I've been saying water for the past month (and the past 20 years). Water starters have always been the most useful, even if they aren't the best in their region.
I got it at launch and played it non-stop for weeks. I didn't have an experience like that again until Pokémon Legends Arceus and Xenoblade Chronicles 3. I'm really hoping that Scarlet and Violet give me that feeling of freedom again.
It was probably people holding out the prevuous week to buy the Pokémon OLED model. I can't wait to see what those Switch sale look like from the Scarlet and Violet release.
Literally just Pokémon. I was expecting more from an exciting new games list. It Takes Two could be a pickup for me, but I'm not one for forced multi-player. Similar reason to why I passed on Temtem.
@N64-ROX I've played both and I prefer Bayonetta's controls and battle system. Astral Chain wasn't the worst to me, but some parts were much too cumbersome. I think it's definitely a try it for yourself situation, though.
@jsty3105 That's fair, but it still well exceeds standard wages. She shouldn't be trying to subsist off of 4-5 days of work every 8 years. Other voice actors have hundreds of roles in the time it took her to do 13.
It's mighty quiet in here now. $1000 an hour is generous. I wish I could make that much money per hour. My voice would be everywhere for that amount of money.
The only way I would play any cloud game would be if it was free. They did little to no work beyond button mapping. It's not native to the console so it's basically an always online f2p game to me.
Not a chance, not sorry. I can't feel bad for someone in an industry where the standard is $250 an hour. She should have taken other jobs, like Hale did. 650+ vs 13 tells me she is either difficult to work with or really high up on her high horse. Either way, she kinda just torpedoed her chances of getting work with Nintendo or Platinum again.
This is the most comments I've ever seen on a NL article! 😯
That said, I'm conflicted on the whole controversy and boycott. My main gripe with Taylor is that she went after her replacement, which is tacky no matter which way it goes.
She may think she is worth more, but the low sales of Bayonetta games and her lack of other voice acting credits may be why she couldn't get what she wanted. She's only got 13 VA credits to her name, according to behind the voice actor. Her last 2 VA roles were both Bayonetta, from 4 years ago for SSBU and 4 for Bayonetta 2. That can't possible be her only job because, if so, she may well not be a voice actor at all. Meanwhile, Hale has over 650 credits to her name since the 80's. They are not the same.
Also, not to burst her bubble but I'm guessing that, as far as Platinum is concerned, neither Taylor nor Hale "is Bayonetta". Atsuko Tanaka, her original JAPANESE voice actor, "is Bayonetta". To them, she's probably just the English dub that they'd bring back if convenient.
Finally, if she can't afford to run a car that's on her, not Platinum or Nintendo. She knows that one voice acting gig every 4 years isn't sustainable. Her situation is noone's fault but hers.
@Wexter I too am excited for what Nintendo does next. Hopefully it receives support from the start, rather than Nintendo having to go it alone with a few key friends again.
It's almost like the narrative that these games were not capable of running on the Switch was a load of BS. It's almost like all that was needed was developers good at their jobs. It's almost like these ports were never impossible. 😳
I'm going to hold off on this one for now. I don't like the always online requirement, the mmo grind, or the Pokémon circa 2013 aesthetic nor am I fond of the $45 price tag for an mmo. I'm surprised this game reviewed so much higher than Nexomon, but hopefully that means a lot of the QoL issues I had with Nexomon are not present here.
@Sequel Pikmin 3 is an excellent game. I haven't yet played it on the Switch but I did play the original on the Wii U. It's the only Pikmin game I've played, so I'm hoping that 1 and 2 come to the Switch in some way as well.
@Sequel All of the clones are trailing in their shadow. Nintendo will be fine. These companies are copying SSB, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, and Pokémon. All 20+ year-old game series. They are still the leader in those types of games and it took this many companies 20 years to even hope to compete. I can't wait for the Splatoon clones to come out in 2035.
Even the current whipping boy Pokémon is still ahead of the pack. Those clones out now are emulating Pokémon games from 10+ years ago, and they aren't even better than the games from 10+ years ago.
EDIT: I forgot to mention the Zelda clones popping up, most specifically the BotW clones.
Very much so. I never finished them on the Wii U because I don't like being tethered to the TV. The last game I ever finished with a traditional console to tv setup was Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii... nearly a decade ago.
My first Mario Kart was DS through download play with friends at school. I eventually bought my own, then we all moved on to MK7 together on the 3DS. Highschool was a simpler time.
I'm wondering if we are going to get an update on "the" article from last week. Between "that" article and this one, Splatoon's fanbase is fast becoming one of the most toxic fanbases I have ever had the displeasure of being attached to, and I'm a Pokémon fan. I've seen so much manufactured controversy and hatred for no real reason these past few months. Including the controversy about the "switched release dates" with Splatoon 3 and Xenoblade 3.
@Dang69 What is there to be critical about? They obviously haven't shown off every little thing about the game and there's definitely more to the story mode than what was revealed. The game was never going to be very different from the previous two because it would make no sense to change everything. All they really need to introduce is a new story, new weapons, and new maps and they would meet the criteria for a new game. Expecting loads of new weapons and maps at launch would be silly, especially knowing how the previous two entries were handled.
@StuTwo They aren't trying to reinvent the wheel here. The games will of course be similar because they are in the same series, but that doesn't mean Splatoon 3 won't be a great game on its own. People are being overly critical for a series that's only had 3 games in 7 years, with a 5 year gap between the second and third entries. Besides, there's bound to be more changes they haven't shown yet, and there's the continued story to enjoy as well.
Complaining about the sequel to a shooting game that came out 5 years ago being too similar to its predecessor feels disingenuous when we live in a world where CoD exists.
Uh oh, the gen fivers are out to play. I can't wait for those remakes so they can truly remember how bad that generation was, especially the story. The best narratives were Legends: Arceus, Platinum, and Emerald. Worst were USUM, B2W2, and XY, and SwSh. The stories went downhill after gen 4.
They are really stretching the definition of "sidequest" is this game. So much of it is integral to the story. I'm on 65 in chapter 5 and I still have no idea what going on. 🤣

Re: Random: After 25 Years, Ash Ketchum Is Now The Very Best, Like No One Ever Was
Can we stop with Ash as the protagonist now? It only took him 26 years to do what most of us can do in a matter of days. 😕

Re: Video: 10 Exciting New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In November 2022
@Old_Man_Nintendo Sifu is not my cup of tea. It Takes Two kinda is, but I'm a solo player.
Re: Video: 10 Exciting New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In November 2022
I would also be interested in the Story of Season game, but the main kid just looks so goofy. 🤪 Same reason why I passed on the first Doraemon SoS.

Re: Review: Bayonetta 3 - A Stunning Return For An Icon, And The Best Game In The Series
@WiltonRoots That's fair. Arguing over subjective game review scores as if they are objective facts is the gamer's bread and butter.
Re: Review: Bayonetta 3 - A Stunning Return For An Icon, And The Best Game In The Series
Awww, I missed all the fighting and arguing. 😕 What were people even arguing about? I hope it wasn't about an ex-voice actor's lies.
Re: Bayonetta's OG Voice Actor Responds To Online Backlash In Ongoing Dispute
At least she admits that she lied. Too bad she won't acknowledge that she admitted to lying.

Re: Talking Point: Given The Voice Artist Controversy, Will You Be Boycotting Bayonetta 3?
Imagine training seven years for your contract job, then only taking 13 roles in 18 years. I'd be poor too.

Gear is the obvious choice... but I picked grub to play with my friends. I voted for gear, though.

Re: Random: Nintendo Confirms How To Pronounce Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
@Deminox Nope, it's definitely Live A Live. You're probably one of those people that says route instead of route. 🤔
Re: Where To Pre-Order Fire Emblem Engage On Switch
@SwitchForce I don't know if we are allowed to post links here. However:
If you are in the UK, replace .co.uk with .co.jp
If you are in the US, replace .com with .co.jp
Then search for Fire Emblem. It didn't come up when I search it as Fire Emblem Engage, for some reason.
Re: Random: Nintendo Confirms How To Pronounce Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
@calbeau It'll never end. There's still so many people that say Live A Live or Live A Live, when it is so obviously Live A Live.
Re: Random: Nintendo Confirms How To Pronounce Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
I don't know why people want to fight about everything. Tears of the Kingdom sounds WAY better than Tears of the Kingdom.
Re: Where To Pre-Order Fire Emblem Engage On Switch
I pre-ordered it from Amazon Japan. I'll cancel it if I can get one stateside, but I don't think I will be able to get one.
Re: Japanese Charts: Splatoon 3 Physical Sales Splatter All Over The Competition
But it's too soon for a sequel! 🤣 That's why Nintendo shouldn't be listening to the naysayers. They don't have a clue.

Re: Splatoon 3 Becomes The Fastest Selling Nintendo Switch Game In Japan

I'm holding off on getting 3 until I can finish the story mode in the first two games (and the Octo expansion).
