Re: Infamous Stardew Valley-Inspired 'Super Zoo Story' Gets New Trailer

eaglebob345

@ATaco @JasmineDragon I was going to say the same thing. Stardew Valley is great but it looks mighty similar to FoMT. I actually like the FoMT art style and character models more. Looking at older shots of this game, the only similarity I've seen is that the wooden walkway looked similar. The fences, buildings, animals, etc. looked a lot different from SV to me.

Re: Nintendo Of America Criticised Over Treatment Of Part-Time And Contract Workers

eaglebob345

Hehe, sounds like part-timers salty about not being full-timers. That literally the norm in the US, so I'm not sure what they were expecting. It's difficult to get full-time work where I am, currently part-time myself, and we don't get anywhere near as many accommodations as the full-timers. Staff parking, wages vs salaries, benefits, etc. You can't expect full-time treatment as a part-timer and you can't just sit around and hope a full-time opportunity presents itself. If it is not presenting itself, then maybe it's time to move on. Don't make exaggerated claims that may hurt your employment prospects in the future.

Re: Talking Point: Is It Ever A Good Idea To Start At 'The Beginning' Of Series Like Zelda Or Dragon Quest?

eaglebob345

Depends entirely on the type of game. Kingdom Hearts - Heavily story-based, start from the beginning.
Pokemon - The original games are poor places to start if you want to like the series. Gen 4 is an excellent starting place as it was the birth of the modern style.
Legend of Zelda - The earliest game isn't a great starting point. A link to the past is a good start, but so in most of the titles.
Dragon Quest - 8 or 11 would be good starting places. 7 and below would be a no go for me.

Re: 'Seven Pirates H' Brings, Ahem, "Booby Training" To Switch This May

@SmaggTheSmug I was just making a similar point about 50 Shades of Grey and Twilight yesterday. Media aimed at men and media aimed at women are different because of what mainstream men/women are into in a given cultural environment. Like @HeadPirate was saying, why would developers/publishers make an equivalent of this game for women when it wouldn't sell? It's the same for movies, books, etc. It's not like men are going out in droves to read a male equivalent of 50 Shades, Twilight, 365 Days, After, etc. I know I wouldn't.

Aside from some conservative nutjobs, I don't see men running around trying to be offended by smut aimed at women. If women wanted some smutty games, I'm sure they would develop their own, like that Boyfriend Dungeon game. Sure it's not as smutty as something like this, but as you said @SmaggTheSmug, how much more objectification can you have than literally turning people into objects?

Re: Pokémon-Like Monster Catcher 'Coromon' Delayed On Switch, Will No Longer Arrive March 31st

eaglebob345

I was kinda looking forward to this, as well as Temtem years ago, because I like playing these games to directly compare them to Pokemon. MHS2 was probably the bet runner up I experienced, being hindered mostly by the travesal abilities, essentially their answer to HMs. I started Coromon on my phone a few months ago, but I dropped it immediately after hearing about a Switch port. Now I have to wait even longer, I guess.

Re: Temtem Still Releasing On Switch, "Preemptive Build" Sent To Nintendo For Certification

eaglebob345

The problems I see with this game are as @Dr_Lugae and @Thief mentioned above. The hype for this game is all but gone, and it's designed after the old Pokemon games, before Sun and Moon. Pokemon made several leaps ahead stylistically with Let's Go,
SwSh, Legends Arceus, and SV. If this game can't make it onto the Switch before SV, it runs the risk of being drowned out by those games whenever it does release. However, I do at least want to try it out. It looks like it could be more fun than Nexomon was.

Re: Dragalia Lost To End Service Later This Year

eaglebob345

Hopefully it gets a console adaptation/port/remake or a sequel. I don't recall getting to play it when it came out, I think because I had an old phone that couldn't run it. I had forgotten about it until now basically. Would anyone recommend trying to play it now or would I be too late to the party?

Re: Yes, Hogwarts Legacy Really Is Coming To The Nintendo Switch

eaglebob345

As long as it is not a cloud version and it runs decently well, I will buy it. I'm very hopeful that it is a solid port worthy of my time that comes out on time, like Immortals: Fenyx Rising. I don't want another Doom: Eternal Switch or Watchdogs Wii U situation.

Also, something is swimming around the internet that should be making certain people rethink things, so I appreciate NL's attempt at civility. Usually these discussions devolve into vitriol pretty quickly, so fingers crossed that it can be avoided this time.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy Is Apparently Coming To Nintendo Switch

eaglebob345

@Medic_Alert Game collections seem to be selling enough for companies like Ubisoft to keep doing them. No one wants to pay $40+ (or equivalent) to play one 10 year old game, when it is availble on other consoles for much cheaper. Nintendo games are basically the only exception because they aren't really available anywhere else.
