Re: First Impressions: Blasting and Hacking in RIVE

Yep, the Wiimote and Nunchuk is the best controller ever conceived. In terms of ergonomics, functionality, versatility, and pure fun factor, other controllers can only dream of matching it. It makes me sick to see so many Wii U titles ignore the Wiimote when they would have been vastly improved by supporting it.

Any word on Wiimote + Nunchuk support? It should be mandatory for games like this. Joystick aiming is too slow and inaccurate for the controls to be suitable for my tastes, which is why I won't be buying this if it doesn't support pointer aiming with the Wiimote.

@MadAdam81 Gonna be hard for Xbone to catch up to Wii U at all, let alone pass it by millions of units, when it's been selling worse than Wii U on a worldwide basis ever since Mario Kart 8 came out. The combined US + Japan sales are roughly equal, with the Wii U's ~50k monthly sales in Media Create cancelling out the 'Bone's lead in the NPD, and the 'Bone has been a total flop throughout Europe, allowing the Wii U to surpass it there as well.

I don't think you should ignore a game's price when deciding its score. Even if this game had good gameplay, if the price tag does not match the amount of value the game offers, the score should suffer as a result.

Re: Image & Form's Olle Hakansson Teases New SteamWorld Game

I hope they come up with something that has a more interesting gameplay concept than Steamworld Dig. That game seems to have a lot of polish and shows off the developer's talent, but the gameplay just seemed so boring and repetitive, and with no demo to convince me otherwise I was forced to pass on the game.

Re: Matters Of Import: Taking Off With 3D Thunder Blade

I never played the arcade version of this game, but I was so impressed by the 3D trailer on the eShop that I immediately bought the game for my JP 3DS. I like the game — it's short, but very sweet. If the difficulty of these games is a detractor for you, you should know that the unlockable mode is fairly easy to get a 1CC clear on with the default settings. You start with three lives, but you earn a ton of extra lives at the end of each stage.

@Thulfram The latter, they're made by Silver Star Japan and published by Agetec. I believe that the Rabi Laby series is actually quite popular in Japan. I think I read on Silver Star's website that the series has sold over 100,000 units, but I may be remembering incorrectly.

Don't write off Rabi Laby! The first two, along with the spin-off 3DS game Witch's Cat, are some of the best puzzle-platformers out there. If you like head-scratching puzzle games whose mechanics are much deeper than they first appear, give it a shot!
