I picked it up during the Steam sale a couple of weeks ago for 4 bucks and ended up refunding it because the jumping felt so off. Gavin is 100% correct. I then decided to replay the originals on Wiistation and I'm currently having a blast.
" Pinball Spire is a game unlike any other, a pinballvania blending together classic genres - and pinball. " - This sounds exactly like Yoku's Island Express
I was confused by the screenshots because on first glance I thought they were actually screenshots FROM Maniac Mansion. Being inspired by a game is one thing, but you need to at least put in some effort to distinguish your work from that which it was inspired by.
I'll stick with the Gamecube version then. Don't see a reason to purchase a downgraded port when the original is already a flawless masterpiece. I just feel bad that the people who missed out on it the first time around still won't be able to experience it the way it was intended to be experienced back in 2004.
Forgotten Sands Wii is the best game in the series and it might be the best 3rd party game of the Wii generation. The game was perfectly crafted to take advantage of the system's strengths and it delivers a near-flawless experience full of innovative mechanics that wouldn't have worked nearly as well on any other system.
I feel like this oversteps the line between parody/homage and infringement. Maybe they're intentionally trying to get Konami to threaten legal action simply to make them publicly acknowledge that Castlevania exists?
As I scrolled through the list I was getting ready to rage over Pinball Pulse not being included, only to be pleasently shocked to see it at number one! It only has one table but that one table is among the best I've ever played in a pinball game. Now if only Nintendo would give more people a way to play it.
@TrueBlueYoshi There's a Gecko code for Colors on Wii that unlocks the framerate, then if you play on Dolphin you can overclock the emulated CPU to actually allow it to reach 60 with the framerate unlocked, that's probably what you watched
It looks good but why not create an original story with original characters for your game instead of using public domain works whose original incantations aren't thematically similar to the style that you're going for
@gojiguy You heard wrong, the Switch version runs at 30 fps by default and hits that target nearly 100% of the time. It also has an option to unlock the framerate to run at up to 60 fps and it actually manages to reach 60 when there's not much going on, though most of the time it seems to be running in the 40s or 50s.
Just found some footage of the "Unleash the Beast" mode and watched for a bit. It doesn't hit 60 a lot of the time but it's still close enough that it looks far superior imo to the 30 fps mode (which does appear to consistently hit 30)
@Bizzyb There's a 60 fps mode available?? Weird that they made that an option that you need to enable. I checked out some Switch footage and mostly lost interest in the game due to it running at only 30 fps. I'll have to see the 60 fps mode in action to see how consistent it is but if it manages to hit 60 fps most of the time like Future did on Xbox then the game is back on my radar!
@Happy_Gamer Same here, I loved The Messenger so much that I almost considered shelling out hundreds of dollars for a physical copy before I came to my senses.
These Collector's Editions are such a ripoff! Who in their right mind would pay an extra $30 over the standard edition for the extra trinkets being offered? The regular edition itself isn't exactly a beacon of value, either. Wasn't this game a $20 budget release way back on the PS2? (EDIT: Even cheaper, it retailed for only $10 when it came out for PS2 in 2006!)
Did they get the name by combining the North American and European names of the DSiware classic Trajectile/Reflect Missile? Gameplay doesn't seem to be inspired by it. This actually looks really cool, may pick it up.
I'm actually impressed — As shameless of a ripoff as this is, Cuphead's art style is not an easy style to pull off and this seems to have pulled it off nearly as well as Cuphead did.
The Wiimote was such a great device and the IR sensor is its greatest asset. It really does make interacting with modern systems feel dated in comparison. So many amazing games that made use of that functionality. Still got my homebrewed Wii and Wii U hooked up in my room and they drive the majority of my entertainment time.
Loved Lostwinds! Definitely one of the two main standout game's from the early days of Wiiware, with Toki Tori being the other. Can't believe it's been 15 years since Wiiware launched.
It's amazing how they keep re-releasing this game and every time it gets worse. And that they still haven't figured out a way to get back the 60fps framerate from the original Gamecube version.
I would've loved to check it out but my DSiware fridge on my 3DS is full and shuffling titles back and forth between the SD card and system memory is too cumbersome for me to really bother with. Really wish Nintendo had handled this aspect of memory management better on 3DS! Even doing something like the Wii which let you play titles from the SD card by copying them to the system and launching them in a single step would've been enough of an improvement to get me to buy more DSiware.
@Bomberman64 Thanks for pointing out the lack of Turbo Grafx/PC-Engine versions, that makes this collection a no for me! Dragon's Curse and Dynastic Hero easily outshine the Sega console versions of their respective games, the former due to running at 60 fps versus only 30 fps for Dragon's Trap, and the latter due to the awesome PCE-CD soundtrack.
Is this the first time Ori and the Blind Forest has been discounted that heavily? For only $7.50 it might be worth double dipping in case I ever want to sell my physical copy.

Re: Konami Appears To Be Releasing Suikoden I & II HD Remaster On Switch 2
The remasters are inferior to the PS1 versions due to running at 30fps. I'll stick with the 60fps originals.

Of course Konami wouldn't give them the Silent Hill IP. I mean, they haven't even developed a single Pachinko game!
