Re: Hogwarts Legacy Is Apparently Coming To Nintendo Switch

eaglebob345

I mean, it IS the best selling current platform on the market. It's silly that there are not more multiplatform games on the Switch. Sure you'd have to scale back most games to run them on the Switch, but mainly Switch owners obviously don't care that much... WE MAINLY PLAY ON THE SWITCH. Also, the Switch games are comparable to late Xbox 360/PS3 games, and better. So games from that era should be fine. It baffles me that Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, FF13, Watchdogs, Dark Souls Trilogy, KH Collection (natively), GTAV, and many more games aren't on the Switch, as if it can't run them at all. Newer game would have to have compromises, sure, but it's not impossible. Also, making games on the Switch is probably the least expensive. Just make it good, playable, and make sure it runs well.

Re: Want To Play Atelier Sophie 2 With An English Dub? Let Koei Tecmo Know

eaglebob345

I would much rather have a good dub than it just being subbed. In fact, I rather have no voice acting at all than just subbed. I don't even pay attention to the voice acting during subbed games anyway, as it is just a distraction while reading. I'm not a fan of the overly cutesy girly voices that are prominent in Japanese voice acting, or the childish boy voice acting. It almost feels like it's either one of those two or the husky woman/manly man for a lot of Japanese voice acting. I know that's an oversimplification, but it's just prominent enough to turn me off of subs. Overall, I would prefer both, just to satiate the subz crowd, but I don't use subs for games or anime. I've skipped over many a game/anime for not providing a dub. I would rather read books/manga, not anime/games/movies. Also, slightly related: if the english dubbing for Kung Fu Hustle doesn't put a smile on your face, then you are a soulless human and I don't want to know you. 🤣

I copied my response in the survey that I put in the suggestions at the end:

"The sub over dub crowd sucks. Just do both, please. I've skipped over many games that didn't provide an english dub, especially ones that already have an english voice cast to work with, like the Fairy Tail game. Also, if you want people to use the dub more, spring for good voice actors. When you localize games with a dub, it's easier to tell when the voice acting is bad. I can guarantee you that "more people just use subs" because they don't know what bad Japanese voice acting sounds like. Food for thought: If Dragonball games were not localized with a dub, I would never buy them because Goku's Japanese voice acting is terrible. I'm sure she's a nice lady, but I would rather not hear that voice any more than I absolutely have to in life. Fun fact: I use that voice acting as a prime example of dubbing supremacy to shutdown the subs over dubs crowd whenever its rears it ugly head."

Re: Poll: Do You Think Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Have Eye Issues?

eaglebob345

@nhSnork My thoughts exactly!

I swear these internet complainers are trying to make any and everything about these games controversial. If you don't want the games, think they are too early, etc. That's fine, just don't play them. But trying to turn everything into a controversy is just tactless and childish. I just saw a fool's article yesterday about how to starters are too cute. Like, what? 🤨 The clowns are out in full force guys. 🤡

Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet Announced, Releasing Worldwide On Switch In "Late 2022"

eaglebob345

@somnambulance It's funny that way, isn't it? They beg for something other than the gyms (Sun and Moon), then they long for them. Then when the gyms come back (Sword and Shield) they long for more exploration. Then when exploration is key (Legends Arceus) they long for gyms and a league again.

I'm not saying that TPCI, Nintendo, and Game Freak make the best decisions, but I trust them so much more than the flip-flopping masses that don't really know what they want. I was hoping they would space out the releases more, but this game looks even more promising than Legends Arceus did.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet Announced, Releasing Worldwide In "Late 2022"

eaglebob345

These games look much further along than Legends Arceus did when it was announced. Gen 9 releasing this year makes me think that BDSP was supposed to be either late 2020 or early 2021 and Legends Arceus was supposed to be late 2021. Regardless, it seems that SwSh was the half-step to LA and LA was the half-step to SV. I can't wait for the hate train to be derailed and replaced with the hype train later this year. You'd think that naysayers would have figured out by now that, if they want to quit playing Pokemon, no one is going to stop them. They just feel the need to stick around and tell us all the reasons they don't want to play it every single time a new anything us announced. Go. No one is going to stop you. But also, stop trying so hard to be missed.

Re: It's Official, Nintendo Has Withdrawn Super Smash Bros. From EVO 2022

eaglebob345

I don't pay attention to any of this stuff but, as soon as I saw that Sony bought EVO, I knew that Nintendo wasn't going to stick around. Why would they willingly support their competition with a literal competition? It's foolish to even think for a second that they would. But of course it's Nintendo's fault that Sony bought EVO, right? Nintendo is being stingy and selfish for not directly supporting an industry rival, right? Where was that same energy when Sony abandoned E3, something that neither Nintendo nor Microsoft owns? I remember people lauding Sony for the decision because they can go it alone with their State of Play model. Well, guess what? Nintendo will be, and apparently has been, going it alone with SSB.

Re: 'This War Of Mine' Studio Will Donate Profits From The Game To The Ukrainian Red Cross

eaglebob345

@Tourtus Easy answer: The articles have the same author, and both publications are owned by the same company. It would be like if Nintendo Life, Push Square, and Pure Xbox had the same article about EA because they chose to share the same article rather than have three people write about the exact same thing. Either way, there's no conspiracy in that regard. That said, I really don't like that so many of the independent news sources are being bought out by big corporations, like the Washington Post and Amazon.

Edit: It's not Amazon that owns the Washington Post, but another one of Bezos' companies.

Re: Pokémon Presents Broadcast Confirmed For This Week

eaglebob345

I'm expecting Pokemon Legends Arceus DLC, more information on upcoming BDSP updates, and an update on Pokemon HOME. I'm hoping for a Let's Go Johto game, the NSO to add GB/GBC/GBA and DS Pokemon games, and an announcement for Gen V remakes. Normally I wouldn't hope for the remakes to come so quickly but I think it would great if they broke the remakes away from the one per generation model by sticking to the "faithful remakes" concept.

Re: Soapbox: Why Can't Nintendo Offer Both Virtual Console And Switch Online?

eaglebob345

As someone who is about to drop $60+ on some old Pokemon games, I am definitely in support of the subscription service over the VC. As unpopular as the opinion may be, I don't want to spend $100 per year for individual 15+ year-old games when I can pay $20-50 a year for hundreds of games instead. That said, I do want them to release the games in console collections like the Sega, Atari, and Namco collections from years ago.

Re: Soapbox: Why Can't Nintendo Offer Both Virtual Console And Switch Online?

eaglebob345

Nintendo digital games are locked to your console after the servers go down. So you basically own that copy. If you lose it in some way, how is that any different than losing the physical copy of the game? You could just make digital backups of all of your games on the 3DS on your computer and SD cards. That's much more protection than a physical cart has ever had.

Re: Soapbox: Why Can't Nintendo Offer Both Virtual Console And Switch Online?

eaglebob345

I distinctly remember people disliking the Virtual console because it cost too much and people begging for a Netflix style system for old Nintendo games.

https://www.theverge.com/2015/4/2/8329699/nintendo-could-learn-from-netflix-first-click

https://kotaku.com/nintendo-can-do-so-much-better-than-virtual-console-1825871773/amp

They delivered on that, albeit in a more primitive form than expected. It's not all it should be yet, but that doesn't mean we won't get to GB, GBC, GBA, DS, 3DS, GC, Wii, and Wii U eventually. Yes it is slow to update, but it'll only keep improving over time.

Re: Soapbox: A Week After Jailing One Pirate, Nintendo Just Made Piracy A Reality For Countless Fans

eaglebob345

The games are literally still on sale and you can still buy them for over a year. If you didn't get them in the last 10 years and you don't get them within the next year, then that's on you. We've all had adequate time to get these games and still have adequate time to get them as well. After you buy the games you want, you will still have access to redownload them after the shops close.

Re: Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings Of Ruin Has Now Shipped Over 1.5 Million Copies

eaglebob345

I powered through both MHS and MHS2 in January in anticipation of Legends Arceus. I liked both games but I don't think they are as engaging as Legends Arceus. The randomized egg den system and the fact that you have to traverse a den for one egg each time made it a bit of a slog by the end. Also, whoever told them to gimp the storage system from 1 to 2 should be fired. Regardless, I liked the stories that were told. I just wish that the conclusion of each story was better, they let your ratha keep their cool new forms, and that they let me keep the cool baby monster at the end of MHS2 (if you played it, you know what I mean).

Re: Microsoft Buys Activision Blizzard, Now Owns Call Of Duty And Crash Bandicoot

eaglebob345

@HeadPirate Mostly a joke for them to buy EA, too. I think it's sad that Microsoft is devouring the entire industry. At this point Ubisoft, Rockstar, EA, and a few other big companies are probably being eyed by Microsoft as we speak. The funny thing is that Microsoft could've been doing what they're doing now years ago, when those companies were less expensive. They're really just showing off at this point.
