DS, Wii, Switch) they aren't even in the running? Uh huh. Y'all smell that? Smells like BS to me. Just like Sony's momentum chart."

I don't like the superiority complex Sony has regained from the PS4 era. I was hopeful they dropped that after the early failures of the PS3. I think a large part of the problem is that people are too quick to forgive Sony for their f-ups, but they continue to drag Nintendo and Microsoft for theirs.

Re: Sonic Superstars' Release Date Might Have Already Been Revealed

eaglebob345

I'm interested in both games, but Sega must be pretty confident to go toe-to-toe with their former rival on said rival's own platform. I wonder how they both will stack up in reviews. 🤔 Wouldn't it be the shock of the century if the new 2D Sonic game reviewed as good as, or even better than, the new 2D Mario game? I doubt it, but it could happen.

Re: Feature: Our Predictions For Tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct

eaglebob345

Prediction Time:

35 Minutes of Everybody 1-2-Switch detailing every mini game and how the world will be saved if we all buy the game. It's super great and tested well in every market. Please understand.

5 minutes about the character customization of Pikmin 4 and your faithful doggo companion. Much doggo, most buy.

EDIT: My uncle works at Nintendo, so I would know. 🤪

Re: Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope "Should Have Waited" For Switch Successor, Says Ubisoft CEO

eaglebob345

@UltimateOtaku91 I don't really mind having multiple games in a franchise either, as long as the games are solid (that's aimed and Game Freak and the dubious quality of their games). The same applies for Hal Laboratories with Kirby as they aren't Nintendo owned either. Nintendo may own Fire Emblem, Kirby, and Pokémon (partially), but they are mostly hands off with those franchises.

Re: Feature: Fire Emblem Engage Devs On "Drastically Different" DLC And Characters "Living As The Person They Want To Be"

eaglebob345

There were parts of Engage's story that I found very intriguing, but I think the story overall was a dud. It was like watching a cheesy 4Kids dubbed TV show from the 90s. Chapters 10 and 11 were the best in the game, but the rest of it was kinda meh. It also sucked that they had to patch in more options for bonding at the Somniel. I was mostly finished with the story by that point. I really liked a lot of the characters, but the fact that not all of the "romance" options are romantic is a little silly. Who gives someone a ring to declare everlasting friendship? And who thought it was a good idea to include the children in as "confession" options?

Re: Feature: Fire Emblem Engage Devs On "Drastically Different" DLC And Characters "Living As The Person They Want To Be"

eaglebob345

@BLD I have to agree with you for 3 Houses. Rather than telling a good story, they chose to make 3.5 routes of dubious quality, with what should have been the omni route (church route) just a gimped version of the Golden Deer route. Not to mention that the whole conflict with Rhea and Edelgard could've been resolved with literally one conversation within the ENTIRE YEAR they lived together. We barely got a good explanation for why certain characters did certain things, but they made sure to kill off Edelgard and Dimitri in every route you don't side with them. Then 3 Hope came along and did nothing more than destroy Claude's character.

Re: The Lara Croft Collection Will Finally Launch On Switch Later This Month

eaglebob345

I got happy until I saw which Tomb Raider games. Knowing that the first two reboot games were on PS3/360, I'm honestly surprised that they never made it to the Switch. I think you're right, @Shambo. It's a bit late in the game to bring Tomb Raider to the Switch, though I would still support a physical release of the reboot trilogy if it comes to pass.
